Chapter 11
Written by: Lady Valtaya
Patara growled as she realized that she was still alone in the enormous expanse of white. Bardock wasn't coming out to join her. What could be more important than training to defeat Frieza? The fate of their entire planet rested on their shoulders and he had decided to take a stroll or something?? The floor plan of their living quarters wasn't that complicated, and he was too smart to have gotten himself lost anyway, so what could he be doing?
The queen walked inside and was about to tell him to get moving, when she realized he was sitting on the floor, next to one of the beds, staring at the wall across from him as if he had just been clubbed over the head. He looked dazed and confused. She watched him in silence, sensing that something was very different about him at the moment than what she had seen of him so far...
Allowing herself a moment to look at him, she decided that he was a handsome Saiyan. He was older than she was, and his coloration was darker, but he was every bit a warrior. Those scars had thrown her a little at first but they definitely added to his powerful countenance and they didn't hide the strongly chiseled features of his face. Her eyes drifted over his body, taking in the broad shoulders, lean hips and powerful legs. The way he moved was graceful, confident, very athletic; almost like an elite-born warrior...
It was odd to see him sitting there motionless that way, his tail flickered restlessly across the floor for a moment, then he was still once more, and yet the pole-axed expression never left his face as he sat there, obviously lost in thought. Finally he growled and pushed himself to his feet. Again his tail lashed about and she saw it begin to bristle slightly, his mood was definitely one of anger at the moment, but she could feel him struggling for control of his emotions. He was powerful, much too powerful to be considered a third class fighter, yet he had never applied for formal status change, and she could feel that power level rising even without a scouter... all the same, he seemed to be calming down and finally his power began to drop. She remembered what she had seen in his file, before she had gone to visit him in the cell, that he was an exemplary squad leader and fighter, and a bright scientist. It was so confusing, with the things that he knew about things that no one else could possibly know... he had to be a spy, and yet her instincts were telling her that he was telling the truth about his visions.
She remembered what she had seen in his file that he had had another son, besides Kakarrot, and both of them had the same mother. An Elite Commander named Celera. She and Celera had never met, but both had graduated from the Elite Academy, Celera had been two years ahead of her. It had surprised Patara greatly to learn that Celera had been killed along with her team. That planet was supposed to have been an easy mission... Patara didn't find it surprising that Celera wouldn't have allowed herself to be love mated with a third class warrior though; after all she was constantly in trouble in school. She was definitely her own woman, she tended to do things her own way, that was why her team had been under her command, and she had also had the highest power level ever recorded for a female Saiyan shortly before her death. Even in school Celera had been unusually strong for a female. She had not been invited to the tournament because she was known to have been with a lover even before she graduated and the Saiyan queen was expected to be virginal. Patara growled irritably; the king certainly hadn't been though.
Bardock growled, still shaken by the vision. Was he really destined to mate with Patara or had he just been without a mate for so long that he had simply fantasized about his queen? Unlike many of his other visions he felt as if he were actually there, he remembered scents and even the taste of her that he couldn't have known, and yet everything had been so clear... She was the one woman he couldn't possibly have. There was no way that it could happen, for him to touch her was to betray his race itself. She was married to King Vegeta; no other man was allowed to touch her, to do so would mean his death... possibly hers as well.
The scarred Saiyan turned around and bumped right into his queen. Again he found himself entranced by her, even angry and obviously distracted, she was incredibly beautiful. He saw her eyes snap up to glare at him and he growled, aware that she had seen him sitting there like an idiot.
"Taking a nap?" Patara growled, trying not to blush, knowing she had been staring at him, or at least the spot where he had been sitting, appreciating how handsome he was. He was third class and she wasn't just an elite, she was Queen, she had no business thinking about him. The very idea was absurd; they only had two years to get ready for Frieza!
Bardock found himself blushing, and unable to look at her, or answer. He pushed past her and into the outer training area. "W-what is this place?" He breathed.
"Our training ground." Patara grunted. "Now, I want to see for myself how strong you are, Major. I don't want you to hold anything back, I already know you have a power level too high to be third class. The missions that you have survived are proof enough of that."
The queen shifted into a fighting stance, her graceful tail flickered behind her for just a moment before it wound itself back around her waist again. Her face was a mask of concentration but her eyes burned into his with confidence and pride. Bardock smirked, as he settled into a similar stance and awaited her first move.
The queen was fast enough that he missed it when she finally moved. Patara blurred, and buried her fist in the armor of his abdomen. She smirked as he doubled over and slammed her knee up into his face. As he went reeling from the force of her attack, she swept him, and scowled down at him. "I thought I gave you an order not to hold back."
Bardock stared at her. The speed with which she moved was incredible, and for her lithe body to possess the strength to throw him around like that, was amazing. They would both be able to enhance their powers quickly, for she was stronger than he had hoped she would be. She had to be at least at 10,000, possibly higher, if she was holding back. "I am sorry my queen, but your last recorded power level was 5,000. I had to know that I would not hurt you if I followed your orders."
She glared at him. "I have a power level of 12,000 if you really must know, Major. In the time I have been queen I have had little to do besides train, but it doesn't do for the monarchy to report important numbers like that, you know. With the nobles up in arms over Frieza and my husband pretending they don't matter- I have been exhausting myself training just to get to sleep every night" But never mind that! All that matters now is beating Frieza, and..."
"The nobles? You mean the other Elites are-"
Patara interrupted him coldly. "The elite clans have not been truly been united since the war with the Truffles ended, Major. The clans leaders all believe they should lead. When it comes time for a ceremony or public appearance they all come and stand next to the throne and pledge their loyalty, but one of them, a warrior named Brock has been gathering supporters to lay claim to the throne for years. My husband knew, but never did anything to silence them. Now that Frieza has my son... Brock will attempt to force me to attack Frieza, so, if this training doesn't work..."
"W-well, what about the King- none of the other elites are as strong as he is-"
"My husband is dead, remember?? Frieza sent me his head in the little box you warned me not to open!!" Patara snarled, then she realized he hadn't known. Both of them stood there stunned for a moment.
The king was dead?? Bardock blinked. "Frieza sent you his head..."
"Yes. I am the only member of the royal family that is still free of his grasp and I am only the queen. All Brock has to do is marry me and he will have the throne."
"But he can't force you into marrying him."
"The laws of Vegetasei will force me to marry. In times of civil unrest or under threat of attack, the Saiyans can't be without a king. The queen must marry to provide a stable ruler, who will have a legitimate claim to the throne. My son would still be heir apparent, but until he is old enough to rule, the nobles will not take him seriously, regardless of how powerful he is. I will have to marry, and if Brock is the only warrior to invoke the law, there won't even have to be a fight... Brock is very powerful, some say he is as strong as my husband, since he has been training in secret... none of the elites will stand up to him with Napa off planet guarding my son."
"You would consider marrying Commander Napa?"
"Yes, I know he's about as bright as a brick, but he is loyal to the crown, not to mention that he is an elite, and a great fighter. He was raised in the palace with my husband, they were best friends and I know that Napa never liked or trusted Brock. He tried to help me convince Vegeta to fight Brock, let the bastard challenge for the throne and kill him, but Vegeta is- was never afraid of Brock, never cared what he was up to or saying about him to the other nobles..."
Bardock smirked. "Yes, but I see you neglected to mention Napa's striking good looks and charm with the ladies, though."
Patara gave a low, savage growl, her long tail slowly unwound from her waist and flickered like that of an angry rattlesnake. "My responsibility to my station happens to be more important than whether or not I can stand the thought of ever sleeping with him, as if that would be any of your business anyway. Besides, I was already married to the best looking Saiyan there is and believe me, there were plenty of times where our king wasn't very charming, either. Now, if you will excuse me, I am going to go take a shower and go to bed, and the next time I see you, you had better be ready to fight, or I can guarantee that I will kill you tomorrow."
"Napa??" He whispered to himself, still grinning. "Oh yeah, like that idiot would ever know what to do with a woman like you... You are always beautiful, but when you're looking at me like that..." Bardock shivered and found himself purring as he watched the fiery Saiyan queen walk back inside. Her long hair was braided so that it reached the small of her back, almost like a second tail. Her hips swayed gracefully, hugged by that skin tight bodysuit and armor. Her long fuzzy tail still flickering angrily though, he wanted to grab that tail and pet it until the silky fur wasn't puffed up and she was begging him to take her. He closed his eyes, but quickly reopened them as he saw her in his arms, naked, again. That perfect body shining with sweat, her eyes mostly closed, looking at him with urgent passion, and desire... "You don't know it yet, but you'll be mine, woman, and no other will ever touch you again. You won't want anyone else."

In a darkened room on Vegetasei, a huge warrior stood before a view screen displaying the Emblem of Frieza's empire. With long spiky black hair and terrible scars, Brock was fearsome, even by Saiyan standards, but there were two things in life that he really feared. One was King Vegeta. And the other, was living in the shadow of the afore mentioned ruler. Brock was another descendant of the ancient Super Saiyans and his great great grand father had been the ruler of the largest of the Saiyan clans before that upstart who came to be known as the first King Vegeta deposed him and led the Saiyans to attack the truffles, wiping them out completely. The bastard had stolen their throne, taken his birthright and forced them to bow to the wishes of an offworlder.
At least, that was how Brock used to feel. Now that he had his own business with Frieza, he was finding it quite profitable to follow the orders of the tyrant. Brock didn't like the arrogant way that Frieza looked at him, but it would be a small matter, once he was king. Once he was married to the queen he would silence the bickering among the nobles alright, but he had every intention now of continuing their dealings with Frieza.
Patara should've been his bride in the first place, Brock told himself angrily. They were only making things official now, he chuckled maliciously. A breeze swept through the room, from the open window and he shivered as it whispered across the four deep claw marks on his right cheek. The little bitch had gotten stronger since becoming queen. Apparently King Vegeta enjoyed some really interesting sex games with his beautiful queen. He growled at the thought of anyone touching her, but silenced it quickly. he would make her regret every time her husband had touched her, but first he had to marry her or he wouldn't be king.
Brock's huge hand touched the vicious scratches Patara had given him several weeks ago when he had seen her privately and asked her to betray the King and give control of their race back to the Saiyans. There had been rumors for years that the King and Queen had been barely speaking, so he had no idea that the little bitch would get so angry. She had refused everything he had said, and when he grabbed her and tried to stop her from leaving, she surprised him again. She hadn't called for the guards until she had clawed his face and racked him, as powerful as he was; he had been unable to get up. The Queen was easily the strongest female Saiyan he had ever seen. He smirked, when they were married, she would give him a fine heir. The bitch was strong and moved with astonishing speed, but he wouldn't let her surprise him like that again, whether she liked it or not, she would be his, one way or the other...
The view screen flicked itself on, drawing Brock from his thoughts. The pasty visage of the pale pink tyrant stared at him looking bored. "What do you want?"
"I-I wanted to be sure that we are still in agreement- about our arrangement."
Frieza smiled slowly. The tyrant's garnet eyes were almost glowing with malice, the sight was chilling, even though Brock didn't want to admit it. The ice-Jin was more terrifying than anything he had ever seen before. "Yes. King Vegeta is dead, and the Prince is in my care, where I intend to keep him indefinitely so the woman you may do with as you please, I suppose. After all, you did kindly inform me that your king was attempting to reclaim his little brat. And as long as you don't get any similar ideas about...disagreeing with me or my orders, I believe that I might be able to find some use for you."
"Thank you, Lord Frieza."
"You don't have to thank me." Frieza purred, but before Brock could say anything else, the screen went blank, displaying the crest of his clan after a moment of silence.
