Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Life ❯ Chapter 1 ( One-Shot )

Life By: Sakura

A/N This was an idea that popped into my head when I went to Walgreen's looking for Halloween candy. It might be a bit confusing at first, but it should be more understandable near the end (at least I hope it is). There will be very little dialogue, if any at all. I guess you could say this is one of those "serious" fics.

~*~*~*~*~

I landed in the city. This I could tell, with all the surrounding lights. I took in my surroundings. Everything seemed to be the same, except one thing. The Walgreen's. The one with the blinking L. I never could understand why they wouldn't just go up there and replace the bulb.

But now I wondered why it was no longer a Walgreen's. It had seemed to be pretty crowded whenever she took me there. Why had they gone and changed it into a library? If they'd have asked my opinion, I would have said it was too small for that. Way too small.

Once I was finished worrying over it, I decided I had to go home. Home. Would it still be my home whenever I got there? Had my only family already died? I had been gone a while. Where had I gone? Heaven…Hell…? I guess there was only one way of finding out these answers. I had to go home.

I flew over-head. There was my home! Well, not necessarily. My home was on another planet. Planet Vegeta to be exact. Vegeta…my home. No, that wasn't my home. This, this is where I belonged. Earth, my new home.

I landed near the house. My house. Once again, I checked out my surroundings. I never really noticed how big our yard was till now. I walked up to door, when it swung open, revealing my wife, my youngest offspring following. They ran up to hug me. I didn't return it, but I was glad to see them.

While I still looked the same, I noticed they had aged a few years. Then it hit me. I knew someone had been missing! My eldest, my son, was not present. I asked where he was, and they said he had gone off and married my rival's kid. I was also told that my other child was planning on getting married as well. Once again…to my rival's offspring.

That meant that me and my rival…we were now…family. But that wouldn't change anything, we were still rivals. And we owed each other a match. I made a mental note to myself to take care of that later.

After I had eaten a great deal of food, I went out to work it all off. My rival was probably training as well. He had to have known I had returned from…where ever it was I had gone.

I started off with the basics, punches, kicks, defense, and my speed. I decided then to take it up a level. I powered up, Super Saiyan of course, and smirked. If my rival hadn't noticed my presence, he surely would now.

Then, as if on cue, he showed up. I knew he was coming, for I could sense him on his way over. He smirked. "It's been a while," he stated. Yes, it had been a while. Too long for my standards.

"You ready?" I asked. My rival replied with a simple nod. We both got into our fighting stance. He powered up to a Super Saiyan so that our powers would be equal.

We began with our warm-up, nothing special there. Once my rival fired his signature move, I knew it was getting serious. I countered with my signature move as well. The beams went straight for each other. Once they hit, they had no where else to go, so the impact of the two beams caused them to explode.

I shielded my face with my arm. I could see my rival doing the same. I could see him better now that the smoke was beginning to lift up. With my great speed, I got behind my rival, and grabbed him in an arm-lock. He struggled, but to no avail; I had a death grip on him.

I watched in awe as my rival gave up on trying to get out of my hold. He just sat there, limp in my arms. I turned my head so that I could see his face. His eyes were shut tight. Had I really done that much damage to knock him unconscious? No, no, that couldn't be right. This was my rival we were talking about. The same rival who has had an equal amount of power since our first meeting.

I was just about to loosen my grip, when my rival's eyes snapped open. I tightened my hold. Soon I could feel his power sky-rocketing! With a burst of his energy, my rival shoved me back. He looked back, and smirked at the face I was making.

Two can play this game, I thought. I copied my rival, and powered up to Super Saiyan 2. He didn't look at all surprised; I wasn't expecting him to. I looked up, and discovered that my rival had disappeared!

I frantically began to search the area. Up, down, left, right…he was gone! I was about to do a double take, when suddenly my vision began to fade. Black spots started patching my eyes. The only thing I remember seeing was my rival…He was shaking his head and looked quite disgusted with me.

My rival had defeated me with ease. That could only mean two things: Either I was growing weak, or I had been careless…

A/N You're probably wondering why I ended it right there. I would love to answer that question, but I'm afraid I can't. I myself don't know why it ended that way…

When I was typing up this fic, I was realizing exactly how many things Goku and Vegeta have in common. So, what I did, was make it where, you choose who told it. So, in your reviews, I want to know who you thought was telling the story and why. Since I don't know who was telling it, I'd guess, and say Goku was telling it. I think Goku because…well, I don't know why. I just think it's him, okay? ^_^ Please review!
