Chapter 26 - Blood

Vegeta stood inside the door of the den, tail swaying lazily, and watched Kakorr with a barely suppressed grin. Sakka had given him a book to look at while he did his research, and he could feel his lover's fascination with the images. Kakorr's mental questions to him were endless. He was sure the boy felt them, because he grinned, shrugged, and turned back to his studies. Vegeta finally crossed the room to stand behind Kakorr, peering over his shoulder to read a language he hadn't seen in nearly two decades. Kakorr glanced up at him with a pleased smile and twisted their tails together.

Meanwhile, the boy was flipping through book after book, scribbling notes and going back to check a reference. Vegeta's hopes rose with every page turned, some - not all - of his worry fading. He didn't think he was capable of relaxing as much as Kakorr could. There was still that fear, deeply buried, that the Kais would somehow hurt Kakorr because of him, but his confidence was infectious. His lover's easy-going acceptance was gradually filtering through their bond and Vegeta was doing his best not to resist it.

He had barely been able to suppress his purrs when they entered the Rouba's den - it was cooler than outside, but still warm and dark, and he had experienced a comforting feeling of déjà vu. The fragrance of herbs and spices, the aroma of the ever-present stew cooking, mixed with the heady scent of animal skins reminded him of his childhood. He couldn't help but remember the Rouba who had lived in the palace - she always seemed to know exactly what he was thinking what mischief he had been up to. She constantly gave him hell - his title meant nothing to her - but he had respected her and he always believed she actually cared about him.

They had been here for nearly an hour, and the more he thought about it, the more he was willing to believe Kakorr and Sakka were right about the Kais on Vegeta-sei. Even though he had met other species of Kais, Kakorr had dealt primarily with the bugs and the purple elves. The one he sensed here was nothing compared to them. Just on ki levels, the Namek brat, Dende, had more than this insect. These were nothing more than low-level, paper-pushing bureaucrats. Once Sakka told him the species name they went by he recognized them from historical documents. Osekkai - Meddlers.

"They always manage to piss people off. Totally obnoxious, egotistical, pretentious bastards if you ask me. Think they are better than everyone else and deserve special treatment. One of these days they are going to go too far and get their asses kicked off Vegeta-sei," Sakka said.

"Last time one came to see the Rouba he totally dissed her. Disrespected," he explained in response to Vegeta's questioning tail flick. "Demanded she do something. He wouldn't take no for an answer and started getting pushy. She warned him - three times - which is more than I've ever known her do before. He ignored her, so she kicked him out. Literally." He swung his leg with a grin. "Drop-kicked him. Got great loft. See that dent?" Sakka pointed out of the doorway of the den to a deep indentation high up the cliff. "Hit it face first. She passed the word - he won't ever be able to hire a Rouba now."

Vegeta grinned. That would have been something to see - a pastel bug flying through the air to land with a splat.

The boy had heard them mention their 'bosses', but no one had ever seen them. Vegeta had a pretty good idea who they were - those purple bastards who were of dubious assistance when fighting that pink blob, Buu. This Osekkai looked different though - a sickly purplish blue with antenna - he absently wondered if all Kais were some washed-out color. He had been keeping watch on this one's ki, and he was finally willing to believe he was not an immediate threat to them. He seemed to be almost bored, going about day-to-day business - maybe getting his ass kicked cured his attitude problem. Sakka described them as something like civil servants.

The more Vegeta heard, the more he relaxed. It didn't mean they were harmless, but it was more than likely if this Osekkai saw and recognized him it would take time for word to filter up to a Kai who could be any kind of challenge - and by then they would be gone.

"Look," Sakka said, glancing up from a volume. "Why don't you two go hunting? I can tell you are starting to get twitchy from sitting still and this research will take awhile. Maybe you could bring back some meat for payment?" he asked hopefully. "Since I didn't get a chance to hunt today there isn't much in the stew pot."

Vegeta considered and suddenly smirked as a memory came back to him - something Radditz had described to him.

"Are there any biyaku in this area?" he asked.

Sakka grinned. "Planning some pre-kill hunting? Yeah - there's a colony of them at the border of the jihibiki range."

"What's a biyaku?" Kakorr asked.

"You don't know?" Sakka said, surprised.

"He's led a sheltered life," Vegeta said quickly, hoping the boy wouldn't ask too many questions.

Sakka looked dubious for a moment before smiling. "You don't know what you have been missing, then."

::A biyaku is something like a wildcat - but its blood is an aprodisiac.:: Vegeta told him, grinning as Kakorr blushed.

::Vegeta...:: he began hesitantly.

Vegeta nearly sighed. He knew what was holding Kakorr back - it was the same thing that concerned him until recently. Now he was trying to imitate Kakorr and not worry about something they couldn't change. ::Are we going to let the Kais take every bit of pleasure from our lives, defeating us without a single blow?:: he responded, repeating Kakorr's logic nearly word for word.

Kakorr scrutinized him for an endless minute before breaking into one of his glowing smiles.

"Let's go hunting," Kakorr said.

-------------------

Vegeta rocketed across the desert, skimming across the golden sand, a nearly manic grin on his face. Kakorr was close on his heels, but he had never had his speed and without access to higher levels of ki that would attract attention his lover's larger size put him at a slight disadvantage.

He could feel his lover's curiosity and anticipation. Radditz had told him so much about the affects of the blood of a biyaku - how it intensified sex, heightening the senses. Even the kill was electrifying - tradition required no ki be used against the biyaku, often resulting in bloody wounds on the hunter. He had never had the opportunity to taste a biyaku with Radditz, but now he could with Kakorr.

Vegeta barely sensed Kakorr's burst of speed in time to avoid being caught, turning the attempted tackle into a laughing, growling tumble across the sand.

Vegeta pinned a grinning, giddy Kakorr to the ground, his own smile nearly as wide as his lover's. His tail swished with happiness. It was such a rare sensation he could hardly speak. All he could do was purr and grin. It was foolish. It was unseemly. He was a prince - he shouldn't be behaving like this. But Kakorr didn't seem to mind, his brown eyes glittering with undisguised mirth, his purrs combining with his own.

::I don't think we're getting any hunting accomplished this way, Vegeta.::

::Just wait, Kakorr. It will be your turn soon enough,:: he promised with a purr, smirking at the shiver that ran through Kakorr's body.

"You'll have to catch me first," Kakorr laughed, twisting them so Vegeta was the one under his larger lover, hands clasped beside his head.

Kakorr's mouth against his was demanding and insistent, his tongue a welcome invasion. Vegeta purred as Kakorr began to growl hungrily before he realized where they were.

::Kakorr. Not here. This isn't a safe place.::

Kakorr broke the kiss to look at him in surprise. "I thought we weren't worried about the Osekkai."

He shook his head. ::We're not. There are-:: He scowled as he felt the ground vibrating beneath him. "Up, Kakorr. Off the ground. Now!"

Kakorr obeyed without question, clamping a large hand around his wrist, practically lifting Vegeta into the air. Just moments after they went aloft the sand where they had been exploded, revealing the cause of the vibrations - a massive dark brown worm with a gaping maw.

"That was close," Kakorr exclaimed. "What is that?"

"That, Kakorr, is a jihibiki. Like in the book. They burrow underground, hunting their prey through vibrations. We must have felt like food."

He and Kakorr hovered overhead as the beast searched for them. He could feel the sonic vibrations it was emitting right through his teeth.

"I guess it's a good thing we can fly."

"Maybe that's why Saiyans learned how," he mused.

"Should we kill it? For the Rouba?"

Vegeta chuckled. "They taste disgusting and gritty - like sand. And they would take too much ki to kill." ::Jihibiki are needed in the desert - their vibrations help bring water to the surface. When they get too numerous a pack goes out to hunt them. They are a bitch to kill - it usually takes a group attacking together to bring one down.::

The jihibiki finally gave up and went back under the sands. Vegeta watched the trail in the sand until it finally got too deep to leave one.

"Oh. So why were Kikon and Chikara attacking one in the story?"

"I think it got too close to a settlement - they normally don't go under or through rocks unless they get disoriented. If they do, the dens will crumble and collapse, killing anyone who gets trapped."

He captured the distracted Kakorr's mouth, smirking into the kiss with a satisfied purr.

::Come on Kakorr - Let's find a biyaku.::

------------------

Goku felt out of his depth again. It kept happening - he didn't understand so much of what Vegeta took for granted here. Radditz must have done a better job than Vegeta realized teaching him customs. Even though he tried to hide it, Goku had never felt so lost and out of place. He wondered if Vegeta had felt the same when he first came to Earth. If he had, it was no wonder he was always so angry - Goku had come to realize Vegeta's anger was just a method to mask his fear. It felt like they were playing a game and everyone but him knew the rules.

He still didn't really understand why Vegeta wanted to hunt for a biyaku - it didn't seem to be for food. Why would he hunt for something for its blood? That was just...wrong.

He was suffering from the nearly uncontrollable urge to hang in midair, glaring in protest. But he didn't do that, right? He usually just grinned and scratched the back of his head when events bewildered or embarrassed him.

Vegeta stopped what he was doing and turned to look at him. "By the GodS, Kakorr," he laughed, "Did I always look so miserable?"

Goku frowned until he realized what Vegeta was laughing at. He was scowling, arms crossed, tail nearly straight down with tip twitching - he looked like Vegeta in a bad mood. He tried to smile, but failed, only managing to force his arms to his side. He should have realized what was happening, but he didn't even notice when the bond took over.

"What are we doing, Vegeta?" he asked, trying to get control of himself again.

Vegeta rose up to meet him, blue eyes studying him with concern. "We don't have to do this if you don't want to, Kakorr. I just thought you would enjoy it - I wanted to give you this experience."

Goku smiled, suddenly relaxing as Vegeta's hand touched his. He trusted his prince. "Are you sure you are doing this just for me?"

Vegeta grinned back. "Hell no. I never got to make love under Vegeta-sei's suns. This is the perfect excuse."

----------------

Goku hovered overhead, their clothing a bundle in his arms, trying to make sense of this hunt. Being naked in public had never bothered him before, although he never hunted that way - the fabric provided a little bit of protection in case something went wrong. When he asked about it, Vegeta just smirked at him. Goku trusted him, but something...wild seemed to have been freed and he wasn't sure how to react. Vegeta's teeth were bared in a feral smile and he kept... laughing - dark, self-satisfied, confident.

Vegeta flew over a jihibiki just below the surface of the desert. Goku didn't know what he was looking for until there was a spray of sand about half a mile away. Vegeta put on a burst of speed, heading directly for an animal about the size of a bobcat that had emerged, hissing and growling. Goku held his breath as his prince dropped down to the surface, tackling the cat, still in the path of the oncoming jihibiki. He got worried as he realized Vegeta wasn't using any ki to protect himself from the deadly teeth and claws.

The jihibiki was seconds away and he was preparing to disobey in order to help when Vegeta gave a victorious cry and the cat suddenly went limp. The sand around him was already erupting when he slung the animal over his shoulder and vaulted upward with a triumphant smirk.

Goku studied him, concerned. "Vegeta...are you okay?" There seemed to be blood everywhere, but he couldn't tell if it came from him or the animal.

Vegeta's tail reached out to coil around his wrist, gently dragging Goku with him as he began to drift backwards towards the rocks.

::Vegeta?::

"Can you smell it, Kakorr?" Vegeta asked in a dark voice, guiding him until his back was against solid stone.

Goku stared at him, bewildered, and took a deep breath. Smell? He shivered and his tail bristled at the scent. Blood. He seemed to lose all control and inhaled again. Blood. Dark. Red. Copper. Life. Death.

His eyes were drawn to a cut on Vegeta's arm; dark, nearly violet blood rolling down to his fingertips. He focused on a single drop, watching its path, past the angle of the elbow, over the curve of the wrist, snaking over hardened knuckles to hang promisingly at the tip of a finger. He shuddered as he realized he was licking his lips, wanting to taste it.

"Kakorr?"

He struggled to draw his eyes up, away from that temptation.

"Have you tasted blood as an adult?"

How could Vegeta ask him that? He used to as a child - but Master Roshi had found him finishing the remains of a hunt. The look on his face - the disgust - the betrayal... like he was a filthy animal.

"No," he whispered, voice cracking.

Vegeta scowled, and Goku was afraid he had disgusted him with his hungry stares.

"There was nothing wrong with what you did, Kakorr. You are not an animal, nor are you a human. You are a Saiyan and we taste blood for pleasure."

Goku stared and shivered at the darkness and anger in his voice. He couldn't tear his eyes away when Vegeta dipped his fingers in his blood and brought them to his own lips. Goku moaned to see them vanish into Vegeta's mouth.

"Do you wish to taste me, Kakorr?" Vegeta purred, coating his fingers again, moving closer until all Goku could smell was his prince.

"Yes," he breathed. This had to be wrong. What if he went too far and lost control? Vegeta's scent was mingled with the biyaku and it was destroying all logic and reason. He felt like he was falling, but Vegeta's fingers were so close to his mouth and it seemed so easy...

"Follow your instincts, Kakorr." ::I will catch you.::

The scent - the promise - was too strong to resist. He wasn't able to hold himself back any longer. Goku coiled his tail around Vegeta's wrist, holding it in place, and dragged his tongue through violet metal.

The taste on his fingers was gone too quickly - he wanted more. Goku dropped to his knees, no longer able to stand, capturing Vegeta's injured arm, licking and sucking blood-coated fingers. A purr exploded from his chest - this felt right.

"Yessss, Kakorrrr," Vegeta purred, dropping to the ground beside him, letting him get closer to the source of the blood. Vegeta curled around his back and side, arm loosely wrapped around him so he could lap at the wound on his upper arm.

He whimpered in protest - he didn't seem to be able to speak - when the blood flow stopped. Vegeta chuckled as if he knew exactly what was wrong.

"Don't worry, Kakorr. There will be more."

Vegeta's... instincts... desires were passing through his brain and into his body. The hunt, the kill, the blood had awoken something dark. He was barely aware of the sound of muscles tearing and bone cracking, but there was suddenly meat and blood pressed against his mouth. He sank into it and with a frenzied tearing of his teeth tore away a huge chunk, ripping through fur and bone, devouring it hungrily.

He could feel Vegeta's dark stare and turned to drown in blue. Something was happening. He could feel his heart racing. The scent of blood was overwhelming. His tail was bristling with anticipation. He was falling. 'I'll catch you.'

He fell.

---------------

Heartbeat.

All Goku could hear, all he could feel, was one word - Fuck. And it was directed at him. He was trapped, pinned in place by fiery blue eyes. That word - he normally hated it. He associated it with Krillin and Roshi and their spoken desires with the girls in the magazines they read. But this was Vegeta - he could feel his prince, he loved him and 'fuck' wasn't about using him or taking advantage of him - it was something more.

It was a word. A word that didn't matter anymore. All that mattered was Vegeta's bloody mouth against his, grinding teeth and tongue together. The copper taste made his blood sing and he gasped as something bright and animalistic passed through him.

Fuck.

His back was pressed against the heated rocks. He couldn't help but tremble as Vegeta's fingers covered his body until he was dripping with blood, immediately cleaned by a burning mouth against his sweating skin, lapping and nipping at his body's curves and hollows. He could hear his own thudding heartbeat, could smell the metallic scent coating him, could feel the fire rushing through his body.

Fuck.

Purrs filled the air around them, the heavy musk from his prince's tail making him moan with need. Vegeta growled as he devoured him, snarls of his name the only disruption of the continuous sound.

Fuck.

He tried to remember - when he and Vegeta first started this relationship, hadn't he whispered seductive words to his prince? He didn't seem capable of that anymore - Vegeta's intensity, his hunger, his need just seemed to suck language right out of him. He could feel him though - their bond sending a constant, vibrating charge of love and passion through them both.

Fuck.

"Vegetaah," he whimpered, twisting his body and tugging on the shaggy mane tangled in his fingers until Vegeta's mouth was pressed hard against his, the taste of blood and seed against his tongue.

Fuck.

Now he knew what Vegeta tasted like and smelled like and felt like. He was Vegeta-sei - the heat of the desert and the scent of the hunt. He was the blood red rocks and the glittering yellow sands. His prince pressed against him and into him, scorching his body with the fire of the two suns burning overhead, searing him with his intensity.

Fuck.

Vegeta slammed into him again with a growl and all he could do was moan. Anything. He would stay here forever. He would give up everything. He would do anything. Anything to stay close to the fire of his prince.

Fuck.

His tail coiled even tighter around Vegeta's thigh, pulling him in deeper. More. He wanted more of his prince. He locked his arms around Vegeta, keeping him close, groaning in frustration when his grip slowed the frenzied thrusts. "Vegeta," he whimpered.

Fuck.

His prince's tongue fucked his mouth in rhythm with the cock pounding into him and he finally understood. This... animal... aching... need... hunger... wasn't cold and unfeeling. Vegeta was giving him pleasure too intense for a word as soft, as gentle as 'love'. It was the only word that described this perfect, passionate moment.

"Fuck me," he begged.

Vegeta's response was a snarl as he twisted his hips, driving into him again, the changed angle making him scream in ecstasy. He couldn't stop screaming as he clutched at Vegeta's back, his arms, his hair, the ground - anything to stay here - to not disappear. Vegeta growled his name and he trembled and shook as wave after wave of pleasure flowed over him and through him and in him.

He lay there, his gasping breaths and the rush of blood in his ears all he could hear, almost afraid the intensity of the experience had somehow killed him in the past and had returned to the room.

"Kakorr?" Vegeta's voice was so soft and concerned. "Are you alright?"

He turned his head and met sapphire. Vegeta looked worried, trailing comforting fingers through his sweat-soaked spikes.

"Are we still on Vegeta-sei?" he whispered, his throat sore from screaming.

Vegeta looked at him, confused. "Yes." ::Kakorr - is something wrong?::

Goku wrapped his arms around his prince, pulling him off-balance, holding him close and purring. ::No. I just wish we could stay here and...:: he grinned at Vegeta, ::...fuck forever.::

Vegeta smirked and kissed him. "So do I, Kakorr. But if you catch your breath we could try to do that again."

Fuck.

---------------------------- -

I'm going to keep including vocabulary while they are on Vegeta-sei. Again, it isn't necessary, but I think it just adds some...spice.

Word - dictionary definition - (How I'm using it - who it is or meaning intended)
Biyaku - aphrodisiac (A cat-like desert animal on Vegeta-sei whose blood is an aphrodisiac.)
Chikara - force, strength, energy, might, power, authority (Character from Vegeta's book)
Dairi - proxy, agent, substitute, alternate - Dairihaha is surrogate mother. (Surrogate parent)
Henoko - testicles, penis (Second man Goku has sex with - after Olibu)
Jihibiki - subterranean rumbling, earth tremor (Desert monster - think something like Tremors)
Kairiki - superhuman strength (Name Vegeta gives himself while in Saiyan past)
Kikon - patience, perseverance (Character from Vegeta's book)
Makoto - truth; faith; sincerity; trust; confidence; reliance; devotion (Goku's nickname for Vegeta)
Noujou - farm (Mountain range near village in Saiyan past)

Sekieki - lizard (Character from Vegeta's book)
Shinbou - patience, endurance (Name Vegeta gives Goku while in Saiyan past)

-----------------------------

Jaygoose - Glad the vocabulary meets your approval. It was definitely one of those should I, shouldn't I things. I'm sure it makes me sound very fangirl, but I'll get over it. Using other languages to name pets and characters in stories is something I've always done.

Webtester01 - It is tough trying to describe a society I've created without stopping the story. I'm afraid it slowed a bit out of necessity, but it should pick up again now.

Macha - I just kind of see Vegeta as a wild animal - can't you just see him stalking his prey. His hair just gives him more of a mane. I think I will let Goku see his hair down more often - I don't know about anyone else yet. Ah - the Kais... well, they won't be worrying about them for the time being - but that doesn't mean they shouldn't *evil grin*

fyrbyrd - Yes, I left you with an evil cliffhanger. I do that quite often, don't I? Bet this chapter heated you up.

Suisheu - I so love making you sputter. *g* Yes, the Kais are on Vegeta-sei, no, they don't appear to be the ones making all the trouble. I'm not telling you why they are there - although there have been little hints throughout the story - you will find out - eventually. I have quite a few scenes in my head - I just don't know if I should include them all. They aren't all important to the story - but they would add to the picture of the society or the characters. *sighs* If I include them ALL this fic could end up in the 50 chapter range - which I don't want to happen. Vegeta's secret was he sensed a Kai for a second - but when he felt him again he told Goku - sorry, no big drama there. Sorry this update took longer. Kept having to toss entire sections or shoving them to later chapters - took forever to find the direction. Do I get my m&m's now?

Sokushitsu - It is fun to create new worlds - the hard part is keeping it from taking over the story. The Kais aren't threats in this chapter, but they will be a problem some day.

galaxy-of-cinders - I'm trying not to let Sakka take over any scenes he is in, but I've grown to like him. Think of him as...well, I guess as a Goten/Gohan fusion. He's got the Goten bouncy confidence, but when he needs to he can display the education and maturity of Gohan. But in my head he has personality, but not an appearance. (I rarely give characters like that any real description - so you can visualize him however you want to.) So...bet you enjoy this hot yaoi Vegeta-sei boinkage. *g*

LadyKATT - You are almost always my first reviewer! *glomps* See - you didn't need a hanky - you needed a fan. *g*

Elenek - I don't remember where I got the hair idea - it just sounded right. Oh yeah, I've done that bedtime thing - written an entire chapter in my head, only to have all of it vanish except for a line or two.

AltairKaosu - Vegeta's growth and development as a person is so much fun to deal with. I think I agree about FF - I might post some of my milder stuff there, but I think too much would be lost if I edited Maintaining and Quest for them. The sex isn't just sex - there are thoughts and feelings going on during it, making most of it integral to the character's development and story.

Chayron - Glad you are enjoying my Vegeta-sei tour. *g* Vegeta isn't done changing - neither is Goku. It is just that Vegeta's growth is more obvious.
