Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Starry, Starry Night ❯ Goten's Secret ( Chapter 1 )
Goten lay curled in the fetal position; his head on his pillow and not a ray of light entering his room. He felt so defeated, so sad, so tired of his emotions… lately all he felt like doing was ending it all. Ever since… a tear ran down his cheek as he drifted into sleep and was hit hard by the memory in the form of a dream…
Two weeks ago, Goten and Trunks lay atop a cliff, overlooking the ocean where the moon was casting pallid shadows on the restless sea below. He remembered Trunks describing the ocean that night as "Silk being torn". Both were physically tired, having spent the day training hard for the battle beginning to arise.
Having long since caught their breath, they lay in silence. Goten had been so nervous… so nervous to tell Trunks. But, then again, he had fought to the death beside Trunks before, so why was he so nervous?
It had taken him months to figure out how to do this. He was 14 and all ready facing one of the hardest things in life.
Trunks, 17, noticed how quite Goten was being. "Something wrong?" He asked quietly, so as to not break the serene stillness of the night around them.
"Trunks… I-" Goten paused. "Trunks I think… I think I love you."
Silence for a moment. "I love you to Goten…"
"No I mean I love you." Goten said.
Comprehension dawned on Trunk's face. "Oh… I-" Trunks couldn't seem to find words at the moment.
Goten took Trunks' hand in his own, both of them tough and worn from battle after battle yet Gotens grip was gentle. Goten was terrified, naturally. First of rejection, and second of losing his best friend.
A minute of uncertainty passed between the two before Trunks took Goten into a hug and they stayed that way for a long, long time. Goten was then laying across Trunks' broad, muscular chest, allowing his head to rise and fall with each of Trunks' breaths. He snuggled against him and Trunks ran his fingers slowly through Gotens hair.
Suddenly Trunks' spoke, the first noise for hours… "The sky…" He murmured, his head tilted up at the clear sky. "It look's like Van Gough's `Starry, Starry Night' don't you think?"
Goten too looked up, and smiled slightly. He agreed with Trunks' at that moment, the two fell asleep in each others arms, and Goten would have given the world to stay atop that cliff for the rest of eternity.
The next morning, 17 minutes after Chi-Chi Son awoke, a scream like no other pierced the air and shattered glass. 3 Minutes after that, the property was covered with medics frantically attempting to revive the 14 year old boy who had slit his wrist's earlier that morning.
