Anywho, here's chapter ten of:

Sacrificing Love

Chapter Ten:

It had been a week since he left. Even though Bulma hadn't really met the guy, based on all the talks that she had with Chi Chi, she felt as if she had truly known Kakarrot. She could only imagine how much hatred he had for Frieza, the cruel tyrant who killed off almost all of his blood. The event had brought all of Vegeta-sei in a state of confusion. The being that was supposed to take down Frieza and liberate their race, was now enslaved by the one creature that had caused them the most of their troubles. The `legend' was no legend any longer; it was only a huge deception.

Chi Chi had been detached from the rest of the Saiyans, only visiting Bulma when she was in dire need of some comfort. Bulma was happy to give up all of her help, if possible, since the situation was not totally unlike her own. Chi Chi had lost her mate, Bulma had lost hers. She knew what it felt like to lose the one who had understood her most, what the pain felt like.

Ever since the incident with Kakarrot happened, she had been constantly working on a way to defeat Frieza. Bulma could leave whenever she wanted to, but she was compelled to stay and try to save the planet that she had lived on in the past few months, because she knew that Frieza wasn't going to leave Vegeta-sei in the peace that he had promised them.

Everyone on the planet knew that, and that fact was the reason that the rebellion was stronger than before, becoming more and more intense everyday. All their hopes had turned back to Prince Vegeta, the man who they had worshiped before all the chaos had begun. Bulma hadn't seen much of him since he had been beaten by Frieza, and she could only imagine what the defeat had done to his pride. She wanted to reach out to him, but she knew that she would only be turned away.

So Bulma spent most of her time at the laboratory, from dawn until dusk, creating new devices to eliminate the lizard man who she had found that she herself had begun to hate in only a short time. He had to be stopped, and she was more determined to see that finally happen.

Vegeta paused in his training to wipe some of the sweat that had formed on his brow. He was in the gravity room for at least twenty hours a day, only taking one hour combined to eat his meals, and only about three hours to sleep. He had to get stronger. He must…

He should have been the one who was forced into servitude to save his planet. His. Not the low-class warrior that had taken his own destiny away from him. He was the one who should be a Super-Saiyan; he had trained so hard for three years straight, not that imbecile. "Kakarrot," he said to no one in particular. "I will be stronger than you!"

And with that, he let out a burst of his ki, not even noticing how the metal of the controls dented and caved in, or was he aware of his eyes flickering briefly from black to green. All he knew was the anger he felt inside of him.

Bulma sighed as she sunk down in her bed and tried to catch some of the sleep that she had deprived herself of in the past few days. After finding that she must have had a severe case of insomnia, she got up and sat at the foot of the bed. She glanced at the trunk that King Vegeta had rewarded her with after making the gravity room. On it laid her Capsule Corp outfit. She smiled slightly as she picked up the shirt. "I wonder what everybody's doing…" She said, as she threw it back on top of her jeans.

Bulma's eyebrows rose as she saw something fall from her clothes. She looked down and picked up the object. "My anti-shock device from the plumbing accident…" Then the idea hit her. "That's it!" She clutched the small plastic object and bolted out of the room.

Vegeta walked down the hallways to the servant quarters. Once again, he had destroyed the gravity room, and once again, he found himself coming down here, demanding that the woman who built it repair it. It wasn't as if she had anything else to do.

Opening her door, not bothering to knock, he walked inside her room, only to find it empty. He was about to leave until he noticed one of her garments on a wooden trunk. He walked over and picked it up. It smelled of her. He remembered what her scent could do to his senses. Without thinking, he brought the cloth to his nose and inhaled.

"Ouji-sama. I didn't mean to interrupt."

Vegeta turned around to see Kakarrot's mate standing in the doorway. He threw the piece of clothing back onto the trunk and crossed his arms. "What is it that you want?"

Chi Chi's face broke into a small smile, the first one in the whole week. She knew what he was doing, since she had been watching him for a couple of minutes before she said anything. "I was looking for Bulma. And I can see that she isn't here." She turned back around. "That's okay. You can go back to sniffing her shirt."

Vegeta dematerialized and reappeared in front of her. Grabbing the orange shawl that draped around her shoulders, he lifted her slightly off of the floor. "One word of this to Bulma, and I swear-"

"Don't worry, Vegeta-ouji. I'm not going to tell her. She already knows that she shouldn't get to attached to anything here, since she's going to leave Vegeta-sei soon and go back to her home planet." Chi Chi released herself from his grip. "There would be no point."

"Good." He took a step back from Kakarrot's mate. "Should you be in the kitchen, making something for my pathetic father to eat?"

Chi Chi nodded. "Yes, Ouji-sama." She bowed and walked past him out of the room.

Leaving? She was going to leave?

Vegeta's mood darkened as he made his way to the laboratory. Of course, she would. She must have saw him with Frieza and decided that it was too dangerous to be here. But something that he couldn't identify struck him, and pained him on the inside.

-------

Bulma's tweezers fell out of her hand as she heard Vegeta throw open the door. He was angry, angrier than usual. "Is there something wrong, Ouji-sama?"

"The gravity room is broken." Vegeta said as he stood in front of her and looked down on her project. "What in the hell is that?"

Bulma smiled. "This is something that I believe you'll find most interesting. I had made it to absorb any kind of potential electricity that it encountered." She poked it with her tweezers again. "It was necessary when a water pipe had burst in our home near one of the power lines that goes into our house. That's why-"

"How is this going to interest me?" Vegeta asked in a gruff voice.

She ignored his tone and continued. "I altered it to absorb large amounts of electricity, larger than the amount that can be conducted through water." At Vegeta's blank stare, she explained it more thoroughly. "Electricity is made mostly pure energy. Natural to be exact. And if it can take natural energy-"

"-Then it can take Frieza's energy as well." Vegeta said, having caught in to the concept.

"What? Frieza? I thought that the battle wasn't going to be won with metal." Bulma said, with a smirk on her face.

"That isn't metal, woman. That's plastic."

"Whatever, Prince Vegeta. Just admit that you didn't think that I could create anything that was going to be of use to you…until now."

"I will never admit anything that is in the same realm as defeat."

"Oh, some day, Vegeta-ouji, you are going to have to admit defeat." Bulma got up and grabbed her tools. "Well, then…Let's get the gravity room working again."
