The Love of the Universe - Prologue

The King of Vegetasei, King Vegeta and the King of Chikyuu, King Briefs walked into the conference chambers of Kami's Palace. The kings began conversating amongst themselves anticipating the arrival of the Kings of the other planets, and Kami. This kind of meeting was labeled as The Universal Meeting, which was a meeting that was held only when there was trouble approaching the universe. The last meeting of this kind was held about 50 years ago, when Freeza tried to take over the universe. Kami defeated Freeza, so that made him the universe's guardian. The two kings bowed as Kami walked into the room.

“Your Majesty”, they said as they straightened up and faced him. Kami returned the bow, and asked the Kings to be seated, and began the meeting. The two kings raised their eyebrows wondering why he was starting the meeting without the other Kings. Finally, King Briefs spoke up.

“Excuse me for interrupting Kami, but why aren't we waiting for the Kings of the other planets? Isn't this an Universal meeting?” Kami turned to the king and responded.

“This matter only concerns the planets of Chikyuu and Vegetasei, so therefore only you two were called upon”. King Briefs bowed and continued to listen to Kami speak.

“Before I begin, did you two bring your children?” Both of the Kings nodded. “Good, I trust that they are both in waiting chambers. Now, to the matter at hand. Men, we have an enemy approaching, his name is Chaos. He is probably the worst enemy the universe has ever faced.”

“When is this enemy arriving?” King Vegeta asked as he began taking notes.

“ I don't know”, Kami sighed. “It could be next week, it could be 50 years from now, he's so powerful, and there's no telling….”

“ So……”, King Briefs said while thinking, “ How powerful is he?”

“ Very powerful, he has strength, plus he's a wizard of some sort. He can only use his magic against the Chikyuu people, what kind of magic, is unknown.”

“So, why is his focus my planet, and Vegetasei?”

“Because if he is to rule the universe, then he has to conquer these two planets, because they are the most powerful. The Chikyuu people are not very strong, but are very intelligent, they have the best technology in the universe, so what they cannot do in strength, can be made up in knowledge. Vegetasei is the home of the strongest species in the universe, the Saiyans. They fight very well, and they fight to the death. Also, Prince Vegeta is the only Saiyan capable of reaching the level of the legendary Super Saiyan, the strongest warrior of all time.” King Vegeta smirked thinking about his son.

“So, why can't the Saiyans just handle this situation?”

“Because Vegeta, if it was that simple, then I would have said so. It is much more complicated than that……” Kami trailed off as he walked to the window and stared out of it. “Do you know why I became the ruler of the universe?”

“Because Freeza killed the current ruler at that time, and you were the only one who had the power to defeated him.” King Briefs said as he began to wonder where this conversation was going.

“Yes, Briefs, you are correct, but I wasn't suppose to rule. I broke one of the rules of the universe. You see, to become rulers of the universe, there must be two lovers, each one from a different planet. They must have a strong love for one another and a desire to guard the universe. They also must be married. I am ruling alone, because I loved the Universe so much, that I risked my life for it. This leads to my next and final issue.”

“What's that?” King Vegeta asked.

“Well……I will be stepping down in about five years, and I was in search of new rulers. After a lot of searching, I found two people willing to fill my position….”

“And who are these two people?”

“I'll bring them in.” With that, Kami walked to the videophone, punched in a code, and an Namekian woman appeared on the screen.

“Yes, Sir”, the woman said happily.

“Calla, please bring them in now.”

“As you wish.” She disappeared from the screen, and the videophone shut off. Within the next couple of minutes, Calla walked in with Prince Vegeta, and Princess Bulma behind her. Kami thanked the kind woman, and she left the room.

“What is this, Kami?” King Briefs said, trying to keep his composure.

“These are the two future rulers of the Universe.”

“Huh?” Princess Bulma said looking very confused. “Me???”

“Yes, you and the Prince.” Prince Vegeta just scowled.

“ With her?” Vegeta turned to Princess Bulma looked her up and down, then looked away. “I don't know her, nor do I want to. Why can't I do it alone? She can do nothing….” Vegeta was interrupted by a slap on the back of the neck courtesy of Princess Bulma. “ Watch it, woman! You don't know what you are dealing with.”

“Try me!”, she said as she stood up to him. Kami them broke it up.

“Now tell me again why they will become the next rulers of the universe?” King Briefs said with a little hint of anger in his voice. “ These two can't even get along.”

Kami chuckled a bit. “Aww, come on Briefs, they don't even know each other yet, but I know that you two as parents will help them out with that. Also, try to merge in little by little with your planets. We have to be ready on a moments notice.” Kami's hands lit up and two platinum rings appeared in his palms. “Come here, children” Bulma walked up to Kami and Vegeta didn't move from his spot, until Bulma came back, grabbed his wrist, and pulled him to where they were to stand. They looked at the rings in Kami's palms. In the right palm, there was a ring with a slender band for a woman, and in the left palm, there was a ring with a wider band for a man. “Bulma, please take the ring on the left, and Vegeta you take the ring on the right. Bulma took the ring and examined it, while Vegeta hesitated.

“Is this some sort of joke? You expect me to marry this woman now? I will do nothing of the sort!” Vegeta was interrupted once again, this time, Bulma stepped on his foot. “You're lucky that didn't hurt woman, because if it did I would've…….”

“No, Vegeta you are not getting married here.” Kami interrupted as he saw a ki ball forming in Vegeta's hand. “You will get married five years from now, on you twenty-first birthdays. It is very convient that you two were born on the same year, on the same day.

“But….” Bulma said in a low voice. “Why us? Out of everyone in the Universe, how did you come up with me and Vegeta?”

“Because, my dear child, I see something in both of you. I see power and strength in Vegeta, and I see love and maturity in you.” Kami watched as Bulma nodded and took the ring from Kami's right palm, and Vegeta followed taking the other ring.

“ Place the ring on each other's right middle finger.” They faced each other and placed the rings on each other's fingers. They held on after the rings were placed, neither knew why, but they did. Bulma then looked Vegeta straight into his eyes, Vegeta got lost in her baby blues. They were so soft, and loving, something in side of him was telling to stop, but he couldn't turn away.

“These rings symbolize a bond between you two. These rings will stay on at all times, because of this bond. This is your destiny. For the planet of Chikyuu and the planet of Vegetasei to unite to become an unstoppable power. The fate of the universe is resting within the both of you. But, if you two don't fall in love, then the bond will be broken, and all hope for the universe will be lost. To make this work, both of you must love each other equally. It can't be a one-sided love. I would like you both to seal this bond with a kiss. Without a second thought about it, Princess Bulma kissed Vegeta softly on the lips. It only lasted a second, but for the both of them, it seemed to last for an eternity. Vegeta pulled away, folded his arms once again.

“Are we done here?” Vegeta didn't know how to react to all of this love business, so he shoved it to the back of his mind.

“Yes, we are. Figure out arrangements amongst yourself gentlemen, and I will see you in five years, unless our enemy shows up before then.”

“Sir”, the two Kings bowed in agreement. With that, Kami left the room leaving the Kings to talk about the next five years. They both figured that it would be simple getting their children to get closer and fall in love.

Little did they know of the challenges yet to come………
