I NEVER GIVE UP

Chapter 24

Bra awoke with a sick feeling in her heart, her hand reaching out, to hit the alarm near her. She glanced at the time and blinked. NO. She looked around the room. *Mark where are you* reached out with her new bond searching. No answer returned to her. She paled. He had left for the hospital already. She jumped out of the bed. Bra was dressing as fast as she could and rushed for the door. There had to be a chance to stop him. There just had to be! She had not come this far to lose him now.



Pan screamed as she banged on the gravity room door "Vegeta! You had better let me in there. I am not leaving with out my daughter!" There was no answer." Pan was getting nervous. Bulma had told her that Vegeta had not emerged since the attack hours ago. Not a sound was heard. What was he doing with Aiko now? The more Pan thought about it the more desperate she was becoming. As soon as she had instant transmission Trunks and herself to Capsule corps they had been ambushed by a panicked Bulma. Vegeta was locked in the gravity room with Aiko and Bra had taken a time capsule. It had been a good thing that Bulma had they all directly linked to the main computer system in case of just such and energy. Bulma showed Trunks the date and the shock was immediate.

"She is going to try and stop Mark form doing the surgery." Trunks grabbed the paper from his mother.

Bulma nodded "I have no idea what kind of shift in the time field will be. I have no idea what she is planning. To avert Mark's death is obvious. But she won't leave him in that time... or maybe she will and return here. I am not sure. She has hardly spoken to me or anyone else for that matter since he died. She has been to deeply depress over the entire event."

Trunks looked at his mother. "Get the other time capsule prepped I am going after her."

Bulma gasped "Do you think that is wise, Trunks. I mean Bra is a loose cannon, but what are you going to do about it. You could ruin things just as easily as she can."

Trunks shook his head. "I know she will go to the hospital. If I can catch up with her there, before she reveals herself to anyone, maybe I can get her to return with me and leave things alone." Trunks looked at and annoyed Pan "And then we can overt any impending disaster."

Pan had raged back "What about Aiko? Your Dad is not going to hand her over to me. It will be hard enough with you right there with me. If I ask him for her it will be like a colossal joke!"

Trunks framed Pan's face and looked deep in her eyes "My father is not going to hurt Aiko. But this time traveling business is very serious. I need to get this done first. Aiko is safe."

Pan frowned as she stopped pounding on the door, and rested her forehead to the cool metal. With those words her husband had rushed off with Bulma leaving her to fish Aiko out of Vegeta's hands. Looking up at the ceiling she admitted things were not going well. Vegeta had yet to answer let show himself. She sure hoped that Trunks was having better luck on his mission.



Melody looked over at her father as he drove. She was still trying to figure a way to make her father crack. There was obviously thing he had yet to tell her about her mother, Gina Devero. She decided to open the subject in an acceptable manner. It was a touchy subject. One that Melody had been sure to tip toe around with both her parents. Now was good a time as any. "Daddy?"

Jonathan looked over at his daughter and smiled. There was great love in those eyes "What is it Poppet."

Melody sighed and asked "Why didn't you and Mom ever get married?"

Jonathan frowned and looked ahead to the road before him "Things just never worked out baby."

Melody could have stomped her feet in her frustration. He was going to make this hard. Well she could wring what she wanted from him. Out of both her parents Jonathan was the weakest link and Melody was just the person to exploit this fact. It was time to learn what Gina was hiding from her. There had to be more of a reason to keep her and Mark separated then just the simple bad influence Gina had handed her. "What was so horrible that you couldn't overcome it? I mean I thought love conquers all?"

Jonathan nodded "I have heard that to, but in my life time I have never seen it. In fact, I doubt love truly exists. I don't mean to upset you, Poppet. But this idea of there is one person for everyone is fanciful and I don't want you falling prey to that kind of dream like I did."

"You mean with mother." Melody moved him along. It was obviously he wanted to drop the subject. Melody was not going to let that happen. Too much was riding on this.

"Yes." Jonathan relented. "I was young and stupid. Your mother was and in my person opinion still is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. But I met her when she was still married to Anthony Devero." He looked a bit distant as he said the other man's name.

"You knew Marks' father?" Melody sat up her jaw dropping.

"Not really I worked for him." Her father answered off handedly

Melody could hardly contain her shock. Where her parents having an affair even then? She didn't dare ask. "I never knew you were in business. You don't really seem like the type, Dad."

Jonathan laughed "No I flew the company jet for a while."

Melody paled. "The Jet." The papers she had read about mark said his father had died in a plane crash. She slipped back in her seat and tried to keep her breathing even. No it was not possible. She shook her head. There was no way her father and mother had plotted to kill Anthony Devero, was there?

Pan had had it. She was not waiting a moment more she lifted her leg right along with her ki and kicked in the gravity room door "I have had it Vegeta." She shouted. Each word was emphasized with a harsh foot against he metal as it bent in ward on his precious gravity room. "GIVE - ME - MY - DAUGHTER....?" In stunned horror she looked around. The room was empty. She glanced around and then ran back down the hall in search of Bulma. Where could he have take Aiko? She was going to kill some one of she didn't see her baby girl soon.
