Poor Vegeta

"Vegeta? Vegeta? Are you in there?" Jene knocked on Vegeta's door. It was 3 in the morning and Vegeta hadn't made a peep ever since he got home. Usually, she wouldn't be so suspicious but it was an unusual quiet and the way he looked at her when he walked past her was chilling. He looked…scared. "Vegeta, I know you're in there! Open the door!" She knocked again.

"Leave me alone…" was all she heard, and barely heard it at that. "Vegeta, please, open the door! It's 3 in the morning and you seem wide awake!" "I said leave me alone!" she heard him shout. "Look, Veggie, I can't help you if you don't let me in!" she whined in a motherly voice. "Don't call me that…"

Jene sighed, giving up on getting in his room. "Ok, Vegeta, you won. I'm going to bed now but when morning comes, I want to talk to you! …Night sweetheart," she whispered, making her way back to her room. Vegeta sat there at his desk, motionless, his face staring blankly at the black screen of his computer. He had no lights on, no radio, nothing…he just sat there.

Jene got to her room and closed the door. She was about to get back into bed but the phone on the nightstand caught her eye and she decided, though she really did not want to disturb anyone, to call Goku. She dialed the number slowly. As the phone began to ring, she bit her lip. It only rang for a few seconds but it seemed like forever to her.

Finally, someone answered. "Moshi Moshi?" a tired woman spoke. It was Goku's mom. "Gomen Nasai Helet. It's Jene, and I wouldn't have called, but I really needed to ask you something," she said. "No, no *yawn*, it's ok. What's wrong?" "Well…did Goku mention Vegeta? I mean, when he came home, did he say anything about what happened at the party?"

"Oh, yeah. Goku was pretty bumed when he came home from the party and I asked him why and he said Bulma and Vegeta had gotten into a fight and weren't talking then him and Vegeta argued about him and Bulma. Then, he said, right before Vegeta left, he spotted a spaceship in the sky that really startled him." "Oh, really? Well, I don't know about him and Bulma or your son getting into a fight but I know Vegeta isn't too fond of ships anymore since…well, you know."

"Yeah, it's really too bad Vegeta-sei blew up. Well, look, how about I come over tomorrow morning and we can talk?" Helet suggested. "Oh, sure. Again, I'm sorry to disturb you." Jene apologized. "No problem. Night," she said. "Night," Jene hung up. She crawled into the bed and sat the phone back down on the nightstand.

'Vegeta, why are you beating yourself up like this? We came here for a new start, not new pain.' She laid down, her mind swelling with thoughts and her heart swelling with pain, knowing how fast everything has went and how much Vegeta's had to go through. "It'll be all okay one day….one day," she whispered, then closed her eyes and fell asleep.

Morning….

*knock knock!* someone was at the door. It was around 10 am and Jene had already gotten up and got dressed, but hadn't seen Vegeta since last night, for he was gone when she woke up. She knew he had went out but was worried about him, knowing how down he was. She wanted to go find him but decided it would be best to let him be for a while.

She got up and opened up the door. "Konichiwa Helet," she greeted, letting Goku's mother in. "Hi Queen Jene," Helet smiled jokingly. "Funny funny," smiled, rolling her eyes, as she walked back to the couch. "So, how are you? Where's Vegeta?" Helet sat down by her. " *Sigh* I don't know. He was gone when I woke up."

"Really?" "Yeah. I spent an hour crying in his room. I just feel so bad! I mean, he's just been so miserable since we moved here! I thought maybe he'd find some interests in the Briefs girl and he'd kind of forget his troubles but now it's worse and I don't know what to do!" she exasperated. "Don't feel bad, it's not your fault! Vegeta-sei just blew up and he just lost a father; of course he's in the dumps! You shouldn't beat yourself up about it," Helet put her hand on her shoulder.

"I know but I feel bad anyway, I'm his mother! I mean, I should always be able to make things better…not that he's ever really liked me," Jene muttered sadly. "No, he doesn't like you, he loves you! You're his mother and you've always been there for him." "Yeah but he's never needed me till now! Nothing really bad has ever happened and if anything did happen, his father would take care of it before I even knew something was wrong!"

"Jene, he'll be ok! It's going to take time but he's a tough kid, he'll make it," she reassured. "I know, it's just hard to see at times," she sighed once more. "Come on, let's go cook something," she said, getting up. "Ok."

"Let's take this table," Yamcha said to Bulma. They were at a small restaurant on the beach. They sat down at the small, round table, across from each other. "So, how has things been with you?" he asked. She mused over the current events that have happened: Vegeta giving her a ride, him giving her a gift, her asking him out, them fighting, Vegeta leaving off, and came to a conclusion.

"Oh, nothing out of the ordinary. You?" Yamcha then had his turn to muse over the current events: Him and 'the girl from the cookie store' going out, him and 'the girl around the corner' making out, and him and Nina screwing. "Nothing much," he shrugged. Bulma sipped on her drink. "This is nice," he said. "Yeah, I haven't been to the beach in a while. It's really romantic," she smiled, blushing slightly.

"You think? I think so," he put his hand over hers. "Yeah, we should do this more often."

"Goku?" Chi Chi looked up at Goku. They were sitting in his house on the couch. "Yeah, Chi?" he flipped the station. "You want to go out or something? It's a nice day," she said. "No, Chi, that's ok. You can go if you want," he said, sulking. "Come on, Goku! You know I won't leave you here," she said, leaning onto him.

"I'm sorry Chi, I just really don't feel like going anywhere." "Still feeling bad about last night?" she asked. "Yeah…" "Well, if you don't want to go anywhere, we can stay here," she got comfortable and pulled the cover over them. "Thanks Chi."

"Krillin, is that Vegeta?" 18 asked as she saw someone going back into Vegeta's house. "Yeah, has to be; he's the only one I know with hair like that," Krillin joked.

Vegeta came back home around noon. Goku's mom had left to go out, and Jene was sitting in the kitchen, waiting for him. When she heard him come through the door, she rushed into the living room to go see him. "Vegeta? You're home! Where have you been? Are you ok?!" she was frantic as she checked him out, seeing if anything was wrong with him.

Vegeta simply walked by her and went upstairs. "Vegeta, wait!" she walked up after him. He didn't stop though, he went straight into his room and sat down at the desk, just as he did last night. 'I can't find him…he's hiding…he'll kill us all' was all Vegeta could think. He buried his head in his hands. "Honey, talk to me!" she said, putting her hands on his shoulders.

Vegeta was silent. "Sweetheart, I know it's been tough since Vegeta-sei was destroyed but we're not dead! We can start over, here, on Earth! Just like I wanted us to!" she got down on her knee beside him. 'I don't want to start over…' "Vegeta, please, say something to me!" she begged, nearly in tears. "I want to die…" he said in a muffled voice.

"Vegeta, don't say that! It's going to be alright!" she assured. He turned his head away. "Go away…" "Please, let's talk Vegeta," she got up and closed the door. She grabbed a stool and sat by his chair. "Now tell me what is wrong with you," she asked again, eager to know. "You know what's wrong damnit! Why the hell do you keep asking me!?" he shouted angrily.

"Vegeta, the planet is gone, your father is gone, you have to let go!" "Don't tell me what I have to do!" he growled, "That was just Vegeta-sei! What if he comes here and tries to blow up this planet?! Are you going to ship me off to another again?!" he slammed his fist on the desk. "Vegeta, he did it because he didn't want you to get destroyed with the planet…and himself. He didn't want either of us to! You think I just appeared here out of nowhere?"

Vegeta sneered in frustration, then looking down to the floor. "Vegeta, is there something you're not telling me?" she asked. His head shot up and he glared. "What is that suppose to meam?! What, my planet and father being destroyed isn't enough reason for you?" "Look, I know that's part of it but there's something you aren't telling me Vegeta!"

"There is nothing else and if you're going to continue to harass me about it, I'm going to leave!" She immediately stopped questioning him, wanting nothing more than to just sit with him. "No, don't go honey, I'm sorry! J-just stay here, ok? Do you want anything?" "No, I just want to go to sleep," he said this time, angry, tired, but with a hint of sadness in his voice.

"Ok…I'll let you rest now, but just don't leave, ok?" "…Fine," he agreed. "You promise? You're not going anywhere?" "Will you just leave!?" he sneered again. "Oh, I'm sorry…" she said. He immediately regretted yelling when he saw the hurt look on her face but he couldn't help it, he just wanted to go to sleep and she wouldn't leave him alone.

"I'll be in my room if you need me." She went out the door and shut it. He walked over to his bed and slumped down on it and just sat there for a moment. He said nothing. He did nothing. Just sat there.

Ok, that's through! Yeah, I know, it's not long. I may actually put up the next chapter this weekend so watch out for it! Peaces Reeces!
