A Saiyan awoke in the depths of space. He was disoriented and confused for a few moments, but his memory returned and he remembered his mission.
“Computer, how long until we reach planet Vegeta?”
“ETA is thirty minutes, Zeil.”
Silence converged around the ship as it continued to it's destination. Zeil thinks about what lies ahead of him. He is calm, but knows that what he has to do will not be over quickly… at least not his whole mission. His thoughts concern multiple individuals, each of which he must confront sooner or later, but now he is focused on the task that awaits him in a few short minutes.
Frieza… the Saiyan race will be free from your oppressive ways and will never serve the likes of you again. We have been tainted by your presence. My people have always hungered for a challenge, but you made us monsters. I will show you how powerful we are… then you will die. He thinks to himself, silently.
Zeil closes his eyes and clears his mind. He can sense his enemy… and his power. He laughs to himself as he takes in the scene of the supposed, all-powerful Frieza, preparing to destroy planet Vegeta.
----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------
On planet Vegeta, Bardock is trying to warn his people of Frieza's betrayal.
“Bardock, you need to rest!”
“You're all fools!” shouts Bardock, “Frieza is on his way here to kill us all! He's afraid of us challenging him, afraid that we'll become more powerful than him!”
“Bardock, you're not well. You just watched your crew die, you need to calm down. Anyways, You're speaking nonsense. We're too valuable to Frieza for him to kill us.”
“To Frieza, everyone's expendable, but if you're not convinced, then you can all die here. I'll fight him myself.” Bardock yelled out as he staggered out of the room.
----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------
Zeil smiled to himself just as the ship announced that they would reach planet Vegeta in five minutes. He can sense Frieza settling above the planet.
Hmm… I may be more pressed for time than I thought. Zeil thinks as he addresses the ship. “Computer, increase to maximum speed.”
“Yes, Zeil,” the Computer replies, “arrival in three minutes.”
----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------
“FRIEZA!!!” Bardock screamed as he rampaged through the legions of men attempting to stop him. “FRIEZA!!! I'M COMING FOR YOU!!!”
Frieza sets his sight on the monitor at Bardock's progress of reaching the ship. He smiled, “If it's a show the monkey wants, it's a show the monkey gets. Zarbon, prepare my transport.”
“Sire, surely you wouldn't waste your time with the likes of him?” Zarbon asked.
“Are you questioning my orders?”
“Uh, no sir, of course not.”
“Very well… prepare my transport.” Frieza smiles again as Zarbon leaves. Their planet is about to be destroyed and Bardock is the only one fighting… pathetic monkeys.
----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------
“Zeil, we have arrived at our destination, entering atmosphere in ten seconds.”
“Computer, change course to intercept Frieza's ship… come to a complete stop when we arrive and await further direction.”
“Yes, Zeil,” The computer answers mechanically, then waits in silence as he obeys his commanders orders. After a moment, the computer speaks. “We have arrived.”
“Good, open the hatch.”
As the hatch opened, Zeil took a look at his surroundings, Frieza's ship was in front of him, and he could sense another Saiyan fighting very close by. “It's time.”
He leaves the ship and flies slowly until he sees Bardock and Frieza staring each other down. Zeil smirks as Bardock shoots a ki blast straight at Frieza. Frieza merely lifts his finger and creates a massive ball of such raw energy, that it absorbs Bardock's attack. Laughing the entire time, Frieza sends the ball on a direct course for Bardock and the planet.
“Now.” Zeil disappears and then materializes in front of Bardock facing Frieza's attack. With one hand he halts the ball's forward movement and launches it straight back at Frieza. Zeil notices Bardock's silence and turns to see the Saiyan staring at him with a shocked expression on his face. Zeil smirks. “Don't worry, I'll take care of this.” Zeil turns his attention back towards Frieza just in time to see the ball engulf both Frieza and Frieza's ship. The ship and small transport are instantly destroyed in the explosion, but Frieza appears unaffected. He stares at Zeil. “What is your name, Saiyan?” Frieza asks, a deep frown settling on his face.
Zeil smirks as Frieza addresses him. He disappears and then materializes in front of Frieza. “I don't answer questions from dead men.” He replies, grabbing Frieza by the neck. Zeil starts choking Frieza, who in response to the death grip, begins clawing at Zeil's arm.
“I'm sorry that I don't have time to play with you today Frieza, but I have a schedule to keep… and wouldn't you know it, you're cutting into some of my valuable relaxation time.” Zeil said as he snapped Frieza's neck like a twig. “Oh, and just for good measure…” Zeil incinerated Frieza with a ki blast.
Bardock couldn't move or speak. He couldn't believe what just happened. Frieza, killed in a matter of seconds, by a Saiyan. As Zeil turned towards him, Bardock found his voice. “Who are you… and how did you do that?” he managed to stammer.
Zeil smiled. “My name is Zeil and I don't think I need to answer that second question after what you just saw. Now, you should head to the medical bay… it looks like you're pretty torn up.” Zeil turned away from Bardock, but stops and asks, “Unless, of course, you wish to assist me in the elimination of the rest of Frieza's vermin,” as he motions to the Elite forces of the late Frieza.
Bardock grinned and replied, “Nothing… would give me more pleasure.”
----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, in one of hundreds of mess halls on planet Vegeta, many Saiyans were still oblivious to the fact that Frieza was now dead. One of these Saiyans was eating with a childhood friend.
“Qaila, did you hear what happened?” Caerta asked, excitement ringing in her tone.
“What?” Qaila returned, bored as usual.
“Frieza's dead. A Saiyan killed him.”
Qaila's tone instantly changed and she sat straight up, peering into Caerta's face. “Are you serious?” She demanded, the fork that she had been poking her Biluvian Cow meat with, had disintegrated from Ki energy in her momentary surge of excitement. “Who was it?”
“It was a Saiyan. No one's ever seen him before, though… or heard of him. It's just strange that he could show up like that and just obliterate Frieza in a matter of seconds, isn't it?” Caerta was rapidly losing interest in the topic. She had other things on her mind. The most important of which was that her mate would be able to stay for a bit longer than half a day, now that Frieza was gone. She always hated the fact that he ran off on whatever assignment he could get his hands on.
“Caerta!”
“Hmm?” Caerta snapped back to reality and looked at her friend. Qaila was glaring at her and the she looked like she was about to tear the place apart if Caerta didn't answer her. She probably could too.
“Yes, Qaila?” Caerta asked calmly.
“What is the Saiyans name?” She hissed, barely able to stop from hitting her childhood friend upside the head. Caerta had always been easily distracted by any thought or mention of any other topic, besides the ones that Qaila was interested in. This infuriated Qaila to no end and Caerta knew it. That's why she purposely did it… every single day.
“Hs name is Zeil.” Caerta said matter-of-factly, then took a bite off of her Gerotian Kebab. “He showed up seconds before Bardock was about to be killed and killed Frieza like he was squashing a bug. It was all over in less than a minute.”
Qaila's mouth dropped open involuntarily and hung there for a moment. Caerta watched in amusement as Qaila tried to articulate her thoughts into words. After what seemed to be an eternity, to Caerta, Qaila managed to gulp and whisper. “That's amazing.”
Caerta just rolled her eyes and took another bite of her Kebab, then spoke. After a moment, though, she became a little more somber and set her Kebab down. She swallowed her food, then looked at her friend with sad eyes. “The worst part is that right before Zeil showed up… Frieza killed King Vegeta. Then the bastard tried to kill us all, by blowing up the planet.
Qaila shook her head, as if this were all a dream and she was just going to wake up. She closed her eyes and counted, silently, to ten. When she was finished, she opened her eyes and found Caerta staring at the table. She wasn`t in the room, right now… at least not mentally. Qaila watched her in silence, then asked two more questions.
“Are they both still here?”
“Yeah,” Caerta answered mechanically. “Him and Bardock are on their way to the medical bay.”
“Was Zeil injured?”
“No.” Caerta continued, mechanically. “After Zeil took out Frieza, Bardock helped him eliminate what was left of Frieza's Elite Force. Bardock was still pretty messed up after his last assignment and fighting didn`t make it any better.”
Qaila smiled and reached across the table to grab her friends hand. Caerta had never been as strong as her or as any of the other females. She was a brilliant tactician, though. She could manipulate her enemies into making stupid mistakes. It's how she had controlled her mate for so long. Qaila hadn't met a Saiyan yet, that attracted her attention. She attracted enough attention, of course, but none of the males she had met were the right ones for her.
This was one of the factors that led her to wonder why Caerta cared so much for her mate. The Saiyan that left her on whatever assignment was thrown his way. The Saiyan that left her alone, through two pregnancies. He was the embodiment of a typical male Saiyan. She didn't understand… but she still cared for her friend and couldn't stand to see her unhappy or worried.
“It's okay, Caerta. Bardock will be fine.”
----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------
Zeil and Bardock are in a medical bay. Strangely enough, this medical bay is very close to the mess hall where Caerta and Qaila were having their conversation. Bardock is on a table, being prepared for the recuperation tank, while Zeil stands in the doorway.
“That was a damn good show.” Bardock says, managing to stand up and stagger towards the rejuvenator tank. “I'd still like an explanation on who you are, though. And how you became so strong.”
Zeil gives Bardock a friendly smile and says, “A story for another day. For now, just recover your strength.”
Bardock grunts and grips the edge of the tank. “I'll take that advice for now, but only because I'm about to collapse. When I'm out of here, though… you tell me everything.” He gives Zeil a cold stare to emphasize his point.
Zeil manages to hold back a small chuckle. He watches Bardock enter the rejuvenator tank. The hatch closes and Bardock fastens the mouthpiece to his face. Synthetic Saiyan DNA begins to fill the tank and Bardock lets himself drift off the floor as his natural buoyancy keeps him afloat.
Zeil nods at Bardock once more, before turning and leaving the room.
Bardock watches Zeil with barely open eyes. He manages to glimpse two things from Zeil's mind, before he loses conciousness.
You're an impressive fighter. One day, you'll surpass me.
Bardock nearly chokes on that information, but the sedatives being fed through the mouthpiece calm him down. He catches the second thing, moments before darkness takes him.
I hope I don't have to kill him.
Zeil walks down the hall trying to find someone to point out where a communications room is. Finally, a passerby rushes around a corner. Zeil stops him and asks him about the communications room. They point it out and he makes his way there.
Upon entering the room, Zeil gets the attention of the technician and asks if a message has been sent to Prince Vegeta.
“Y-yes, sir.” The technician answers nervously. “When the council learned of Frieza's death, they sent a message to all Saiyans who were out in the field.”
“Did you inform them all of the situation?”
“No, sir.” He answered quickly. “Only Prince Vegeta was informed of Frieza's death. I can play the recording if you wish.”
“Yes, that will be fine.” Zeil replied. The technician turned towards the console in front of him and pressed a series of buttons. The message began to play. When it ended, Zeil thanked the technician and left the room.
----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------
RECORDING…
“Prince Vegeta, can you hear me?”
“Yes.”
“We have a message for you.”
“Get on with it.”
“Frieza is dead, you have been summoned back to the planet Vegeta. Certain matters require your
presence.”
Two seconds of silence. “Frieza is dead?”
“Yes, Prince.”
“Who killed him?”
“A Saiyan called Zeil.”
“Very well. I will return immediately.”
To be continued…
I'm hoping for some feedback/reviews. So if anyone has any comments, feel free. For anyone who didn't read the description. This is an updated version of the original. I'm having problems uploading new chapters, so I'm just trying to improve on the old ones.
