Reunited

The Earth was once again safe and the Z-fighters were victorious. The evil Majin Buu has been defeated and the fat Buu is now good and a good buddy to Hercule. Everyone is gathered at the Lookout. Families are reunited. And so are our favorite pair of young lovers. After being engulfed in a giant bear hug by her father, Videl goes in search of Gohan. He was here somewhere. She knew it. Just like she knew he wasn't dead, despite what everyone said. Then she saw him, surrounded by his parents and his little brother.

It looked like Goten was permanently glued to his leg, while Chi Chi had him around the waist and Goku hugged Chi Chi to him. All Gohan could think about was finding Videl. When Goten told him how everyone at the Lookout had been consumed by Majin Buu, he went into a horrendous rage. The fact that Videl was gone, along with everyone else, really pushed Gohan over the edge. Just thinking of it now made his blood boil. He had to see her. Right now. He somehow detaches himself from his parents and finally shakes Goten off his leg and goes in search of her.

Looking over the groups of reuniting families, he sees her. Their eyes meet and it's like no one else is around for miles. They start running toward each other. They can't get there fast enough. And when they finally meet, Gohan sweeps Videl up into his arms and their lips meet for their first kiss. He swings her around while never loosing contact with her lips. When they finally pulled apart after what seemed like hours, but in reality was only a few seconds, all they could do is stare at each other and revel in the fact that the other is all right. Before either of them could speak a word after that monumental first kiss, their families surrounded them.

"Sweet Pea! What are you doing with that scrawny boy?" screamed Hercule.

Of course Trunks had to add his two cents. "Don't knock her up Gohan." His father couldn't help but smirk at that comment. And everyone fell out when Goten chimed in, "But my brother would never hit Videl."

Gohan and Videl had pretty much had enough embarrassment for one day and flew off. Chi Chi started to go after them, but Goku stopped her saying, "let them have some time to themselves. We'll see them later." Hercule was about to protest, but one stern look from Piccolo pretty much shut him up.

The young couple flew away from the Lookout without saying a word to each other. None was needed. At least, not yet. They flew and flew until they reached the spot near Gohan's house where he had taught her how to fly.

"So, you're an alien, huh?"

"Well, half alien, half human. You're not weirded out by that, are you?

"It was a surprising at first, but after spending the day with your friends and family and, oh, I don't know, dying and having people trying to convince me you're dead, you being half alien is no biggie."

"That's good. So, uh, do you want to tell me what happened down here or is it too difficult to talk about?"

"Well, I have to talk about it with someone, not that anyone would believe me anyway." Videl fills Gohan in on everything that happened after he flew off with Kibito. Of course Gohan falls over laughing when he hears about Master Roshi's special technique and the softer side of Dabura. After she finishes, he proceeds to tell her of the battles against Babadi's men and Majin Buu. Videl cringes as he describes the brutal battles. She's gone up against plenty of thugs in her day, but it was nothing compared to what Gohan and his friends faced. When he gets to the part about the Old Supreme Kai, he had to stop her from finding Goku and whacking him upside the head for even thinking she would let that perverted old man see her naked. (Author's Note: Based on a summary I saw of the original Japanese episodes, not the US version where the Old Supreme Kai asks for a kiss. I always thought Gohan overreacted for just a kiss.)

"There's only one guy I want to maybe, one day see me undressed and that's you, she says adamantly before turning beet red."

At her comment, Gohan also turns red. "So, uh, Videl," he says while turning an even deeper shade of red. "You aren't mad about that kiss back there, huh?"

Still blushing, Videl replies, "I'm not mad about it. Not at all. I just wish our first kiss hadn't been so public. I mean never in a million years did I envision our first kiss being in front of an audience of our friends and family."

"So you've thought about kissing me before?"

"Well, I mean, uh, OK, YES!!! I've thought about it. Like you haven't, Gohan?"

"We're not talking about me here. We're talking about you Videl. When did you first start thinking about kissing me?"

"Is that really relevant now?"

"Let's just say that it seems to be of the utmost importance to me at this moment."

"Well, if I tell you then you have to tell me. Fair's fair."

Jeez, what did I get myself into. "Hmm, well, OK. I guess that would only be fair. But you first Videl."

"Fine! All right! I'll go first. OK, I guess it was during our first flying lesson when you were teaching me to bring out my energy. You were sitting there across from me being as patient as you could be with someone as, well, stubborn as I am. Between your sweetness and gentleness, it kind of just hit me. Well, that and my first real taste of lust. I have to confess, you looked EXTREMELY hot in your gi. And I can't believe I just told you that. OK, I'm just going to go crawl under a rock now or something."

"When you first demanded to know the identity of Saiyaman."

"What?"

"That day in the park, when I `borrowed' your copter. That's when I started thinking of you more than just a girl in my class."

"Oh really. I, well, I didn't think you liked me very much since you seemed to always avoid my questions. Plus you went on that date with Angela."

"I have no interest in Angela whatsoever!" he stated adamantly. "I mean really, how much can you possibly did someone who blackmails you into a date?"

"I blackmailed you into flying lessons and competing in the tournament."

"That was different."

"How so?"

"Well, you really knew my secret for one."

"And what's the other reason?"

"I liked spending time with you."

"Oh," she responded while blushing furiously.

While she contemplated a better comeback to his statement, Gohan leans down and gives her a quick peck on the lips. He was going to pull away when she put her hands on his head and pulls him back down. They continue kissing for awhile until the need for air causes them to break apart, panting heavily.

"Whoa."

"Yeah, whoa. So, ah, Gohan, where do we go from here?"

"Well, we are going steady, aren't we?"

"Yeah, I guess we are. So what should we do?

"Well, if you don't mind, I'd like to take you out on a date."

"It's not going to be one of those foo-foo girly types of dates, is it?

"It'll be whatever you want it to be."

"Hmmm, whatever I want. Now, do you really want to give me that much control? I might have you doing something you really hate, like going to a Meg Ryan romantic comedy marathon."

At this point Gohan had a stricken look on his face.

Videl put her arms around his waist and hugged him. "Don't worry. I would never torture you in such a way. How about we just spend some time together training and go from there. To be honest, I would really love for you to teach me more about sensing energy."

"That sounds like a good idea. When would you like to start?"

"Is now OK?"

"Sounds like a plan. Let's go then."
