Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Silver ❯ Romeo ( Chapter 8 )
Vex laid on the spot, which she had landed on, for the past half-hour. When she had jumped out of the lab's entrance she had expected to hit some treetops, but instead she had smacked into the side of the mountain and started to roll her way down to sweet Mother Earth. Let her just say, it wasn't a smooth ride.
"Ugh, it feels as if I've broken everything!!! Well, I got to get up sometime and it my as well be now." With a grunt, Vex rolled herself onto her stomach and started to push herself up. In five minutes she managed to get to her hands and knees, but that was about it.
"Man, this is harder than I thought!" By the time Vex was able to get herself up and walking, the day had turned to noon. Vex sighed as she squeaked through the forest.
"What am I gunna do now? I can't just go out like I use to! I look like the murderer who is all over television! They'll just run away from me!" She walked, more like limped, over to a pool of water that sparkled like diamonds in the sun.
"Might as well get a drink. I'm rather thirty anyways." She crouched down and cupped her hands in the cool water. As she was drinking, something started to happened. It was like a throbbing inside of her head, though she didn't feel any pain, but it made her look in its direction.
"Whoa, what's goin' on?" Vex shook her hands of any loose water before straightening again. Having nothing else to do, Vex ran in the direction that made the throbbing stronger.

Cell stood in the middle of the deserted streets. He had to smirk. Two thousand humans down and many more to find. He had just absorbed the last human and was about to leave to another helpless town when he felt a tremendous power, but he didn't recognize its signature.
"Hmmm…" He watched down the street as a tall figure walked in his direction. The sun made the image wavy and blackish, but he knew it wasn't an illusion.
It was someone with a strong power source. Power that he could obtain and use to his advantage. He waited until it was close enough. Just as Cell was about to tackle the intruder, he stopped and gasped.

Vex stood frozen. Her curiosity had, once again, led her to another death trap. She silently cursed when she saw the male look-a-like crouching low on the pavement road. Cell looked just as stunned as she did. He growled, narrowing his eyes.
"Who are you and why do you like me?!!" Instinctively, Vex backed up.
"Remember that woman you dropped in the forest??? I'm that woman!!" Cell suddenly appeared in front of her, face to face. Apparently, to Vex's dismay, Cell was still larger than she was and quite built. He was at least two feet taller than herself.
"Impossible," he whispered to her, clearly not buying it, "She was human and you're not! Besides that human wouldn't have survived the fall!!" Vex, just daring herself, pressed a finger against his chest. He immediately looked at it, surprised that she would even think to touch him.
"Ah, but I would have died if it weren't for Dr. Gero." Cell's gaze shot back to her.
"How do you that name?" He was literally standing on her now. He was towering over her with all his pride and arrogance that it made her growl. She pushed him away, making him stumble back a few feet.
"He told me it, duh! Right when I was about to die he came in and took me to his lab. I woke up in a tank filled with water. Apparently he had placed some of YOUR cells into my body. I turned into this a while later. He told me a little about you when I stayed. Like how you want to absorb these two androids so you can become perfect and all. So, how does it feel to not be the only one of your species?"
She placed her hands on her hips, smirking. Cell stood there dumbfounded at first, but got over his composer quickly before returning the smirk.
"Let us just say that I'm a little surprised, but I'll get over it. Now, would you mind telling me your name?"
"My nick name is Vex. No one would call me by my name real name." Vex paused just before cursing. She should have stopped right when she said Vex! Cell looked on in amusement.
"Why not?"
"Because I'd hurt them if they did, that's why!" Cell was becoming interested. He advanced Vex once again.
"What might your real name be?" Vex backed up, waving her hands in front of her.
"Oooooh no! I'm not gunna fight you!" She started walking away, but Cell got in front of her.
"Oh, but I insist. I won't say it, I'm just…curious to what it is." Vex backed up. She didn't want to get on the guy's bad side, but she didn't want to have to put up with him calling her Mandy all day either. She had to choose.
"It's…Mandy, but don't you DARE call me it!!" Cell repeated the name over a few times in his head.
`That's a lovely name, hmmm….' He thought silently.
"Mandy, that's a nice name. Why not be called--"
"Because it brings back bad memories that's why!!" She shouted angrily, her temper flaring to her defense. She had been asked that question multiple times and it was starting to get on her nerves. Cell had to admire Vex. She was very brave, maybe a little too brave, but brave none the less.
"Well Mandy," Cell started. Vex clenched her fists, "I'd like to chat more, but I must be going." He crouched low and was about to jump and take off, when Vex grabbed onto his tail and pulled him back sharply, making him crash into her.
Vex opened an eye and saw Cell glaring daggers at her. She cringed slightly until he got off of her. She got up and dusted herself off.
"Why did you do that?!" Cell roared, clearly not enjoying Vex's company anymore.
"Because I want to come with you!!" The words just rolled off her tongue before Vex could stop them. They both stood stunned her the words. Cell narrowed eyes.
"Why?" He asked in a low, suspicious tone. Vex looked at her hands. How was she going to convince him? A murderer who finds his pleasure in chasing his victims around while they screamed their heads off? It was worth the shot.
"Because, just like you, I've found the urge to want to be perfect. I dunno how to do it though! You've had experience, THAT I know, and I thought you could at least help me! Please?!! If you decline now, I swear you'll wish you had NEVER met me!!" Cell stayed quiet, blinking at the female version of himself.
He smiled slyly and said, "What would you do if I did refuse?"
"I'd do this!" Vex leaped at him, catching him off guard and, to both their surprises, tackled him to the ground. Cell grunted, but rolled over, placing Vex under him. He smirked smugly.
Vex gripped his shoulders and rolled over again, pinning him beneath her. Cell wasn't going let her win so he repeated the roll another time, only to be placed under her soon again. This kept up until even Cell was out of breath. To his dismay though, Vex was the last one on top. She returned that smug smirk.
She pushed off of him and stood, waiting for him to say it. Cell got up and dusted the dirt from his body. He looked over at her, a frown placed upon his insect-like features.
"Well? I won! So you have to agree with me!" Cell chuckled, crossing his arms.
"Not quite my dear. I just asked what you'd do if I refused to help you, not agree to help if I lost to some rolling game." Vex ground her teeth (fangs) together as he laughed. He tricked her! She couldn't believe how stupid she was!
"That's not fair Cell!" He stopped laughing, but kept the amused grin on his lips.
"Ah, but dear Mandy--"
"VEX!"
"-all is fair in love and war. I've always admired that quote. It suits the world quite well." Vex stomped, more liked squeaked, up to Cell.
"I don't care about some quote! I demand that you teach how to absorb people and I demand it now!!" Cell lifted a finger, indicating he was going to say something back, when he looked up at the sky. Vex felt that familiar throbbing again. She looked up and saw three people float to the ground.
One man was tall and green with a white turban and a cape, another was a teenage boy with lavender hair and a sword, and the other man was short and bald without a nose. Vex knew that the three men were not there for a tea party. She could tell by the hard expression on each of their faces.
Vex, not keeping her eyes off the men, whispered to Cell, "Know these three?" Cell didn't take his eyes off them either.
"A few `friends' of mine." He put emphasis in the word `friends' making Vex believe that there weren't actually his friends. The small man was the first to notice her. Vex was shocked when she actually heard him whisper to the boy next to him.
"Hey, who's the Cell-look-alike? It looks like a girl!" The boy shrugged. The green one narrowed his eyes when he looked at her. All she could do back was return the glare. Suddenly Cell gripped one of her arms and pulled her close to him. She looked up at him.
"Alright, I'll agree to help you if you promise not to get in my way at ANY time!" Vex nodded vigorously
"Why the sudden changed of heart Romeo?" Cell smirked, not taking his eyes off the three warriors as he backed away slowly with her glued to his side.
"It would just KILL me if they tortured you for looking like me," he said sarcastically, "and if Dr. Gero really is still alive, then I don't want them finding out. It's best they think you were created the way I was."
"What way is that, may I ask?" Vex asked, watching the green man step forward. Cell backed away some more.
"From a single living cell." He stated flatly. Vex would have face faulted if it weren't for him holding her up.
"Cell, don't think you're going to get way this time!" The green man shouted. With that he charged forward. Vex's eyes widened and she suddenly fell to the ground. She looked up to see Cell and the green man throwing a furry of punches a kicks at each other.
"Vex saw the other two guys run over to her, but stopped abruptly when the turned to look at them. The bald one looked at her with a nervous grin and asked, "Um….hi….are you…uh…like…Cell's sister or…uh something?" Vex stood up, clearly out sizing him.
"Keep dreamin' little man."
"Then…um…who are you?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" She said, taking interest in examining her arms. The teenager with the sword pushed past the short man and said in an almost demanding tone, "Yes, we would like to know! Who are you and why do you look like Cell?" Vex glared at him.
"Listen here bub," she shoved him back with a finger, "I don't have to tell you anything and I won't tell you anything if you're going to have that kind of attitude!!" Vex turned to look at Cell and the green guy. They had separated and Vex watched as Cell jumped into the air.
"Oh no, not again! Shield your eyes!!" The small one shouted. Vex didn't know what was going on so she kept watching at the green one jumped after Cell.
The man almost got to him when Cell spread his fingers on his forehead and shouted, "SOLAR FLARE!!!" She gasped aloud when the blinding light engulfed the whole town. Vex screamed, "CELL!! YOU BASTARD!! I'M GOING--," but she was cut off when a strong arm wrapped around her waist.
Cell pulled his female counterpart against him and shot off into the sky, once again having Vex curse and scream for him to put her down.
