Chapter 1

Allow me to take you to a semi normal day at West High. Fall,Wednesday, first period: Public Speaking.

All the seats in Ms. Stern's class were filled that morning except for the one belonging to the infamous Vegeta Ouji. Ms. Stern just shook her head and turned to address the class. "Alright, today class we will be presenting our speechs on current events. Who would like to go first?"

The whole room knew who would go first as Bulma Briefs chirped in. "I would be glad to Ms. Stern."

"Alright, Bulma." Bulma went to the front of the room and gave a great speech. Not only was she a born leader, but her beauty and charm helped her to keep the audience's attention. "Thank you, Bulma that was wonderful. Hopefully everyone else will pay the same amount of attention to their presentation." Bulma smiled victoriously as she sat down at her desk having gained the desired amount of praise from the teacher.

"Who will be next?" No one volunteered so Ms. Stern searched for a pigeon of her own. Her eyes fell on the one with her eyes turned down and her twiddling fingers. "Chi chi?"

Chi chi's eyes shot up in horror and she gulped trying to regain her voice. She shakely stood and walked to the front of the room. "My speech is..um.." she stuttered nervously and like they normally do the higher ups laughed at her weakness. Bulma chuckled and rolled her eyes. "Look's like she's got a frog in her throat." She whispered to her friend. "Yeah she must be a witch what with a frog in her throat and a toad on her face."

Chi chi bit her lip. She was already nervous and their heckling wasn't helping. She was angry and sad at the same time. She wanted to beat them to a pulp. She squeezed her fists as her cheeks reddened to a feverish ruby when much to her salvation the door to the classroom slammed open. All heads turned to see the source of the intrusion, giving Chi chi a much needed repreave from embarrassment.

Vegeta Ouji was leaning against the door frame nonchalantly. He was dressed in a black Van Halen t shirt and baggy black pants. A chain hung from his pant's pocket and he had black wrist bands. His hair was swept up in it's usual flame shape which everyone assumed was done with hair gel. He had one black earring and the bottom of a tattoo could be seen at the edge of his sleeve. He held up a pink slip. "Sorry I'm late." Ms. Stern stomped up to him and took it from him.

Vegeta shuffled over to his seat and sat down, leaning back and crossing his arms looking absolutely thrilled to be there. "Mr. Ouji this is the third tardy this week and it's only Wednesday."

"Yeah well I didn't feel like gracing the school with my presence this morning." Vegeta smirked as a few of his fellow B crowders laughed.

"This is unexceptable, Mr. Ouji." Ms. Stern said.

Just then the A crowd joined in for a jab. "Yes don't you know that those pink slips clash with your whole image, bad boy?" Bulma said eyeing Vegeta with a flirtatiously vicious glance.

Vegeta growled at her. Goku laughed. "What did I tell you guys, Veg head really is a creature of the night." He teased.

Vegeta jumped out of his seat and glared at Goku. "What was that dick wad?" Goku jumped out of his seat and got right in Vegeta's face. "You got a problem vamp wanna be?"

With that Vegeta shoved Goku and Goku pushed back. So like boys do they ended up in a pushing shoving match, that is, until, "That is enough! Mr. Ouji, Mr. Son, report to the office right now!" Ms. Stern screeched. Goku dropped Vegeta out of a head lock and gave Ms. Stern a shocked look. "But..."

"No buts!" Ms. Stern just pointed to the door and the two of them walked out sullenly. "Welcome to my world, jock strap." Vegeta chuckled under his breath as they walked to the office. Goku punched him on the shoulder and Vegeta just laughed knowing he had won this round. These two guys had been fighting since the first day of Kindergarten. There was always some unknown rivalry between them and Vegeta would do anything to get Goku's goat and vice versa.

Back in the classroom, Chi chi took the oppurtunity after the ruckus to sneak back to her seat without giving her speech. Ms. Stern didn't seem to notice, she just sighed in exasperation and picked someone else to present. When class was over the enitre class filed out into the hallway buzzing about the fight. Their scuffles were a normal occurence, but they usually happened outside of school.

Chi chi walked out of class last, clutching her books to her chest and staring at the floor. She walked down the hall hurriedly avoiding all the other students, she was headed to the C crowd safe spot. Every crowd has areas that only they are designated to inhabit due to an unwritten rule of the 'clique'. Her friends and her usually congregated on the wall of windows across from their lockers because it was a sunny area of the building. When she got there her outcast friends greeted her. "Hey Chi, how was PS?" Her friend Marian asked.

"Horrid as usual." She groaned leaning dramatically against her locker in mock horror.

"I heard that was where the fight was?" Another of her friends asked.

"Yeah, Goth vs. Jock round zillion!" Chi chi groaned.

"Actually according to my calculations it was their 35th known scuffle." Krillin chirped in from nowhere. Their guy friends had appeared behind them to hear the news as well

"Oh wow a new record!" Pearl replied sarcastically.

"I'm glad they decided to fight when they did, it saved me from embarrassing myself further." Chi chi said thankfully.

"What's happening boys?" Julia asked absently fishing through her messy locker in search of a textbook.

"Oh nothing just wanted to hear about the doings of our more primitive class mates. Let's hope..." The boy was interrupted when he was smashed into a locker and held there by a fearsome blonde in a black leather jacket, tight blue jeans, and a red bandana in her hair.

"You talking about the boss nerd ball?" She spat as two large guys dressed in a similar fashion appeared behind her glaring intimidatingly at the group. Chi chi squeezed her fists knowing she could rip them all apart if she so chose, but being suspended would not go over well with her father.

"No...I...I...wasn't." The dumb struck boy stuttered. The girl shook him and said, "You better not've been or me and the guys might have to get...violent." She snapped her fingers and the two big guys punched the locker behind him. They all grinned evilly with a chuckle to match when Krillin stepped up. "That's enough Juu."

Juu let the boy go and looked down at the bald nerd who had just spoken to her. "The name's 18, baldy!" She glared at him and he just smiled pushing his glasses up.

"You got a death wish nerd?" One of the guys asked.

"Oh come off it Turles you know I've always been this way."

18 punched for his face, but Krillin caught her fist and smiled. "Right, 18?"

18 growled and pulled her hand away. "You're lucky I'm in a forgiving mood today. Next time you won't be so lucky." 18 snapped her fingers and the guys followed her as she stomped away pushing people out of her way as she stormed down the hall. Krillin laughed as he watched her go and turned back to the group.

Chi chi sighed and said, "Krillin you can't keep pushing their buttons like that!"

"Why not?" He laughed. "It's fun."

"If you weren't a martial artist I might be worried about you." Chi chi admonished playfully chastising her fellow student. They had been friends since they were small. At age four they had both started martial arts lessons with Krillin's grandfather.

Meanwhile..."I've had enough of this pointless fighting! If it doesn't stop you'll both be banned from school activities and possibly suspended! Do you understand?" The principal yelled at Goku and Vegeta.

"Yes sir." "Whatever."

"Now get out of my office, you don't live here." Vegeta and Goku exited the office without a word. Their friends waited on either side of the hall in a tense silence. The entire cheerleading squad and football team ran to comfort Goku. "Yeah, yeah I'm fine." He mumbled sending Vegeta a glare.

18, Turles, and Nappa nodded to Vegeta as he approached them and he nodded back. Two pale girls with black dyed hair walked up to him and took his arms indifferently. He smirked at them and then glared at Goku. Bulma touched Goku's arm sympathetically. "I'm sorry you had to experience that Goku, but you shouldn't let that freak get under your skin."

Vegeta growled at her and if looks could kill he would be dead from the daggers she shot him. Something deep inside stirred to life when she looked at him like that. It was a mixture of hate and....something else he could not place. "She's right Goku don't let her get under your skin." Vegeta smirked at Bulma as her face turned bright red and she huffed away the entire group following her. Vegeta laughed and nodded as his posse followed him down the opposite halll.

The next period passed without incident and then came lunch. Lunch time at West High was more like a battle than anythingelse. Survival of the fittus applied to all as each clique vied for space and food. The preps manipulated their way to the front of the line and got their food first giving them the best go for the good tables. Then the B crowd intimidated their way up the line leaving the scraps for the outcasts and retreating to their dark corners.

Chi chi was near the front of the line and her stomach was already growling hungrily. Much to her chagrin Vegeta and his pack cut her sending her back a few precious spaces. 18 just turned and grinned at her menacingly. She growled under her breath, but on the outside she turned her head away and minded her own business. She was painfully shy even with her strength, intelligence, and beauty behind her. When she finally reached the front, they were down to the dregs. She groaned hungrily and took the nastiness begrudgingly. 'School food's never good anyway.' She thought. She was staring at her plate of mush as she walked through the cafe to her friends at their usual table. Since she wasn't watching where she was going she didn't see Bulma get up from her table and spin around with a flourish heading for the door. She walked right into her. The tray fell to the floor with a loud clang and Chi chi and Bulma were instantly splattered with mush. Bulma squealed in horror at the sight of her perfect clothes covered in greasy school food. Chi chi just stood their frozen with shock. The entire room went silent and turned to stare at the scene as it unfolded. "Would you watch where you're going!" Bulma screamed frantically wiping food off her clothes.

"I'm sorry." Chi chi whispered.

"You better be!" She growled glaring at Chi chi. From across the room Vegeta, 18 and the rest of their group laughed at the enraged look on the uncrowned princess of the preps face. Bulma's cheerleader friends came to her clothes' rescue as Bulma continued to fume at Chi chi. Finally after she had called Chi chi every name she knew, her and all her girlfriends huffed off to the bathroom. Once Bulma left the scene the students returned to their normal conversations once again ignoring Chi chi.

Chi chi sighed and knelt down to retrieve her sticky tray, but was stopped by a strong hand on her shoulder. "Allow me." She looked up to see none other than Goku stoop to pick up her tray. He handed it to her and she knew her face was beet red by now. He chuckled slightly and she was mesmerized by the way his face lightened with laughter. "You should look up when you walk, then you could see where you're going and we could all see those pretty eyes of yours." She blushed even more and instinctively looked away. He smiled at her and walked away, leaving her dumb struck in the center of the cafeteria. "Thank you. You have pretty eyes too." She stuttered after he had gone causing her to beat her forehead with the tray. "That was so stupid!"
