How it all began- part 5.

Vegeta floated lifelessly in the regeneration tank, Zarbon and the ship medic watching over him. “I’ll heal, I’ve come back from even worse.” Vegeta thought angrily, like he was trying to talk to them.

“Well, lets get him healthy again so we can find out where he hid that dragonball.” Zarbon said smugly.

He was pleased that he’d been the one to catch Vegeta. “Any news on Tanya?” Asked the medic.

“No, Frieza won’t let me send out a search party and he won’t let me go look for her. I’m worried Apul, Dodoria could have done anything to her.”.

“OH come on, that didn’t bother you a couple of years ago. It didn’t even bother you that she was your daughter either.”.

“I told you! Never bring that up!”.

“OK, OK. But that did teach you one valuable lesson. Learn to keep it in your pants. Tanya is a beautiful woman, and any man would want her but…”.

“I SAID SHUT UP! I’m going to tell Frieza I’m going to find my daughter.”.

Zarbon stormed out, leaving Apul to deal with Vegeta. “I still say it eats him up that he did it. Sometimes, I think you care about Tanya more than he does.” Said Apul.

“You’re probably right Apul, you’re probably right.” Thought Vegeta, thinking back to what had happened when he found Tanya, that night.

~~~Flashback.~~~
Tanya came out of the bathroom, wearing a long nightdress, her dark brown her falling in waves down her back. Vegeta sat on the bed and she sat next to him. He looked into her eyes and saw that the golden shine in them was gone. It was like she had been stripped of more that her virginity, it was like her soul had gone. She stared at the floor, not saying anything. “I know this won’t make things better, but…happy birthday Tanya.” Said Vegeta, handing her the anklet.

Tanya took it from him, then faced him and gave him a weak smile. She brought her leg up and fastened the anklet around her ankle. It fit perfectly. “Tanya. I need to know what happened. I can’t help you if you won’t tell me.” Said Vegeta.

“What’s the point. Rape is an art form here, they’ll just ask why it took so long. But I can’t believe it was…my father who allowed them to do it.” Said Tanya.

Vegeta clenched his fists, he was seething with anger. “I’ll get him for this.” He hissed.

“NO! No Vegeta. I don’t want you to get hurt because of this, because of me.” Said Tanya.

“Tanya, you can’t let him get away with this.”.

“Well to be perfectly honest Vegeta, you’re the only one that cares. And I’m thankful there’s at least one man on this whole stinking planet I can still trust.”.

Tanya put her hand on his forearm. Vegeta looked at her and saw that some of the shine in her eyes had come back. It pleased him to know that he had given her some comfort.

“I’ve got to heal. As soon as I heal, I’ll take revenge on them all!”.

Tanya and Gohan saw the village. “Oh no. Tanya, it’s been decimated.” Said Gohan.

“Come on, let’s see what’s down there.” Said Tanya, as they began to fly towards the ground.

They landed in the destroyed village, eyeing the destroyed houses and plants. “Golly, what a big mess.” Said Gohan, running over to the fields.

“Defiantly, this is Vegeta’s handiwork alright.” Said Tanya, going into one of the houses.

There were no signs of the dragonball, any of the Namekians, nothing. The village was dead. “Gohan, there’s nothing here. We better find the dragonball and get back to Bulma.” Said Tanya.

“Yeah, I’ll check the radar.” Gohan said gloomily.

He clicked the radar a few times. “Hey Tanya, look at this. The signal goes off shore.”.

“What? That means it’s in the lake.” Said Tanya.

“Defiantly Vegeta’s work. He did find the dragonball and he hid it here in the lake.”.

“Come on Tanya, let’s go for a swim.” Said Gohan, getting more excited by the second.

They jumped in and swam around. It wasn’t long before they saw a sparkling at the bottom of the lake. There, hidden under some rocks, was the four star dragonball. “WHOPI!” Yelled Gohan, then a little squid sprayed ink in his face.

Tanya couldn’t help but laugh. They surfaced. “We got you.” Gohan said happily.

“Great work kid. Now, let’s get back to Bulma.” Said Tanya and they sped off back towards the cave.

~~~Back in Frieza’s spaceship, in the control room.~~~

“So Zarbon, tell me, how’s he doing?” Said Frieza.

“Well, it seems he should recover very soon.” Said Zarbon.

“Then you should be grateful.”.

“Yes sir. But I came to tell you that…Huh, AHH. WHAT, WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS THAT!”.

He was referring to the great rumble that just rocked the ship. “Find out.” Frieza demanded.

~~~In the Med room~~~

Vegeta stood on Apul’s head. "Looks like it’s your turn to spend some time in the rejuvenation tank." He laughed.

Vegeta looked around and held his hand to the wall. Frieza and Zarbon ran down to the medical part of the ship. Then, there was a large explosion. "Great, it came from the recovery room!" Yelled Zarbon.

"Well don’t just stand there!" Yelled Frieza.

Zarbon rushed to the doors and opened them, and his eyes widened in shock. "He’s gone. I can’t BELIEVE IT!" Yelled Zarbon.

He ran over to the huge hole in the wall. "Find him, you hear me Zarbon." Yelled Frieza.

"I’ll find him." Zarbon snarled.

"You better, because if you don’t find him within the hour, you’ll wish you’d never been born.".

Behind one of the generators, Vegeta couldn’t help but smirk. "Those fools don’t even realise I’m right behind them.".

With that in mind, Vegeta sped off down the halls, until he came to Frieza’s main control room. He opened the door and laughed. "Frieza, you were a fool to think you could outwit me. Once I steal these dragonballs, I’ll be unstoppable. Vegeta will rule the universe.".

Vegeta smiled even wider. "Who’s laughing now?".

Zarbon was livid. "Vegeta! Where are you saiyan, huh? If I could only get my hands on you, I’d tear you limb from limb!" Zarbon yelled.

"Haven’t found him yet, eh Zarbon?" Frieza shouted up.

Zarbon looked at him in fear, though it was masked by his anger. "Like I said, you have one hour to find him, then I’ll make you take responsibility for his escape.".

Zarbon gulped and continue to circle the ship.

"Let’s see. What would be the best way to get these dragonballs out of here." Vegeta said to himself.

He ran to the door and checked to see if anyone was coming. He clenched his fist and a blue aura surrounded it as he began to charge his energy. "There now, keep powering up.".

Vegeta stepped out into the hall. "Hey! You guys looking for someone!" He yelled.

Frieza turned around at the sound of Vegeta’s shout. "WHAT WAS THAT!?" Zarbon yelled from outside.

Vegeta fired the energy blast down the hallway. It spread through the ship and exploded, almost singeing an unsuspecting Zarbon, who was speeding towards the ship. "HOW DARE YOU!" Zarbon screamed.

Vegeta watched as it rebounded and came back at him. He ducked back in and fired another blast at the window. It melted the glass instantly and the blast went into the distance. Frieza and Zarbon were running back towards the main room. "It sounded like the blast came from this way, just a little farther down the hall!" Zarbon was saying.

He was abruptly cut off as there was another explosion right in front of them. "WHAT. Oh no, I bet Vegeta’s going after the DRAGONBALLS!"

Vegeta through a dragonball through the window. He through another and another until all five were gone. "There, that should do it." Vegeta said, as he blasted through the giant hole in the window.

Frieza and Zarbon arrived at the control room. "MY DRAGONBALLS, WHERE ARE MY DRAGONBALLS!?!?" Yelled Frieza.

"AHHHHHAHHAH, VEGETA!" Screamed Zarbon.

He shot out of the window. "WHERE DID YOU RUN OFF TO, HUH! Where did you run off to.".

Vegeta hid behind a rock and listened to Zarbon’s irate screams. "VEGETA!! WHEN I FIND YOU YOU’LL BEG FOR MERCY!".

It was safe to say, Frieza was more ticked off than Zarbon. "WHAT ARE WAITING FOR YOU FOOL! DON’T YOU THINK YOU’VE MESSED UP ENOUGH!?! GO FIND HIM, NOW!".

"Yes sir.".

Vegeta snickered behind his hiding place. "Let’s see if they can find me down here. If I fly away, they’ll be sure to see me. Good thing I can always outsmart those nimwits.".

Vegeta stepped into the water and swam off to find the dragonballs.

~~~Back on Frieza’s ship.~~~

“Stop apologising and get your act together. You’re a disgrace of a warrior; you don’t deserve to be near me.”.

Frieza was enraged. He’d already slapped Zarbon across the face with his tail, and was now verbally abusing him. “I can’t believe I ever counted on you to take care of anything important. Now my dragonballs have been stolen and Vegeta is missing. Have I left anything out Zarbon?” Frieza yelled.

“No.” A defeated Zarbon said.

“Well, you just better hope you can get those dragonballs back for me. Like I said, you have one hour.”.

Frieza growled and lifted his tail from the floor. The floor was cracked. “*Gulp* Yes sir.” Zarbon said quietly.

He quickly flew out of the hole in the ships window.

Vegeta continued to swim through the water. Many sea creatures swam out of his way. He saw sunlight and began to swim to the surface. Taking a big breath of air, he climbed on to the shore. “Those dragonballs have to be around here somewhere.” Vegeta said.

He walked forward and it wasn’t long until he spotted the five dragonballs. “Ha ha, all five of them landed right here together. What a major league I’ve got.”.

He looked towards the other four. “With the one I hid in the lake, that makes 6. Just one more to go.”.

Vegeta couldn’t help but laughed, he’d just outwitted ‘The almighty Frieza’. “Frieza, you fool. I can’t believe you and that longhaired sissy thought you could outdo me. Just look who’s holding the cards now.”.

Then, he felt a semi-large power go by. “Big power reading, is it Zarbon?” Vegeta thought out loud.

He went to get a better look. “No it’s not quite as strong as Zarbon’s is.”.

Vegeta then recognised the power reading, it was Krillin. “The earthling, Krillin. But what’s he doing on planet Namek?”.

Then, he smirked. “Oh well, at least I know where the last dragonball is. Thanks for finding it for me, puny earth man.”.

Vegeta laughed evilly and took off after Krillin. Krillin however, hadn’t noticed that Vegeta was following him. “Oh yeah, now I’m jamming.” He said happily, too busy concentrating on his new powers to notice anything else.

Vegeta was hot on his heels, so how Krillin couldn’t notice him is anybody’s guess. “Well, it looks like the little runt is looking for the dragonballs too. As if he stands a chance against the likes of Frieza and me.” Vegeta said smugly.

“Oh well, guess it can’t hurt to try, or can it?”.

Elsewhere, not far away from Krillin and Vegeta, Zarbon was looking around frantically for any sign of the saiyan prince. “Where is he, where is Vegeta hiding? If I only had my scouter, I’d find him in a heartbeat.” Zarbon said angrily.

All around him, there were sounds, but no sound was greater than his terrified heart beating. “If I don’t find him and soon, I’ll have to answer to Frieza.”.

Then, Zarbon heard something. When he turned around, he saw Krillin. “That’s the guy that saved the kid earlier, where did he get a dragonball?”.

He flew around a rock. “I’d lay a wager that Vegeta’s somewhere near by.”.

Zarbon was right, as he turned around he saw Vegeta right on Krillin’s tail. “You’re not getting away. Not this time.”.

From behind him, Vegeta sensed Zarbon. “Zarbon, the green haired goon. Let’s just see him try and stop me. I’ll bet anything that he’s still cocky from our last fight. To bad he doesn’t know that defeating a saiyan warrior, makes the saiyan stronger.”.

“I can’t wait to show Krillin what we got.” Said Gohan happily.

“Yeah, I know. He’s gonna be real proud of you kid.” Said Tanya.

Then, Tanya sensed something up ahead. “Krillin, Vegeta and my father. Oh no.”.

“Hey Gohan, I’m gonna fly on ahead. Will you hang back for a minute?” Tanya asked him.

“Why, is something wrong? Are Krillin and Bulma OK?” Gohan asked worriedly.

“Easy Gohan, they’re OK for now. I sense something following Krillin. I just want to check it out. It may be unfriendly, so you hang back and protect the dragonball. OK Gohan?”.

“OK Tanya, be careful.”.

“I always am. OK, see you soon.”.

~~~Half an hour later.~~~~

Bulma sat outside reading a magazine. But as she saw Krillin land, she screamed and fell backwards. “Bulma, it’s me.” Said Krillin.

Bulma peaked out from behind the rock. Then her fear disappeared and she began yelling at Krillin. But soon, she noticed the dragonball. “Wow, the dragonballs here sure are big. Where did you get it?” Asked Bulma as she stared at her reflection in the dragonball.

“From the eldest Namek who they called Guru.” Said Krillin.

Then, he remembered. “Hey, are Gohan and Tanya here. I want to take you all to meet Guru.” Said Krillin.

“No, the terror duo went to find another dragonball. We saw one on the radar, it was close to the village that Vegeta attacked.” Said Bulma.

“But, are you sure they’re safe. ‘Cause if they need me to help them, I’m ready.”.

“Stop your worrying because it looks like they’re back.”.

“Hey, that’s not them.”.

Out from the sky, Vegeta began to descend towards them. “IT’S VEGETA!!!” Bulma and Krillin screamed in union.

Vegeta landed with a small thud on the ground. Krillin stood in front of Bulma. “Well, you would look at what I’ve found here. To be perfectly honest with you, I didn’t think you two would make it all the way to Namek.” Said Vegeta.

Bulma began backing towards the cave, Krillin not far behind. “And it seems you have just what I’m looking for. Hand over the dragonball chrome dome.”.

Krillin handed the dragonball to Bulma. “Bulma, I’m gonna distract him. While I do that, you take the dragonball and find Gohan and Tanya.” Krillin whispered, thinking Vegeta couldn’t hear him.

But Vegeta could hear every word Krillin was saying to her. “But, what if you get hurt?” Bulma asked, her voice trembling in fear.

“I’ll be fine, just go as soon as you get the chance.” Krillin told her, him trying to sound brave.

Krillin was about to attack, when Vegeta turned his head and said. “Well, we have company. Looks your plans to get away have been postponed.” Vegeta said, making Krillin jump in surprise.

But the next surprise was Zarbon appearing out of no where, turning gracefully in the air and hovering up there for a few seconds. “Who is that?” Asked Bulma, blushing slightly.

“He’s my father Bulma. But believe me, you don’t want to get to attached.” Said a voice.

“Tanya!” Yelled Krillin.

Tanya flew down to Bulma and Krillin. “You two OK?” Asked Tanya.

“Yeah, but where’s Gohan?” Asked Krillin.

“I told him to hang back. It’s a good thing I did. Hello father.”.

“Tanya. I’m so glad you’re alright.” Said Zarbon.

“Yeah, sure. Hello Vegeta, it’s been a long time.”.

“Hello Tanya, good to see you.” Said Vegeta.

Next time: The battle between Vegeta and Zarbon gets underway. Tanya and Krillin plan to let Bulma escape with the dragonball, while Gohan, sensing danger, tries to get to the battle field.
