Chapter 1
The door swung open with a bang as I trudged into my dorm room wet and grouchy. My roommate paid no attention as I tossed my backpack on the bed and stripped off my wet sweatshirt and shoes.
Out of nowhere my roommate speaks nonchalantly, “Your alarm woke me up again this morning.”
I growled under my breath, we've had this discussion at least a thousand times and never have I had enough cannon fader to shoot back. It's not my fault that I have a class at eight o clock in the morning or that she stays up till 2 in the morning listening to music! I wanted to say that too her face, but she just picked up her bag and before leaving the room said, “See you later.” She said jovially closing the door behind her.
I growled louder and grumbled, “Good riddance.” I flopped down on the flat board that passed as a bed and groaned rubbing my eyes. “This just isn't my day!” I moaned.
I stared out the window at the rain pouring down. I had woken up ungodly early, but fallen asleep after breakfast and I had to book it to get to class all the way across campus on time. Then disgusting lunch, homework up the ass, the unexpected rain, and my roommate were not sitting well with me. In the immortal words of Garfield, “I hate Mondays.”
My eyes rested on my laptop and I grudgingly sat up and slid into my chair. I decided to wind down from the day by wrapping my mind in the safe cocoon of fanfiction. I turned on my beloved laptop, Silver. I was always a sucker for westerns and the whole, “Hi ho Silver away!” stuck.
Just as I had logged in to Mediaminer and clicked on my fan fics the people in the room next door decided now was the time to blow their speakers with a bass so loud it made my head throb. I growled and reached up to my borrowed stereo, it was kind of crappy on loan from my little sister while I was at school and she got to use my big bad ass baby at home. Anyway I turned it on and finally found a station I wanted. I leaned up to the volume button, but I didn't notice that when I leaned up I brushed a couple of keys on the lap top. Once I was satisfied with my radio situation I sat back down only to see my screen had froze very abnormal for my usually well behaved computer. Before I could touch anything to fix it the screen started to spasm and green words and symbols flashed across the screen incoherently. I panicked I had only ever had one problem with my laptop and that problem had been big and had kept me without a computer for the first two weeks of school. I didn't want a repeat of that tragedy so close to finals. I wasn't much on computers so I did the only thing I could think of I hit Control Alt Delete. Nothing happened it continued its freak out so I tried hitting escape, still nothing. The off switch didn't work either. I was hitting buttons randomly trying to make it stop. Then I hit the enter key and it all stopped and a screen save popped up. It was one of Shenron I had seen recently in my wandering of DBZ sights. My first thought was `cool', my second was, `What the Fuck?'
Then it moved and spoke. “Your wish has been granted.” Then the screen flashed white. I hid my eyes from the bright light. “What the hell?”
When I opened my eyes again I was not at my desk in my dorm room I was in the middle of a field somewhere. I looked down to see there was no chair under me. `Am I sitting on thin air?' Sure enough at that second I fell face first into the dirt. I grunted and sat up looking around in confusion. Every cell in my brain screamed, `WTF!' It was then I noticed my backpack was on the ground next to me, key chains and all. I pulled it to me and unzipped it figuring to find my school books, because that would be just my luck.
But I was astounded to see my laptop and several other personal items in it. There with the lap top in the first big pocket were my numerous thought/ idea journals and work binders, even my sketch pads. The second large pocket had my most cherished books and CDs, a photo album, my gi with my belt, and one of my childhood stuffed animals that I didn't go anywhere without. The small pocket contained my hair brush and a small container of our family's home made maple syrup. Its presence confused me although I did take a small bottle with me everywhere. It had been a major operation in my family for a hundred years and I had never eaten the store bought stuff and I refused to start. “Well that's odd?”
I looked around still very confused and then noticed I was not wearing the same outfit I had been ten seconds ago. I was wearing my camo pants, but they were in far better condition than before and my black Villari's shirt from my first tournament. *I'm a brown belt people.* I had on my anime wrist band and my class ring on. I reached up when I discovered I was wearing my communing with the supernatural necklace. It was a sliver claw wrapped around a small red orb.
If I was confused before I was down right baffled, I had no idea, where I was or how I got there.
“Hello!” I shouted to the wind, but nothing answered me. I stood there in thought for a moment when my eyes caught a glimpse of something moving just out of the corner of my eye. I turned my head and saw it was a brown tail and I spun around to see the owner only to find the tail moved with me. “Holy…”
I reached out and grasped the tail a little too hard. “Ow! Ow! Ow!” I let it go. “I think that proves its mine.” With my will it waves back and forth and I stare in disbelief.
“Wait….”
“If I have a tail then maybe I'm a….”
I closed my eyes and took a few calming even breaths and focused my energy below me. I didn't feel a thing, but I opened my eyes and looked down, I was above the ground that was for sure. I felt a grin spread across my face and I pushed my energy down hard shooting higher.
“Yeah! This is great!” I said as I began to get the hang of it and was flying all around. I was doing back flips for the first time in my life. I was on cloud nine flying was one of the top ten things I had always wanted to do and there I was tripping the light fantastic through the air like a bird. A thought hit me and I stopped in mid air and looked around again.
`Ok' I thought crossing my legs and scratching my chin. `So I can fly and I have a tail. A saiyan tail. That probably means I am a saiyan. That doesn't answer the question as to where I am.'
I knocked on my skull. “I must be dreaming. But last I checked I wasn't narcoleptic.”
“Well dream or not if I am a saiyan than I must be in the DBZ dimension.” I thought out loud I often think the best when I talk to myself. I stared down at the ground still befuddled before I focused on my backpack. I snapped my fingers and flew down to the bag pulling out my laptop.
I turned it on hoping it would hide the secret as to where I was. After all it brought me to this crazy place. It immediately pulled up my fanfic page on mediaminer. “Ok Fanfiction. More specifically my fanfiction.” I scrolled down the page looking at my fanfics. At least a dozen some good not all. I recalled this was the last page I had seen before all the weirdness. “I could be in the DBZ world.” I looked at the titles of all the fics and recalled the contents of each. The settings all ran through my head. Some were Alternate Universes and some took place in the DBZ world itself so that left me with little clue as to where I was, not to mention what time period. While I was pondering my where abouts a new word document appeared on the screen with writing on it.
It said, `Fate is good and Destiny is grand, but your life is chosen by your own hand. Choose wisely at the turn for there is no reverse. Be careful that your choices do not make you the curse.'
The rhyme confused me and then another bit of text appeared it looked like a multiple choice question. `In this new dimension, different from your own, what is it? A. Regular
B. Crossover C. Original D. Alternate Universe.'
I somehow knew deep in my bones that the choice was extremely important. I knew I was in the DBZ dimension, but would I really choose to be in the original timeline. That could mess things up greatly. A crossover was out of the question, and I figured an original would only make things weirder so I chose AU. As soon as I chose D the world around me seemed to swirl and morph, but just as quickly as the change began it ended and I looked to be in the same place.
My confusion was even greater. `That's it I finally fell out of my chair and konked my head on the floor and having concussion induced hallucination. Which I am about to wake up from.' I thought to myself. After several seconds of staring and waiting nothing happened. I huffed and blew at my hair. “Well then since this dream isn't ending why don't I go check out this place then?” I turned off my laptop and shoved it back in my bag. Then I grabbed it and flew off into the air.
As I flew this whole world still seemed like a dream, little did I know that when I had blasted off someone had noticed me, as a matter of fact several someones.
