Saiyan Pride
Chapter Thirteen
Vegeta's Transformation
BULMA felt the blade of the sword deep inside of her stomach. It happened so quickly, so unexpectedly that no one, not even she, could have stopped it.
She placed her hand below the sword and looked down to see her entire palm drenched in blood. Her blood. It was only when the truth of what had just happened finally register, did she feel pain. Sharp, spiking pains that made it difficult to breathe for every time she did the pain would increase ten fold. She let the weight of the sword and her pain drop her to her knees before she fell on her back.
As if Trunks, Goku, Gohan, Goten and Zoron had also only just registered the reality of the situation, they ran towards Bulma, calling out to her.
Vegeta was paralyzed with shock. It was as if he had watched Bulma being stabbed in slow motion and now he could not get that moment out of his mind. It flashed right before his eyes, over and over again.
But at the sight of her pale face looking in horror at her blood filled hands Vegeta felt her pain. The sharp, poking pain that did not want to stop. When she fell to the ground his body, as if on automaton, flew towards her.
His mind was in a daze of fog he could not clear, all he could feel was Bulma's pain. He went over to her and Zoron moved away slightly so Vegeta could drop down onto his knees before his mate. His dying mate! No he could not let that happen.
All his life he had not known happiness, not known love and what it felt like to actually have someone care for you! There was no way the cruelty of faith was going to take that away from him.
Yes, it made him weak, for now he felt fear for others, the need to protect and even love! He knew he was fond of his mate and son and he was blessed that he and Bulma shared such a powerful and passionate bond but it was more than that, it had always been more than that! And she knew it even before he did.
Bulma never asked him to outright say those three words because she had accepted that he had felt it. She had felt it from him. From his gentle ways, how she never feared him and from the respect she knew he held for her, deep down, for when she asked him do to something, he would! He showed her every night how much he loved her, in the privacy of each others company.
And she had held back her own words, not wanting to pressure him into feeling he had to say it! Not that the Saiyan Prince would do anything he did not want to, but she wanted him to be able to feel sure enough to say it. By himself!
Vegeta was not going to let go of her now! He was still a selfish bastard and he still wanted her ... Needed her!
And if that meant he had to spend every waking moment as a weak and vulnerable man, then so be it!
Bulma looked up at all the men in her life. She was so blessed and if she had to die, she would die happy just knowing that she had felt such unconditional and powerful love.
Only she would not have liked to die this way and she was not certain if she would have liked her son or nephews to witness it.
"Mom!" Trunks cried as he came to her side. Bulma held out her hand to him.
"Bulma." Goku looked as if Chi Chi had just told him he was on a diet. A funny thought knowing how much Goku loved to eat. If she could just focus on anything else but the pain she felt ...
Then she saw him. The one man she would never forget! Not even in the life after this. His normally tanned skin was as white as a sheet. His face looked tormented as she saw the many shadows of past and future ghosts run through his face. He was scared!
"Vegeta ..."
"Hush woman, this is no time to talk. Keep your stupidity for another time." His voice tried to be harsh but he knew that to her he had failed miserably. And not just to hide his own emotions but to protect her. It was all his fault! "Kakarot why are you just sitting there. Give my woman a bean."
But Goku just stared at Vegeta with sadness etched onto his every feature, as if he were unable to speak.
"We don't have anymore." It was Gohan who whispered the words slowly as tears ran down his face.
"No!" Trunks bellowed the denial as loudly as it was said in Vegeta's head.
"Trunks." Bulma's soft and painfully withering voice called to her son. "Its ok hun, these things happen."
"No! Not to my mum." Trunks shook his head vehemently as he bit his lip so hard to stop himself from crying that he would soon draw blood. But still the tears escaped their prison and fell freely. Bulma reached out and brushed back her sons hair before he through himself at her.
She held him to her chest and smiled through her flinch of pain. While Trunks was buried in her neck, his arm tightly holding her chest Bulma stroked his back before giving her hand to Goku.
She knew he was brave enough to let her go! He took her hand but he too could not stop the single tear that slipped through the corner of his eye.
"I'm so glad I got to see you guys." Bulma smiled at Gohan and Goten.
"Don't leave us now Aunt Bulma." Gotten cried.
Bulma smiled reassuringly at him. "I'll always be with you." She said softly.
She turned to the man she knew would show the least emotion, lastly. He looked out of his depth in this situation. She smiled at him. "Now Vegeta, you take of our son and take it easy on the training too. Sometimes ..." She tried to sound brave but she just couldn't as she saw the pain in his eyes.
He placed his lips against hers and Bulma shut her eyes tightly in pain. Not pain from her wound but from leaving her loved ones.
"Bulma, I ..."
She had never heard Vegeta sound so determined in his life but at that very moment her entire world faded into darkness.
At first Vegeta just stared at her beautiful face, thinking that she had just shut those electric blue eyes for a moment but when Kakorot placed her lifeless hand at her side and Trunks screamed out for his mother Vegeta knew she was gone.
But no! The woman was too stubborn to die. She couldn't! But he couldn't feel her pain anymore. He looked down at his own stomach and through the blue of his combat suit there was a small patch of blood, where Bulma had been stabbed.
Of course his injury with be like a pin prick, only her pain had been the same. But now he couldn't even feel that, he felt nothing from her, not even the love she had felt just a moment ago.
No! She could not have gone before he even had the chance to tell her how he felt. Blasted woman! Why did she always have to make him suffer like this.
"Woman! Woman, get up." Vegeta ordered helplessly as he held her head to his chest breathing in the lavender scent of her, mingled with her blood, one last time. Precious blood that had been spilled. Vegeta felt himself power up in rage, anger and a unknowing source of pain. Pain that was felt from deep within him.
He didn't know how else to handle his raging emotions and his scream of fury, pain and loss echoed throughout the Planet. And still Vegeta continued to power up. Not being able stop, not being able to let go of Bulma, not being able to handle this any other way!
"This is priceless." A cold voice said with maniacal pitches of high and loud laughter through Vegeta's rage.
Everyone but Vegeta turned to look at King Cold. Bloody and bruised but still grinning widely. "My plans may not have worked as I had wished them too, but it is obvious I will have the last laugh." He said amongst more laughter. "I had never thought it possible. Even when I heard you had bonded with her, I truly thought it for lustfull convenience and after all she was the mother of your child. But now, now I see how wrong I was." More laughter. "You monkeys, who claim to be ruthless warriors fell for the charms of a pretty little blue haired weakling." The laughter went on and on and on.
At that moment the cold laughter rang in Vegeta's ears and he looked at the man responsible for his mates death. But even then Vegeta could not control his rage or pain. He should have been dead, not Bulma! Nothing else mattered now that she was gone, all he could feel was a hollow pit of despair inside of him. But just as deeply inside of him there was a power seeping from its bodily confines, fighting to be released.
Like the emotions that Bulma had scratched to the surface, that had erupted today, so had this untapped power.
The other four Saiyans had to shield themselves from Vegeta powering up. Trunks was still in Goku's restraining hands, from stopping the boy from attack Cold for the monstrous words that had escaped the Ice Kings bloody lips.
Vegeta continued to hold on to his mate as his entire upper body stretched out towards the sky and his guttural scream loudened. All the emotions he had long since banished had been brought to the surface by this woman's life and now it was unleashed by her death. He felt the emotions urge only to become massive fields of energy that surrounded him in glowing lights of pale yellow.
And before the awe struck eyes of his advisor, the other four Saiyans and through the fearful gaze of King Cold, Vegeta was transforming into a legend.
Rubbled ground and other objects were forced away by the power of Vegeta's energy. The other four Saiyans using their hands to shield there faces while Gohan held onto Zoron who would have also flown away like a tall piece of rubble.
The entire Planet began vibrating as a large crater appeared around Vegeta and Bulma, pushing the four Saiyans and his advisor on the outskirts of that gigantic crater. King Colds shocked cries of 'no' were lost amongst Vegeta's screams as the Ice King was hurtled backwards from the force of all Vegeta's energy.
His hair turned a deep shade of yellowish blonde and the dark black eyes were turning a fierce turquoise!
Vegeta did not need to look at himself to know he had reached the pinnacle of his race for he could feel the pure amount of endless power that radiated from him.
And yet through it all, he still felt the emptiness from the loss of his mate.
He placed her down slowly, even in death her rosebud mouth was curled in a smile. Feeling the tears that had run down his cheeks when he had transformed, dry into nothingness he placed his hand on the sword that was still in her.
He pulled it out gently before he could stand up.
In a hue of golden energy, this Super Saiyan was ready to avenge the death of his mate!
Authors Note: Hey guys, hope the sequel is living up to expectations. Well, I know some of you must really hate me now for killing our beloved Bulma, but I wouldn't have done it any other way.
I mean how boring a read would it have been if Vegeta just came in and rescued the day.
And I must admit I had intended to kill Bulma from the very beginning. I wanted to show the real depth of or handsome Vegeta's feelings and I needed a reason for his transformation.
But ... I just want to tell you guys, 'please don't loose hope in reading this story.' Just as the next chapter is titled ...
