It Will Happen: Another Bulma & Vegeta Get Together
Chapter Three
Making Amends
"VEGETA!" Bulma called as she balanced two trays full of food in her hands. She stood outside the door of the space ship, Capsule 3, that Vegeta used to train because of the ships ability to increase the gravity.
Bulma received no welcome from Vegeta.
"Vegeta. I know you're in there so just open up would you." Bulma called. But again she was greeted with no answer, although she could just picture him stopping his training to look at the door of the space ship in annoyance.
The ship was just like the one Goku had used, when he had traveled to Namek and now Vegeta insisted it be able to increase the Gravity to three hundred times Earth's normal gravity rather than use the hundred times Goku had used. Talk about suicidal.
Bulma huffed and was about to put down the trays to open the door when Vegeta finally appeared at the open doorway.
"Can I come in?" She didn't ask because she needed his permission, but because she wanted to know if the gravity was turned down to normal.
"I'm busy. What do you want?" Taking that as a sign that the gravity was turned back to Earth's normal rate Bulma moved past Vegeta and into the space ship.
She set down the two trays on a little bench before turning around to look at Vegeta. His forehead was creased in a frown but it was not that that had Bulma staring for a while.
Dressed in a black pair of spandex shorts only, he looked incredibly sexy. 'Oh Kami, not this again.' But he did! Especially with his muscular body bulging from exertion and perspiration glittering each groove and hard plane, it was a delicious sight and Bulma unconsciously licked her lips.
Vegeta wanted to growl as Bulma licked her lips. Her pink tongue darting out to moisten her lush lips. 'Not this again!' He thought as his attention was drawn to the full curve of her mouth. But, was it just him or was she eyeing his body?
"I brought you some lunch." She said cheerily trying to focus on the purpose for her being there. Bulma uncovered two trays filled with sandwiches, cuts of chicken and roast beef with a small pitcher of orange juice.
"I'm not hungry." But at the sight and smell of the tempting food, his stomach gave a low rumble. 'Great.' He moaned, just how embarrassing did his stomach have to be.
He saw her smirk at his lie and thought how much her smirk resembled his own.
"Ok." She said sitting down on the side of the bench. She picked up a thin slice of chicken in her elegant fingers and popped it into her mouth. He watched transfixed as she licked her fingers and his mind started to think how her tongue with feel tasting his own body. 'Darn woman was even turning food into a eroticism.'
He doubted she would enjoy it very much as he was covered in sweat. He thought back to how she had basically ordered him to take a shower when he arrived back here from his trip into space in search of Kakarot. She had even had the audacity to tell him he had smelled.
Only this woman could make him think of sex just by eating a piece of meat. Pushing those sexual thoughts away he glared at her. "I thought that was my lunch."
"It is. But if you don't want it then I won't let all this delicious food go to waste." She grinned.
'The witch!' He looked at the food again before giving up being angry at her and sitting down on the other side of the bench. With the food between them Vegeta immediately began to fill his empty stomach. After all, it was her fault he had missed breakfast. "You wouldn't eat all that anyway." He told her between swallowing a mouthful and stuffing more food into his mouth.
He was right, she wouldn't but why had he said it. "What do you mean?"
He gave her a smirk before swallowing a particularly large mouthful. "I see how you starve yourself." He said simply.
Bulma's cheeks immediately reddened and her eyes sparked in anger. "I do not starve myself. And besides, its called a diet, I have to watch my figure." She said, running her hands down the sides of her.
Vegeta swallowed quickly or he would have chocked on his food from watching her outline her curves with her gesture. He didn't think there was anything wrong with her figure, in fact, he liked her figure. She was slender but not scrawny and she had a nice amount of full curves in all the right places.
"Well, I don't see why. You'll disappear if you eat any less." He told her in a typical male fashion.
Bulma was glad her cheeks were still flushed from anger or she would have a difficult time hiding the flush from his words. He thought she didn't need to loose wait. Now, coming from Vegeta, that was a compliment.
"You think I'm fine the way I am?" She asked tentatively.
Hearing the note of pleasure and uncertainty in her voice Vegeta had realized he had spoken a bit too much. "What does it matter? You're still incredibly ugly and that hair looks worst than a bush." He said to hide his earlier comment. Besides, that big hair was very ugly.
She looked offended at his words and even slightly hurt. For some odd reason he wanted to take back his words but he forced himself to ignore the notion and continue eating.
Bulma touched her permed hair. She had liked the way it had been curled and here he was calling it a bush! 'Well, what did he know about fashion anyway she was not ugly. Right?'
Pushing the insecure thoughts that only Vegeta could arouse in her Bulma said sharply, "Well, your opinion doesn't matter anyway but I'll have you know, most men think I am a very beautiful woman."
'I bet they do!' Vegeta thought as a feeling of jealously bubbled in the pit of his stomach. 'And what for?' He asked himself. 'She had a mate.' So he should not be feeling anything but indifference at her comments, though he found himself saying bitterly, "They must be blind."
Bulma was about to argue but then she remembered that now was not the time. She had come here to make up for her comments this morning. So she would not let him bait her into another verbal fight. And what should it matter if he found her unattractive? 'She didn't want him to notice her! Right?'
Instead she poured him a glass of juice and handed it to him. 'Why was she being so nice to him?' Vegeta wondered as he watched her resist the urge to spar verbally with him. She was even smiling politely at him and it made him uneasy.
At least he knew how to respond to her anger, but this, this was an unpredictable side of her he didn't like. And he did like verbally sparing with her. Intellectually she stimulated him more than any other being he had ever met.
He decided to ponder this when she wasn't around to distract him and continued to eat. After he had eaten every morsel on the trays he sat back to relax while his food digested.
"Well, you may eat as much as Goku but at least you have some table manners." She said.
He hated being compared to that clown Kakarot, but she was telling him he was better than that idiot, even if it was only over the simplicity of eating. And for some reason he felt his chest rise at the compliment.
'What the hell was going on with him? What did it matter what she thought anyway!' He got up abruptly from the bench and went over to the gravity counter.
"I have training to do." He told her bluntly.
Bulma felt him tense and only too late did she realize that she should not have compared him to Goku. She also knew that he was not going to thank her for her troubles so she got up and took the empty trays with her.
Bulma stood at the door and said, "Vegeta, about this morning, I'm really sorry, I shouldn't have been so rude."
He turned to look at her in undisguised surprise but he quickly masked it. "No, you shouldn't have." He said in his usually arrogant, 'I'm always right' way but that only made Bulma smile.
She nodded and turned towards the exit though she felt his eyes boring into her back. She turned her head slightly to the side so she could look at him. And as she had expected his head was also turned towards her.
"Now that we're even, don't expect this all the time." She said with a smile and was genuinely surprised to see him smile back at her. A real smile, not a sarcastic smirk or an evil grin. 'Wow, I should bring him lunch more often.' Bulma thought as she noticed how attractive he looked when he smiled and how the action made her tummy drop.
He nodded before turning back to adjusting the gravity of the ship and Bulma left, a feeling of happiness washing over her.
* * *
BOOM!!!
"What the hell was that?" Bulma yelled as she jumped of the couch that she had been relaxing on.
Though she already knew the answer and she ran outside with Yamcha hot on her heels.
She looked in horror as the Capsule ship Vegeta had been training in lay in pieces of rubble on the ground.
"Oh no." She muttered as she bent down to go through the rubble. Her mind was weaving all kinds of terrifying scenarios in its panicked depths. But with her heart pounding inside her chest only one thought registered in Bulma's head. 'Please let him be ok!'
But as she was about to yell at Yamcha, who just stood still as a statue behind her, to help, a large hand pushed through the debris.
Bulma yelped and flew back against Yamcha in surprise. But slowly relief washed over her as she watched Vegeta stand up from all the rubble surrounding him.
"Are you alright?" She immediately asked.
"Of course I am." He said arrogantly.
But as her sigh died Bulma got up to yell at him.
"You idiot! What were you thinking? You could have blew up the entire house!"
But all she received was an amused chuckle from the Saiyan Prince before he fell to the ground. Without thinking Bulma ran over to him and lifted his upper body into her arms. He did not push her away though he looked at her in pain.
"I don't need any help." He said.
"Look, I know you're a tough guy, but you're hurt and you need some rest." She said soothingly as if talking to a child.
"No, I'm fine." He said adamantly. "I'm a Saiyan, I can take a little pain and I must get stronger than Kakarot." He looked over at Yamcha who was staring at Bulma and Vegeta in utter bewilderment. But as Yamcha's reaction changed from to disbelief to irritation Vegeta couldn't help but think that the other man had wished Vegeta would just have stayed under all that rubble.
Noticing this Vegeta found his best cold voice and what little strength he had to push Bulma away from him. "I won't be told what to do." He said before standing up. 'Well not anymore!' He added to himself.
Those years of being Frieza's slave was finally over and he did not plan to take orders from anyone. Least of all a pathetic female.
But before he could take even one step forward he fell flat on his face, unconsciousness, pain and fatigue taking over him.
Authors Note: Ok, so I just couldn't help myself! I had to include a snippet of the explosion of Capsule 3. I felt it really showed how much Bulma cared for Vegeta.
But I felt it also showed how much he was ensnared by her, not only had he laid in her arms but he had looked at her so intensely and spoke to her truthfully.
Not that his goal of surpassing Goku was a secret, it was just the way he seemed to open up (and I am using the term in Vegeta language - so pretty loosely from a man who rarely shows emotions or weakness) to her that I enjoyed. Until he looked over at Yamcha.
Now I have had this story in the making for a while though I was not one hundred percent sure if I was ready to post it. I've noticed a lot of people like to think Vegeta is completely emotionless a lot of the time and rarely ever speaks, I don't believe this. So I had to really debate on how much I wanted to show of Vegeta's true feelings.
I myself don't really believe he knew how deeply he felt until the Buu Saga but I don't think he was as stoic as others portray him. This, admittedly was one of my major concerns, I was afraid that it would seem like Vegeta was showing too much emotions.
But, given that Chapter Two and Three are a bit sketchy I want to encourage you to read on for I'm going to try and work the story as how I believed it played out and I guarantee you, Vegeta's more cold side will come into character later on!
I apologize for the long notes, which I don't often do, but I just want readers to be on the same wavelength as me. Vegeta and his emotions are a conflicting matter for me. Thanks for your patience and I hope you will continue to read on.
