Saiyan Pride
Chapter Three
His Woman and Child
VEGETA went down to the dining hall where Trunks was having lunch with Zoron. 'Trunks.' Vegeta thought. My son. He could not believe that his Bulma would have kept it a secret from him forever. `His Bulma!' There was no going back now. They were his now.
She had changed in seven years. Her features even more beautiful than he remembered. Or maybe it was so long since he had seen her. He smirked at the thought. Her gentle curves had filled out gorgeously. Only her long tresses were gone. He had like it long and unruly. Now it was short and sleek.
The woman he had not managed to banish from his mind for seven years. Her face, her scent and her voice haunted him every day and night. He had to get away from the Castle for everywhere he looked she was there. Tormenting him with thoughts of what could have been. So he had gone to the Kamotose War on Planet Kamo to unleash his raging anger and pain.
But finally, when the war had ended he had thought he had succeeded. Succeeded in letting her go. But then he had learned of their son. The feelings that had plagued him for years came flooding back as if a dam had burst inside of him. 'And that was saying something for a man who hadn't felt a single foolish emotion in his entire life. Before he met her of course.' He thought ruefully.
Faith had ensured that he would never forget her. Never!
He looked at his son sitting at the table eating large helpings of food with gusto. `The boy definitely had a Saiyan appetite.' Vegeta smirked.
His son. Although he looked just like his mother with that lavender colored hair. 'Who had lavender hair?' Vegeta mused. And those blue eyes were a replica of his mothers.
Though with his furry tail waving around freely his Saiyan genes were visible. Vegeta noticed that he kept his tail the way Gohan and Kakarot had, not the way Vegeta did, around his waist. It was those simple actions that brought home to Vegeta how much he had missed of his sons growing up. Though it also surprised him that he actually wanted to be apart of the boys life.
"Prince Vegeta." Zoron stood as Vegeta approached.
"Your mother would like to see you now." Vegeta told the boy.
Trunks turned excited eyes towards him. "Oh yeppy. She's awake." He said as he dropped his food and flew up to the room he had seen his mother in earlier.
When Trunks left Vegeta turned to Zoron. "How the hell did Cold know about them?" Vegeta asked. "I thought you had said the information was kept confidential. Does that mean we have a traitor amongst my people?"
"I'm not sure Sir. But it could be that he had a satellite on Earth like we did. He might have been thinking of purging Earth." Zoron said.
"Earth is still safe so I don't think so. Solve the problem Zoron." Vegeta demanded.
"Yes Prince Vegeta." The older man bowed before he left.
'Now I have a son to be formally introduced to.' Vegeta thought as he went back the way he had come.

"Mum." Trunks laughed joyously as he ran towards her launching himself in her arms. She caught him easily as she did everyday and hugged him tightly placing a kiss on his soft hair.
They sat on the balcony together as Trunks told Bulma what had happened.
"I heard the explosion. So I got out of bed to come check for you when these three large ugly looking guys ran straight for me." Trunks babbled excitedly, describing the events as if it were some fun adventure he had been on. "I tried to fight them but they ganged up on me. The cowards. Anyway I beat this one guy to a pulp, but the other two were a little stronger than me so I made an energy shield mom. They couldn't even touch me." Trunks said with not a touch of modesty in his voice.
"And I bet you pulled down your pants and showed them your bottom." Bulma held back her laugh, not only because she knew her son so well but because he possessed all his father's mannerisms. Pride, independence, bravery and vanity. And at times he could be just as arrogant as Vegeta.
"Awww mom." The boy blushed.
"Ok, never mind that. What happened next?"
"Well then Vegeta showed up. He looks a lot like Uncle Goku doesn't he mom. They have the same hair and eyes and he had a tail like us and ..."
"Yes Trunks." Bulma cut of her son's rambling. "I know Vegeta."
"Oh yeah. He said that. But I didn't put down my shield at first. So he said he knew you and Gohan and he showed me his tail. I decided he wasn't all that bad, and put down my shield. After all he did beat those other two guys up. It was so cool mom. He's so fast and strong I could barely keep up with his movements." Trunks looked at his mother with a sparkle she had not seen in his eyes before. She saw that Trunks was viewing Vegeta as some sort of hero.
It had never occurred to her how much she had truly deprived her son off until that moment. She had left too much to Goku. A man who had so much love to give, though it was just not the same for Trunks.
"Then what happened Trunks?"
"Then he asked me where you were and after we checked your room we checked the lab. You were in pretty bad shape. But he took care of you."
"But why did you let him put us in his ship and bring us here?" Bulma asked Trunks.
The little boy looked at his mother with a frown. "He said that he came to protect us. That we were in lots of danger and that we had to come with him to be safe. I didn't know he was taking us to another planet mom. I'm sorry."
"Its ok hun, it's not your fault." Bulma told her son as she hugged him.
"But this is great mom. A real Castle and a Prince who rescued us. It can be like that holiday you've promised to take me on. A real adventure. Can you imagine Goten's face when I tell him about all of this. Wow mom. You never told me you knew a prince."
"Your mother is very good at keeping secrets." A voice said from the doorway. Vegeta stepped into the balcony to join them. He leaned against the balaster while watching the mother and son sitting on the large Arabian styled couch.
"Hey Vegeta." Trunks said excitedly not noticing the way Vegeta's teeth ground together or his fists clenched at his son calling him by his name. Though Bulma noticed.
Vegeta could not believe his son was calling him by his name. And so casually too. It was disrespectful. Though he could not blame the boy, no it was not his fault after all.
Vegeta turned his gaze to the person whose fault this was and looked at her demandingly.
Bulma knew the time had come!

Meanwhile somewhere on the Planet Ice an angry king was being given the news.
"You failed." King Cold said calmly. Thought the soldier before him knew that this was when the King was at his deadliest.
"Sire, Vegeta showed up and rescued the woman and boy. He killed the rest of our men." The soldier pleaded.
"So why then, are you still alive Jeice?"
The orange colored man gulped before whispering. "He sent me to give you a message Sire."
"Speak up Jeice I can not hear you. What is this message that the monkey has sent for me?" King Cold's voice became more threatening.
"He said to tell you that ..." The man faltered.
"Do not make me ask you again Jeice."
"He said to tell you that if you were stupid enough to show your ugly face he would rip you into pieces before making you into a lizard soup and that if you had half a brain in your over sized head you would stay away from his woman and child." Jeice repeated Vegeta's words at a fast rate.
It was words Vegeta had ensured he never forgot for the Saiyan had said each word over and over again as he had brutally hit Jeice's head against the wall before screaming the words into Jeice's ears.
"Did he now. How interesting." King Cold said before sending a deadly beam of red light straight through Jeice's chest.
"You know what to do." King Cold looked at their silent observer.
"Of course." The man bowed before leaving King Cold.
