Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Inadequate ❯ Prolugue ( Chapter 1 )
ooooh for once anouther character feels below his power. this time it's not Vegeta. time to give Goten some cred. you can thank a thunder storm for this one.
Chapter One: Reflection
Goten sat on a high rocky cliff that overlooked the ocean. The turbulent waves hammered the rocky shore below him. Rythmic pattering of rain poured down along with the clapping of lighting and thunder. Only the most broken of people would be out on such a night as this. This man was indeed broken in spirit. Goten leaned his head back hoping that the rain with cleanse his pain and humiliation away.
"Are they all really so far above me?" Goten questioned to the raging storm. The weight of his inadequatecy to the other earthly saiyans had finally fully set into him. He realized that he was in no comparision to them. Even his niece had surpassed him now. today she had achieved Super Saiyan 2. This surely was an achievement to make an Uncle proud, instead it had made him bitter because the last of his pride was gone. This, however, was not the start of his inadequatecy. It had started to set in after Buu's defeat. Trunks and himself had started to trian with Vegeta everyday so that they could be stronger. As Trunks and Vegeta grew stronger he did not. He stopped trianing with them when he realized he was slowing them down. He enrolled himself in highschool as a Freshman after that. He thought that maybe studying like his brother had would mask his pain as well. Gohan's pain of the loss of his father was stopped by studying, but Goten's feelings never stopped. In school he did find a momentary reliever of his pain. Women, lots of women, and sex with lots of women. The only time he had felt better was during a sexual encounter. his days of sleeping around were done now though. Once agian those old feelings began to stir as he watched his friends and family surpass him. He could be stronger, he knew he could, but why did he not grow more powerful. Could he be a great warrior, or just a boy who lived in the shadow of his father?
Goten stood up on the cliff. He would make his mission known now. He would confess it to the storm. Goten opened his mouth to speak and felt the cold rain water that had covered his face slid into his mouth.
"Today i vow that i will be stronger. No longer will i live under the wieght of my father's technique. i will find my own path, my own way of fighting, my own identity." Goten shouted calmly through the whistling winds of the storm. His eyes locked with the sky because he knew that somewhere out there was a master that could truely tell him what he needed to know. Goten took the famous stance of the Kamehameha wave and started to charge it.
"This will...be the last time i use this wave."
"KAAAAMEEEEHAAAMEEEHAAAAAAAAAAA!" Goten fired the powerful wave out over the ocean making the rain that came down in thin sheets part to it's power. Goten held the wave for as long as he could he finally stopped after he felt drianed and empty of it's weight. Goten took off high into the sky towards west city. Everyone had told Goten how dangourous flying in a thunder storm was, but it no longer mattered to him. He loved dodging the lighting bolts and the adrenline rush he got from doing it. he was having so much fun he circled West City twice before he finally landed at Capsule Corp. He trudged into the warm dry air of Bulma's house. Bulma walked from the kitchen drying her hands on a dish towel.
"Trunks i told you that...oh!" Bulma chirped angrily until she noticed that it was not her son, but Goten standing in the doorway.
"Your all wet i'll get you a towel." Before Goten could decline the offer Bulma was gone. She came back with a fluffy green towel. He really felt no need to dry off, but he did anyway.
"Bulma i need you to make me a ship..."
