Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Taking Chances and Leaps of Faith ❯ In Which There is Finally Departure ( Chapter 6 )
Cira arose long before the sun to finish the last minute packing for her trip. Her heart was unusually heavy this morning; she supposed it was natural considering she was leaving the only home she had ever known to travel to an unknown planet. Her eyes fell on the tiny portrait of her immediate family. She was just a baby, cradled in her mother's arms, surrounded by her only sister and three brothers. Her father stood behind them, tall and foreboding. Love was in his eyes, though, and Cira had always known that.
Oh, how she would miss them. Her heart was breaking and she was losing control over her life. It was a terrible feeling, being swept into this prophecy that dominated her very existence. How had Lucca coped? He was over a hundred and she could see no signs of weariness, not like those on her parents. She feared most returning to find them gone, faded into the core of her world.
Cira placed the portrait into her last bag and closed it. She could spend no more time with her thoughts: it was time to leave. Shouldering her bag, Cira looked around her room, one more time, memorizing every little detail before exiting, quietly closing the door behind her. The corridors were empty this early in the morning; the sun had not yet risen. Cira allowed her eyes to adjust in the semi darkness before proceeding to Elrondia's only spaceport. This was her favorite time, when the sun had yet to rise and the moon was no longer visible. It did not last long, but Cira treasured the beauty of it, for the stars were still visible and their tiny beams of light bathed everything in silver, while the slim rays of the arriving sun turned everything to gold. There was something about the simple beauty that soothed Cira, and at this present time, soothing was exactly what she required.
The corridor of rooms that housed the Royal Family abruptly ended with a fork, and Cira turned right. Large, ornate doors of silver and gold led to the spaceport. The Royal Family controlled it for very few Elrondians were allowed off world. Cira opened the doors and slipped inside, she was the last to arrive. Her other two brothers, Maipe Kurihi, the second eldest, and Lucian Dracul, the third eldest were there, as well as Raina, who was standing next to Lucca, cold and unsmiling.
Maipe greeted her first, kissing both cheeks respectfully. Maipe was full of fire, his hair as red as flames and his eyes as dark as coal. He was fiercely protective of her; even more so then Lucca, and Cira knew he was not happy with the turn of events.
Lucian greeted her next, just as warmly. Dear Lucian was the most laid back of her siblings. He too was protective, but more eager to see her grow and come into her own. He was a rather subdued man because of all the power he carried. His shape shifting ability, to become a dragon, was difficult to control, so he was forced to tightly restrain himself; therefore he was not as susceptible to the famous Catori temper.
Cira ran her hand down Lucian's dark brown hair in greeting and he smiled, but the grin did not reach his sky blue eyes. "Dear Lucian, do not worry. This is what you wished for."
"I wished for you to be given a chance to grow, not be sent on a suicide mission to some other planet. If you die there, Cira, your soul cannot come back here, it will be trapped on that planet."
"Then I shall be careful not to die."
Lucian frowned. "Do not be so acerbic about my concerns."
Cira sighed and hugged her brother. The two were extremely close because their ages were not so far apart, only ten years. Lucian hugged her back tightly, and then released her. She walked towards their parents and her brother, Lucca. Cira politely nodded to Raina, who nodded back. There was no way Cira would be rude to Raina in front of the Queen and King. She did not wish to get in any more trouble.
Quietly, Cira exchanged goodbyes with her parents, listening to their instructions very carefully. She was to go to the planet Chikyuu and seek out a woman named Bulma Briefs who would require her help. However, her parents could not tell her the mission specifically because even they were unsure of what Cira was required to do.
"You will know," her mother said eventually, "When you have need of the knowledge. For now, ingratiate yourself with Bulma and her family and gain their trust for the time will come when you shall need it."
Cira nodded and kissed both her parents goodbye. Lucca had already entered their two-person pod and was waiting impatiently. Before Cira could board, however, Raina was before her.
"Let us depart on good terms, Princess. I have no wish for you to leave with bitter thoughts of me on your mind."
Cira frowned. "This is a bad time for us to have a girl to girl chat, Raina."
"What I have to say is important, as well as what I have to give you."
"Go on," Cira said, slowly, curious. Raina pulled out a charm from her pocket. It was tiny, shaped like a teardrop and dangling from a thin thread.
"This will help you to see your path, so wear it always and never take it off."
Cira accepted the charm and placed it around her neck. It was unusually heavy, but the weight was not uncomfortable.
The Princess thanked Raina and made to depart, but the beautiful woman stopped her one last time.
"I lied to you, Princess, when I spoke of Lucca. I trust him to take care of himself, and you. I love him, despite what you, and others may think. Now, please, be careful for much is depending on your success."
With those cryptic words, Raina moved away to stand next to the Queen and King. Cira gave her a strange look, but continued on her way, entering the pod.
"It's about time," Lucca grumbled as Cira took her seat. "What were you and Raina speaking about?"
"Nothing you would understand, Lucca," Cira said gently, fingering the teardrop. The pod lurched into motion and rose. Cira waved to her family until they were merely specks and the wide-open space beckoned. Lucca and Cira broke through Elrondia's barrier easily and Lucca plotted a course for Chikyuu.
"How long?" Cira asked.
"Couple of months, I think. Mother said this was the newest technology, so what should've taken several years…won't. I'll set the sleep mode to wake us up a day before our arrival."
Cira nodded and was silent as she waited for the sleep mode to begin. Neither she nor Lucca had to wait long before they were slumbering peacefully, their ship heading towards Chikyuu, merely a blur in space.
