Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Remain the Same ❯ Remain the Same ( One-Shot )
Disclaimer: I do not own DBZ
A/N: This is a poetry and short story combination. It's what Vegeta was thinking when he was telling Goku what Frieza did. I tried to keep them in character but you never know.
Remain the Same
I'm a prince
The strongest ever
Vegeta choked back a sob; he was going to die by the same hands that destroyed the saiyan race. There was only one chance for Frieza to pay.
"K…Kakarot, listen to me.
My people praise me since
I was destined to rule forever
Bitter irony clouded his thoughts and confusion burned in his eyes, how could he be outclassed by that baka, Kakarot?
"Vegeta, please don't talk. You need to save your strength." The gentle eyes of Goku were downcast and full of worry. He never really knew Vegeta, but seeing down on the ground struggling to survive, he felt fear rise up inside him. Was the proud prince destined to die?
"No, you… must listen," Vegeta shook with determined will to finish the fight he started, while letting the chains of ice that bound his emotions release.
Many look at me
I look back with clouded eyes
"He destroyed our people Kakarot, the proud mighty Saiyan race. He destroyed both our families, your father… my father, all of them. We followed his every order, we were his hand and muscle, we did everything and more but still he destroyed us." His hand struggled to reach his cheek when he felt a salty liquid dampen his glove. The tears that had been restrained was now freely falling down his face, 'Like raindrops.' He added bitterly.
I wished to be free
Left in the wake of other's lies
"Please… Please stop Vegeta, you'll make it, I promise." Goku smiled weakly trying to encourage his once proud standing rival. 'Or myself.' Goku tried with all his might, trying to think of a way for his "friend" to survive. But in his heart he knew it wasn't possible.
"N…No Kakarot, he made me into what I am," Vegeta tried to avoid the temptation of giving in to death, like he always did, "D…Don't l…let him… do it to anyone else." Finally the dark shadow that clouded his thoughts was gone, replaced by a glimmer of light.
Look at the light
Please call out my name
No matter how hard he tried, there was that light that called out his name in happiness. He was soon to be with his people, the proud Saiyan race.
"F…For…o…our…p…proud…race&hel lip;k…Kakarot. D..Destroy…Frieza." His breath ragged and the pain in his chest Vegeta smirked weakly before letting his whole body lay limp and still with a tear in his eye. As he left that very dimension, old friends and family soon greeted him. But as he made his way towards the center a lone figure was standing there with his back to him.
"My son, you're the very pride of our race." As he turned Vegeta looked at shock at the familiar face of his father, but instead of the scowl he always wore, it was a proud smirk for his son…his race… and the legacy that they held. Vegeta returned the smirk turning once around to see Goku begin the fight he desired his whole life.
"Kakarot, destroy him." Many others echoed his voice as he grinned, "No matter what happens the Saiyan race will rule forever, and I shall make them proud. By being what I always been…The Prince of all Saiyans."
With my life ended, I may have lost the fight
But I will forever remain the same
A/N: Well that ended on a sad note, but I thought it was cool when I wrote it. Anyways…review if you want, but please no flames. The poem and all my other works belong to me.
