Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Majin Leeli's Story ❯ Love Is A Battlefield ( Chapter 13 )
Chapter 5 part a
Love is a Battlefield
As Trunks watched the four figures in the sky he couldn't help but wonder exactly what the hell had happened. He was pretty sure he'd seen the entire transaction, but it still didn't make sense. The woman, Koshi he thought her name was, the one who reminded him of his father, had come out and scared the crap out of them all. She'd talked to Leeli a moment before turning to Goten and smirking in a way that Trunks remembered meaning trouble.
She'd moved toward Goten with a grace that only a predator could possess. She's smiled and asked Goten what real claim he thought he had on Leeli. After all, that was it wasn't it, some male need to possess. Goten hadn't been able to respond to that, not that Trunks had been terrible surprised about that. But Koshi kept moving toward him, pushing him back, farther away from him and Leeli. "Come on Goten, let's have a nice civilized talk," Koshi had said, gesturing toward the sky. Goten had looked unsure, but took to the air to have the conversation with the majin leader.
Leeli had tried to intervene at that point. And the other majins had showed up seemingly from nowhere, and one with blue hair had pulled Leeli off to the side. Trunks was pretty sure her name was Mameko, though he wished they had all been a little more aware and had noticed the majin's presence.
The woman, Mameko, had taken Leeli off to the side, pulled her away and up in the air. And so Trunks was watching the people in the sky, not fighting, but not talking politely either. He waited on the ground for a sign, all alone.
He gulped as he remembered…. No, he wasn't alone.
"This is for the overbite comment," an indignant voice said from behind. Before Trunks could even turn and react a very pointy shoe kicked him hard in the back.
"This is for looking so unintelligent," another voice said as he felt someone catch the back of his shirt as he stumbled away from the kick and toss him hard in the other direction.
"And this is just because I don't like the color purple," a last voice said, kicking him in the stomach with heavy boots before he had a chance to hit the ground.
Trunks groaned as he finally fell to the ground and he heard the sound of footsteps moving toward him. "Oh shit," was all Trunks could manage to say as he looked up at the three smirking majin women looming over him. "Not good…"
---
Koshi and Goten stared at one another. Neither of them had said a thing since they'd moved into the air to have their civilized talk. Koshi simply stood, her arms crossed and glaring at Goten, who stood looking uncomfortable and unsure of what to do.
"She would be better off with us. You do know that, don't you?" Koshi asked and before Goten could respond he was ducking a kick aimed for his head. "Good reflexes," the majin leader said, "I can see how you managed to keep her from escaping."
"What?!" Goten said in alarm as he barely managed to block a punch to his face. "Leeli hasn't tried to escape."
"But there is something you think she might want to escape from, even though she hasn't tried," Koshi said, using her speed to move unseen behind Goten. He barely managed to move just as her hand slashed through where his head had been.
"I don't know what you're talking about?" Goten said, twisting as he missed the blow and looked back at Koshi. "Why would Leeli want to escape anything?"
"Same reason anyone would want to escape," Koshi said, aiming a barrage of kicks and punches at Goten's head as he deftly dodged and blocked the onslaught, "because they felt trapped. You've offered her a house with a picket fence, filled with children, and responsibilities," Koshi said, using her speed to move around Goten, bringing her knee down toward his neck. "We offered her the world. Wouldn't you want to escape?"
---
"Let go!" Leeli yelled, jerking her arm away from Mameko and twisting to look the blue haired majin in the eyes. "What do you want?" she asked, rubbing her forearm and almost glaring.
"Oh, I don't know Leeli," Mameko said, crossing her arms and twitching her tail. There was a slightly evil smirk on her face as she raised an eyebrow. "Or maybe I should call you Mrs. Son Goten."
"Hey," Leeli yelped, her eyes narrowing and her ears twitching. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Well, that's who you are, isn't it?" Mameko said, poking Leeli in the chest and pushing her backwards. "Mrs. Son Goten. I mean, you're his wife. He's stolen your identity hasn't he? That's why you want to stay here over being with your real friends, right?"
"That's not true!" Leeli yelled, feeling her power level rising. "I have good reasons to stay here."
"Alright then, Mrs. Son Goten, then give me one of your good reason why you want to stay here?"
---
"Think about it," Koshi said, as Goten just barely dodged to kick aimed at his head. "You've made her a, what was it she always called mothers, ah yes, a baby-machine."
"Wha… huh?" Goten said, quickly moving as Koshi appeared behind him. He didn't know how to respond to the accusation. He didn't think Leeli actually felt that way, but Leeli had always made cracks about people having children. Marron had been about ready to punch her after she'd gotten pregnant with Elijah. "Ah!" Goten grunted loudly, doubling over as Koshi's boot connected with his gut.
"Pay attention," Koshi said coldly, bringing her elbow down to hit Goten in the back of the neck. Deftly he moved out of the way, nearly loosing the concentration needed to fly. "I am talking to you. It's rude to ignore me."
Goten's eyes narrowed as he glared up at the smirking majin leader. "I'm listening," he said bitterly as he straightened up, wincing at the slight pain in his stomach.
"Getting a bit angry are we?" Koshi asked, standing in the air and crossing her arms over her armor. "And here I thought we were having a nice little chat."
"There is nothing nice about this conversation," Goten said in a low voice.
"Now, now, now. I'm just trying to make you think about it from Leeli's point of view. Leeli's a free spirit," Koshi grinned, "like us."
---
"I have, like, a family here," Leeli said weakly. It sounded lame, but she didn't know quite what to say. Mameko had caught her off guard. What could she say?
"Oh, I see," Mameko nodded in mock sympathy, "it's because Goten's made you a… what was that comment you made when I had Akira?" She pretended to think for a moment, "a baby-machine was it?"
Leeli winced. "He did not!" she yelled as she wished Mameko hadn't heard that comment, it wasn't meant to be directed at her. She hadn't meant it in a bad way. She'd said it to Marron when she was pregnant too. It was a joke.
"Kim is how old?" Mameko asked in a cocky tone as she leaned toward Leeli, their forehead's nearly bumping. "Three? How long have you been in this dimension? Coming up on four years? That means you would have gotten pregnant…" Mameko trailed off and acted as if she was doing the math in her had. "Well, right when you got back."
Leeli let out a strangled sound, but didn't know how to defend herself. It was true. She had got pregnant right away, but that didn't mean…
"Shame on that Goten," Mameko shook her head almost mockingly, "I mean, he should know that you don't have a high opinion of having children. And yet he did it to you anyway. Why would you want to stay with him?"
---
"Leeli is not like you," Goten said defiantly, dodging as Koshi started to attack him again.
"Oh, but she is," Koshi smirked, appearing over Goten's head and kicking downward. "Leeli loves power. I've always admired that in her."
"What's does that mean?" Goten yelled, blocking a kick as he maneuvered himself up to where Koshi was.
"Well, you seem to be somewhat powerful," Koshi said, punching at his face. This time Goten grabbed her fist and swung her around. Koshi kicked out at Goten's arm and freed herself from the grip. "By this dimensions standards anyway. And it's only natural that Leeli would attach herself to someone powerful, she was with us majins after all. I mean, why else would she stay with you?"
"Because she loves me!" Goten yelled and Koshi could see the agitation in his eyes. He wasn't angry, he was self-doubting. In this mental state he couldn't win in a fight against the weakest of the majins.
"Come on," Koshi said, unable to keep the smirk off her face. Her plan was going perfectly. "You're not particularly attractive and you're not your father or brother by any means."
---
"Just because I occasionally made snide comments about people having kids doesn't mean I think it's a bad thing," Leeli said, feeling like an animal backed into a corner. "There is nothing wrong with having kids."
"Never said there was," Mameko shrugged, "but come on. You're an intelligent girl. You know this was just a ruse to keep your in your place, right, Mrs. Son Goten?"
"Stop calling me that!" Leeli yelled angrily. "My name is Leeli!"
"I know that," Mameko said, gesturing toward herself and then over at where Goten and Koshi were talking, "but does he?"
Leeli's eyes shifted over toward her husband and her leader. Koshi was throwing punches and kicks at Goten, which he easily blocked or dodged. Neither of them were really trying. It was like a strange dance of some kind.
"Of course he does," Leeli said quietly as he turned back to Mameko. She let out a loud sound at the sight of saiya-jin woman's hand lashing out toward her face. Leeli raised her hand to block, but Mameko grabbed hold of her bandanna and pulled it off.
"I hate this bandanna," Mameko snarled, clenching the blue cloth in her hand. "You're supposed to take pride in that mark," she said, glaring pointedly at the uncovered M on Leeli's forehead, "not hide it."
---
Koshi could visibly see her words hit Goten. He faltered and for a moment she thought he'd fall out of the air. Her right fist swung forward and slammed into Goten's abdomen. The poor guy didn't even start to react until after she connected.
"You know she doesn't want to be here," Koshi whispered into Goten's ear. "You've always known. That's why you got her pregnant, isn't it? That's why I can feel from her power level she's hardly trained since I last saw her. You're the one keeping her down, right? Making her ashamed of the power, the mark she worked so hard for."
"… no…" Goten coughed weakly. "… not true…"
"I'm sure you don't think it's true," Koshi said, leaning away and pulling her fist out of the indent she had made in Goten's stomach. "But what does Leeli think?"
---
Leeli stared at Mameko. It felt strange not to have the bandanna covering her forehead. It had become like a second skin. It felt good to have it off, but strange as well, vaguely wrong.
Mameko's hand flew out and grasped her wrist, pulling her hand forward and held it in front of her face. "Remember this Leeli?" she asked, holding the hand steadily in front of her face as Leeli half-heartedly tried to pull away. "Remember the first time we sparred? Do you remember how you tried to hit me in the face but you couldn't? Remember how I helped you train? Remember how becoming majin made you faster, stronger? Remember how it gave you a place to be? A family. A way to show your intelligence through strategy. Remember all that M has given you?"
"… I remember…" Leeli said, tugging to get her wrist out of Mameko's grip. Finally the blue-haired sayia-jin let go. "I'm not ashamed. I just didn't think they would accept me…"
"Screw them," Mameko snarled. "If they're not going to accept you why would you want to stay here? Is it because you're Mrs. Son Goten? Because he made you a baby-machine?"
"… no…" Leeli whimpered, rubbing her wrist but Mameko could hear the touch of doubt in her voice. "… you may be right, but I don't think…"
"I've been right before," Mameko said, cutting her off
Leeli looked away, down at the ground. "Trunks!" she yelled, shaken from her thoughts by the sight of Kristel, Ka, and Tsuko beating the crap out of her purple haired friend. "Shit!" she cursed, trying to dive down and help him.
A hand caught her wrist and pulled her back. "Don't worry, I'm sure he can take care of his self," Mameko said, her face dangerously close to Leeli's as she pulled Leeli close and then twisted her to the side as if she were spinning her in some deranged dance. "Either way, we're talking here."
---
"Leeli could leave if she wanted," Goten said weakly, finally uncurling and glaring at Koshi. "I'm not keeping her here. She could leave whenever she wanted."
"And who would mother her child? Could you really deal with her disappearing again?" Koshi said, her tail twitching as she moved quickly around Goten so he couldn't get a hold on her if he tried. "Leeli is a responsible young lady. She wouldn't do that."
"… she could leave…" Goten whimpered, unable to answers Koshi's questions. "I'm not keeping her here… I'm not… she wants to be here."
Koshi shook her head as she finally came to a stop in front of Goten, crossing her arms.
"No, that's what you want."
---
"Mameko, let me help him," Leeli begged, trying to get past the majin. But every time she tried Mameko threw her to the side or spun her around. Mameko wasn't trying to hurt her, Leeli knew the saiya-jin was quite capable of doing damage if she wished, she was just trying to keep her away.
"Why are you trying to help him, Leeli?" Mameko asked as she tossed Leeli into the space above her for the fifth time. "Because you're Mrs. Son Goten and you're programmed to go help your husband's friend? Or because you've been forced to become a mother to his bastard children?"
"No," Leeli said plaintively, though for a half a second she considered if it was true or not. "He's my friend."
"We're your friends too, Leeli," Mameko said, pulling Leeli close to face her. "We have always accepted you and would never let anyone keep you against your will. When will you just understand that we're better for you?"
---
Koshi saw the signal out of the corner of her eye.
"Thank you for having this little talk with me," she said with a smirk, "I hope I've opened your eyes and you understand," she leaned toward the confused, self-doubting Goten, "that Leeli will always belong to us. No matter how much you keep her here. She is ours."
Koshi didn't even wait for a reaction from the man, she simply made a gesture for the majins to follow her as she flew off into the distance.
---
"Time for me to go," Mameko said, taking note of the gesture Koshi had made.
Leeli was frazzled and confused, but the other majins had had begun to follow Koshi and Trunks and Goten both appeared to be breathing so there was no need for her to cut Mameko off. She waited to see what the woman would say.
"You know how to find us when your senses come back to you." She smiled and gave Leeli a pat on the cheek. "You're a majin. There's no way for you to stop being one. Even when you're not with us," she floated backwards in the direction Koshi had flown off, "you're still one of us."
---
Trunks groaned. He hurt a lot. He hadn't hurt so much since Kull had used him as his personal punching bag. "I hurt in places I haven't hurt in fourteen years," he moaned. The ground felt surprisingly soft compared to the majin's fists and those damned high heels the overbite chick had been wearing.
He grunted, managing to sit up, rubbing at the bruises that were already forming on his arms. Apparently it was his day to get beat up by chicks for no reason. "Shit," he cursed, wishing his body would hit the point of being numb.
"Trunks, you okay?" Leeli yelled as she set down and helped him to his feet. "Were you even trying to fight them off?"
"They caught me off guard and I didn't want to go super sayia-jin if I didn't have to. I mean, neither you or Goten did. I didn't want to escalate it into something really bad," he said, a little shaky on his feet. "Damn, while three women all over me is usually a good night… I don't think I want that to happen again."
"Fucking moron," Leeli growled, slapping him upside the head. She was glad he was okay.
"Dammit! That hurt!" Trunks yelled, then looked at Leeli. "So, why'd they leave all of a sudden?"
"I don't know," Leeli shook her head, but there was a worried look in her eye that Trunks didn't like. Whatever the blue-haired chick had said struck a cord in Leeli and he was guessing that was a bad thing. Trunks gazed up at Goten.
Goten looked like a kicked puppy, not looking at either of them. Suddenly his head jerked back. "The kids," he breathed just out of Leeli and Trunks hearing as he quickly disappeared in the direction of their home.
"What's he talking about?" Trunks mumbled, wondering if he could actually fly home.
Leeli's eyes got wide. "Oh, shit," she breathed, jumping into the air to follow Goten. "Muzai wasn't with them!"
