Chapter 2 Return Home
Bulma stared out the window, her back facing the kids. Her body shook, her tears fell down flushed cheeks, yet her pain never showed. Bulma learned how to hide her emotions well, but this was just too much for her. She heard the words of Goten, “We can wish him back, Bulma. Don’t you understand? Arcadia, Trunks, he can live again. And you can get your son back. The dragon balls can make this happen-”
“That’s enough.” Bulma forced through clenched teeth. She turned to them, allowing them to see her tears. “How can you be doing this to me?” Their confused gaze annoyed her. “Trunks is dead. My son is dead! This is the cruelest nonsense I’ve ever had to deal with. I can’t believe you, Goten. Are you enjoying my pain right now?--”
“Bulma please listen--”
“No, you listen. I waited years to find my son. I searched endlessly for eighteen years, believing that there was a chance that he was still alive. But I made myself believe he was dead, just so I could get a few moments to think about other things in my life.. And then I found him,” her lip trembled, and tears festered on her lashes. “And he died in my arms.” She closed her eyes. “My beautiful boy. Died.” She tightened her resolve glaring at him and her daughter. “And I have to move on. And I’m finally doing it. I’m finally able to sleep at night without conjuring up a map to find my son.” Bulma’s body stiffened and she was able to look at the two without tears, only anger. “Now you force a hope in me that can never happen. When will it be enough? When will I finally be able to have some source of peace in my heart? I have to face the fact that I cannot bring him back. For the years I missed out, not knowing how he was living, or if he was hurt, in trouble, afraid, needing me, now I finally know exactly where he is. I know he is being taken care of. I know that he is happy. And from that, only that, am I able to go on everyday.. Do not tell me lies that will destroy all the strength I have gathered. He is dead. He is not coming back. And though I hate not knowing my own son, at least he isn’t suffering.”
“Bulma, Arcadia has been my brother for the eighteen years you searched for. I know him inside and out. I felt his pain. I felt his happiness. I witnessed every laugh, every smile, and every tear. And now that he is gone, I’m missing the entire half of my heart. My mother can’t even get up in the morning. His life should not have been taken away from him. He deserves to live. He needs to live.”
“You search for hope in false territory. You make believe that there is some tool to bring him back from the dead. He’s not coming back Goten. The sooner you deal with that, the sooner he can rest in peace.”
“I’m not giving up like you--”
“Don’t you dare! I searched for eighteen years! Don’t you dare tell me anything about giving up! He is my son! Not your brother! Not your anything! He is mine! I waited for him. I still wait for him.” She stalled for only a moment. “But instead, he waits for me. So do not think you have ANY right to tell me the meaning of giving up.” Bulma left the room without another word.
Goten sat back on the couch, staring at the ceiling. Then the tiny force of his girlfriend chimed. “She’s right.” Goten snapped his attention to her. Bra tightened her back. “Trunks needs to be left in peace.”
“Oh, don’t even. You believe me, right? About the dragon balls?”
She shined her blue eyes to meet his. “We have to be reasonable about this Goten. The dragon balls aren’t real.”
“You don’t believe me. But you just told me how great it was.”
“I was stupid to think something like that was possible. Mom’s right. Nothing can bring people back from the dead. I wanted it to be true, Goten. I want Trunks back just as much as every body else.”
“Bullshit.” Goten stood caring nothing for her startled gasp. He clenched his fist tightly, grinding his teeth in his anger. “You never wanted Trunks to be alive in the first place. You are just fine now that all the attention is on you.” Goten slowed in his pacing before stopping completely. “I didn’t mean it like--”
“Of course you did. You think I’m a spoiled rotten bitch. But I still have a heart. How stupid I was to give it to you, Kali.” Bra was ready to dash out of his sight but only took two steps before she realized what she had just done. Her fists clenched nervously. But she was afraid to turn around. Afraid of the expression that much be drenched upon his face. “Goten…”
But her lover shot off into the air faster then she could stop him. Her eyes closed, pushing a tear to fall down her cheek.

The gold glow sounded his form tightly, expression every curve and angle of his powerful king form. Sweat poured down his brow but he was mindless of it, watching the fireworks in space. Flames engulfed soldiers, planes, cannons, guns; All the sights of War. It was hard to believe how short this battle was, and how quickly Vegeta’s fleet failed.
These creatures came from the depth of the universe, led by a mysterious leader. Vegeta still didn’t know who they were, why they were here, and who led them. No information leaked from any and every source. Planets that were protected by the Sayian Hegemony Unit light years from Vegeta’s Court, had been destroyed a moon ago, and they just now were able to warn their King of this unexpected threat.
The war of the outside lit the hallways as Vegeta made it to the bridge, finding Bardock shouting orders that sent troops dashing past without any salute. The technical genius caught sight of his king. Shaking his head disappointingly. “I don’t know. I don’t know who it is. Every planet it is all the same. Two ships, opposite sides of a planet, release a light and burn all to ashes. No one meeting who their killer is. No one knows their point. These creatures that fight us now are only trying to get through. They are running. Because they know Its coming.”
“Then we will stop them when they get here.” Vegeta turned on his heal, his cape flapping out behind him.
“They’re heading towards the queen.” Vegeta made no acknowledgement that he heard the comment, fleeting with his controlled emotions.
~~~~~~~~~```````
Bra tucked a stray strand behind her ear as she came up quietly behind Goten who sat at the edge of a cliff that fell against an ocean. She sat down beside him, holding her knees to her chest closing her eyes at the breeze. Earth was so beautiful. There were no such places on Vegeta-sei. No oceans with the calm hypnotic sounds of the waves crashing against the rock. It was her favorite place. And that’s why Goten was here.
Staring at the water, she confessed her sorrow. “Goten. Today four years ago was the first time Kali kissed me. Natally, Kali, and I were having a sparring match. Who ever touched the ground first lost. Natally and I against Kali. Natally got him good in the stomach that sent him fast to the ground. I latched on to him to force him to stay as he was. But at the last second, Kali switched roles and he was the one on top while I was an inch away from the ground. He was laughing. Vela, his laugh.” Goten glanced at her as she silently wiped away a tear.
“I wouldn’t let my strength go. He didn’t want to force me to the ground because that would have caused pain. So he kissed me. It threw me out of reality where I totally forgot what I was doing, and I landed gently on the ground. Kali and Natally were laughing their asses off while I was made the loser. It feels as if it wasn’t so long ago.” Bra looked over to him, cheeks flexing as he tried to keep him hurt from surfacing. “I loved him, Goten.” He stood and was ready to take off. “I loved him then. I love you now.” She got to her feet wrapping her arms around his waist. And he did nothing to stop her. “I think of him all the time. And it hurts me. But then I hear your voice. Your playful, funny, happy voice, it just makes me smile. When I’m with you, I don’t think of him. And if I do, I don’t care for him. I see you and I see everything I want. I see my second half. I can be human with you. And that was something I could never have with Kali.” Bra turned him around; he was staring down at her with his calm features.
“I’m sorry Goten. But please don’t think I said his name thinking it was him that was standing in front of me. Kali and you are too different for me to look at you and give you his name. I love you, Goten. I love you as much as I possibly can.”
“You know, in the beginning it was easy for me to except the fact that I will always be second in your eyes. But the more I fall in love with you, the more I fight for first.”
Her hold refracted looking up at him, “Kali has my Sayian heart. You have my human heart. You are both equal with my love.”
Goten stepped away, turning his head to the sea. “I don’t want to be equal!” He laughed ironically. “I want me to be first just like you are for me.” Goten turned to her, flashing her a small weak smile. “I just love you so much.”
She touched his cheek resting her forehead on his breast. “I love you too. You have nothing to fear, my love. I’m not leaving you. Kali’s not coming back.”
His large hand encompassed her chin to regain contact with her sky eyes. “You’re right.” He chuckled, “You’re always right.”
“Bet your ass I am.” They kissed passionately until an awkward tiny cough only Sayian ear could have heard, interrupted them. They smiled at each other glancing to their sides to find a forty-foot perimeter of the Sayian army, protectively encircled them. Bra giggled hugging him close. “They are starting not to bother me as much.”
“I don’t understand why they think you need protection when I’m here.”
“I’m the daughter of the most powerful man in the universe. Plus I’m beautiful. I’m always in danger.”
“I’m stronger then all of them put together.” She smiled and he kissed her. Goten stared at her with a big bright smile that instantly told Bra something has happened. Her smile faded, waiting, dreading what he has done. “Would you like to go back to Vegeta-sei?”
“When?”
“Right Now.”
“Right now? Goten why?”
“Would you like to go back there with me?”
“Of course. But for what reason?”
He smiled broaden and he took a hold of her arms. “I found all the Dragon Balls.”
“Dragon Balls, Goten not this again.”
“No, Bra, I found them. And I made my wish. And Arcadia is alive.”
“This really isn’t funny.”
“It’s not supposed to be. I wished him back. He is on Vegeta-sei.”
“You can’t wish people back from the dead Goten. It doesn’t work like that. No matter how bad you want it to.”
He smiled with his wide grin touched her face with his palm, brushing his lips against hers. “Bra, it’s fine that you don’t believe me, just come with me to Vegeta-sei. If not to find your brother then to see your home again.”
“I don’t understand why you are doing this to yourself Goten.” Bra shook her head, eyes staring aggravatingly into his childish gaze. The reflection in those black eyes of his led her right into his trap and she sighed, “If you think he is alive, I guess I can do nothing but sit back and watch when you are sadly disappointed. But you must promise one thing,” She waited for his head nod, “You mustn’t say anything to anyone.”
“So you’ll come with me?”
“I’ll come with you.”
~~~~~~~~~~`````
“So how is everything on Vegeta-sei, Maddox?”
“Bulma, I haven’t heard from you in weeks, I was getting worried.”
“I’m sorry. Just so many meetings and business proceedings it’s so hard to get a minute to myself.”
“Bulma, something bad has happened.”
Bulma dropped her screwdriver finally and removed the sweat from her brow while transferring the conversation to a wide screen finally seeing her best friend. Anxiety built inside her heart upon meeting eyes so blood shot from tears and tiredness. “What’s wrong?”
“Radditz left us. Kagan and I were at competition and Radditz never showed up. I came back and on the table was a note. He left me, Bulma. Without even a word to me. He left me. He left his son.”

“Maddox, he is your mate. He will come back to you. What has Vegeta said?”
“Vegeta has no idea where he is. Besides he has enough on his mind with the war.”
“WAR? What war are you talking about?”
“Vegeta hasn’t told you?”
“Obviously not.”
“Then I better not say anything.”
“You better tell me now!”
“I can’t. Goodbye.”
Bulma stared at the screen in her disbelief before she threw the computer against the wall, caring nil for the small fire that was created as she ran out into the middle of her humble business corporation and stared out into the forest as she screamed. “Will the general please get your ass out here, on the order of your fucking Queen!”
The trees rumbled and twisted, groaning and breaking before a Sayian was pushed violently from the hideout. He grumbled, using every known curse word in the universe, making his bravado way toward the most powerful human he has ever met. “Yes, my lady.”
“Drone, you better not lie to me, are we in understanding?”
“Yes, Lady.”
“Is there a war happening in outer space?”
“Not really--”
“Drone!”
“Yes!” He squeaked. “There is a war in space.”
“Who?”
“I don’t--”
“Drone!”
“I don’t know! No one knows who it is. He is too powerful for any one to get away. Once known they were killed before any information leaked.”
Bulma cursed to herself, pacing with her arms crossed, “Kami- damn it! That little creep has been keeping this from me.” She stopped short and shot her blue eyes to the soldier. “How many dead?”
“Sixteen planets. In this galaxy.”
“Sixteen! He is trying to destroy the whole universe?!”
“Yes, my lady. Who ever it is, wants everyone dead.”
“Fucking bitch! Get Goku over here. Tell him we’re going back to Vegeta-sei
~~~~~~~~~~~``````````````
Vegeta-sei…
His eyes shot open, finding the reddish sky and flying creatures. A weight pounded on his chest forcing breath to be past through lungs he once again had. He was in a body. He felt every muscle, every wave of blood, every heartbeat, and every bone. He felt heat, the ground, the air, he could even taste again.
But how could this have happened? He was in a place so perfect that he couldn’t even remember. With every blink the memories of the heavens were leaving him. Out of desperation he commanded himself to stay lifeless, hoping that he would travel back to the peaceful breeze.
Sound returned. Voices, screams, shouts, engines roaring, people walking. How crazy it was. Powers taunted his attention. He was losing focus on the happiness he had once experience. And now it was a distant thought.
His body moved. So awkward it was to have a body again. He sat up, staring at his dirty hands, blue eyes gazing across the wide landscape. No one took notice of him but then again he took no notice of them. He was trying to remember but all that came back to him was a woman. A woman of such importance. And an accident.
Blood. He looked down at his shirt; it was soaked with the red liquid that was his life. He had died. Hadn’t he? He had remembered what it felt like when his heart stopped beating and air could no longer pass through his lungs no matter how desperate he had tried. He had seen her eyes, filled with grief gazing over him, fearing for him.
He had been dead. The thought alone caused panic and he ripped apart his shirt to gaze down however finding no hole on his heart. It couldn’t have been a dream. The emotions were too real. There were too many things connected. He had died. He didn’t want to live. He wanted to go back home. But then he realized, he didn’t remember where that heaven place was.
He stood in unknown fright, legs shaking in their distress. How had he gotten here? Could this be hell? He couldn’t be alive. Was he a ghost?
“Hey, you!” A guard yelled, Trunks put his hands over his ears. Everything was so loud. He didn’t know this place. He didn’t know anyone. What if these were the people that killed him? “Hey!” Trunks ran, not knowing what else to do, scared out of him mind he easily lost the man that was coming toward him.
Vegeta stared at his busted eyepiece, glaring at everyone in the War communications base. Each of their equipment broken also. It was a power surge but the only person who was strong enough to short out their scouters was him.
“King Vegeta.” His black eyes darted over to Bardock. “I think you should look at this.” Annoyingly the king came to the screen, a camera was zooming in. In the middle of the field they saw an unknown creature. Vegeta ordered a guard out to see what it was. “This was where the power surge was before it broke our equipment. I might be able to get a different angel. The security tape just shot on. It didn’t sense anything until the creature was already there. It’s odd.” The guard came on screen and within a few second the alien was gone, speed that was impossible by several types of creatures. “Hold on.” Bardock rewind the tape, using the computers to get better vision. “There.” He paused his finger pressed against the glass. The symbol of a royal was marked on his shirt.
“It can’t be.” Vegeta whispered zoning in on the picture. “How…”
“King Vegeta. Your mate calls for you.” Vegeta’s eyes went to a main screen where her frown and red cheeks full of anger greeted him. He left the machine unwillingly, glancing back only for a moment before hearing the raging voice.
“So you were just going to fucking leave me out of the war? After everything, you weren’t going to tell me.”
“Eventually.”
“Bullshit. We’re coming, Vegeta. We are coming back.”
Bulma stared out the window, her back facing the kids. Her body shook, her tears fell down flushed cheeks, yet her pain never showed. “Fucking bitch! Get Goku over here. Tell him we’re going back to Vegeta-sei
Vegeta-sei…
His eyes shot open, finding the reddish sky and flying creatures. A weight pounded on his chest forcing breath to be past through lungs he once again had. He was in a body. He felt every muscle, every wave of blood, every heartbeat, and every bone. He felt heat, the ground, the air, he could even taste again.
But how could this have happened? He was in a place so perfect that he couldn’t even remember. With every blink the memories of the heavens were leaving him. Out of desperation he commanded himself to stay lifeless, hoping that he would travel back to the peaceful breeze.
Sound returned. Voices, screams, shouts, engines roaring, people walking. How crazy it was. Powers taunted his attention. He was losing focus on the happiness he had once experience. And now it was a distant thought.
His body moved. So awkward it was to have a body again. He sat up, staring at his dirty hands, blue eyes gazing across the wide landscape. No one took notice of him but then again he took no notice of them. He was trying to remember but all that came back to him was a woman. A woman of such importance. And an accident.
Blood. He looked down at his shirt; it was soaked with the red liquid that was his life. He had died. Hadn’t he? He had remembered what it felt like when his heart stopped beating and air could no longer pass through his lungs no matter how desperate he had tried. He had seen her eyes, filled with grief gazing over him, fearing for him.
He had been dead. The thought alone caused panic and he ripped apart his shirt to gaze down however finding no hole on his heart. It couldn’t have been a dream. The emotions were too real. There were too many things connected. He had died. He didn’t want to live. He wanted to go back home. But then he realized, he didn’t remember where that heaven place was.
He stood in unknown fright, legs shaking in their distress. How had he gotten here? Could this be hell? He couldn’t be alive. Was he a ghost?
“Hey, you!” A guard yelled, Trunks put his hands over his ears. Everything was so loud. He didn’t know this place. He didn’t know anyone. What if these were the people that killed him? “Hey!” Trunks ran, not knowing what else to do, scared out of him mind he easily lost the man that was coming toward him.
Vegeta stared at his busted eyepiece, glaring at everyone in the War communications base. Each of their equipment broken also. It was a power surge but the only person who was strong enough to short out their scouters was him.
“King Vegeta.” His black eyes darted over to Bardock. “I think you should look at this.” Annoyingly the king came to the screen, a camera was zooming in. In the middle of the field they saw an unknown creature. Vegeta ordered a guard out to see what it was. “This was where the power surge was before it broke our equipment. I might be able to get a different angel. The security tape just shot on. It didn’t sense anything until the creature was already there. It’s odd.” The guard came on screen and within a few second the alien was gone, speed that was impossible by several types of creatures. “Hold on.” Bardock rewind the tape, using the computers to get better vision. “There.” He paused his finger pressed against the glass. The symbol of a royal was marked on his shirt.
“It can’t be.” Vegeta whispered zoning in on the picture. “How…”
“King Vegeta. Your mate calls for you.” Vegeta’s eyes went to a main screen where her frown and red cheeks full of anger greeted him. He left the machine unwillingly, glancing back only for a moment before hearing the raging voice.
“So you were just going to fucking leave me out of the war? After everything, you weren’t going to tell me.”
“Eventually.”
“Bullshit. We’re coming, Vegeta. We are coming back.”
