"Wait heart virus?" Iris questioned.

I looked at her and I nodded. "Yeah."

Chhaya frowned. "Sounds about right from what I'm feeling coming from you round about now." She said and looked at me worriedly.

"Do you know of any cure?" Iris asked. "Cause we are not letting you die on us. You nearly died once and that was bad enough. Not again." She added.

I looked at Iris. "I doubt there is a cure here, if there wasn't one in the other dimension there won't be one here. Trust me they are so much more advanced than this world and we're like in the new millennium."

Tien looked at me. "What will happen to you if you die Lee?"

I blinked and looked at Chhaya and Iris. "Well I won't come back, there are no second chances in this world if they are it's through reincarnation."

Tien looked at me. "Well we can't let that happen."

I looked to Tien. "Did Goku tell you what he thought was wrong with me?"

"No he just said you'd fallen sick." Tien replied.

Chhaya looked at Iris then to me. "Well you've booked a doctor's appointment so that's a good start since you know what it is and you've caught it early there could be still a chance that you'll live." Chhaya said. "Iris what do you think?"

"I think that if it's infectious this world could be doomed if there's no cure."

I arched and eyebrow at Iris. "I knew it eventually Iris would send a rain of gloom and doom in on me sometime this morning if it isn't about the guys I see it's about my very life being taken from me." I remarked.

Tien looked to Iris. "She's over dramatic at times. Don't worry we have pow wow on our side and if we gather enough energy we might be able to delay the effects."

"Yeah and let me live in suffering." I mumbled to myself.

Chhaya glared at me. "Now who's gloom and doom huh?"

"Hey I have a right to be. I'm going to die here." I exclaimed. I guess I fell in to over reaction and depression mode in one and I was getting snappy at the topic.

"Well then you better get your things to do list so we can do them all before you die." Chhaya said. "I've got mine written out. What about you?" She asked me.

I blinked for a moment and I looked at Chhaya. "Er no."

Chhaya pulled out a piece of paper and a pencil and she handed them to me.

"Get writing girl."

"Chhaya I have other things to worry about like making sure the boy is well off first remember? I have to see the lawyer later on today to sort that out. Then I have to sort out the estate costs and what goes to Matthew and what goes to my grandmother. Then my mother's family..." I remarked.

"Stop that right now. I'm the one training to be a lawyer here I'll go over it with you first. We can start after you're doctor's appointment but for now finish your breakfast and get your butt back in to your room and in to bed." Chhaya ordered.

I blinked and I looked at Tien and he held his hands up. "Don't look to me for help Goku told me to make sure you didn't leave the house. This doesn't involve me."

***

I listened to Chhaya eventually. So I lay in my bed not wanting to go to sleep for that sinking fear if I did that I wouldn't wake up. I rolled over several times in the bed and I looked to the window hearing the wind blow and then beat tree branches up against it. My door opened and I rolled over and looked at Goku who stood in the doorway his expression filled with worry and he walked in. I sat and up and Goku's hand went straight to my forehead checking my temprature.

"I'll be okay." I said softly.

Goku looked at me his worried expression didn't leave his face. I could tell just by his expression Tien had informed him what we both suspected.

"Lee we don't know that. Look at what this thing did to me. In this world it could attack you faster or slower deeping on what your immune system is like." Goku said.

I looked down. "It's pretty low my immune system."

"When's your doctor's appointment?" Goku asked.

"Two pm." I replied.

Goku's hand brushed my brow. "Lee. I really don't want to lose you in this world I don't know if we'd ever see each other in the afterlife."

I looked to Goku. "I'm not going to die. I'm not going to let myself die." I said with determination in my voice. I felt if I made myself believe then it would be okay.

Goku looked to the clock that read 11am and he looked to me.

"Get some sleep Lee." He said softly.

I shook my head. "No I can't not until after the doctor's appointment."

Goku looked at me. "We've already called up the doctor she's coming out this way to check on you." he said.

"She's making a house call? Since when does she make a house call?" I asked.

"Since today when Chhaya and Iris called her up and told her it was serious."

"But Goku what if... what if I don't wake up?" I asked suddenly panicked.

Goku looked at me he kissed me on the forehead. "I'll wake you up I promise. It'll be just like it was on Yardrat. Remember?" He asked.

I smiled remembering him grabbing my nose while I was sleeping so I'd wake up.

I nodded and I hugged him. "I trust you. Don't let me die." I said.

Goku watched me as I pulled my teddy bear up to my chin and I curled in to it and let my eyes drift close. I heard Yamcha enter the room and speak with Goku as I was drifting off to sleep.

"How bad is it Goku?" I heard Yamcha ask with a serious but concerned voice.

"She's just scared. I haven't seen her clutch her heart or experience any head aches or blurred vision as of yet. Until she starts dreaming we won't be able to tell." He replied.

"I think we're all scared. We knew this would happen to her eventually. But I didn't expect it to be so soon."

"I didn't either until Tien told me that Chhaya sensed the decrease in her health. I trust her friend's judgements after all they've known her longer than any of us."

"What's causing her to be scared?"

"She thinks when she goes to sleep she won't wake up. Like what happened to me."

I felt at that point my mind lock out of their conversation and I fell in to a deep sleep.

***

While I slept I saw my mother in my dreams. my dream just me lying in my bed while her ghost stood and watched over me from the corner. She gave me a comforting smile. I didn't understand it. I could see Goku and Yamcha in my room along with the doctor, Iris and Chhaya and I realised I was watching the entire thing from the ceiling. I looked round. I doctor was taking my pulse and then she pulled out the needle. I smiled as I saw Goku jump back and away and stand behind Yamcha it was quiet comical looking and I knew if this was the animated reality Yamcha would be sporting a large sweatdrop.

I felt something then like a stabbing pain to my chest and I bolted up from the dream with a cry. I looked round the room and blinked like my dream there was Yamcha with Goku behind him, Chhaya and Iris the doctor smiled at me and she nodded.

"What happened?" I asked.

Chhaya took my hand. "You nearly died girl that's what happened."

"Goku tried to wake you but you didn't." Iris remarked.

I looked over to the corner and I blinked seeing my mother's shadow against the wall but I couldn't see her. I saw the shadow wave before it vanished.

"Mum?" I questioned looking at the corner.

The group of them all looked to where I was looking.

"Aw Lee." Chhaya hugged me.

"Chhaya I know his is going to sound stupid but I saw my mother in that corner watching me." I said.

Chhaya looked at me. "Well I believe you. You've always been able to sense or see things we can't." She said.

Iris looked at the corner. "Well the room definately feels different."

"I'm going to ask you to do your mirror thing later Iris." I said and I lay back down.

The doctor wrapped a band round my arm and I cringed and I looked at the needle and shook my head. "no way that's not really neccary is it?!"

the doctor smiled at me. "don't worry it won't hurt."

"I'm not worried about the pain I'm worried about how many attempts it's going to take! I don't want to look like the after picture of a pin cushion!" I exclaimed.

Yamcha threw Iris a confused look and I saw her look back at him. "Lee's veins are really hard to spot to get the needle in. Last time it took fours tries and Lee was so frustrated and pissed off they had to wait till she calmed down." Iris explained.

"I hate needles." I grumbled angrily.

"At least you don't have to do it yourself this time." Chhaya grinned.

I grumbled again. I had not liked that when I was in hospital last they just left the needle in the table for me to inject in to myself. Then again I rarely stayed in the same spot for long for them to do it for me. I looked at the doctor.

"I'm not going back to hospital am I?" I asked.

I watched and cringed as she injected the needle and first time off managed to extract some blood for the tests. She looked at me.

"Well I haven't seen these sort of symptons before so it really depends it might be for the best if you did." She said and removed the needle tip and wrapped it up and threw it away in a small plastic bag placing it in to her bag.

"Of course you haven't seen these symptons before." I grumbled and crossed my arms annoyed. "I know what it is why can't you people just believe me."

"Look you know we have to wait till the blood test results get back before we can do anything." The doctor replied.

"Remember last time?" I asked her. "Last time they said the same thing yet they kept taking more and more blood because they didn't know what it was!"

Yamcha put his hand on my chest and I let out a frustrated breath.

The doctor left with Chhaya and Iris following.

Yamcha looked at me. "This happen often?" He asked me.

"Only once before my entire left leg was infected with this virus that they didn't know what it was and they pumped me up with anitbiotics through an I.V. I missed out on two weeks of school in my school cert year. I eventually got sick of them and checked myself out. Even today they don't know what it was."

Iris walked back in and she looked at me. "Dudette. That doctor lady thinks it's that old virus coming back." She remarked.

I sighed. "Great. So I'm just going to be ignored and die. This life sucks."

"Gee such a possitive person you are." Iris drooled sarcastic.

***

I was bedded for indefinate I could only get up to handle the things people have to do. Yamcha was set in my room as a guard to stop me from getting up and about. I could just as easily pull the instant transmission and go somewhere but I just wasn't ready. There was an android out there threatening to use me as bait for Goku. That was the last thing I wanted was to be nabbed while trying to fight a virus that my world didn't believe existed. I rolled over in my bed and Yamcha looked at me from where he was sitting reading one of my brother's car magazines. It was strange seeing Yamcha like that. He looked at me over the top of the magazine and I saw his brow crease and he got up and walked up to me placing a hand on my forehead.

"Lee you're not looking any better." He said worriedly. Even though it had been a day since he had told me to move on. I felt still drawn to him. I had that fall back on Goku which made me kick myself but the pull towards Yamcha was stronger in this world.

"So I look pastier than normal?" I asked and smiled.

He smiled back. "Very pasty."

"I could go for some pizza ya know with lots of tomato paste and spaghetti and meatballs and bits of herbs and spices-" I began.

"Hungry huh?" He asked.

I smiled at him. "Yeah."

"Well I'll go let Chhaya know and she can organize it I'm not suppose to leave you alone for to long." he said.

I nodded. "I'm not going anywhere I promise." I said.

Yamcha nodded and he left the room. I pulled my bear up from under the sheets and snuggled in to the fur and I looked at the door which was left open then I felt this litle figure jump up on the end of my bed.

Yamcha came back moments later to find my which my kitten her little head rubbing under my chin as I was running my hand down her fur.

I looked at Yamcha and I saw his expression and my kitten looked at him and she let out a small meow.

"You miss Puar don't you?" I asked.

Yamcha nodded. "Yeah I hope she's okay."

I nodded. "I'm sure Master Roshi will watch over her for you."

Yamcha sat back down on the seat and he looked at me. "I'm the one who died yet it feels like to me it was her." He said watching my kitten wander to the end of the bed and walk round in a circle on the blanket then just fall over on it and go to sleep.

He looked so sad thinking about it. "I can't believe that I'm dead again ya know. Three years of life before snap just gone like that." He sighed.

I sat up and he looked at me. "I have a reassurance that you'll be wished back to life."

Yamcha looked at me. "Lee have your visions returned?" He asked.

I shook my head. "No lets just say I got a visit from the future instead. The Namek dragonballs are still in use. But it'll be a while till the wish can be granted."

"It was Trunks wasn't it?" Yamcha asked.

I nodded. "Yeah he told me about Alethea too. Apparently Bulma's looking after her. And she has a great love for baseball."

I saw Yamcha smile and he pulled the chair over to the side of my bed. "What else did he say?" He asked curious. "Ya know just in case."

"She has a love for wearing your titans baseball hat. I think Trunks likes her. I'm not to sure. But she loves to fight and she has your hair." I replied and ruffled Yamcha's spiky hair. He looked at me. I could tell he wanted to see for himself.

"I wish I could be there to watch her grow up. To help train her. Watch her do the typical things first steps, first words..." He smiled again. "first date."

I looked at Yamcha just watching him made me realise how much I had just taken him for granted. He had always just been there. After that one night. We had never said it offically that we were a couple but the group had seen it that way. That one night. The one clubbing night that changed it all. I found myself remembering how drunk we both had been and our decision to find a hotel for the night to sleep it off. But we hadn't sleep. My senses picking up every inch of energy. I had felt like some sort of infection in that world. Yamcha and Bulma hadn't even been seperated for a year that I normally would of gone no to any date at. But when Yamcha had found out it took a month for Vegeta to get Bulma he had gone out every night with a broken heart. The reality of them getting back together gone after Bulma announced her pregancy. It took two months for me to pull Yamcha out of that depression remembering what Trunks had told me.

I saw Yamcha look down at me where I was lying and he smiled at me.

"La-di-da-di-da it's the mutha fuckin' D-R-E..."

I looked to my door as I heard my brother turn his music up loud. I let out a sigh.

Yamcha looked at the door also and then looked at me.

"Is his music always this loud?" Yamcha asked.

"Do you need to ask?" I asked in reply.

***

It had taken only a few minutes after eating a chicken pizza with spaghetti and meatballs that I had fallen asleep ehusted. Even though I was asleep my mind seemed to be concious of the people around me. I heard Yamcha talking to Vegeta and Goku. It appeared the saiyan prince had decided to show himself at my house.

I felt a clothe dabbed on my forehead and I heard Yamcha's voice.

"She seems to be getting worst you guys and it's only been a matter of hours since the doctor left." I felt his hand touch my cheek but I also felt that I was to weak to even react from it. "Goku what's going to happen if she dies?"

"I don't know Yamcha. This world is so different from our own."

"Hmph. Well it appears there are other saiyans on this planet so maybe we could find a ship and get her back to that planet where she got the darn virus from and get them to make an antidote for her." Vegeta said his voice was gruff but the suggestion was taken seriously even though he made it sound like he was being sarcastic.

"How many other saiyans do you think?" Goku asked.

"Saiyans here?" I heard Yamcha whisper. "But I thought that they didn't exist here?"

"Well apart from the girl's father and brother, six others. That I have sensed while flying over this planet." Vegeta replied.

"They existed here in our realm. So why not?" Goku asked.

Yamcha nodded. "But Lee she doesn't seem to think she's a saiyan."

"She had a tail didn't she?" Vegeta remarked.

"Yeah but her brother doesn't."

"Well it could of been cut off or it could be hidden even from him, remember Lee's mother is a witch there are such spells as glamours." Goku remarked.

My mind was taking in all they were saying. Was it possible that I was actually a saiyan. After all I had seen my planet destroyed by Frieza in the dragonball world.

I felt the cloth being taken off my head and I heard it dipped in water and rung out then felt it being put back on my forehead in soft dabbing motions.

"It makes sense she would be in denial she is after all only a half saiyan." Vegeta said. "She was raised by her mother not her father."

I felt my insides break at them talking about my mother. She was gone and I had images of the coffin being lowered in to the ground. My mother's family standing round the grave. It hurt. The last funeral before going to the dragonball world I had gone to with her and I had at least her to stand next to and comfort me. But at her funeral I was the one comforting Neil. I felt pain sting inside of my heart and I gasped. It wasn't the loss I was feeling anymore it was the virus. I had reached my heart in a matter of hours and in a handful of days I would be dead.

I jilted and I felt two hands hold me suddenly.

"Guys." It was Yamcha. "Look at her. She looks really bad."

I heard the door creak open. "Hey I'm just about to do some food with Iris what do you guys want?" Chhaya's voice asked.

"Um anything really." Goku replied. "just makes sure there's lots of it."

"Sure- look at her she... she er... looks white."

"That's cause she is." Yamcha remarked.

"haha make fun of the black person... no what I mean is she's more white like death- er ghostly white." She corrected herself.

"Vegeta can you see if you can locate these saiyans I think we've got no choice but to return to Yardrat with her. It looks like it's going to be the only way to save her." Goku said his voice serious.

I heard Vegeta grunt in reply and I heard his footsteps as he left my room and then I heard the door shut. My body only sensed Goku and Yamcha in the room.

The clothe was removed from my forehead again and I heard it dipped back in the bowl of water and reapplied to my forehead.

"Did I look this bad when I was dying Yamcha?" Goku asked.

"Well not this early. I think it's cause she's not as strong as you are to fight it."

"How long did it take?" Goku asked.

"About seven to ten days till you looked this bad. Then from then onwards about five days till your body finally gave up." Yamcha replied.

"Lee's half the size I am and only half saiyan I would of thought she would of lasted just a bit longer than this. I don't understand." Goku remarked.

I felt like I was letting them down by not fighting this thing. Truth had it I didn't know how. Nor did the rest of my body. In my sickness I could feel my mother's presence in the room with us and I groaned as I felt her close.

"Mum..." I breathed in and I felt a cold hand touch my cheek and I knew instantly it was my mother's.

"Lee." I heard Yamcha's voice. "Goku I think she's waking up."

I felt my mother's presence back up just a little bit and I opend my eyes hoping I could see her and I looked over to the corner of my room seeing the shadow of my mother there. I looked at the shadow and it slowly vanished from the wall and from my sight. I sighed and I looked up and I saw Goku and Yamcha look down at me.

"How you feeling Lee?" Goku asked me.

"I feel like death warmed up." I replied.

Goku gave me a comforting smile and I looked at him. "I'll never joke about being death again... if I live through this." I replied.

Yamcha looked at me. "Just rest Lee. You need to keep your strength."

I nodded and watched him as he removed the clothe again and put it in the bowl of water. "I felt the virus I felt it hit my heart it's so hard to contol." I said.

Goku nodded. "I know. It hurts too. Like your body doesn't want to listen."

I nodded. "Yeah like an anxiety attack except in ten fold."

Yamcha looked at me. "What would you know about anxiety attacks?"

"I've suffered from three of the bitches that and a mental break down and a few bouts of depression. Trust me I know." I replied.

"But you're only in your mid twenties..." Yamcha remarked.

"Correction twenty-one. I was born nineteen eighty and it is just in to two thousand and two. My world ages slower than yours." I remarked. "So much slower..."

"Twenty-one and you've suffered from all that? How on earth?" Yamcha asked.

I shrugged casually it was normal for someone of my stress level. I guess they didn't really have that in their world. "Most of it is stress related that and the whole over working myself. Typically monkey. I think." I said.

"Uh-huh..." Goku remarked.

"It's true nineteen eighty the monkey year... and nineteen seventy-nine was goat year. Though don't ask me what astrology that's from cause I have no iii-dea..."

"Lee close your eyes and go back ot sleep." Yamcha ordered.

I smiled and did as I was told. It was cute when he got all adult on me. Especially when I tended to fall off in to rambles that they wouldn't understand.

***

Next time I woke up I heard Confidential's 'It really don't matter' blaring from my brother's speakers I think it was that song that woke me up. I sat up and looked round the darkness of my room but I was able to make out a figure dozing in the chair and I squinted my eyes to get a look at the figure. I arched and eyebrow and blinked. I reconized the white cape and turban and I pulled the cover's back and I stood up and slipped towards the door when his familiar green hand shot out suddenly and grabbed me by the wrist and he looked upand shook his head at me.

"Back to bed Leona." Piccolo ordered.

"But I'm hungry!!" I protested. "You know depriving a saiyan from food is like um depriving an artist from his canvas." I remarked.

Piccolo looked at me. "Okay so I suck at metaphores. Plus I want to tell my bro to turn his music down and anybet that's my CD he's playing..." I added.

Piccolo let go of my wrist "Ten minutes then." he said.

I nodded and walked out and I looked behind me as Piccolo followed me. I banged on my brother's door Confidential was still blaring out then it was followed by a loud explostion and I opened the door hurriedly. "RUSSELL!!!!" I exclaimed and watched on Neil's tv to see Russell Wong's character Kai Singh drive away from the burning waterfront property.

Neil looked at me. "What are you doing up?" He asked.

"I woke up because of your stereo."

Neil shrugged. "I'll give you the movie to watch later."

"Kay... yay I get to see Russell in drool worthy suit and shades.... mmmmmm..."

Neil arched an eyebrow and I heard Piccolo clear his throat behind me and I nodded and looked at Neil "Okay gotta get food so just turn it down soon so I can go back to sleep okay?"

Neil nodded. "Yeah."

I left his room and bounced in to the kitchen and I grabbed a chicken burrito from the freezer and threw it in the microwave while I put a couple of pieces of toast in to the toaster. I grabbed a bananna, kiwi fruit and an orange from the fruit bowl and an apple from the fridge and a large bottle of orange juice.

I made myself bananna on toast and piled the rest of the food on to the plate and walked back to my room with that and the glass of orange juice.

I got back in to bed and began to eat my food and Piccolo sat back down in the seat. It was strange to see him use one and I looked up at him.

"Where's Goku and the other guys?" I asked.

"Vegeta took them to meet another saiyan about the use of his spaceship." Piccolo replied. "They want to take you to Yardrat to find a cure."

I blinked 'So they're going through with it.' I thought.

***

It was over a week Goku and the others were gone for and I was having trouble keeping conciousness. On occassion Krillen would drop by to check on me. For some reason he had decided to stay behind so him and Piccolo did shift watch on me.

I remembered once I woke up after being out for over twenty hours and everything in my room was dark and I sat up there was no one in my bedroom and I got up slowly and groggingly and walked to the kitchen. Being saiyan I still had that hunger thing going. I stopped as I saw the numerous amounts of paperwork on the table and I frowned and flicked on the light it was for my brother's student allowence they wanted parent income information and I frowned. That meant contacting my father. I swallowed what if Vegeta and my dad actually did know each other? That would be the most strangest thing. My dad being a saiyan in this world it was odd coming to terms that our worlds did cross.

"Leona." I heard a familiar voice remark and I looked over my shoulder at Krillen walking in to the kitchen. I smiled at him.

"Hey Krillen I'm just hungry." I said.

He nodded. "Yeah you would be. You've slept for so long."

I looked at Krillen. "I think I'm getting worst." I said as I opened the fridge and pulled out a bottle of chocolate milk. I poured myself a glass and put the bottle back.

Krillen looked at me. "Well Goku called two hours ago. They say they've located your father visiting an ex boyfriend of yours."

I frowned. "Ummmm what country?" I asked.

"Australia."

"Oh... My father actually lives there." I replied and began cooking myself up a couple of vege hotdogs and some french fries. I sat down at the kitchen table and Krillen sat down and he looked at me worriedly.

"Lee you don't look too good." He said.

I nodded. "I know. I don't feel too good. I keep having these dreams kinda like it's telling me what's wrong and where about the virus is striking. and where my immune system is failing in protecting me." I explained.

Krillen looked at me. "Wow that must be weird for you huh?" He asked.

I shrugged. "At first but then I realised what was going on. At the moment I'm okay but my system is failing me in my throat. My heart's just hanging on." I explained.

Krillen looked at me. "Did it tell you how long you have?" He asked.

I looked at Krillen. "About nine weeks perhaps. Being in this world my immune system is stronger and I can keep fighting it so long as I know where it is."

"All this because your dreams are helping you?"

"Sub consciously." I replied. I got up and checked on the hot dogs cooking I then checked on the french fries and I sat back down again after checking on them.

"How do you know if you're winning?" Krillen asked me.

"I'm informed. one of my dreams showed me I was losing and I knew this because I saw myself and she reached out and grabbed me by my throat and began to choke me. I woke up feeling the virus moving further down my throat."
