Videl leaned against a wall nervously as she listened to a man yell at his associate. His gruff voice came right through the thickness of the wooden doors that were situated nearby.

"You can't even catch one girl?! You're useless!"

"But sir, she's the daughter of Hercule!" the associate informed.

"Exactly! It'll be a huge win for us if we capture Hercule's daughter! Then, both he and the city are sure to meet our demands, you imbecile!" his boss yelled back, "Find her! NOW!!"

"Yes, sir!"

One of the doors opened and a boy about fifteen years of age eased down the hall, his gun raised.

"If you surrender now I won't have to harm you," he said gazing down the empty hall. "All we want is the money-just enough to start our own country down south." He inched down the corridor. "I promise I won't hurt you. I'm more kindhearted than my buddies in there…"

"Is that why there are at least eight people that I've come by that are laying in pools of their own blood?!" Videl bravely stepped from around the corner, startling the teenager.

He lowered his gun, surprising the young woman before him. "There you are. I need you to come with me." He frowned as he remembered her words. "I know what my comrades did. That's why I'm asking you this so no more innocent people will get hurt."

Videl put her hands on her hips. "You're different from the other guys I beat the crap out of earlier. Care to explain?"

The guy put the strap of his gun around his shoulder. "I… I need the money. It's for my little sister-she's only five. Our parents died about a year ago…" He looked down at the floor in shame. "How could a kid my age…" He trailed off, almost choking on his words. "I joined this group because I knew we'd be taken care of."

Videl thought for a moment. "If you surrender, I'll see what I can work out with the chief, seeing as you're a minor and all… I promise, no jail time."

The teen before her hesitated, then nodded. "I don't care what happens to me, just as long as Sato is safe and happy."

"Hey, he found the brat!"

Four gunmen joined their comrade and pointed their guns straight at Videl.

"Alright, missy. Move out!" one barked.

"Nice work Kioshi." Another patted him on the back. "Boss will be proud!"

"But-" the boy now known as Kioshi started.

"By the way, the baby wants you." The gunman to his left teased as he pointed to the doors.

Videl clinched her teeth. "You made your little sister come with you? In HERE?!

"Shut up, wench!" The last one belted her across with face with his gun, knocking her against a nearby wall. "You don't have the authority to talk!"

Kioshi ran to Videl and helped her up. "I didn't have a choice," he whispered to her, gazing up at his comrades. "Do you guys have to be so rough?"

"Oh, friends now, are we?" One of the gunmen walked forward in a slow pace and grinned. "Let's see how Kioshi likes this…" He lifted his gun and aimed it straight at Videl…

Crystelle raised her wine glass to her red lips as she watched her hubby-to-be chow on his dinner. She twitched as she felt a pain shoot down her jaw and she muttered a silent curse. Hercule looked up at her from his spaghetti plate.

"Do you need some more ice, hun?" he asked, concerned.

Crystelle smiled. "I'm fine."

A servant entered the room and handed Hercule the phone. "A call for you from the police, sir," she said.

"Thanks Valerie." After a moment of listening into the receiver, the Champ jumped up from his seat. "WHAT?!"

Crystelle cocked her head to one side, straining to hear to the person on the other line. When the phone call had ended, Hercule marched out of the room, his first servant, Valerie, in tow. Curious, Crystelle followed them to the stairs, down the long hall to Videl's room. It was empty. Crystelle ran to a nearby open window and looked down.

"She must have escaped from here," she said with a snobby tone. Then, she noticed her battered flowers below on the ground. "Hey! My petunias!"

Videl grabbed onto Kioshi as she felt a burning pain rip through her body. She gazed down, seeing nothing but blood covering her white t-shirt and Orange Star High badge. The gunmen grabbed her from Kioshi and hauled her into the meeting room. They threw her onto the floor where many hostages sat in fright. Right beside where Videl had landed sat a woman that held a little girl no older than five. She clamped her hand over the child's innocent eyes, who in return began to squirm.

"You got to help her!" the little one cried, trying to break away from the woman's grasp.

"No, Sato. Please!" the woman protested as the girl got away and ran to the safety of Kioshi.

"Big brother! Big brother, help her please!"

Kioshi picked up the child and held her firmly against his chest, turning her from the horrible scene. "I'm sorry, Sato…"

Videl tried to focus her vision as she dragged herself away from the gunmen. In agony, she threw one hand in front of her and pulled as hard as she could, the other arm curled tightly around her waist. Tears threatened to spill from her blue eyes. `What the hell am I doing? There's nowhere I can go…' she thought as her body went limp. `I failed…' Sounds of confusion and gunfire erupted suddenly. The last thing Videl saw before her eyes closed was a golden silhouette standing in the doorway.

"G-Gold… Fighter…"
