The Impossible by: Me

A/N Hey, it's me again! I've come to you with my very first songfic. I hope you all will enjoy it as much as you did Vegeta's Sick Day! That was a hit (at fanfiction.net that is)! N-joy!

~*~*~*~*~

My dad chased monsters from the dark,
He checked underneath my bed.
An' he could lift me with one arm,
Way up over top his head.
He could loosen rusty bolts,
With a quick turn of his wrench.
He pulled splinters from his hand,
And never even flinched.
In thirteen years I'd never seen him cry,
But the day that grandpa died, I realized:

Vegeta looked up from his plate and noticed how thin Bulma had gotten. It had been almost three months since she had gone to the doctor, and found out about her illness. It seemed as though she didn't care she only had a few days to live. But…Vegeta knew better.

"Vegeta?" He looked up into her eyes. How he missed that sparkle that those eyes used to have. "You were staring. What's wrong?"

He shook his head. "Nothing." He couldn't stand it any longer! He had to get away! He got up from the table, and headed down the hall. "I'll be training," he muttered over his shoulder.

Once in the gravity room, Vegeta found it impossible to concentrate on his training. He kept thinking of how little time he had left with Bulma. He wouldn't be able to spend time alone with her, for the kids would want to make Bulma's last few days' happy ones.

He stopped his training to go through all the memories had had with her. He remembered how they first met on planet Namek; how she allowed him, a cold-blooded killer, into her house to stay. He even remembered how happy she was when she found out she was pregnant with Trunks and Bra.

I wonder how long it'll take, Vegeta thought to himself. How long will it be until she's gone forever? Will I be able to survive without her? Of course I will, I'm the Saiyan prince!

After training, Vegeta went upstairs to shower off. To his surprised, he found his kids in his and Bulma's room. She was sitting on the bed looking at an old photo album. What frightened Vegeta was that Bulma looked sicker and paler than she had earlier.

"Hey, Vegeta," Bulma greeted the wide-eyed Saiyan. Bulma didn't seem to mind that Vegeta was staring. He had a good reason to be scared. She looked like she had just walked out of a grave. She didn't even bother with make-up anymore; it never seemed to work.

Vegeta looked at his children. He didn't think he'd be able to look at them when Bulma was gone. They reminded him so much of her, especially Bra. He paid them all one more passing glance before heading into the bathroom to shower.

Taking a shower did help. It helped him get a few things off his mind. He wanted to stay in the shower all night. He couldn't stand to look at Bulma; it broke his heart just being with her! He sighed deeply, and turned off the water. She'd probably want to be with him for as long as she had.

Vegeta got out of the shower, wrapped a towel around his lower body, and started drying his hair with another towel.

An' then there was my junior year,
Billy had a brand new car.
It was late, the road was wet,
I guess the curve was just too sharp.
I walked away without a scratch.
They brought the helicopter in.
An' Billy couldn't feel his legs.
Said he'd never walk again.
But Billy said he would and his Mom and daddy prayed,
And the day we graduated, he stood up to say:

"Dad!!" The panic in his son's voice worried Vegeta. "It's Mom!" That worried him more. Vegeta unwrapped the towel that was around him, and slipped on a pair of pajama bottoms. He ran out of the bathroom, and saw a horrid sight indeed.

"Bulma!" No, this can't be happening! Not now! Vegeta rushed to her side. He could hear Bra sniffling, already on her way to tears. Trunks was doing his best to comfort her.

Bulma opened her eyes half way, and grabbed Vegeta's hand. He was shocked at how cold it felt; it was like ice! He tried to give her some of his ki, maybe she would live just a little longer. Unfortunately, his giving her ki didn't seem to help. No, he couldn't let her slip, not yet!

Vegeta could sense her life energy. It was very low and getting ready to leave…for good. He knew Trunks could sense it as well. Bra didn't have to sense anything to notice was about to happen.

Bulma could see the pain in her family's eyes. Bra already had a stream of tears running down her cheeks; Trunks looked like he wasn't far behind. Even, Vegeta, her tough Saiyan prince, looked as though he might cry as well.

"Hey guys, what's with all the tears? It'll be okay," Bulma said weakly. She was trying her hardest to comfort them. It seemed to work, a little. "Come here." She looked to her kids. Trunks and Bra walked over and sat on the side of the bed. "Don't worry about me, okay?" The kids nodded slightly. "Okay, Vegeta?" Her eyes began to droop.

Vegeta didn't nod, or say anything, but Bulma didn't worry too much of it. "We'll miss you, Mom," Trunks said sadly.

"Oh, baby, I'll miss you too, all of you. Don't worry; you guys are a strong bunch. You'll be fine without me." Bulma lightly squeezed Vegeta's hand. "I love you," she said to the trio. Bulma's eyes closed entirely. She took one more breath before falling into an eternal sleep.

So don't tell me that it's over.
Don't give up on you and me.
'Cos there's no such thing as hopeless,
If you believe:

Bra broke down into more tears, while Trunks tried to comfort his sister and himself. Vegeta still held onto his mate's hand, her lifeless hand. He couldn't believe what had just happened. It wasn't possible! No, no… "Noooooo!!!"

Epilogue -

Well, the Briefs family had finally gotten over the fact that their beloved Bulma was gone for good. A few years later after her death, Bra had gotten married to Uub, and she gave birth to a daughter some time after that. Trunks too, had gotten married. Unfortunately for some of us, it wasn't to Pan. Vegeta, for the most part, wouldn't let it go. He refused to acknowledge it to anyone, but at least he knew in the back of his mind. He always remembered that day. That day that he thought would never come. The impossible…

A/N Not bad for my first songfic, huh? Actually, I thought it was kinda sappy near the end. Unfortunately, it's not up to me, but to you, the readers/reviewers. Please review and let me know what ya think, okay? Don't forget to R+R my other fics!
