…In the last chapter, Yamcha and Goku faced off on the CC's front lawn after Yamcha discovered them together. After a very brief altercation, Yamcha leaves having the last word to a mortified Bulma…

"I hope you, Goku and your bastard baby are very happy!" He grunted as he began to float up into the air, probably using the last of his strength to fly away. Bulma felt the blood leave her face when he said that, and she bit her lip as Goku walked up closely behind her.

"I'm sorry I had to do that," Goku said wrapping his arms around her waist. "But he really left me no choice. And he talked bad about you."

"I know," Bulma said patting his hand lightly, not really use to having someone defend her this way. "This is really a mess, Goku."

Goku turned her around to face him, and he cupped her face in his hands. He stared into those deep blue pools and smiled. "It's worth it. I love you." Softened with such a remarkable statement, Bulma couldn't resist and kissed him deeply. He broke the kiss and raised a curious eyebrow at her. "What did Yamcha mean about a baby?"

Chapter 12: Happy ending…?

Bulma suddenly fell mute, and her eyes looked away from Goku as he searched her face for the answer to his question. Goku's eyebrows furred together as he tried to figure it out, and he slowly shook his head.

"…You're having some other guy's baby?" Goku choked out, the hurt wavering in his voice.

Bulma glared at him, pushing away from his grasp angrily. "Not just some other guy… it's your baby Goku." Bulma said loudly, but once she said it she wanted to take it back. She covered her mouth, eyeing his expression when she blurted. Goku's eyes widened, and then panned from her face to her stomach. He swallowed deeply, and his limbs shook with the stunned realization that what he felt the night before was the ki of his own child. He knew it felt familiar… but never in his wildest dreams had he imagined that it was a living being… his child…

"Oh my gosh," Goku finally said softly, placing his hands on his hips. He suddenly felt a sudden wave of vertigo wash over him, and his knees knocked. "I think I need to sit down." He sat down Indian-style on the grass, his hands braced upon his knees as he shook his head.

Not knowing what else to do, Bulma sat down in front of him. She watched as he kept his head down, fearing the worse. He finally looked up at her, and he sighed deeply.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Goku asked.

"I just found out yesterday," Bulma replied. "How was I supposed to know you were coming over here last night?"

"You could have told me when I came over last night, why keep something like this from me?" Goku argued.

"Well I'm telling you now, alright?" Bulma shot back bitterly.

"Alright, alright… point taken…" Goku said waving his hands. "...So, what do we do now?"

"What we were planning to do in the first place," Bulma said standing up. "You're getting married and I'm going away."

"WHAT??" Goku said leaping to his feet. "There's no way I'm getting married now… and what do you mean you're going away?"

"Don't worry about where I'm going… I think it'll be for the best if I went away. Making the decision to keep the baby was hard enough… I can't have my friends and family shun me over what I've done-"

"What we've done," Goku interrupted. He walked up to Bulma, hugging her tightly. "I can't let you go. I love you."

"You love what I do to you Goku… you love the hot sex. You don't love me," Bulma said pushing him away. "I even doubt if I love you!"

Goku gasped at her comment, a bit hurt to admit such a thing to him. He looked at her, and noticed she was already beginning to cry. "Do you honestly believe that? That you don't love me?" Goku said flatly. "Or is this just a trick to push me away?"

"It can be whatever you want," Bulma said sniffing as she turned away from his gaze. A hand touched her chin, and it made her face Goku once more. She tired to hold back her tears, but one disobedient tear escaped down her right cheek.

"You could never keep me away form my baby Bulma," Goku said in a serious tone. "I have every right to be in my child's life."

"Not if you're getting married…and you are," Bulma noted coldly. "So why don't you go back to Chichi?"

"Bulma-"

"Get off my property," Bulma hissed as she turned and walked away. She stopped for only a moment before getting the courage to turn around again to look him once more. "I never want to see you again!" She ran inside the house, slamming the door behind her. Bulma was now at the point of heaving sobs as she leaned against the kitchen island, and when she finally got the strength to look out the kitchen window, Goku was gone.

Chichi rolled over in the queen-size bed, seeking the warmth of her fiancé. She finally raised her head up, and looked around the room. She growled softly under her breath as she realized that Goku didn't come home last night. She sat up, and snatched the covers off her roughly as she gave him the benefit of the doubt… just one boot, his shirt or gi lying somewhere… some kind of proof that he was at home. There was none.

Cursing lightly to herself, Chichi dressed quickly and rushed downstairs. She looked into every room of the house, hoping to find Goku there. When she made a quick inventory of the kitchen and noticed all the food was still in the pantry and refrigerator, she grew enraged.

She began to pace the floor, and the more she thought of Goku, the angrier she got. She was just about to pick up the phone to call her father when the kitchen door opened, and in came an emotionally exhausted Goku. She put the phone back down, and placed her hands on her hips as she stared at him, eyeing him from head to toe suspiciously. When she got to his face however, his expression was one of worry, and hurt. And his eyes were red from apparently crying.

"Goku-sa…" Chichi spoke softly, and then she realized what time of the morning it was, and the fact he was out all night. With flashing fury she yelled, "Where in the hell have you been? I've been up half the night worrying about you!"

Goku didn't reply as he stood there. His head now hung low as he stared at the wood grain of the floorboards. This only infuriated Chichi more, and she walked up to him, slapping him hard across his cheek. She slapped him again and again… until he finally looked at her, his eyes looking dangerously evil.

"Are you going to just stand there or are you going to answer me?" Chichi screamed, her face red with uncontrollable anger. She raised her hand to slap him yet again, but it was quickly caught and held tightly at the wrist by Goku. She now saw the wild look in his eyes, and she swallowed nervously.

Goku stared at her… and the more he looked at her, the more he came to despise her. At first he thought it was just some things that he had to get use to about Chichi's temperament. But no… this is her. The true her. The one that demanded attention, affection… always yelling with contemptuous tones and constant ridicule… the one that he would be with forever. How could he be so blind to her wrath?

"Where were you Goku?" Chichi yelled yet again, drawing him out of his trance.

"I was with Bulma," Goku answered, not believing he said it so quickly. Chichi's angered expression never faltered to the reply and she looked on for a further explanation. "I was with her last night…" Goku words tailed off, hoping he didn't have to say any further. Chichi's eyes looked away from him, and she gritted her teeth when she finally realized what he meant.

"You… slept with Bulma Briefs?" Chichi said flatly, sounding more like a statement than a question.

"I don't think either of us slept." Goku said coldly, hoping the words hurt her. He let go of her arm as it fell limply at her side. With lighting speed her hand connected with his face again, this time making him stumble back a couple of steps from the unprepared blow. He was surprised, but he knew he had it coming after he made such a brazen comment.

"You slept with Bulma?" Chichi whined loudly, her fists clenched. "How could you do this when we are days from being married?"

"I love her," Goku intoned as he nursed his face. "I can never stay away from her."

"When… did this happen?' Chichi asked covering her face with her hands.

"About nine weeks ago…" Goku replied. "Chi, I'm sorry to hurt you… but it just happened. And I'd be lying to myself if I said I didn't love her."

"STOP SAYING THAT!" Chichi screamed, her tears very evident to Goku now as the tears streamed down her face. "How could you do this to me Goku?"

"I never meant to hurt you Chi… but I could never love you the way you want me to. It's not fair. So I have to break our engagement."

Chichi rushed over to Goku, her fists pelting his chest. "You can't break our engagement! I love you!"

"Well I don't love you," Goku snapped, grabbing her hands by the wrists. "Don't you see? It could never work… never. Don't make it any harder than it already is!"

Chichi looked deeply into his eyes, cringing at what she saw within them. Coldness, and abhorrence was there, and it had been there all the time. She was just too wrapped up into herself to see it. She broke away from his grasp, stepping back form him slowly.

"Well if you're so in love with Bulma… why aren't you with her?" Chichi said darkly.

"Good question," Goku answered, and he turned on his heel and walked out of the door.

And just like that, the engagement of Goku to Chichi was over.

Bulma walked through the busy corridors of the airport as she finally made it to the counter to get her ticket. It had been a hasty decision, but the best. After Goku left and she sat on the kitchen floor crying for over an hour, she picked herself up and ran upstairs. She pulled out her huge suitcases and stared filling them up with all her belongings. She only stopped for a second to take a quick shower and eat a bowl of cereal before resuming. After finally packing everything, she encapsulated everything and put it in her book bag, and wrote her parents a letter telling them that she was gone, carefully leaving out the details of her pregnancy. She decided to tell them where she was when she got there, wherever that could be. Bulma didn't have a clue as to where she was going… but it was out of West Capital City, and definitely out of the country.

"What is your destination?" The clerk asked.

"I'm not sure… what do you suggest?' Bulma asked clasping her hands together. The clerk looked up from the computer monitor for a second, staring at Bulma like she was a patient from the loony bin. "Arizona is good this time of year, right? I'll go to Phoenix then."

"Excellent choice madam," The clerk answered as she typed away on the keyboard. "Will this be coach or first class?"

"First class… and I'll purchase the seat next to me too… I need the privacy." Bulma said pulling out her credit card. The clerk made the transaction and gave her the two tickets, smiling brightly.

"Thank you for flying with TWA Miss Briefs. Your plane will be departing in 10 minutes at gate 45. It's right across form my counter."

Bulma only nodded with a small smile as she turned and walked away. Before she could be greeted by the stewardess at the gate, she felt a hand on her shoulder. She frowned, knowing it was probably Yamcha trying to make the last stand and plead her not to go. She turned around ready to tell him off when her eyes met with those dark obsidian eyes she fell hopelessly in love with only nine weeks ago…

"Goku," Bulma stuttered. It had only been a couple of hours since she last saw him, but he looked superb as she stood there, looking down at her lovingly. She wanted to fuss and yell at him; and send him away like she did before… but it was all a ploy, a trick to make him go. Deep down she wanted Goku to stay. But the circumstances surrounding their affair and the untimely conception proved too much for her to bear. The entire day's events had finally taken their toll on Bulma as she felt lightheaded, and Goku quickly caught her, pulling him to his arms gently.

"I'm here Bulma," Goku said hugging her tightly, smelling the fragrant scents in her hair.

"How did you find me?" Bulma rasped out, never looking up at him.

"I followed the baby's ki…" Goku said simply as she pulled her back, caressing her face. "Our baby's ki."

Bulma chewed on her bottom lip, and gave him a small scowl. "I'm still leaving."

"I'm not going to stop you," Goku assured her. "But you have to do one thing."

"…And what is that?"

"Let me come with you."

Bulma's eyes widened with the thought of him coming with her, and she raised an eyebrow. "Would you leave everything behind… for me?"

"I don't have anything without you," Goku said deeply. "Bulma you're wrong about handling all of this… you don't have to go through it alone. We'll go through it… together." He reached out for her hand, holding it tightly. Bulma couldn't believe what she was hearing. She let out a loud sob, and hugged Goku back as tightly as she could.

"Oh Goku… I do love you," Bulma said smiling up at him.

"And I love you Bulma," Goku said leaning down to kiss her. Bulma's hands snaked around Goku's neck, pulling him even closer as they kissed. They were suddenly interrupted by the stewardess at the gate.

"We are leaving now madam," The woman said impatiently.

"Oh yeah…!" Bulma said nervously. She grabbed Goku's hand and smiled up at him. "So Goku… are you ready to go?"

"I don't have a ticket," Goku pointed out as he patted his empty pockets.

"Not a problem… I have two tickets," Bulma led him down the gate that took them to the plane's entrance. She leaned her head on his strong arm as they entered together. "Goku… have you ever been to the United States?"

The plane taxied down the runway, and took off into the sky, taking the lovers to a foreign land, and into a new life. Neither knew what to expect when they got there, but it didn't worry them too much. They had each other, and that was all that ever really mattered.

The end
