"Uh, Goku?"
The brawny male turned to Bulma, surprised to hear uncertainty in her normally strong and forceful voice. The sour stench of fear hit him full in the face, rolling off of the two teenagers in waves. He almost took a step back but forced his rebellious body to still.
"Raife? Kurai, what's wrong?"
The girl's eyes were wide and fully dilated, even in the harsh florescent lights. The fur on her tail was puffed straight out, giving it the appearance of being three times it's normal size, even as it curled around her left thigh. Raife was in slightly better condition. His emerald hued eyes narrowed at Bulma, his fists clenched and white-knuckled at his sides.
"Kakarotto." His voice was strained as he called to his fellow Saiyajin. "Who is this?"
Goku swallowed, his senses picking up on the quickly rising ki of the boy, and Kurai's own as it spiked wildly.
"This is Briefs Bulma, my friend. And Vejita's former wife."
He added the last part without thinking, something just compelling to utter those words.
Emerald eyes flickered uncertainly to the tall Saiyajin. "Wife?"
Goku nodded, slowly moving to stand at the scientist's side. "It's almost like a mate, only without the bond."
Raife knew what a mate was. He looked at the aqua-haired woman again. Vejita's former mate? He was mildly disgusted, wondering how the Prince of all Saiyajins would mate with this weak, tailless female. His lip twitched slightly, unconsciously trying to sneer. But…she had been his Ouji's mate…he had to respect that, no matter how hard.
The wild-haired male felt Ray's ki stop its ascent, though it did not go down. The 19-year-old's tail slid from around his waist to forcefully twine with his sister's own monkey-like appendage. He began to purr deep in his chest, letting the sound role out and comfort Kurai. The minute and visibly undetectable tremors that had begun to take hold of her body slowly subsided.
She was Vejita-sama's mate Ku-chan. We need not fear her as long as the Prince is here.
Kurai understood, but refused to trust the lab coat clad female before her.
Bulma sighed when she saw and felt the two young aliens relax. Well, visibly relax in the fact that their eyes returned to normal. She smiled as warmly as she could, still ready to bolt if the need arose.
"Bulma, these are two Saiyajins Vejita and I came across while we were sparring." Kakarot gestured to the male. "That's Raife, and the girl is Kurai, his younger sister."
The ningen nodded, still smiling. "It's nice to meet the both of you. Goku tells me you'll be staying with us."
Raife twitched, presumably in acknowledgment. "If that is what our Ouji wishes." He replied stiffly.
"Well…you all must be hungry. Come on into the kitchen and we'll see what Vejita hasn't eaten already." Bulma said, trying to sound as upbeat as possible. She turned and followed the hallway that the Prince had taken only moments before. Goku trailed behind with a large, goofy grin plastered on his face, happy at the prospect of food. The siblings stayed close behind, silent as they took in the route.
Vejita only glanced up from the heavily laden table as the four people entered, before returning to wolf down as much food as possible since Kakarot would be joining him soon. The aforementioned Saiyajin trotted quickly into the large room and made a b-line for the enormous fridge on the opposite wall. Opening it up, he proceeded to remove the remaining provisions and move to the table. Bulma smiled and shook her head.
"Papa!"
"Daddy!"
Two voices shrieked happily, the sound reverberating off of the walls to strike in sensitive ears. The two older men looked up as two small bodies hurtled through the doorway and threw themselves unmercifully at the two Saiyajins.
Goku looked down, startled, at the mini carbon copy of himself that now occupied his lap. "Hey Goten! How've you been today?"
The chibi grinned merrily. "Great!" The little boy gathered a perplexed look on his face. "Daddy, wha' was all the ki doin' a mini ago?"
Goku smiled at his son's childish speech. He glanced at Vejita, who was watching him from behind a façade of mild curiosity. Seems the Prince hadn't missed the unusual display either. Kakarot felt his pulse start to quicken slightly before returning to look his son. Smiling, he said, "Those were are two guests, Goten. They'll be staying with us." Goku looked up and smiled at the brother and sister, who still seemed rather uneasy, but not so much.
Vejita grunted at the two and flickered his midnight eyes to some other chairs set around the table. Kurai strode forward and plopped down to Kakarot's right and tugged Raife to sit to her right and the Prince's left. Ray glanced at the lavender-haired boy, who watched him with a stoic expression and stood just beside the flame-haired elder.
"Your heir, Ouji-sama?"
The Prince grunted, refusing to look away from his food again. "Trunks."
A coal black brow raised slightly over one emerald eye. "An interesting name."
Vejita paused in his consumption and scowled at the teen, who turned a faint shade of crimson. "Gomen nasai Ouji-sama."
Ebony eyes still regarded the teen harshly. "The onna's idea." His tone slammed the door on the subject. Ray swallowed and nodded, turning to stare at the table. Bulma, who had been silent during the entire exchange, huffed loudly and scowled at Vejita.
"Well it's not like you had much say in the matter. You were in outer space when he was born, trying to surpass Goku again."
The Ouji did not respond, though his normally scowling face lost some of its hardness. Swallowing his food, Vejita pushed the rest his meal away.
"Papa, who are these people?" Trunks finally piped up.
The Prince glanced at the two siblings to his left. Ray still sat quietly, seeming to find the tabletop fascinating. His sister, on the other hand, munched contentedly on an apple she had copped from Vejita's abandoned food. The Prince scowled, not approving of the girl's assumption that his food was up for grabs. He then took in Goku's hunched form as the Third-class consumed his meal with a wild abandon that would turn even another Saiyajin's stomach. Goten, though still young, knew what it meant to get between his father and food, and had wisely hopped off of his lap. Now, he just seemed fascinated with something under the table. The Prince chalked it up to being Kakarot's son. A solid argument if he'd ever heard one. Thinking back to his own son's question, Vejita glanced back at the whelp, who stood quietly waiting for his father to answer him.
"Two Saiyajins the baka and I picked up."
Trunks nodded, appearing satisfied with the abrupt answer.
Goten giggled, catching the chibi prince's attention. Trunks abandoned his father in favor of his best friend, wanting to know what was so funny and why he hadn't known about it first. Ray glanced at Kakarot's carbon-copy son and smiled, glancing at Kurai. She was working on a third apple and oblivious to the happy children beside her or the stares she was receiving from Vejita and Bulma. Goku was still too preoccupied with eating to really take notice.
"I think you've made some friends Kurai." The female scientist acknowledged as she took a puff from her cigarette.
"I don't know what you're talking about." The brunette girl mumbled around a bite of the red fruit.
The wild haired Saiyajin finally took notice, watching the two chibis with a happy, stomach-sated grin. "They really like your tail. I don't think they even remember theirs…"
Vejita glanced at his companion, then stood and looked at his former wife. "Onna, set up two guest rooms in my wing. I'm going to take a shower." The Prince ordered, brushing past the woman and heading down the hall.
Bulma didn't even acknowledge the order, instead, she glanced out the window at the slowly descending sol. "Goku," she called to her friend. The brawny male turned to her. "Yeah Bulma?"
"It's getting late. Why don't you, Goten and Gohan stay tonight? Gohan's probably fallen asleep at his books anyway." She smiled faintly.
Goku grinned. "That'd be great Bulma, thanks!" He said, getting up.
"Good. You'll have your usual rooms." Turning to the siblings, who had remained silent, she motioned for them to follow as she headed down the hall.
The teens stood up and trailed after her, the two chibis still playing with Kurai's auburn tail as it swung just out of their reach and Kakarot behind them. The scientist sent the demi-Saiyajins down another corridor they come upon, telling them to get ready for bed. The boys ran away giggling madly, most likely thinking of some place to hide to get out of sleeping.
The hall soon widened, doors widely spaced along each wall. Goku said goodnight to the aqua-haired ningen and the siblings and went to a door he seemed well acquainted with, disappearing inside.
Several doors down, Bulma stopped and opened up door. She smiled and gestured for the teens to step in. They did so with mild trepidation.
The room was quite large, a bay window lighting the room from the far side. The walls were white and undecorated, a king sized bed on the wall to the right and a bureau of walnut across from it. Another door led off to the left, presumable to the bathroom. A deep blue carpet sat in the middle of the room at the end of the bed, the rest of the floor a deep mahogany.
"This'll be your room Kurai." Bulma said.
Leaving the door open, she went across the hall to another door. Inside, it was much the same as the Kurai's room, save the carpet was burgundy. "And this is yours Raife. You're welcome to roam a bit, just don't stray too far from here until I get the chance to show you around. And if you have any questions, I'd advise going to see Goku." She said and began to leave.
"Where is Vejita-sama's room?"
She stopped and glanced back at Raife. His face was set, telling her this was something he was going to find out. Bulma sighed and pointed still farther up the hall. "Most of the rooms up there are Vejita's. But I'd really advise staying out of his way. Of course, it's up to you." That said, she walked briskly back down the hall, hoping the two chibis hadn't destroyed anything in her absence, and leaving the two teenaged Saiyajins to their own devices.
