It Will Happen: Another Bulma & Vegeta Get Together
Chapter Twelve
Strength
VEGETA stood under the hot sprays of the shower, both his palms lay flat against the wall as the water beat down on his bent head and back.
However the water couldn't ease his tense muscles. Normally, when he felt the the strain of his training, Bulma would give him a massage and her soft hands would seem to simply wipe away everything but the feel of her hands on him, the sweet scent of her and her heavy breathing as she aroused them both with her touch.
He groaned. She had become as addictive as a drug ever since he had first coupled with her. He had thought he could get her out of his system, by sleeping with her, but she refused to leave him alone.
He knew a lot about his Saiyan culture thanks to Nappa and Radditz. Like a pure blooded Saiyan's hair didn't grow from the time he or she was a baby, or that Saiyans aged at a slower rate than other species so they could fight longer and he knew about Saiyan bonding.
That's why he had tried to stay away from Bulma when he realized they had developed a telepathic bond. It was the first step to couples bonding for life. In all honesty it had scared him badly. But no matter how hard he had tried to stay away from her, his body refused to listen! He would still find himself sitting down with her for lunch everyday, lapsing in concentration while training for thinking of her, finishing training earlier at nights, always going to her bedroom and worse of all holding her in his arms all through the night.
It was becoming difficult to understand himself anymore. He used to be a simple guy who cared about nothing and no one, now he found his behavior towards the woman contradicting his personality.
Although he had never said anything to the contrary he knew she found his care for her in those small things he did.
When he had felt the energy of another being in her however, he had withdrawn from her. Vegeta still wanted to loose himself in lust and her body every night but the though of the child stopped him.
He didn't know how he felt about it. He never thought about being a father, he didn't even know if he wanted to be a father and he felt slightly angry that he now had no choice in the matter.
Everything was becoming more infuriating to him. His inexplicable lust for Bulma, his inability to become a Super Saiyan and now a child he didn't even want.
He groaned and resisted the urge to punch the wall for he knew he would crack the entire shower stall. So instead he shut of the water and dried himself off. He had been so engrossed in his thoughts he had not sensed the energy in his room.
He looked down at Bulma who was sitting on his bed, her thumb was pressed against her top teeth, something she did when she was worried or uncertain.
He knew he should have not went to her tonight or taken her or let her thoughts upset him but hell, they did! She looked up at him.
"Vegeta what's wrong?"
"What do you mean?" He asked as he threw of his towel and grabbed a pair of sweat pants.
"Why did you say what you did earlier?" She frowned at him.
"Because I meant it woman. Now get out of my room I need to sleep."
"I thought you had said after your fight with the Androids we would re asses the situation." Bulma hated repeating his words since they sounded so cold and detached, as if they were discussing nothing but an inconsequential problem rather than the life they had created, but she did so regardless of her feelings.
"I said after I fight Kakarot." He reminded her harshly.
Digressing for a moment Bulma turned on the bed so she was facing him as he leaned against his cupboards with his arms crossed on his bare chest. She couldn't help but admire the muscles on his chest which was still slightly damp from his shower or the way his hair when wet didn't stand straight up in its defiance against gravity but lay as long as her shoulder length hair in pitch black richness.
'Not now Bulma.' She mentally kicked herself.
"Are you planning on killing Goku or just defeating him in battle?" She asked. She knew his jealousy over Goku rooted a deep seeded loathing for the other man but she didn't think it was as strong as hate. Was she being delusional?
He shrugged carelessly. "I have no need to kill him." He didn't like talking about Kakarot but he was honest would her. For some reason he could never lie to her when she asked him a question with such intensity. As if she needed to know the answer.
Bulma nodded. Well she obviously couldn't continue a relationship with a man who killed her best friend and she didn't want a father like that for her child. So at his answer she felt relief wash over her heavy chest. She did not doubt his answer, when he looked into her eyes and spoke with conviction at her question, she believed him.
"Fine, whatever. So why did you say that our baby and I mean nothing to you?"
"Because it does. I've told you this already but of course you need me to spell it out to you. You were a good fuck woman but I'm really bored now. As for the brat, normally when a Saiyan is born he's sent away when he is a baby, so I don't know what do to with it. He's half Earthling, you can keep it, such breeding is embarrassing to my race, especially one would royal blood."
Bulma just gaped at him for a while. She wanted to put her finger in her ear and shake it to ensure she had heard him right. She couldn't believe that anyone, even Vegeta, would be so ... So cold about his own child. She couldn't put it any other way.
He looked completely aloof and cold. His eyes were as dark and hard as stone and his face was completely devoid of any emotion.
"Is there something else woman." He faked a yawn. He could see the pain and hurt at his words running through her face but he steeled himself against it. He had said what he had wanted to and now she should go. After all she had her friends and they wouldn't be happy about her sleeping with him so what did she care anyway? He didn't understand it but he felt the need to hurt her pride as she had done his.
"Yes. Yes there is something else. You're a heartless jerk and I wish you had never been revived. You should have stayed dead!" It was a lie, but it was the only thing she could say in the hopes of hurting him. No, it wasn't the only thing!
She could pick on him never being as strong as Goku but she had enough sense to bite her tongue. And she also had faith in him.
Becoming a Super Saiyan was something he wanted so badly that she wanted it for him too. Even if it would make him more arrogant, if that was possible, and possibly destroy any of the man she had seen lately she knew she wanted him to have what he wanted!
And she knew he would do it. She never said it but she would never say otherwise either for if he ever gave up on himself she wanted him to know that she still believed in him.
She also knew that that was the invisible line not to cross if she ever hoped that Vegeta and her could work out their differences for the sake of her child. So hope, her unborn baby and the man she knew he could be had held her back. If she could just bring him to the way he was before three weeks ago at least her child would have some semblance of a father who seemed to care.
She knew then that no matter what Vegeta said or did she would not give up hope on him. Maybe one day he would be who he clearly was struggling not to be. But for now she was allowed to hate him for what he had said!
He smirked at her. And Bulma ran out of his room as he spoke softly to her back. "Sometimes I wish I had stayed dead too."
* * *
"Hello." Bulma said grumpily as she answered the phone.
"Bulma. How are you?"
"Fine. You?" Bulma asked Goku.
"Oh I'm good." He said with his normal goofy laugh.
Goku had called secretly because Chi Chi and Piccolo had refused to let him visit Bulma and Vegeta. They said he would be making things too obvious.
He knew Chi Chi had called Bulma a few times so he knew that Bulma and Vegeta were alone at Capsule Corp and this was around the time that Trunks would be conceived so he couldn't resist. He had to call Bulma.
He had known her for a long time and he could easily pick up on her moods. Right now she sounded disoriented - obviously from being awoken by his call, angry - must be at Vegeta, possibly at him too for disturbing her and sad - must be Vegeta again.
"All good. So how's Vegeta doing?"
"He's fine." She mumbled but Goku could also make out words like "that arrogant, heartless jerk."
"Bulma there's something I want to tell you." He knew she could possibly use a friend now and he suspected that she had just found out and told Vegeta about her pregnancy.
"Yeah?" Bulma sat up in bed and rubbed her eyes, trying to wipe the sleep away. Goku sounded serious, which was rare, so Bulma knew she should listen carefully.
"You're a very strong and brave woman Bulma and I'm always here for you, all our friends are always here for you. But never doubt your own strength."
Bulma pulled back the receiver from her ear and looked at it in confusion. She knew Goku could be almost as slow as her mother but he wasn't all that dumb and he tended to have unprecedent moments of brilliance, especially when it came to people.
It was as if he completely knew what she was feeling and what had happened yesterday. But that was impossible, unless. "Goku, did you speak to Yamcha last night or today?"
"Err, Yamcha. No. Why?" Goku asked.
Bulma knew that he wasn't lying from the innocence in his voice, he was not the only one with insight on each other. She could even picture him scratching his head on the other end of the line. But just as she was about to ask Goku what was going on she heard Chi Chi's loud voice in the back ground.
"Listen Bulma I have to go. You take care of yourselves ok." And with that Bulma heard the ringing of the line.
"Take care of yourselves?" Bulma muttered as she placed the phone back in the cradle and then flopped back down on the bed. Her hands unconsciously went to rest on her still flat belly.
He couldn't possibly know, it was ridiculous. Then she thought of something Goku had said to her the day they had been warned about the Androids. "Oh and Bulma, I hope you have a healthy baby."
No he couldn't know. He was probably just babbling as he usually did. Bulma laughed at her friend. She should have told him but he had surprised her with Gohan so she would do the same.
But Goku's words, with a nights rest and a clearer and calmer mind, from just moments ago ran through her mind. "You're a very strong and brave woman Bulma and I'm always here for you, all our friends are always here for you. But never doubt your own strength."
Bulma sighed and got up from her bed. She missed looking over at the other pillow and seeing an indentation from Vegeta's head or being able to still smell his lingering scent when she awoke. Sighing she went into her bathroom.
She made to brush her teeth but looked at herself in the mirror. Her eyes were swollen from crying herself to sleep and her skin was paler than usual. Not to mention blotchy. She made a scrunching face at herself in the mirror.
She had never had may good relationships growing up. Being an only child wasn't very stimulating and her mother was completely oblivious to everything and everyone around her. Bulma had been blessed to have a great father and they got on well as they both shared the same passion and brilliance for science. But there were things a girl couldn't talk to her father about. Even at school, she was too pretty to hang out with the intelligent kids or too smart to hang out with the cooler kids and so she had found few friends.
Until Goku! Then there had been Yamcha, Krillin, Launch, Tien, Chiautzu, Chi Chi and the list continued to grow. And ultimately it was Goku that had lead her to Vegeta. Her mind went back to what Goku had said to her on the phone.
He was right! She was a strong and independent person. She had the love of her parents and she had a baby on the way who would need her. She would be a wonderful mother and she would not wallow in self pity. If her friends refused to accept her baby then they weren't real friends.
'And Vegeta?' Her heart asked. She did not think that she would stop caring about Vegeta but if he refused to want anything to do with their baby then she couldn't force him but if he changed his mind ... Bulma smiled, if he changed his mind she would not turn him away.
Authors Note: Oh Vegeta. What a contradicting character. I mean he acts like he doesn't care but we all know he does.
Look at how he shows indifference for Bulma and Trunks but his thoughts prove other wise. "... A Super Saiyan from the future. Of course it has to be his my son. Unbelievable! Its still hard for me to believe that he can be a Super Saiyan at his age. By then again, he is my son. Trunks my son. How could I have let this happen to my son? ... No I won't give up on him, there is till time to change things."
And then there's Bulma. Besides having a son together he still stays at Capsule Corp. I mean really, there's no need for him too. And she's the only one who can shut him up. Well except for the growling.
Now as for Bulma. There's a character a love writing about. She's such a strong and intelligent woman and I admire that. And although she loves Vegeta, she doesn't fall all over herself to force him to love her. Instead she plays the waiting game and it pays off.
Ok, I'm just pointing out, what I believe to be, some important factors that will also play apart in the story. Thanks for reading.

@Blackirishawk - Thank you for all your reviews. Ok, so in reply to your last review, I also debated whether Bulma should have told Yamcha to shut up. But what would she be defending? Everyone knows the truth about who Vegeta was, even her and Vegeta himself. There was no real need to get defensive, it wasn't a lie, and Vegeta himself laughs at it when the others refer to the things he did, well smirks actually. It doesn't insult him because even though I think he may regret some of the things he has done, he's not ashamed of his past. It makes him who he is.
Furthermore Bulma already feels like she knows there's more to Vegeta than who he was. Thanks.
