Saiyan Pride
Chapter Eight
Too Good to be True
"A special treat for a special lady." Bulma looked up to see an old friend who she had recently reacquainted herself with.
"Max." Bulma giggled as the handsome Commander of the Saiyan Army waved a large tray in her face.
"I thought you night like something to eat." He told her before setting down the tray at her work bench.
"Mmm, smells good." Bulma said as she uncovered the tray. "My favorites. You spoil me. Lunch, supper ... What next?" She smiled at her friend.
"Well you work too hard! I'm surprised your other half allows it." Max said.
Bulma smiled at her friend. He was really good company and she was very fond of him but he could be a little annoying with his doubts about Vegeta's feelings for her.
Max would ask her everyday if she was "alright" and eventually Bulma had to tell him that if he did not stop asking her that then she would not speak to him again because she had never been happier in her life!
Which was the absolute truth! She felt like she was floating on a cloud, everyday. She worked at the lab to her hearts content, while Vegeta and Trunks did what they did best - train to become stronger and after the small family of three had supper together they would retire for the night.
Bulma's favorite time of the day. She smiled as she thought of the hours Vegeta and her would spend making mad passionate love. She doubted there was a position or place they had yet to try. Not that that had caused the passion they felt for each other to dim, it seemed only to increase. It was addictive. Bulma sighed.
"I don't work hard at all." She protested but at the sight of Max's raised brow she added, "Well its not really work when you love what you're doing. Anyway Vegeta and Trunks are having a late training session because Vegeta was caught up in some meetings today."
"Well I'm surprised he hasn't popped up yet." Max said as he looked behind Bulma's shoulder.
"Max." Bulma scolded, only the effect was lost as she laughed at his comment.
"The guys like your shadow. Whenever I'm around or any other he thinks might steal you away from him he appears like this." Max snapped his fingers to show what he meant.
"He's a little possessive, so what? I wouldn't have it any other way." Bulma said honestly. "And he let's me spend time with you doesn't he? Because he knows that for me no one will ever compare to him."
"Yeah, you're something else alright. He's very lucky."
"Thank you." Bulma smiled at her friend before tucking in to her meal.
"And its good that he's so protective over you. Especially with everything going on at the moment." Max referred to the fact that King Cold's men were attacking members of the Saiyan Army while they were away on missions, showing his intentions of revenge for Vegeta.
"Yes. Especially after how we were attacked on Earth."
"You know I'm surprised Vegeta didn't go straight to Planet Ice and beat King Cold to death." Max and Bulma both laughed at that.
"Me too. But Vegeta is not all brawn you know. He said that Cold would be expecting him to do just that so he would would be playing right into the maniacs hands. Vegeta also feels that he has a main objective that has something to with Trunks and I so Vegeta refuses to put us at risk before he knows exactly what's going on."
"Yes, Vegeta is very smart when it comes to battle. Mentally he is unbeatable." Max commended.
"Yeah. And not to mention his more than positive now, that we have a traitor amongst us. After all how else would Cold know the exact destinations of the army's missions."
Max nodded just as Trunks came flying into the Lab. "Hey mom. Max." The boy greeted as he sat next to his mother and helped himself to her food.
"You need a bath before dinner." Bulma told her son.
"Mom, dad just put me through the ringer with a five hour sparing match. The only thing I have on my mind is food." Trunks said in between stuffing his mouth. He was sweaty, battered and bruised.
Six months ago that would have bothered her though with Vegeta's reassurance and the Isolation Chamber Bulma had finally gotten used to the idea of seeing her son in such a state. And Trunks never complained.
"Where is your father by the way?" Bulma asked.
"He went to shower. He looks just as bad as me." Trunks smirked. He liked the idea that he could keep up with his father. "Mom." The boy complained as Bulma took away a sweet treat from him.
"You have an unhealthy appetite for desserts." Bulma told her son making Max laugh.
"Mom, I'm half Saiyan, I have an unhealthy appetite for everything."
"Well you're also half Earthling and the last thing I want is for you to have rotten teeth." Bulma chided.
"You know on Fordon they live on sweets." Trunks gave her a fact on a planet she had not even heard of.
He liked to do this when he couldn't get his way. Thanks to spending a lot of time with Zoron, Trunks was full of planetary trivia.
"Now that's a planet I wouldn't mind visiting." Max said as he sneaked a sweet to Trunks, winking at him.
Trunks stuffed the sweet quickly into his mouth while his mother shot daggers at Max. "Nah." Trunks said after her completed his chewing. "If there's one planet I would like to visit, its Namek."
"Namek?" Bulma asked.
"Yeah. Apparently they have this dragon there that grants you any wish you want." Trunks said excitedly.
"Trunks, dragons that grant wishes don't exist." Bulma said receiving an eye roll from her son.
"Honestly mom, you're becoming as cynical as dad. You used to be much more open minded before." Trunks said as he watched the look of surprise that crossed his mothers face. "Ok, got to go." He said as he felt a lecture coming on. He hopped of the bench and kissed his mother quickly on the cheek. "Night mom, love you. Max." He he bid farewell as he flew off.
Max laughed. "He's a good kid."
"Yes. He is." Bulma smiled.
"Well this is cozy." Vegeta said from the doorway.
"Sire." Max got up to bow to Vegeta.
"Hey hun." Bulma said as she cleared up the remains of her food, most of which was gobbled up by Trunks.
She saw the faint blush on Vegeta's cheeks. It was so cute and Bulma could not help herself. He was not a man for displays of public affection but just to see her strong warrior mate blush because of her was irresistible temptation.
"I should be going." Max said as he touched Bulma lightly on the arm before leaving.
"Thanks for dinner." Bulma winked at Max.
"Doesn't he have anything better to do?" Vegeta mumbled.
"I thought you were taking a shower." Bulma said ignoring his very predictable mumbling.
"I was. But you weren't there and who would scrub my back?" He smirked as he came to wrap his arms around her.
"Your tail can do that perfectly fine. So what was the real reason you cam looking for me my Prince." Bulma teased as she playfully moved her lips away from him before his could kiss hers.
"Witch." He growled at her teasing. "Well if you want to play that way." Vegeta said as he lifted her off her feet and into his arms.
"Vegeta, you're insatiable." Bulma said as she felt his arousal against her hip.
"You're one to talk. " He said as he smelt her own arousal.
That's all it took. One suggestive look, one heated touch or one caressing whisper to bring them to this point of want and need. It was probably why their bond was so strong.
Bulma blushed. "Well you definitely need that shower because you stink."
Vegeta growled as he rubbed his face against her side, knowing how ticklish she was.
"I'm ... Going ... To ... Get ... You back for that!" Bulma promised in between giggles.
"Oh, I can't wait." Vegeta smirked.
Things could not get better than this! However when things seemed too good to be true - they generally were!
