Part 2 ~ An Attitude Adjustment

The next morning the Briefs family began the process of adjusting to Vegeta dwelling within their walls once more. Mrs. Briefs began stocking up on the foods Vegeta ate in such massive quantities. As a special treat for his sweet tooth, she had even tucked away several pounds of fine chocolate. Bulma and her dad examined the wrecked ship to determine the extent of the damage and her best options on how to remove it from her mom's flower garden. As Prof. Briefs entered the ship to get started on the repairs a rush of wind announced the arrival of Yamcha.

"So, where is he?" grumbled Yamcha.

"Good morning Yamcha. Not even a 'Hello' first? Vegeta is still asleep. I'd be surprised if we saw him before lunchtime. He was really beat yesterday." Bulma pretended to examine something on the ship because she was sure her face was a rosy shade of red from recalling just how out of it Vegeta had been after his shower.

"Bulma! How can you be so casual about this! He's not some out of town guest here for a visit, you know! He originally came to kill us all! Have you forgotten all that? I sure haven't!!"

"Good Grief Yamcha! Calm down. I haven't forgotten anything but the situation IS completely different now and like it or not, Capsule Corp is the best place for him to stay."

"Oh yeah, it's completely different!" He snaps sarcastically. "Now he's just moving in with my girlfriend and she's happy about it!"

"What is your problem!" screamed Bulma. "Are you angry because Vegeta came back or jealous because he is staying at Capsule Corp?"

"I saw the way you two looked at each other when he first arrived," Yamcha continued bitterly. "What went on between you when he lived here before? Back when I was still dead?"

Bulma could not believe what she was hearing. "THAT'S IT! You've said ENOUGH! You're the one always looking for an easy fuck, not me! LEAVE Yamcha! NOW! And don't come back until you start thinking with your head instead of your DICK!"

Bulma stormed away from Yamcha and into the house. All those months she had waited for Yamcha's return. All her hopes and dreams for their future. Her mother had often teased her that every other word she said was about how it would be when Yamcha returned. Sadly she had discovered that when Yamcha finally did return, he'd become even less faithful than he had been.

Even though she'd always been faithful to Yamcha but still his words caused her to feel guilty about watching Vegeta dream, well OK, causing his dream. ~'I rub Vegeta's back dry and it turns him on! So What! He was asleep for Kami's sake. It's not like we were messing around! Yamcha's the one with the revolving door on his apartment! So why am I feeling guilty? Forget it! He's the one out of line here!'

"And HE'S the one accusing ME!!" Bulma ranted as she entered the kitchen to be greeted by her mother, "What's the matter dear? Isn't Yamcha staying for lunch?"

"No mom, he's gone! We're finished! He thinks I was fooling around with Vegeta when he lived with us before! Can you believe that! I've never gone out on him!"

"Of course not dear, but since Yamcha does have other girl friends…" Bulma sighed, ~'Isn't anything private around here?' Her mom continued smiling warmly, "Maybe it's time for you to start seeing someone else. Ya know, honey, that Vegeta is such a nice young man and handsome too don't ya think?"

Bulma had to smile at her mother's naïve approach to life. "Sure mom, he's a beautiful statue complete with a heart of stone." Mrs. Brief's eyes lit up with Bulma's very qualified agreement. "Relax mom! I'm not looking for a new boyfriend any time soon. I think I'm a little bit mad at all men right now - so NO matchmaking! Got it?"

"Oh Bulma, you know I'd never do that!" Mrs. Briefs grinned brightly. "Now why don't I pack up some of the lunch I'm making so that you and your dad can have a nice picnic while you work on that thingy in my garden? That'll help you feel better, won't it?"

Bulma sighs and smiles, "OK, but if Vegeta wakes up you'll call me? He's really not a very nice guy, mom.""Don't worry honey," giggled Mrs. Briefs, "I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to work before Vegeta wakes up. I just checked on him a bit ago when I left a little snack and a fresh change of clothes in his room. He's still sound asleep but I've made a huge lunch just in case."

He held her in his arms, their tails tightly entwined, her legs wrapped around his waist urging him deeper within her. Their moans of building pleasure echoed in his ears. She was so warm and tight around him. Her muscles squeezed him from both the inside and out. "More, I need more!" he called hoarsely to his partner, thrusting harder and deeper, her hips rising gladly to met him stroke for stroke. So close, he was so close… with a final thrust Vegeta found release crying out in the language of his dead home world, "You are my Mate, my Chosen!"

Then there was nothing. Vegeta blinked his weary eyes recognizing his room at Capsule Corp. It had all been a dream. "Well not quite all…" he mumbled as he unwrapped the messy towel from his waist and cleaned himself off.

He had not been troubled by a dream like this since puberty and he had believed he never would be again. Raditz had explained to the young Vegeta that dreams like this were a kind of dress rehearsal for when his instinctive need to mate would kick in. But why would the dream return now? There were no Saiyan females to ignite that dormant urge so that couldn't be it. Could it? No, of course not. This was just a dream - a fluke. Nothing worth loosing sleep over and that was what he needed now, sleep and lots of it. Burrowing into the sheets of his bed he let sleep take him once more.

Vegeta's sleep was filled with dreams. Most were pleasing, some were not, but one strange dream visited him again and again.

Vegeta would find himself in a field of tall grass. Around him danced a rainbow of female forms. So many colors but all with eyes of flame and lashing tails. As they danced one would spring forward to tease him, touching him softly before leaping back from his grasp. Again and again they would leap forward caressing his arms, his tail, creating such a burning desire but never could he capture one of the lithe creatures. When it felt as though he must posses one or die, all would simply spin away from his grasp and fade into mist.

Here the recurring dream would end only to return again with increasing intensity later on.

As the sun rose on his second morning back on Chikyuu, the demand for sleep finally released Vegeta's mind and body only to be overshadowed by his need for food - among other things. ~'Damn fool dreams…' Vegeta sat on the edge of his bed, his groin annoyingly hard and sensitive. ~ 'I have no time for this, and no Saiyan females either,' he thought ruefully.

Looking around he saw the covered plate and large bowl of fruit Mrs. Briefs set out for him the day before. He quickly ate the dried meat and fish he found, washing down each bite with the juicy fruit. Once his snack was finished he dressed in the clothes that had been left for him. Satisfied that his 'condition' was adequately concealed, Vegeta headed for the kitchen in search of a more filling meal.

Bulma's first clue that Vegeta was finally awake came when he appeared in her doorway demanding that she get out of bed immediately and repair the gravity control unit on his ship so that he could get back to his training! She hummed to herself, ~'Things are back to normal - I guess.'

Before Vegeta had left in search of Goku, he had constantly been appearing in the doorways of her bedroom or workroom demanding her attention for this repair or that new training device. The self-centered prince treated her and everyone else as a tool, never as a person. No way was she about to hop out of bed just because he said so!

Bulma sat up stretching her arms over and behind her head. Vegeta's eyes popped open and his breath caught in his chest as Bulma's shapely breasts pressed against the thin fabric of her nightgown. He could clearly see her nipples, soft and full with the warmth of her bed, just beginning to harden as the rooms chill reached them. He moved towards her even as he struggled to control his racing thoughts and demanding anatomy.

Her eyes had been closed as she stretched and she didn't open them until she finally felt content to face the day. She looked towards Vegeta, startled to find that he had moved into her room. "So you want a gravity chamber…" she began only to stop at his suddenly murderous expression. ~'Kami! What's set him off!' she gulped as a surge of fear ran thru her.

"Woman, I've changed my mind!" Vegeta shouted. "I want that ship fully operational as quickly as possible!" As Vegeta spun from her room he continued to roar, "Kakarott's not here so I'm going back to space until he returns!" Alone in her room again Bulma murmured, "Uh, yeah sure…" and wondered what the hell just happened.

Vegeta left Capsule Corp as quickly as possible flying to a thickly wooded area where he hoped to be able to meditate and control this absurd reaction. He had wanted her, Gods how he'd wanted her. No! This is just another weakness to be overcome. There was no way he was going to let his mind and body be ruled by a bunch of stupid hormones. He shouldn't be reacting to her at all! She's not Saiyan and she's a Mated female! All those months of listening to her sickening mooning over her 'lost love' plus that fools territorial challenge when he first arrived could leave no doubt about that! None of this made sense!

And yet… the memory of her scent filled his mind, the vision of her sitting on the bed, her firm breasts… Vegeta groaned as his body ached for her touch.

After Vegeta's strange behavior in her bedroom, Bulma decided that the sooner he was off the planet the better she would like it. Heading for the ship she began to mentally list what materials would be needed to make the ship at least minimally space worthy.

As she approached the circular craft dread flooded thru her. ~'Oh no! Dad you didn't!'

Around her goal were strewn parts, panels and pieces of who knew what vital ship components while through it all walked a very happy Prof. Briefs. As he poked here and there he made short notations on the improvements he planned. Catching site of Bulma he exclaimed like an excited child, "Look here! With just a few weeks of modifications this propulsion system will be faster and far more fuel efficient than my original design! There's room for improvement on the gravity control unit too!"

As Prof. Briefs spoke, he pointed to the various items scattered about the ground. Bulma could only sigh. With the ship now a seemingly permanent part of her mother's garden, Bulma decided to handle safety issues first. She began ordering up the equipment needed to lift and stabilize the precariously tilted craft. Once that was finished all Bulma could do was assist her dad and wait for Vegeta's return. It was obvious that the ship was not going anywhere and neither was Vegeta.

Three days later Vegeta reappeared demanding to know the progress on the repairs he had ordered. His attitude was almost more than Bulma could take but she forced herself not to snap back at him. As calmly as she could, Bulma explained that it would be 3-4 weeks before the ship was ready. Vegeta's temper blew. After listening to Vegeta shout for several minutes that there was No Way he was staying on Chikyuu for another 3 weeks Bulma began to relax, ~'He's taking this better than I thought.' Then his anger shifted. Instead of continuing to rage on at the world in general, Vegeta's temper suddenly focused on Bulma.

"Baka Woman!" Vegeta shouted, "Can't you do anything right! I told you I was leaving! Are you trying to keep me here?!"

"Keep you…? You! Arrogant!  Ass!!" screeched Bulma, stepping right into his face. "I'd personally kick your conceited butt into orbit right now if I could!"

Just as Vegeta took a breath to respond he paused, suddenly aware of how close she stood to him, her body lightly brushing against his, her scent engulfing him. He wanted nothing more than to reach out and touch her, taste those perfect lips… ~'NO! This is unacceptable, I will not yield to this!' Vegeta turned and stalked into the house shouting over his shoulder, "Just fix it!!" before he slammed the door.

Bulma saw the strange shift of expression within his eyes as he had unexpectedly paused. Her breath caught as she realized just how close to Vegeta she stood. Then he was gone and for the second time Bulma was left to wonder what the hell had just happened.

There was plenty of work that needed her full attention but Bulma found her mind wandering to more interesting things. The heat of Vegeta's body when they had stood so close, that flicker of emotion in his eyes, the way he had moaned when she…. "Argh! This is not accomplishing anything!" She decided to take a break and then hopefully return to her task with a clear mind. Perhaps a snack would do the trick.

As Bulma exited the ship she noticed - for the first time really noticed - Vegeta working-out nearby. Practicing handstand pushups and back flips that would put any gymnast to shame. His every move so precise, so powerful. Vegeta glanced at her with a scowl but Bulma smoothly continued on her trek pretending to be unaware of his presence. Once in the kitchen Bulma made a sandwich then stood near the window to nibble at her snack, continuing to watch Vegeta from the shadowed interior of the room.

Vegeta had begun shadow boxing; kicking, dodging, and throwing punches at his invisible foe. His every move a play of muscle on muscle that held Bulma's rapt attention. Without warning Vegeta froze mid-movement and turned to face the house. Bulma took an involuntary step back further into shadow but never took her eyes off Vegeta. As if they were standing five feet apart, Vegeta looked straight into her eyes. ~'He can't possibly see me,' but even as the panicked thought flit through her mind she knew it was a lie.

She held his gaze, the distance between them giving her courage. His eyes were so dark, so deep… A tingle of warmth began deep in her center and flush moved across her cheeks. She glanced away briefly, surprised at her reaction and when she looked back, Vegeta was gone.
