Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Let the Games Begin ❯ Archie's ( Chapter 3 )
Vegeta worked out nonstop, well into the evening. He had only slept about 3 hours after rescuing Bulma, and had completely skipped breakfast, lunch, and he intended to skip the next meal. `Stronger' the word pounded through his mind, as he tirelessly trained.
Bulma was actually imitating Vegeta to a certain extent. She had a lot of work to catch up on, and she had gone the whole day without a bite to eat. Finally, hunger pains started to hit her hard, and she decided to retire for the day. She let her hair loose, and free as she strutted down the long hallways to the kitchen. Bulma eagerly opened the fridge, only to find it completely bare of sustenance. Her face dropped, and she closed the fridge door.
"Oh" She gasped as she turned around to find an extremely sweaty Vegeta right behind her. `I didn't even hear him come in.' she thought.
"Hi Vegeta, I haven't seen you all day…"
Vegeta barely gave her a second glance as he made his way around her, to open the fridge. After opening it, he slammed the fridge door, muttering something unintelligible.
Bulma's face reddened as she thought about what he probably had to do to help her last night, and she backed up to the table, ready to hear a mouthful from the obviously hungry Saiyan. But nothing came out. Not one scathing word. What was wrong with him?
"Hey, I'm starving too! Its real late though, and I can tell we've both had a rough day."
With his back turned, Vegeta grunted in response as he filled up a glass of water from the sink.
"So…do you want to go out and have some dinner? Delivery service isn't available at this time anymore, I know this great Italian place, and it could do us some good to get out of the house….maybe?"
She winced ready to hear a big fat `Go to Hell' from Vegeta. Yet once again, Vegeta just stood still, with his back still facing her.
"Fine."
Bulma nearly stumbled back onto the table from the response, but Vegeta deftly caught her by her arm in time.
"Your are a clumsy one, woman." With that he let go of her arm, and strode off to his room.
Bulma just stood there. He was being so protective, so..so…nice to her. Well "nice" for Vegeta.
15 minutes Later…………
"WOMAN, are you finished?!" bellowed Vegeta, as he pounded repeatedly at Bulma's door.
"Just a minute Vegeta! Geez….."Bulma, wrapped in her terry cloth robe replied.
"I'm STARVING you stupid--…"
"Give me three minutes!!!!"
Vegeta groaned, "I'm counting!!!"
"FINE!" Bulma yelled back, finishing off her hair. `I am female, I do have hair to dry, makeup to..….' Her thoughts were interrupted by Vegeta's yelling.
" TWO MINUTES AND 31 SECONDS!!"
Bulma quickly, opened up her closet and yanked out her choice for the evening.
"ONE MINUTE AND 56 SECONDS!!!"
"Ugh" she blurted out, as she pulled down her ivory white long-sleeved turtleneck.
"RELAX VEGETA!" she yelled back, as she zipped up her suede camel skirt, and matching boots. `Done! Let me check myself out in the mirror.' She ran over to the full length mirror. "Good job Miss Briefs! Now to grab my purse…"
"TIMES UP!" Vegeta was just about to burst down the door, when it abruptly swung open with a vision of Bulma.
"Yes my Sweet Prince? Is the Carriage and horse ready!?"
"It's about fucking time." He mumbled, ignoring her mockery, and turned around.
Archie's, a charming little Italian restaurant, on the corner of the Western Heights. Not known for a stunning appearance, but very popular for its incredibly appetizing menu. Once inside, Bulma and Vegeta were seated in a candlelit corner table for two. Both starving out of their wits, they simultaneously buried their noses into the menus.
A shadow hovered over the table.
"Hello, and welcome to Archie's," said the bubbly high pitched waitress, as she quickly set two glasses of icy water on the table. "My name is Lydia, and I'll be serving you tonight! Would you like to start off with a few drinks or appetizers?"
"No I just want to eat. You impish little--…" Bulma swished her hand over Vegeta's face to stop.
"Umm sorry, he gets like that when he's hungry" Bulma apologized, "I think we're pretty much ready to order our meals. Vegeta just tell her what you would like."
Vegeta sneered at Bulma, before opening up the menu.
Lydia nervously fumbled for her notepad.
"Fine then, I'll have 3 of these things you call Strombollis, 2 calzones, 2 Manicottis, and one veal Parmesan."
Lydia giggled, thinking he was joking.
"Alright sir, I get it your hungry," she giggled, as Vegeta looked at her confused. "What would you really like to eat?"
Vegeta almost lost it. "You mean I have to REPEAT myself!?"
"Well no, I wrote it all down, but is all that food to go? Or.." Lydia was visibly shrinking.
"No! you shrimp! Its is my meal you--…"
"VEGETA!" Bulma clamped his mouth shut with her hand, before the whole restaurant noticed. "She wrote it down, you don't have to repeat yourself! Relax!."
Lydia at this point was ready to change shifts with anyone.
"I'm sorry about that! Really I am! Ok now, uumm, I'll just have a Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni." Bulma spluttered out.
Lydia looked at her for reassurance, "Is that all Miss?"
Bulma nodded, as Lydia made her distance back into the kitchen.
"How dare you cut me off like that!"claimed Vegeta as he bore holes with eyes into the little blue-headed minx head. "Do you forget who I--…"
"Who I am, I am the Prince of ALL SAIYANS! You impudent woman!" Mocked Bulma as she giggled at her own imitation of Vegeta's gruff voice. "Come on Vegeta lighten up."
"Hmph, at least I don't have to eat your wretched food concotions tonight." He grumbled out.
"Excuse me?" Bulma then noticed Vegeta didn't get upset over her mockery. He simply joked back. He was smirking, `that damnable smirk, I should wipe it right off his face.' Then for the first time that night, Bulma took a good long look at him, his face lit up by the dim fire from the candlelight, and his attire wasn't so shabby, it was rather simple really, just a white shirt, and black slacks. Yet, he filled it out amazingly….his expression was always a scowl , he was looking straight at her, and she gasped. She had never looked into Vegeta's eyes before. She never noticed how dark they were, it was almost scary, they were so…
"Falling madly deeply in love with me woman?" Vegeta mocked, as his face came close to hers.
Bulma's eyes widened and something in her mind snapped. Vegeta was practically a centimeter away from her face. She gathered her wits.
"Love, my dearest Vegeta, is an EXTREMELY strong antonym towards my feelings for you! You egocentric son of a--.."Bulma was cut off by the sound of small wheels, the food cart arrived.
It took Lydia and Victor the bus boy to organize all the platters for Vegeta's massive meal.
"Victor where are you going?" reprimanded Lydia.
"All this is for a table of two?" he replied.
"Yes now help me, set up an extra table for it will ya?" Lydia sighed, as Victor helped her setup. Once everything was in place, the two began their meal, or "meals" quietly as they replenished their empty stomachs.
