Chapter 10
Another week passed at West High only things weren't exactly normal. Friday:
Goku and Chi chi were always together. They held hands in the hall and sat together in class and at lunch. Goku didn't mind sitting with her and her C crowd friends who were astonished when they heard about the relationship. They were greatly intimidated by his presence at first, but soon they learned he was a nice guy and became more comfortable around him. Goku even patched things up with Krillin. He apologized for ditching him and promised that he was changed. Krillin forgave him and things were good.
The A crowd couldn't believe Goku's behavior. He hadn't come to practices that whole week and his team mates were wondering what had gone awry with their best player. Truth be told Goku had decided to play only the sports he enjoyed and had been so entrigued by Chi chi's martial arts he had joined her dojo. He hadn't yet told his father, but he would cross that bridge when he came to it. He was finally living his life the way he wanted too.
Bulma and Vegeta had also decided to come together after their night of passion. Bulma wanted to be herself so she quit all the offices she didn't want and was with Vegeta all the time. Vegeta's friends had trouble adjusting to the boss's new girl, but she was just as fierce as him so they immediately fell into the same routines as they had with Vegeta. When Bulma's father found out about her new beau he was instantly enraged. He blamed Vegeta for her dropping out of all her clubs and changing her style. Bulma retalliated by saying this was who she wanted to be and that being with Vegeta wouldn't affect her grades! So Dr. Briefs was forced to accept it.
Vegeta had never been happier. Bulma loved him the way he was and completed her in a way no one else could. The scandal was too big to describe, but he just laughed at their horrorified looks as he and Bulma made out in public. Bulma no longer cared what everyone else thought as she was too wrapped up in her love life with Vegeta. Let them see the bad ass kissing the Princess she didn't mind.
18 hadn't lost her temper in two weeks and her plan worked Krillin noticed. She was still a punk, but a much more docile one. Krillin's curiosity soon got the better of him. After school he tracked her down walking home. Luckily she was alone, he walked up beside her and said, "Hi."
She almost jumped when she heard his voice and she stopped dead in her tracks. "Oh hey Krillin." She replied nervously.
"I noticed you haven't been yourself lately." Krillin commented. 18 crossed her arms. "What makes you say that?" She asked.
"Well you seem really calm and you haven't beat anyone up in over two weeks." He smiled at her as she turned away from him.
"Well maybe I decided it wasn't worth my time to beat up on people anymore. Maybe this is who I really am." She stated firmly.
Krillin scratched his head nervously. "I like this version of you." He said blushing.
18 spun around to look at him. "Really?" She said raising an eyebrow at him.
"Really. Is there anyway I could get to know you a little better?" Krillin grinned playfully.
18 smiled at him and kissed his forehead. Krillin blushed. "Well I'm singing at Off Topic tomorrow night. Come watch me." She winked at him.
"You can sing?" Krillin asked. "Yes." She smiled shyly.
"I'd love to hear you."
"It's a date then." 18 smiled and waved at him as she walked away. Krillin just stared for a minute before grinning and turned to walk home. "Welcome back Juu."
18 ran into her house and shut the door when she knew no one was home she jumped up and punched the air. "Yes!"
While Vegeta and Krillin's relationships were starting to flourish Goku had no idea that his was about to suffer a blow that it might not survive.
Goku had just finished soccer practice. It was one of the sports he decided to keep when his former friends walked up to him. "What's the deal Goku?" They asked aggitatedly.
"Look guys..." Goku was about to tell them that he wasn't going to use Chi chi when they interrupted him. "No you look, the bet was that you seduce her and then you're done with her none of this dating her. The football team is suffering, when are you going to give up this useless charade!?"
What none of them knew was that Chi chi was close enough to hear every word. She stopped dead in her tracks when she heard what they said. Her heart sank so low that she didn't think she could feel it beating anymore. Tear began to well up in her eyes and she ran.
"Listen guys the bet is off." Goku stood up to face them.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean I won't use Chi chi like that. I love her so just fuck off!" He started to walk away. One of them put his hand on Goku's shoulder to stop him.
"You can't just..."
Before he could finish Goku turned around and punched him in the face. "Yes I can! We're done!" So Goku had stood up to his so called friends, but now he couldn't find Chi chi. He went home and called her house and when Chi chi picked up he could hear her sniffling.
"Chi chi what's wrong? I've been looking all over for you."
Chi chi growled. "I'm sure you were! I heard you talking with your friends well you can forget it Goku! I don't ever want to see you again!" With that she slammed the phone down hanging up on him. She threw herself on her bed and cried some more.
Goku was stunned. His mouth hung open and he felt his heart break. He hung his head and pushed back tears. He loved Chi chi and he would do anything to win her back, but at the moment things looked bleak. Then Bardock walked into the room with a scowl on his scarred face. "I just heard you quit the football team, what is the meaning of this?" Goku just glared at his father and said, "I don't want to talk about this now. I have bigger problems." Goku walked past him and went straight to his room. Bardock was about to follow him when Radditz, who had heard the telephone conversation and the father son conversation that followed, stopped him. "Dad not now." The look in Radditz's eyes told Bardock to leave it alone and so reluctantly he did.
Goku sat up all night trying to think of a way to talk to Chi chi when it occured to him what to do. Early the next morning he drove to Krillin's house.
"Please Krillin, please talk to her!" Goku pleaded after telling Krillin all the circumstances of his situation. Krillin sat at the table staring at Goku, he was still half asleep and hardly registering what Goku was saying. He rubbed his sleepy head and looked at Goku again. Krillin chuckled. "Man you look pathetic." Goku was sleep deprived and grief stricken.
Goku chuckled a little and looked in the dining room mirror. "You're right I do look a mess."
"Why are you taking this so hard? It's only been two weeks." Krillin reasoned.
Goku sighed and ran a hand through his unruly hair. "I know, it's just... I love her. She understands me in a way no one ever has."
Krillin could hear the sadness in Goku's voice. He suspected that Chi chi felt the same way as he did so he nodded. "Alright, I'll talk to her."
Goku jumped up, knocking the chair over. "Thank you Krillin!"
"Sure sure. Now leave me be to get dressed!" Krillin said as he shooed Goku out of the house. "It's not enough that I'm a genius martial artist and everybody's best friend. Now I have to play love doctor too." He grumbled as headed off to the shower.
Sorry the beginning of this chapter was kind of summarized I don't have much time these days.
