Once they finished their latest romp, she found herself sprawled across the bed with Raditz face buried in her neck. It was difficult to breathe with him resting atop her, but she enjoyed the pulse of his hot breath on her cheek. Simultaneously she petted his vast forest of hair that buried them both. To her surprise it seemed the thump of his heart was almost equal to hers.
"I cannot get enough of you woman," he grunted, pushing himself off her.
"I should be dead, but I feel… energized. Why is that?" she asked.
"Silly woman, did you remember nothing of what I told you? Our bond permits certain things besides mere though to be shared between us. Including energy. Doubtless you wondered how the Prince and concubine mated; it was a similar situation. But a far greater difference between their energies exists then yours or mine," Raditz laughed.
"If we keep this up we'll have to live in the shower, you lummox," she groaned. Raditz smirked and sat up. He reached both hands to her and lifted her down with the ease of a parent boosting a child. Carefully he carried her into the living room, and reached for the blanket strewn across the sofa. He tossed it down to cover the leather upholstery before sitting down himself and placing her on his lap. It felt odd to be sitting fully nude around such a specimen of masculine might. Tanned skin under pale white was an impossible contrast.
To her amusement she realized Raditz was picking the tangles out of her locks with remarkable dexterity for such huge hands. Apparently grooming was another Saiyan trait. In addition to feeding one another, she reminded herself when Raditz reached over her to grab the container of food concentrate power bars he kept on his bedside table. When one was a Saiyan, having stashes of snacks was a good idea.
"Here we go with Saiyan culture 101," she joked.
"Understanding will come in time," he explained patiently. She pushed away the half-eaten bar he shoved into her face.
"No thank you, I'm not THAT hungry! I didn't finish that fruit you left me for breakfast," she said.
"Most fortunate, wait here," he said, pushing her off his lap.
She climbed off his lap so he could stand up. Growling he stretched and arched his back. A loud popping sound caused Stellari to grit her teeth because she knew he was snapping his spine into place. Gently he tossed her the robe that lay draped over the end of the bed. She tied it around her form, chuckling because it was clearly tailored to fit him. He then retrieved his armor that was scattered here and there. Stellari waited for him to get dressed, then decided to dig out the capsule containing her change of clothes from her purse. A quick rinse off in the shower again, and she managed to dress herself in comfortable pants, blouse, and shoes. Sounds of eating came from the kitchen when she was walking out to see what her husband was up to.
The sounds of two boys laughing came to her ears. Apparently Fermi and Bohr were up and eating something judging from the sounds of bowls clanking. Hunched over the table, Raditz was busy stuffing his face with the same abhorrent table manners of his brother Goku. She giggled and moved over to pull the bits of food out of his hair. Raditz grunted and licked his fingers clean of whatever he had demolished.
"Have some peanut butter and cocoa sugar smacks," said Fermi, dumping half the box into Raditz huge bowl. Both boys had taken the mixing bowl and given it to him for a cereal bowl. Most of the fruit and what appeared to be raw bacon was sitting among the gallon containers of milk and huge boxes of sugar-laden cereal.
"C'mon Mommy we saved you some cereal!" Bohr motioned to her.
"Good grief what's this?"
"They knew where the breakfast food was," Raditz looked up, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.
"Sit down, Mom," Fermi urged, getting up and leading her over to his chair. He helped push it in, and Bohr thrust a bowl and dumped cereal in it.
"Well, well, you guys are doing well fending for yourselves," Stellari chuckled.
"We could SMELL the cereal! We couldn't stop!" Fermi admitted.
"Great to see you two dressed and ready for school," Stellari said.
"Yep. Mr. Raditz here insisted," said Fermi.
"We're gonna be late," said Bohr, glancing at the clock.
"Oh man," groaned Fermi. "Sorry Mom…"
"The bus isn't here yet," said Bohr.
"Say goodbye to your mother young ones," Raditz grunted. Both boys ran up to hug her. She got up from the table and rushed to grab several capsules of food for each for lunch.
"Bye Mr. Raditz!" Fermi said, rushing over and slugging his back.
"Bye bye!" Bohr said, giving his neck a hug. Then there was a rush to pick up the backpacks by the front door and Stellari was everywhere at once between the kitchen and the front door helping them get everything ready to leave for the morning.
"These should do," she said, tossing capsules to either boy. Neatly they caught them, and tossed them into their bags.
"A peanut butter and jelly one for you, and a tuna fish for you, and some of those chips you like," she said. "And please eat the fruit instead of bringing it back."
"Yes mom," they grumbled. The sound of the door creaking open and two boy's voices laughing in the hall came to his sensitive ears. All around them echoed the sounds of the other tenants sending their children out to catch the bus, muffled by the walls. Children's laughter and shouts receded behind the door that Stellari closed and locked with the deadbolt.
While all this went on, Raditz continued his gargantuan breakfast. Stellari strode back in, then resumed her seat. Quietly she finished the cereal and then helped herself to some toast and bananas. Was this a preview of what she was up against? Luckily he had his own paycheck, so she wouldn't bankrupt herself trying to feed him and two growing boys.
"I'm going to have to get to work soon," she said.
"As do I," Raditz nodded, glancing at the clock. Then he stood up so he towered over her in his full armor. She rose up and they quickly cleared the breakfast dishes.
"I hate being late on Tuesdays… that's the department meeting," Stellari grumbled, hunting for her keys and purse.
"I must also be at capsule," Raditz said. "I could fly you."
"Are you sure?" she asked.
"Yes," he nodded.
She handed him the object she carried at her hip shyly. He realized it was his scouter, and quickly fussed with placing the device onto his left ear. There was a click that told her he adjusted the suction that held it there, and then he was the ruthless warrior again. Before she could say anything else she felt herself swept up in strong arms and rushed towards the balcony.
"Wait my purse!"
"Already have it," Raditz grunted. Morning air blasted her face, and she grabbed a handful of his mane once he leapt into the air. Flying in his arms was exhilarating. Even though she had the ability to use bukujutsu thanks to Yamcha's training, she could easily tire flying more then ten miles.
Raditz could fly a thousand times further and faster without breaking a sweat. She yelped when he increased speed to that of a commercial plane. Fortunately a thin shell of his ki surrounded them both to protect her from the thinness of the air around them.
"Relax, you can breathe. There's enough oxygen I'm holding around us," he said.
"How high up are we… I can't…"
"You humans breathe far too much oxygen," he complained. "It makes me dizzy."
From his experience he knew humans had difficulty breathing at higher altitudes. Stellari panted still, lightheaded and dizzy. Raditz dropped to a lower altitude and lowered the barrier to allow ambient air flowing through. Stellari gasped, still panting against his shoulder. Raditz cursed before covering her lips with his and blowing breath into her mouth. Negative pressure jumpstarted her breathing so she inhaled with loud whooshing gasps.
"You can breathe. Just relax," he mumbled. "Don't think about it."
"Give me a moment," Stellari murmured. She focussed her thoughts to allow her mind to synch with his. To let the energies of his body balance hers and fool her body into using the precious air more efficiently.
"More of that bond stuff? It's mental, not physical… unless…"
"Humph," he muttered. "Apologies again. I should have explained that the bond does allow for some slight sharing of tendencies. Namely synching bodies to one another. Your heart rate and body temperature are closer to mine, as mine are to yours. The oxygen you are taking in, our bond tells your body to use it more effectively. As it is, your body only uses a small share of what remains in your lungs."
"It makes no sense considering your metabolism is much greater," she said.
"Try flying on your own. I've seen you do it," Raditz said, suddenly flinging her out of his arms. Stellari yelped, desperately tumbling as Earth's gravity pulled her.
Deeply she inhaled the thin air and then focussed her mind. Anything, the latest polymer she worked on, the structure of Benzene. Trying to recite the periodic table, or even remember the oxidation states of regular ions and polyatomics. Things she'd master from grad school. Complex things of higher intelligence that summoned her energies. A purple flicker of power crackled around her body and Stellari felt the acceleration of gravity suddenly becoming negligible. Yamcha had said she thought too much, but then he saw how she had risen up after a whole blasted afternoon of trying. The ability she had to manipulate tiny molecular bonds in carbon dioxide in the air around her into polymers was telekinetic. Hence she could also do so on a larger scale.
Her eyes fluttered open and she was hovering a mile above the earth. Arms spread wide she surrounded her body with the light in her being. Thinking about molecular bonds and vandervalhs forces. Her own body's molecules pushing against every other molecule in the air while wrapping the electromagnetic forces of her own body around to repel. Raditz smelled the crackling of ozone and realized the mechanism for her flight was different from his, but had the same result.
"Use ki. The strength of your human mind, woman," Raditz said as he hovered in front of her. "Your Z warrior friends and perhaps a few of you intellectuals are the only ones with enough insight into tapping into the potential of your little human brains. Use more then that blasted ten percent."
Her labcoat fluttered around her body like a banner, her hair crackling with static electricity as she slowly turned in the air with the force of her mind. Raditz drifted back, and then resumed his course. Stellari increased her velocity, pushing her mind harder. "See if you can keep up with me," he teased.
"Bastard, I can't go THAT fast!"
"Try," Raditz urged. "Most humans wouldn't even have the ability to hover, let alone fly. That minimal martial arts training lets you focus energy, and whatever strange powers you have as well…"
"I understand matter and energy you jerk!" Stellari snapped.
"Do you really?" he heckled. Anger filled her, and suddenly she found herself bursting with speed.
"Holy crap," she got out.
"Faster, yes, faster!" Raditz urged, his hand extended. Stellari gritted her teeth, marshalling all her willpower to focus in a narrow band.
"Don't think so much. Just do it!" Raditz taunted her. "It wastes energy if you try to analyze it too much!"
"Stupid bastard," Stellari growled, her hackles rising. So focussed was she on keeping up that she failed to notice how fast she was flying through the air.
"Yes, that's it, faster!" Raditz taunted.
"At least I won't get more MASSIVE as I go faster!" she shouted.
"WHAT?"
"The faster you approach the speed of light, the more massive you become," Stellari stammered, her energy flowing like a cascade of violet fire. It drifted before her sight, not white or red like the others. She wondered if it had something to do with the energy, then realized it was a side effect of atmospheric ionization. Piccolo exhibited the same color 'aura' while the Prince's was azure and Goku and the other Z warriors were white. Raditz was slightly gold tinged, or nonpresent.
"I wouldn't know. I haven't traveled THAT fast," Raditz laughed. "Not without a space ship."
Her senses were telling her his body seemed to be turning matter into energy. It would explain their voracious appetite. Something told her that hers would go up too if she continued to burn like this. Many would draw energy from the earth around them, and she wondered if she could from the friction of the molecules she was slicing through. Raditz scouter bleeped with the odd energies, wondering at the signature that was neither human nor Saiyan, but alien.
Soon Capsule appeared beneath them, and Stellari decreased her velocity shortly after Raditz. Panting she almost lost her breath when his arm slid around her waist. Gently he held her, then descended to the earth below. Boots touched down with a light tap, and she lay exhausted with her head against his shoulder.
"Relax," Raditz said. Around her the ki field glowed, then her body seemed filled with radiant light. Whatever he had done was a simple transfer of his life force to hers. Only a tiny amount for him but incredible orders of magnitude for hers.
"What the human race could do with such power," she murmured.
"You would no doubt have followed a similar course to the Saiyan," Raditz said. Stellari nodded, swallowing the lump in her throat. Would they have?
