Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Inadequate ❯ Chapter Seven: ( Chapter 7 )
Goten laid down on his new unfamiliar bed. The sun had long since gone down since his arrival. Small fires dotted the large encampment; around each one you could find a group of soldiers. Occasionally a soldier or two would wander in and lay on their bunks. Everything was so different here to him. The smell, the weather, and the people every thing was so different. Goten began to grow bored with trying to decipher the murmured chitchat outside and let sleep claim him. Goten was jerked awake by a hand slapping the side of his face. Right away he shot up, he was confused his vision was blurry and it seemed everything was moving. Around him he could hear men screaming orders in their rough husky voices. When his vision finally cleared of all remaining remnants of sleep. He saw his captain, the man that had always stared at him so coldly, glaring down at him with his sword in hand.
"Get up now!" Spyre yelled angrily at him. "Hurry up and defend your camp!" The captain jogged hurriedly towards the exit of the tent. Goten swiftly yanked the blanket off of his legs, and ran out behind another group of soldiers. Outside the bright flare of flames caught in his eyes. Tents were on fire everywhere.
"Hey! Watch it!" Goten was shoved down on the ground. Right where he had stood was a small smoking crater.
`A ki blast?' Goten thought to himself. Rand pulled Goten up jerking him into reality again.
"Come on follow me!" Rand ordered. Goten followed him as he swerved through the other soldiers. Goten found himself standing at the gate where he had entered. The large wooden doors seemed to have been blown off. One of the men he had met there was lying on the ground with his limbs splayed in odd positions.
"Well I hope you're a good fighter, Goten. I can't keep an eye on you all the time." Rand crouched down slightly after warning Goten and drew his sword. Rand charged forward outside the gate yelling in a fierce war cry.
"Don't just stand there, kid. Die in glorious battle!" It was the same bald man that he had met that morning. He nodded to Goten as he too ran out through the broken gate. Goten hesitated for a moment. He never would have imagined that he would've been this scared in the face of a massive battle. Goten slowly flicked the sword out it's sheath slightly with his thumb. With one last breath Goten hesitantly jogged forward. Outside of the gate he slid against the wall. It looked like fireworks, the ki blasts were beautiful but Goten knew people were being hurt. Goten growled and floated up the slippery mud hill. Goten gasped and stopped dead in his tracks as he saw the beings he had to face. His knees began to shake. His opponent had short spiky black hair, and small black horns jutted from his scalp. Embedded on the creatures face were two red stripes above each eyebrow. The hybrids eyes narrowed at Goten.
"I know what you are, Frieza told us, you are spawn of Kakorrot…" the hybrid giggled in it's low, yet childish voice. The rage within Goten flared. They only knew him as the son of his father.
"DON'T CALL ME THAAAAT!" Goten charged forward with his sword. His hair flicked golden for a moment. The hybrids eyes widened with shock as he saw the golden hair. So distracted by it that Goten's sword stabbed straight through his saiyan armor and dug into his heart. Goten immediately let go of the hilt and watched the hybrid fall back on his knees. Goten pulled the sword out of his body and looked it over.
"Was it truly that easy to kill you?" Goten asked the dead body as its blood dripped down the hilt and onto his hand. Goten glided deep into the battle. He wasn't as scared anymore. More and more hybrids fell before his sword. He was starting to feel good, like he could do anything. Goten Taunted the various hybrid warriors around him. They all started to close in and charged at him. Goten laughed as they fell. The laughter faded as he felt a sharp pain skimp his deltoid. Goten dropped his sword in shock, but the Hybrids continued to charge at him. Goten felt himself falling down again, but this time he was tackled. His body slid across the mud. He saw the shocked warriors fall in a volley of arrows. The soldier that had tackled him scrambled to his feet and with several swift strikes, five more warriors fell. Goten was in awe at this man's speed. He barely even saw one of his strikes. Goten grabbed his sword and immediately dug it into another hybrids neck. Goten was eager to fight behind someone this good. He wanted to see his face so he could track him down later. He felt the man grab his wrist and make the sword in it stab a warrior behind Goten. He left go and continued his onslaught. Goten got a fleeting glance at his face. He thanked the moonlight above, but only until the moment he realize that it was, none other than Spyre. Goten yelled out as a massive blast hit the back of his head making him fall to the muddy ground.
