:WELL....So he loves her. Now THAT’S a surprise! Why? Sorry, but you have to wait until The Birth Of A Legend to find that out!
Chapter 6: Death In the Family
Another month passed for the Z-warriors, and Kitty and Piccolo grew a bit more comfortable around each other, often sharing a glass of cranberry wine in the library, late at night. Eventually, though, Raditz grew impatient. “I don’t care what she says. He dies TODAY.” That day he snuck out to where Piccolo and Goku were sparring.
??
Goku lay dying on the ground when Kitty arrived with lunch. Beside him was Raditz, all but dead. Piccolo stood a yard away, lacking an arm. As Kitty raced up, SPLOIT! A new one had grown into place. “Goku!” she cried over him, trying to avoid letting her tears reach the gaping hole in his stomach. “Why’d you have to fight him?”
“He attacked us.” Piccolo grunted, wiping the slime off his new arm with a towel Krillin had brought over. “So, we killed him.” Bulma, Krillin, and Muten Roshi had come to check on the boys, and stared in shock as Goku slowly expired before their eyes.
“Kri...llin.” he whispered hoarsely with a tired smile on his face. “Dying sucks...don’t it?”
“Yeh. We’ll bring you back, Goku.” Krillin sniffed.
“Heh...Thanks.” With a final sigh, the great warrior passed on into the next dimension. Before anyone could cry, though, his body had vanished! Piccolo glared at the bloodstained grass.
“I sense that wretched Kami-sama had something to do with this.” he snorted as Kitty wiped away a tear. Wasting no time, she lifted the body of her dying brother Raditz, hefted him over her shoulder, and flew back to the Opalace.
??
Under the watchful care of Kitty and her Lican Sister, the great Doctor Witch Hazel, Raditz took only a month to heal. He stalked about the palace, cowering in shame at being defeated by his little brother and a Namek, both only half his power. Worse yet, he’d been saved by a woman. Three months after he first set foot on Kame Island, he came upon Kitty, crying in the woods.
“Get a hold of yourself, Woman!” he snapped, unaware of Piccolo, watching from the trees. Kitty sniffed, and began crying again. “What’s wrong?!”
“You wouldn’t understand.” she sobbed, clutching her stomach. Then Raditz noticed. Her waist had gone from 25’’ to 35’’ in less than a month. She hardly ever had an appetite anymore, and threw up most of what she did eat! How could she have gained weight? Raditz became truly concerned.
“Tell me, Kittel.” he said in a softer voice. “Are you sick? Has something happened to you?” She turned to him, her eyes great globes of pure lavender. Her hair began to stand on end, and long, sharp claws shot out from over her nails.
“I AM sick! It’s YOUR FAULT YOU BASTARD!!!” she roared in a voice unlike her own. She tore into him. Within seconds, Raditz was no more. Or, rather, he WAS there...and there, and there, and there...The poor girl had truly snapped. When Piccolo got up the nerve to open his eyes, she lay twitching in a pool of blood, her teeth sunk into Raditz’s right arm, eyes closed tightly. Piccolo inched over to her side, avoiding the puddles of blood and chunks of flesh. He cringed as he pried her jaws off Raditz’s cold, dead flesh. He picked up the poor unconscious girl, and flew her up to the balcony of her living room. As he stepped into the room, he noticed an odd concentration of Chi in the region of her stomach...
??
When Kitty awoke, she lay on the floor of her bed room. Piccolo sat in the window, watching her. “That was quite a fit you threw.” he smirked. “You accomplished what Goku and I couldn’t do.”
“Wha...fit?” It was then that she tasted the blood on her breath, and smelled it on her clothes. Her eyes widened in terror. “I transformed...” she whispered in fear.
“If that’s what you call it.” He thought for a moment. “So you have absolutely no clue as to what just happened?” She shook her head dumbly. He sighed. It wouldn’t be easy to tell her that she’d just committed fratricide. “Raditz is dead.” She looked down at her bloodstained clothes, trembling. The blood was of a slightly purple tint...the blood of a Salzain.
“I....Killed him...” she whispered. Piccolo nodded.
“He confronted you in the woods. Do you remember that?” She nodded. “You said you were sick, and it was his fault. What’s his fault?” She began crying again. Her brother was gone, Krillin wouldn’t know what to do...there was no one else she could tell.
“Oh, Piccolo!” she sobbed. “I’m pregnant!”
