Kakarot waited for what seemed like hours to hear some kind of news. Bardock had taken Chi Chi, Bulma, and Vegeta back with him to implant the embroyo, but Kakarot had refused because of the fear buried inside of him.

He started to count ceiling tiles to occupy his time. There were 38. Then, the number of different color squares designed into the carpet.

"She's doing well, Kakarot." Vegeta's voice said, breaking Kakarot's counting. He looked to his prince and smiled. "The embroyo attached flawlessly and she's resting while Bardock equalizes her hormones to tolerate the pregnancy."

Kakarot smiled. "That's good to hear."

"She'll be heavily guarded. Being the carrier of the next prince of Planet Vegeta is a large honor, so she mustn't be left alone. Chi Chi is very strong, so she serves as a good defense as well. Bulma is going to be compensated greatly for her service." Vegeta sat down beside his mate, nuzzling his jaw.

"When does she go back home?" Kakarot asked, pulling his arm across Vegeta's shoulders.

"She won't leave until after the cub is born. I won't allow it. It's far too risky."

"But, her family-"

"I've made arrangements for the other Earthlings to come visit. She needs to be happy in order for the pregnancy to be a success, and I intend to keep her happy." Vegeta explained.

It was hours before they heard anything else about Bulma, but Bardock assured them that she was just resting.

"She'll be able to see you both when she wakes. The ki of the cub is already present, so I believe we should have little to no complications." Bardock explained.

Vegeta and Kakarot retired to their chambers for a few hours, only to be called when the Earthling woke from her slumber.

----

"I am SO HUNGRY!" Bulma shouted as both men walked into the room. "Is this how you feel all the time?" Bulma asked Vegeta.

"Probably. Your human metabolism has to move much faster now that you're carrying the cub." Vegeta explained. "I'll have the servants bring you some food, but don't overdo it."

Bulma groaned, looking over at a very worried Chi Chi. It had only been a few weeks and Bulma's entire demeanor had changed. She barely acted human anymore. The behavior was becoming more wild, more Saiyan...

Bulma and Chi Chi were moved to a room only doors down from the princes' chambers. Much to Bardock's astonishment, Bulma had even created a tiny fetal monitor that would keep track of the cub's vitals at all times.

A Saiyan servant brought in a tray of food for the pregnant human, allowing his mouth to gape as she devoured nearly an entire limp from some sort of bird in a matter of seconds.

The boy's stares made Kakarot uneasy, and he watched the servant closely. His protectiveness over Bulma has skyrocketed in these past few days. Any Saiyan that approached her sent off alarms in his head, making him believe they were a threat to the developing child.

A deep growl resonated from Kakarot, catching the attention of everyone in the room. Vegeta returned a growl to his mate, warning him to pull himself together. The servant was still staring wide-eyed at the prince.

"You're dismissed, boy." Vegeta said softly. The boy scurried from the room quickly. "Perhaps you should take the woman's mate out and spar. She's strong. I'll stand guard over Bulma for a while. We have much to discuss." Vegeta explained.

Kakarot nodded, smiling widely at Chi Chi before grabbing her hand and dragging the small woman behind him. He was always excited to spar.

Vegeta looked down at the pale human in the bed. "She's still not happy."

Bulma shrugged. "She'll always be worried. Chi Chi just wants me to be safe."

"She's very hard-headed, a very good match for you." Vegeta smirked at the woman.

Meanwhile, Kakarot and Chi Chi were on their way down to the training grounds. The woman was shouting at him to stop pulling her, but her protests fell on deaf ears.

When they arrived, Chi Chi seemed nervous.

"What's wrong?" Kakarot asked as he stretched.

Chi Chi glared at him. "If you'd listened to a word I've said, you would know that I'm physically strong, but nothing close to you. This is pointless."

His head cocked sideways, confused. "Then, I'll teach you. I don't see a problem."

She rolled her eyes. "I can't even control my ki, it will just be frustrating for both of us."

"Oh that's easy!"

Though it did frustrate the Earthling, Kakarot was patient while he taught the woman to center herself, and to focus. These were things the woman had to work on, since she seemed to always be moving a hundred miles an hour.

"You do realize that if Bulma dies, things will be very grim for both you and the prince, correct?" Chi Chi said as they made their way back to Bulma's chambers around sunset.

"Bulma is too stubborn to die." Kakarot said, wrapping an arm around the woman's shoulders. "Besides, Vegeta wouldn't let that happen. He holds Bulma in a high respect."

Chi Chi gaped at the Saiyan. Maybe they weren't all crazy monsters after all.

Unfortunately, the night that followed was not near as easy as this training had been.

He and Vegeta returned to their chambers, preparing for their official mating ceremony in the morning.

Kakarot was curled around Vegeta, sleeping soundly, until the nightmare started again.

The memory was fuzzy, as he was heavily sedated. He just remembered hearing the harsh pants of the alien above him, and a searing pain that he was all too accustomed too.

"No." Kakarot had whispered, pushing weakly at Zarbon.

"Shut up, boy. You're much hotter when your mouth is shut." The hissing of his voice sent shivers through the boy.

"Vegeta." Kakarot murmured, trying to figure out what exactly was happening. He didn't remember how he'd gotten here.

The thrusting became harder, shaking him awake a little more. His fear squeezed his chest, and realization hit him like a truck.

He shouted protests, pushing at the man above him, only to be slapped across his cheek. Anger bubbled in him, trying desperately to escape.

"I told you to shut up!" Zarbon scolded, grabbing the boy around his throat.

Power surged through the younger boy, threatening to explode. His air supply was cut off, but he found the strength to scream as the power burned his veins and exploded in a yellow light. He threw Zarbon off of him.

"And I told you to STOP!" Kakarot shouted as the alien came running toward him, pushing his face down into the mattress.

"The prince gave me this night as a gift, your consent is none of my concern."

Suddenly, the anger exploded. Black locks turned golden as the Saiyan ascended, screaming his prince's name.

Vegeta was trying desperately to wake his screaming mate. Power was flickering like visible static around them.

"Kakarot, wake up!" Vegeta said, shaking him desperately. He could see bits and pieces of the nightmare through their bond in his own mind, assaulting him with emotions.

"No! Get off of me! VEGETA!" Kakarot shouted as he became a Super Saiyan once again.

"I'm here, Kakarot! Stop before you kill us both!" Vegeta shouted as fear burned through him.

It took all Vegeta's effort to hold down the Saiyan, waiting until the nightmare was over and his mate woke.

Finally, the feeling of the power was too much and shook Kakarot awake. His eyes were wide as he looked at his mate struggling to hold him down.

His transformation fell immediately and he took a deep breath.

"Are you alright now?" Vegeta asked, panting furiously.

"Yes." Kakarot wrapped his arms around Vegeta, pulling him into his chest. "I'm sorry."

Vegeta swallowed, guilt flowing through him. "No, I'm sorry. It's my fault."

Kakarot knew that the prince had no choice at the time but to abide by his father's word. He didn't want Vegeta to feel responsible for his attacks.

"It's not, Vegeta. Someday, I'll feel better." Kakarot swallowed the lump in his throat, trying to convince himself of that fact. It had been so long since he'd felt totally safe, and he surely didn't remember that time.

Vegeta purred loudly to try and loll the larger Saiyan to sleep, running his fingers up and down the warrior's arms. Kakarot was still very sensitive about his ordeals, but rarely allowed it to show, even to Vegeta. Though Vegeta admired his reserve, he didn't like that Kakarot brushed it all off so quickly. It was even becoming a problem during their most intimate times. It had become rare that Kakarot would get through a round of sex before he would panic and have flashbacks.

The thing that bothered the prince the most is that almost every time, he'd scream for Vegeta, and he had no way to help. He knew it was because the warrior felt safe with him, but he still kicked himself every day for that one evening the boy had been forced to spend with Zarbon. It haunted the boy more than his past assaults, but the forgiving man never would admit any resentment towards Vegeta for it.

It took at least an hour for Kakarot to fall back into his deep sleep, allowing the prince to relax as well. The sun would be up too soon, and there was too much for the new day to bring to face it on a sleepless night.
