1) Story
It is a dark time for the Rebellion. Although the Death Star
has been destroyed, Imperial troops have driven the rebel
forces from their hidden base, and pursued them across the
galaxy.

Evading the dreaded Imperial Starfleet, a group of freedom
fighters, led by Luke Skywalker, have established a hidden
base, on the remote ice world of Hoth.

The evil lord Darth Vader, obsessed with finding the young
Skywalker, has dispatched thousands of remote probes, into
the farthest reaches of space.

All credit for this story is given to Lucasarts, for the intro
of Star Wars Episode 5, the Empire Strikes Back.

2) Game Review
The Empire Strikes Back had a lot to live up to when
released for Game Boy. Not only was its predecessor a
million seller, but the Empire Strikes Back, in my opinion,
and the opinions of most of my friends, is the best movie
ever made.
I think the game did a good job of living up to the the
standards of furious, extremely difficult gameplay, set by
Star Wars, and it is so difficult, most of my friends agree
with me, it is the hardest game ever. However, the
complexity and difficulty of the game, make it one of the
most rewarding to beat.
I would consider this, all in all, the best platform game
ever, also. When I got it, there were no internet
walkthroughs, published strategy guides, and most of my
friends gave up on the first few missions, so I was all on
my own. It took me a year to beat, the most of any game
I've ever beaten, and two and a half years to beat it with all
Jedi powers. I hope to solve that problem for anyone who
has this game.
The gameplay is neat, and the graphics are absolutely
unsurpassed for Gameboy. The only problem is the lack of
any kind of non-gameplay scene at all, and the ending is
sort of cheap.
So Here it is, the first Empire Strikes Back Walkthrough
ever!

3) Moves and Controls

The first thing any aspiring Jedi needs to know, is the
basic moves and controls of the game. The initial controls
are very simple, but get more difficult, as you start to use
the force more and more often. Below are the controls for
the basic moves, and then the vehicle controls, as well as
Jedi power controls.

A) Basic controls
walk or run: To walk or run, simply press the control pad
in the direction you wish to go.

shoot or swing lightsaber: To shoot or use lightsaber, press
the B button. With the blaster, you can fire in up to eight
directions, using the control pad. You also have three
different lightsaber attacks. If you don't press anything
while swinging, is the same as pressing down, Luke will
slash down, and will hit the ground with the tip of his
lightsaber. If you hold the side arrows while swinging,
Luke will advance forward, while swinging twice. If you
hold up while swinging, Luke will slash his saber, and then
jab upwards.

jump and advanced jump: To perform a standard jump, you
press the A button. To perform a high jump, with a flip,
Hold down, until Luke flashes, like he has been damaged,
and then press A, to perform the advanced.

B) Force Power controls
Jump power controls: to perform a force accelerated jump,
arm the force power on your force power screen, by
highlighting it and pressing A or B, then press A. Luke
will do a jump similar to his advanced jump, but he does
not have to warm up, and he goes farther and higher.

Speed controls: Simply arm power, and press side to side,
and Luke will actually run faster than an AT-ST.

Deflection Controls: Just arm power, and Luke will deflect
enemy shots, without you pushing buttons.

Heal Power: Just arm it, and it does it's work.

Seeing beyond power: Just arm it, and it is on.

Levitation controls: Activate it, and then press up on the
directional pad to levitate.

Advanced Saber: Just arm it, and your saber becomes
much more powerful.

Advanced Blaster: Arm it, and your blaster shots do an
immense amount of damage.

C) Vehicle controls
Tauntaun: Okay, it isn't a vehicle, but the tauntaun is the
first thing luke can ride. It's moves and controls are almost
exactly the same as Luke's, except all the tauntaun's moves
are accelerated versions of Luke's.

Snowspeeder: The snowspeeder can fire it's high powered
laser cannons with the B button, and can accelerate with
the side to side controls, and change directions. It can pull
up with the up and down controls. One absolutely crucial
control to beating level 2, which is not mentioned in the
manual, is the harpoon gun. The select button fires the
harpoon, which fires forward, and if it hits a walker's legs,
the walker goes down.

X-wing: The X-wing controls are exactly like those of the
snowspeeder, except the X-wing can pull up and down
infinitely, and goes faster than the speeder.

AT-ST: The AT-ST has the same controls as the tauntaun,
except the select button self-destructs the walker, so you
cannot use it anymore. The cannons fire like shockwaves,
which are much more destructive, even than advanced
blaster shots.

4) Characters, Vehicles, and enemies.

A) characters and supervillians

Luke Skywalker: Luke is the central character in the movie
and the game, and you play as him the whole course of the
game. Luke is an aspiring Jedi, and learns the ways of the
force, and is confronted by his own fears, as the course of
the game unfolds.

Leia Organa: Leia is Luke's one of Luke's most loyal
cojacks, and talks to you often over your communicator. In
Echo Base, Artoo Deeto will give you messages from her,
but you never meet her in person until just before the final
battle with Darth Vader.

Han Solo: Han is one of Luke's dearest friends, and has
pulled him out of many dangerous situations. Han
communicates with you very often, and you never actually
see him in the flesh, even though you save him from the
carbonite (the low point of this game), which didn't really
happen until Return of the Jedi.

Artoo Deeto: Artoo Deeto is the sidekick that helps you
most in the game. In the earlier levels, all he does is give
you messages, but eventually, he will save your life in
Cloud City, by deactivating the defensive beams, which kill
on contact.

Obi Wan Kenobi: Even after death, Obi Wan does a heck
of job of giving you visions of hope in your most desperate
times. He also gives you a hint as when your lightsaber is
near.

Yoda: The Jedi master that trained Obi Wan, is back with
all his heavily cliched and corny sayings, but also with the
advice of eight hundred years of being a Jedi. He will work
your tail off in the Jedi training level.

Darth Vader: Will the Real Slim Shady Please levitate on
up, please levitate on up, get the corny joke? When
Eminem said there's a slim shady in all of us, he's right
about this dude, almost pure evil! The dark jedi, who never
reveals his secret in the game to Luke, is who we're talking
about. The dude you fight in the last level. Can you keep a
secret? Good. Darth Vader is Luke's dad.
Darth Vader is defintely the most difficult villian in
the game, not only because he has the force throw power,
some kickin' lightsaber moves, levitation, and infinite
deflection powers, but, get ready, he has five lives!
Actually, six, if you count Luke's dream encounter on
Dagobah, which of course is included in the game.

Boba Fett: For about the last half of the game, you are
pursuing the evil bounty hunter, Boba Fett on Bespin, in
search of Han. The final showdown, over the planet
Bespin, is understated, but should not have been included,
since it never really happened in the movie.

B) Vehicles
X-Wing: Luke's fighter, which he uses to take down TIE
fighers, Cloud cars, and Boba Fett's ship.

Snowspeeder: Luke's fast and small fighter in the second
level, the snospeeder, has two laser cannons, and a
harpoon launcher.

AT-ST: The AT-ST is a formidable and fast opponent,
until you can take it down, and climb inside. It can walk
directly over deadly terrain, and it has lasers powerful
enough to take down a probe droid in two hits.

AT-AT: The big brother of the AT-ST, you cannot pilot
the AT-AT, but it still is a much more dangersous opponent
than the scout walker.

Slave 1: Boba Fett's distinctive ship, it has a time mine
launcher on the back, and a rapid-firing laser cannon the
front. It is easily exploited, though.

tauntaun: Luke's first "vehicle," the tauntaun can jump
high, run fast, except it takes lots of damage very quickly.

C) Enemies
young wampa: The smaller version of the huge ice
creature, this small predator lives in the dark cold caves of
the ice world of Hoth.

adult wampa: This huge creature is about three times the
size of a tauntaun, and the same size as an AT-ST. It takes
many hits from a lightsaber or blaster to take down this
huge beast. It's only weakness is that it won't usually go
right near the edge of ice cliffs, which make a good sniper
position.

dagbats: These fast creatures can be found on Hoth and
Dagobah, and take only one hit, but are hard to pin down.

probe droid: these small Imperial droids are lightly armed,
but often travel in groups.

masterprobe: The masterprobe has several guns, and its
legs make formidable clubs in combat. The masterprobe is
the key to beating the ice field level.

stormtrooper: You first encounter the doggedly persistant
trooper of Imperial power, in Echo Base. In the Base, the
troopers are wearing snow uniforms, but they wear them
the whole game, even in the hellish, hot, and dark carbon
freezing facility in cloud city. The trooper has a rapid
firing blaster, and can run pretty fast. They also usually
work in teams.

vine snakes: you encounter vine snakes on Dagobah, and
only Dagobah. They hide in knotholes in trees, and they
jump out to strike at you.

underslugs: These small slugs hunt in pairs on the forest
floor of Dagobah, and move very quickly. They are also
almost implossible to hit with blaster or lightsaber.

elephant slugs: These huge slugs take a while to wear
down with a blaster or lightsaber, and jump really fast.

small spiders: These easily exploited spiders fall from the
canopy of trees, but can only move up and down, and are
easy to hit.

large spiders: These huge spiders are the most deadly
enemy on Dagobah. They run fast, can tear you up with
their legs, and they shoot damaging web from their mouths.
When you encounter one, you should probably run like
heck.

mantis: These creatures are slow flyers, but can do some
serious damage. The best strategy against them is using
advanced blaster.

exploding mushrooms: For those of you with the manual,
there are no exploding mushrooms. This is taken from the
Nintendo version, in which the mushrooms on Dagobah
will blast open. This does not happen on Gameboy.

TIE Fighters: These small fighters are the signature fighter
design of Imperial pilots. They fly fast and fire fast, but
can only take one hit. They can only be fought in the
Bespin dogfight level.

Cloud Cars: The police cars of Bespin's mining facility's,
they fire slow, fly fast, work in teams, but do not have any
more armor than TIE fighters. They can also only be
fought in the Bespin dogfight mission.

laser security beams: This is not really an enemy, but it is
an invincible wall of flame that kills on contact, and only
Artoo Deeto can deactivate them.

bounty hunters: These heavily armored minions of Darth
Vader roll along the ground, popping up to fire their
blasters. They are pretty easy to take down. I will discuss
strategy for them in the boss strategy section.

bespin guards: These heavily armored guards wear combat
suits, with laser cannons in their rists, which are as
powerful as the turrets that stormtroopers operate in Echo
Base.

stormtrooper gun turrets: These high powered blasters are
operated by troopers in Cloud City and Echo Base.

Ugnaughts: You do not encounter these small piglike
creatures, until the final battle with Darth Vader. They run
around in small robes, and throw grenades.

5)Powers and Weapons
A) Weapons
blaster: The blaster is Luke's first weapon, and one of only
two. It fires quickly, but does not do much damage.

lightsaber: The true weapon of a Jedi, this small weapon
must be found in the ice caves. It does more than twice the
damage of a blaster, and is the only weapon to have an
effect on Lord Vader.

B) Jedi Powers

jump power: This power makes Luke jump higher and
farther than normal.

speed power: This power makes Luke run extraordinally
fast.

deflection power: This power deflects enemy laser blasts.

seeing beyond power: I've found this power, but I can't
figure out what it does, so I don't use it.

levitation: The most essential power, this makes Luke
elevate upwards, endessly, until his force power drains, that
is.

heal: This rip off of a force power, completely drains your
force energy, to give you full health. This is the only
power that has actually led to my death, by robbing me of
force energy.

advanced blaster: The only power that makes the blaster
worth your while against harder bosses, is the advanced
blaster power, which magnifies your shots.

advanced lightsaber: This power makes your saber to
considerably more damage

6) The levels

This is where the game really starts. In the missions you
will fight for the Rebel Alliance, and start on your path to
becoming a Jedi Knight. Before the each level, I will give
some info on the level, and a difficulty rating from one to
twelve.

Mission One, Hoth Ice Fields
Difficulty Level: 2
Vehicles: tauntaun
enemies: probe droids, dagbats, and wampas.
force powers: advanced jump, speed, and deflection
music: Obi-Wan Kenobi theme
allies: none (except Obi-Wan, who is only there in spirit)

You start out riding your tauntaun. You should
continue across the fields, and recieve a message from Han.
Take out the probe that you encounter, and continue, until
you reach the cave entrance. Continue right in the cave,
and keep from falling through the thin ice. Stay high up in
the cave, until you reach the wall. You will reach a ledge,
or you may already be on top of if.
Jump up and dismount the tauntan, and get on the
small rock, and use it to jump up to the small entrance.
Climb up and fight the small wampas, and claim your
lightsaber. Go back and get on your tauntaun, and fall
down to the bottom of the cave. Ride the floating chunks
of ice to the left, and when you reach the wall, shoot the
hanging ice blocks, to form a sort of stairs, then dismount
your tauntaun, and jump so you can get up to the ledge the
cubes are hanging from.
Go right from there, jump the pit, to claim the
advanced jump power. When you collect it, Obi-Wan
gives you a mysterious message, to go to Dagobah. Go
back down, and mount your tauntaun. You can shoot
through the left wall, and go through a large facility,
fighting a few large wampas, to claim your speed force
power, but I don't really think it is worth it. Go back on
the floating ice, and go back to where you came down to
the frozen water. Bust through the ice blocks, to fight a
few small probes, and take the ice platforms to an island
where there is a ledge.
Jump from the ice columns, until you reach the top.
About the middle of the climb, on the left, there is a force
recharge. When you reach the top, you fight another large
wampa. To defeat it, just stand on the edge of the cliff,
where the wampa will not go, and shoot or slash it until it
goes down. Go right alont the field where the wampa
attacked. Jump up to the ledge, and you will be back in the
open.
Fight the probes, and you will recieve a message from
Han telling you to destroy the probe. Go right, and drop
down in the cave. Go down as far as you can, until you
reach a small tunnel. Go down it, or go up for some
recharges, in case you are running low on force or health.
Jump off the ledge at the end of the tunnel. Destroy the
probe, then arm your jump power.
Run at the ledge you fell down to, and jump. You will
land on an ice column. Repeat this, fighting bats and
probes, until you reach a climb. You can go down and
keep going right, for some risky jumps, and the deflection
force power or go up. I reccommend going up. Go up and
go along the ice plateu, and do a charged jump off the end.
You can fight a wampa, or you can shoot out a few of the
cubes of ice, to the farthest right the wampa will chase you.
Climb up, and go up through a tunnel again, and
prepare to fight the masterprobe. Strategy is discussed in
the next section, but this thing is not to hard to take down.
Once it goes up in smoke, continue up onto the ice fields,
and the level is automatically complete!

Mission 2, Battle of Hoth
Difficulty Level: 2
vehicles: Snowspeeder
enemies: AT-ATs, and stormtroopers
force powers: none
music: Star Wars theme
allies: none

You Start out being launched from Echo Base, past
the Sheild Generator. Accelerate right, toward the first
walker. Aim at its legs, and fire a harpoon. The walker
will go down, and repeat this on the next two walkers, until
you are out of harpoons. Then you can continue fighting
the walkers in the air, or crash your speeder, and continue
on foot.
When on foot, run underneath a walker, and hold A
and press up, and Luke will use his grappling hook and
detonator to destroy the walker. Once all the walkers are
gone, it's on to Echo Base.

Mission 3, Escape from Echo Base
Difficulty level: 4
Vehicles: AT-ST
Enemies: stormtroopers, turrets, probe droids,
masterprobes, and AT-ST's
force powers: advanced lightsaber, advanced lightsaber,
and speed
music: Princess Leia theme
allies: R2-D2

You begin the level right near artoo deeto. Walk up to
him, and he will play a message from Leia, telling you that
there are stormtroopers in the base. Continue to the right,
and climb up the ladder. Shoot the stormtroopers that you
see, from the ladder, so they can't hit you. Jump up from
the ladder, to the right, and continue that way. You will
encounter several places where there is a ladder leading
down, and another floor to jump right to, that will be
paralell to the one you are on.
Jump to the right at these floors, until you reach an
area where the only way you can go is down. Go on down
the ladder, and meet Mr. AT-ST. You can just ignore the
AT-ST, and run right, and jump up on the ledge, or take out
the AT-ST, which is a waste of time, because you cannot
use it, except on one floor. Once you are up on the ledge to
the right of the AT-ST, climb up until you reach a ladder.
Climb up and go to the left. Jump the pit of electricity or
fire (you can't tell with these graphics), and you will see
some stairs (except they're real big). Go up them, to get
the advanced lightsaber power. When you pick up that
power, Obi-Wan gives you another mysterious message
about Yoda and Dagobah (who the heck is Yoda? That
would be what Luke thinks at this point in the game).
Go back down and retrace your steps back to the start
of the level. When you are there, go to the ladder, but
don't climb it. Continue right, and follow the tunnel,
avoiding the electrified floor, until you reach a ladder. Go
down it, and Han gives you a message about an abandoned
AT-ST. You will see it, a bit to your left. Get in it with the
A button.
Go right in your AT-ST. Until you reach some
moving platforms. Go up them in the AT-ST. When you
reach the top, go right. You can't climb the ladder you
encounter in your AT-ST, so ignore it for now. Go right,
and you will reach some small spikes with wheels, that
have a spike bouncing form them. Shoot the bouncing
spike. There are three of them, and you need to destroy
them. When you do, go back to the ladder, and exit the
AT-ST with the select button. Climb the ladder, and use
the moving platforms to go right.
Once there, you see R2-D2. Leia, will give you a
message, telling you not to cross the wreckage on foot.
Climb the ladder, and go left. When you reach the end of
the tunnel, go up and right. You will come to a place
where there are blocks that you can shoot out on your left,
and an AT-ST on your right. If you go left you can get
force speed. If you do that, come back and defeat the
AT-ST. Board it, and go back to R2-D2, and cross the
wreckage. Don't worry, you're almost there.
Once you get off the wreckage, eject from the AT-ST,
and jump up on the ledge. Up farther, there are a few
power-ups, and a dead, end, so get them, and then go
down. Climb down the ladder, and take out the turret
operating stormtrooper. Get on the ladder behind him, and
go almost halfway down it, and you will see several ice
platforms. Jump on to the one nearest, and jump between
them to your left.
When you reach a ledge from the last one, you will be
in a large cavern. Go down the stairs, and get on the
ladder. Down at the bottom, will be a stormtrooper on a
turret, guarding, is that really, yes it is, the advanced blaster
force power. Get it, and go back to the ladder that you got
off in the middle. Go down, it, and take out the
stormtroopers. Climb up the next ladder you see, and make
your way to another ladder going up. Once you reach the
top of this ladder, a masterprobe will attack you.
Just go a bit down the ladder, so the probe can't grab
you, and just fire up constantly, until the probe is gone.
When you reach the top of the ladder, go left, and get the
force power, but don't step on the wreckage. Go back and
jump the ladder to the right. Jump the huge wreckage pit,
and here is the final Echo Base Boss. Just another AT-ST.
Use your advanced blaster of lightsaber, and take it down.
Then go to the right, and you did it, you beat one of the
longest levels in the whole game. It's now for Luke's
training.

Mission 4, Dagobah
Difficulty Level: 4
Vehicles: none
Enemies: dagbats, elephant slugs, underslugs, vine snakes,
small spiders, large spiders, and mantis's
force powers: none
music: star wars theme
allies: Yoda
This mission begins with Luke saying all he has to do
is find this Yoda, if he actually exists. Go to the left.
When you come to a ledge, watch for the underslugs to
pass underneath you, and then chase them. Jump them
when they turn around, and go up on the ledge to the left.
Climb up the ledges, and get to a ladder, that leads
you to a bunch of ledges, with ladders between them. Go
the last one, and go down it. If you go down the wrong
one, you will get attacked by an elephant slug. Use your
advanced weapon powers on it, or you're dead. When you
go down the last one, you will get some health, and then
you will reach a place, almost exactly like the start of the
level. Arm your jump force power, and jump the giant
spider. Jump up on the left, and run from the spider. In a
knothole near here is a vine snake, so be careful.
When you reach a ladder, climb it, and jump from it.
Climb up to the right. You will reach a swinging vine.
Grab onto it, and jump from the end. If you land on the top
of the ledge, you will have to jump a lot of under slugs, to
get up onto the ladder. If you miss the top ledge, you will
land on a cave. Climb the vine, firing up to take down the
dagbat.
When you are on the ladder, climb up it, and you will
reach some really tall trees. Climb them, and go to the
right as much as you can. When you reach a really long
limb, superjump off the end. Repeat this process, and you
will eventually reach another tree. When you get on the
first limb, you will fight a mantis. Shoot it until this dude
goes down. When He's down, climb up, and try to catch
the swinging vine. This is pretty hard.
When you make it, just do some superjumping off the
ledges you come to, and after a few jumps, you should find
the little dude, with the wisdom of eight-hundred years of
suffering, and joy.

Mission 5, Jedi Training
Difficulty Level: 7
Vehicles: none
Enemies: Same as Dagobah, except one additional enemy,
Darth Vader!
Force Powers: Heal, Levitation, Deflection, And Graphic
Eye.
Music: Star Wars Theme
Allies: Yoda

This is the first really hard level. There are three
different stages, lots of difficult enemies, the first
force-required obstacles, and Darth Vader, in the dream
encounter.
You begin standing on the forest floor. Run right, and
talk to Yoda. He will tell you to cross the swamp, and feel
the force around you. He will be standing next to swamp
water. As a floating platform floats up, jump on it. Get
ready to superjump. On the ledge that the platform goes to
are several underslugs. Jump right when they are on your
side, so they are gone by the time you land. Go right, not
up. When you reach another swamp, get ready, this one is
really hard.
Jump onto the first moving platform, and then jump to
the next. As soon as you land on the second one, arm your
superjump force power. The platform will come to a ledge
with a mantis and two or three underslugs. As soon as you
see the head of the mantis, superjump to the right. The
underslugs should be on the other side. Jump the
underslugs, and jump to the ledge above this one. Take a
breather, if you made it, you deserve it!
When you're ready, jump onto the platform a little
ways above you. The vine ladder is being guarded by a
vine snake. You can take a chance, and superjump as high
as you can, and grab the ladder, or you can shoot out the
snake, be careful, it's a tricky shot. Go up the ladder, and
cross the small cave, shooting out the small spiders. Go
down the ladder you come to, and get the health, you'll
need it.
As you continue right, the screen will turn black, and
you will start in another cave. Continue right, and you will
drop down. Get ready to jump. A big spider will attack
you. You should super jump it, and run. Make your way
to a series of vine ladders. Climb up them, and there will
be a tricky jump to a cave entrance on the right. A useful
hint for superjumping from ladders, is to arm your
lightsaber, and hold down while swinging. Luke will begin
flashing, and you can do a charged jump. This is necessary
for this part. You will come to a pit on the floor. If you
fall down it, you will face a huge spider, which you have to
take down. The prize, levitation, the most important force
power. If you choose to jump the pit, there is another
opportunity in this level for levitation.
Take the spider out with advanced blaster, and claim
your power. Use your new power to get out of the pit. To
the left of the pit are some small trees. If you get them, you
can talk to yoda, and then you can go through a small
complex of enclosed caves with underslugs, to get heal
force power. This power is a rip off, and you do not get a
better ending for having all power, I checked, so it's up to
you if you want to get it.
Go back to the pit, and cross it. You should reach a
point where the screen turns black, just as before. You will
have to get through some mushroom complexes, and do
some fancy jumps, and you will reach Yoda. He will tell
you something like the force can overcome any obstacle.
Go right, and prepare to meet the dark lord Darth Vader!
He has deflection and the lightsaber moves, but he will not
levitate or throw any stuff at you, like in Cloud City.
Remember, this is just a dream, for Luke, but it of course is
necessary to complete the game.
You can take down Vader right there, but I would not
reccommend it. Do as much damage with your advanced
lightsaber, and then fall down the pit to the left of Yoda.
Down there are a few enemies, one giant spider, and three
Jedi powers. However, only one is new, if you have gotten
all powers.
Yoda will tell you that the force can overcome any
obstacle, and he's right. You have to use the force to get
back to Vader. If you lose force power, you'll have to
commit suicide. Go down and jump to the right. In a cave
high up on the right there is the deflection force power in
its second appearance, guarded by two or three small
spiders. Drop down, and go down the ladder, and go left,
to get the levitation force power, guarded by dagbats. Then
go right, but don't go into the final room in the right.
Levitate up to the ceiling, and enter the room. If you
didn't, a giant spider will kill you. Go up to the small
platfrom near the ceiling of the large cavern. Here is the
seeing beyond power. Get on the ladder, and start to go
down. Go down until you see the spider directly below
you. Fire down constantly, until you take it down.
Now go back up to the place where you fell down
after seeing Darth Vader. Levitate up, and drop down on
Darth Vader's right. Fight him and take him down with the
advanced lightsaber. When he goes down, he will only
give you a small heart. Go right, and jump any pits you
come to. You will soon get a message from Leia through
the force, like in the movie. "Luke, help us!" Is all she
says. You are pretty much done. You will have to fight
some small spiders. When you go far enough, you will see
Yoda up on a ledge. Descend the stairs to him, and talk to
him. He will tell you that you have learned much. He will
then tell you to rescue your friends on Cloud City, but
beware the dark side of the force, fore you are not a jedi
yet.

Mission 6, Bespin
Difficulty Level: 1
Vehicles: X-wing
enemies: cloud cars and TIE fighters
force powers: none
music: Star Wars theme
allies: none

I guess the programmers decided that you deserved a
break after your Jedi training, so they gave you this level.
It is the easiest level in the whole game. All you do is fight
cloud cars and TIE fighters over Bespin. Once you destroy
ten of each, you are to Cloud City, one of the hardest
levels.

Mission 7, Cloud City
Difficulty Level: 10
Vehicles: AT-ST
enemies: Bespin guards, probe droids, stormtroopers,
stormtrooper turrets, AT-ST's, and Boba Fett.
force powers: none
music: Darth Vader theme, or Imperial march
allies: Lando Calrissian and Artoo-Deeto

This is a big change from the forests of Dagobah.
Welcome to metal hell! This is your introduction to the
instantly lethal obstacle. There are two here. The molten
floor, the easier one, and then there is the laser beam.
The level starts on the docking bay of Cloud City.
Run right, and fight two probes. Takes you back to the ice
feilds, doesn't it? Keep going, and you will come to the
molten floor. You will recognize it, don't worry. Jump it,
and run across the conveyer belt. Lando is standing on the
end. Talk to him, and he will tell you that artoo will
deactivate the laser beams for a short time, and he means
short.
Climb the ladder behind Lando. You will now see the
laser beams of death. Watch artoo as he makes his way
through them. The split-second that he is in the laser
beam's field it will be inactive. You will have to run
through with him. Don't worry, it takes lots of practice,
and this is the only level in which you will have to do this.
Go right, and you will have to go through about five laser
beams.
There will be a stormtrooper at the end of the beams.
Take them down, and run right. Fall down, and Leia will
tell you, through the force that bounty hunters are
everywhere, and she is dang right. Go right through the
lasers, and meet Dr. Bad, the bounty hunter. Stand next to
the beams, but don't feel like you need to get too close.
Shoot right, and Dr. Bad will roll at you, and fire several
shots in the other direction. Kinda stupid. Reminds you of
the stormtroopers in Star Wars the original for game boy
and game gear.
Just keep shooting right, and he will eventually go
down, without causing you any damage. When he goes
down, he will give you a health/force powerup, which is
new, and is one of the few good things that comes with
being in the master levels.
Climb up the ladder you come to on the right after the
bounty hunter. Go through some laser beams, and meet a
Bespin Guard. These dudes are well trained, and wearing
full body armor. Make sure to do a superjump over him,
and then you can run, or take him down from the conveyer
belt. I'd recommend taking him down. The deflection
force power is great on these dudes.
You will have to repeat this as you make your way
right. The one thing about Besping guards, at least in this
level, is they won't go on conveyer belts. After the guards
are down, you will come to a ledge. Jump from it, and you
will land behind a stormtrooper turret. Take him out, and
drop down between the two ledges. You can go left for
some power-ups, and then drop down betseen the platforms
you're on.
You want to drop down on the farthest right of middle
hole, but not the left. Drop down on the left, and climb the
ladder. You will probably be able to go over the laser
beams, and if you can't jump all of them, levitate. Once
you're past them, you can fight an AT-ST. Take it out, but
the most crucial thing, is that you save lots of force power,
but you can take lots of health damage, because before
Boba Fett, there is health, but not force.
Get in the AT-ST, and go back to where you met the
Bespin guard. The AT-ST can go right through the laser
beams without taking any damage. The moving platforms
will help you, because the walker can not jump too high.
Go all the way back to where you met the bounty hunter.
Instead of trying to go up, go left, through the beams that
Artoo-Deeto would not deactivate. Keep going left. You
can soon drop down. Some troopers attack you. Shoot
them, and run right through the beams.
You will eventually come to a conveyer at the end of
the beams, with a health on it. Make sure to jump it on the
AT-ST. If you pick it up, you can still probably beat Boba
Fett. Drop down and take down the two guards. Then
eject the AT-ST. Go back up to the conveyer belt, levitate
if necessary, and get the health. But make sure you have
some force power. Go back down to where you fought the
guards, and there is a ladder. Climb it, and go across some
conveyer belts, jump a molten floor.
Strategy for taking him down is in villian strategy.
Once he's down, it's on to the X-wing.

Mission 8, Pursuit of Boba Fett
Difficulty Level: 2
Vehicles: X-wing
enemies: Boba Fett's Slave 1
force power: none
music: Star Wars theme
allies: none

This level is pretty easy. It is in the same setting as
the Bespin level. Look for Boba Fett, and when you find
him, get behind him. Pull up so you are paralell with the
cockpit of his ship. Just keep shooting. The bottom of his
ship will launch mines, but they don't lock on. You will go
faster than him, so you will have to double back some, but
he is pretty easy to take out.

Mission 9, Return to Cloud City
Difficulty Level: 6
vehicles: none
enemies: Bespin guards and Bounty Hunters.
force powers: levitation
allies: Princess Leia

This level is a bit of a break from Cloud City. It is not
nearly as hard, even though every enemy has a
screen-presented health meter. The good thing is there
aren't many enemies. The weirdest thing, is that this, and
the first level, are the only levels that I've never gotten a
game over on.
You start on a docking platform, much like the one in
the first cloud city. Go right, and drop down a bit. Go
right, and you will have to jump a molten pit and fight a
stormtrooper in a turret. When you reach the right wall,
levitate up. Go to the left once you're up, and two bespin
guards will come at you from your right. Use the ledge
you're on as a sniper post.
Once the guards are down, go right, and drop down on
the last chance you get. If you go down the first pit, you
will have to fight a bounty hunter, for a health pack. Go
down, and you will come to a place where you drop down,
onto a conveyer belt, and if you advance, you will be
mobbed by two guards. Take them down with your
advanced blaster. Climb the ladder behind them, and get
some power-ups.
Go back down, and go right. You notice you are
going down the whole time. This is for a reason. The
carbon facility is deep within cloud city, where Vader
waits. You will drop down onto another platform, and
fight an AT-ST. You are almost there. Go left after taking
out the AT-ST, and Obi-Wan will tell you to use the force.
Jump the molten pit, and go across the conveyer belt. A
guard will attack you. You can either jump him and run, or
go double back right, and cross the pit. He won't cross it,
and you can shoot him across it.
Go back and cross the conveyer belt. There will be
some more Bespin Guards, but you can levitate over them.
You will have to drop down, and then go left, levitating
over some laser beams. After the last one, a bounty hunter
will come after you. He will push you into the laser beams,
so don't hang around to fight him. Levitate up to the
ceiling, and go left. When you reach a platform, get on it.
Go left, and you can look up and see Leia. Jump up to her.
If you miss the jump, you will die, and start the level over.
Now for the most fateful battle in all the Star Wars
movies, Darth Vader!

Mission 10, Darth Vader
Difficulty Level: 12
vehicles: none
enemies: stormtroopers, ugnaughts, and Darth Vader
force powers: none
allies: none
music: Darth Vader theme

You are finally to the battle of destiny and fear that
Luke must survive to complete his journey to become a
Jedi. Luke's friends are safe, but now Luke must go alone
to fight his own personal enemy, and the fear inside him,
the dark lord Darth Vader.
You start on a pile of crates. Run to the right, because
ugnaughts are coming from behind. You can now see a
new obstacle, the spikes. Unlike in Star Wars, the original,
they kill on contact. Jump up to the pulley that's going up
and down. Jump right from it, run and drop down. Get the
force power-up up on your right. You will land on a thing
that looks like a lightning rod. Run left on it, and go down
the ladder you come to. The first platform on your left, get
on it and go left.
Now it's time to meet yo daddy! He comes at you
swingin' with his long black lightsaber. Arm your
advanced lightsaber, and swing it at him. There is no
health meter or boss music, how strange! Jump to the
ladder, which he will push you onto, go down a bit, and
slash at him from there. He will go down with this wierd
ecliptical explosion, and then he will say those famous
lines: "Impressive." Now get the health/force that he gives
you.
Go left, and go past the first ledge. Go to the left wall,
and there will be a platform a ways up. Levitate up, and go
up to the ladder. Go to a platform with a pole coming out
of it. Levitate from there onto the platform on your left.
Darth Vader comes at you from the left. Use your
advanced saber, and do as much damage as possible. He
will probably push you off. When you fall, levitate right on
up, and use your advanced saber. When he's down, go left,
and climb the pylons, up to a ledge with full force and
health power. Go back down to the ledge where Vader
was, and Levitate up, and to the left.
Get on the ledge, and you will probably have to fight
some stormtroopers. Go left, and get on the huge metal
columns. Drop down a few levels, and the Real Slim
Shady will levitate on up. Then he'll put that lightsaber
with both hands up, and be proud to be out of his mind and
in control, and one more time loud as you can, how does it
go? Sorry! I got sidetracked. Slim Shady is not who you
are really fighting. This is where Vader uses his second to
last Jedi power. He will levitate. He will go up and down,
and swing. Only two hits will take him out.
Go left along the columns, and levitate when
necessary. This is the hardest part of the level. You will
have to go through the entire Bespin Carbon Freezing
Facility, which is huge, dark, guarded by stormtroopers and
ugnaughts, and the floor is spiked, so you will have to stay
on the catwalks. On the left wall, go up, and then go left
along about five or six catwalks. The first and second have
ugnaughts, the third has stormtroopers, then you will have
to go up a bit. Remember the swinging vines on Dagobah,
Well you have to use those in this level. They will connect
the catwalks. If you miss one, then just levitate.
After the last catwalk, you will land on one of those
rods like at the start of the level. Go left, and go down the
ladder. Arm your lightsaber, about half-way down, and
swing it while climbinb down. This will charge your jump.
Jump left, and you will land in a dark metallic cave. You
will come to a pit. You can levitate up to get some
powerups, which are guarded by stormtroopers, or just drop
down. Then go down through some levels with power-ups,
and fight some stormtroopers. Go right, and Yoda will tell
you to use the force. He's dang right.
Levitate up, through the vertical cave. The exit is on
the right, after a little while. You can keep levitating, and
go left, and shoot the stormtroopers. On the left is an item
which is not pictured in the manual. It is the supposedly
non-existant extra continue. It looks like little luke inside a
box. Go back down to the exit from the vertical chamber.
Go left, and climb every ladder you come to. After
two ladders, Do an advanced jump from the ledge you are
on. Darth boy will be coming up behind you. You can
outrun this dude easy. You will now come to the Cloud
City ventilation catwalk, the final part of the movie. Stand
on the catwalk, but Vader will not follow. He will stay
inside the cave. Stand on the catwalk and swing at him.
You can take him down without taking any damage at all.
If you are suicidal, and want to see something really
cool, don't take down Vader in the cave. People that do
not have a strong will to die, DO NOT TRY THIS. Leave
Vader, and go right. Vader will be waiting for you. In his
final stage, he will follow you back into the cave. If you
left the fourth Vader, they will both attack you from either
sides. Two Vaders. That's enough to make Goldberg sleep
with a night-light. I have never done this and survived.
If you want to live and get out of here, take out Vader,
and go left along the fateful catwalk. Jump the missing
sections. On the third part of the catwalk, you can see the
weather antennae where Luke lost his hand in the movie.
Some junk will come flying at you through the air. Duck
under it. It should be only two peices, and get read to take
down the Dark Lord. Now you will hear the boss music,
and see a health meter. If you read the next section, I will
tell you the strategy for taking down this final villian, and
completing the game.
When Vader's out, the level is automatically
complete. I won't ruin the ending for anyone who wants to
earn it on their own, but I will tell you a bit. When Vader
is down to one health, Luke freezes in place, and the music
continues. It keeps Luke in the exact lightsaber stance he
was in, and Darth Vader throws his lightsaber skyward, and
jumps. He falls right down off the screen, and the game is
complete. Great job, for anyone who gets this. If you
have, you can say you've beaten one of the, if not the
hardest game ever made. If you want to hear the entire
ending, I'm talking word for word, e-mail me at
jjmm@mindspring.com .

7) Supervillian strategy
A) the villians

The three dudes I would consider really worthy
supervillians in this game, are the masterprobe, Boba Fett,
and of course, Darth Vader. I have arranged the strategy
from the easiest villian to the most difficult.

1) Masterprobe
In your ice cave encounter with the masterprobe, you
have to move around some to take him out. I like to arm
my lightsaber, and run to the right wall. Wait for him to
swoop down, and stand right where you're just out of range
of his legs when he dives. From there just swing whenever
he dives. If he fires at you just jump the shots. That's
pretty much it.

2) Boba Fett
This dude is also pretty easy, but getting to him's the
trick. Once you reach him and hear the boss music, arm
your advanced blaster. Don't drop down into the pit where
he drops detonators. Just shoot him when he flies by, and
after about three passes, he's down. Suprisingly easy,
wasn't it.

3) Darth Vader
Here's the villian that more than makes up for all the
weaknesses of the villians you've fought. When you go
along the catwalk, jump the missing sections, and on the
third section of the catwalk. Duck under the pieces of
metal that he throws at you with the force. Here he uses all
his Jedi powers. Levitation, over the missing sections of
the catwalk. He deflects any blaster shots you fire, and the
one you can't get, force throw. After you duck the junk,
get ready to meet the dark lord himself. You will hear the
boss intro, and see his health, as he walks onto the screen.
Don't just stand there gawking, use the force.
There are two methods. Each of which works pretty
well. In the middle of his catwalk secion, there are three
columns. You can stand on one and take swings at him
from there. The other method, which is probably easier, is
to arm your advanced saber, and just run along the catwalk
hitting him. If he pushes you off the catwalk, don't think
the falcon is going to pick you up like in the movie. I've
explored every inch of this final arena. The only way out is
to take down this dude. As you're falling levitate back up,
and keep causing him damage. Once he's down to one
health he jumps, and the game is over. Congradulations,
young Jedi Knight!
