Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ The past is better forgotten ❯ The past comes back ( Chapter 15 )
******************************************** ***************************************
Bulma wiped a tear from her eye but it was immediately replaced by another. No matter how hard she tried they refused to stop. As if her eyes were nothing more than flowing waterfalls.
She had spent the last hour just crying. It was laughable, no matter how heartless she had become she couldn't give up some thing as small as a baby. She despised weakness, and yet here she was feeling weaker than she ever had in her entire life.
If only Freeza could see her now, his little loyal pet going into emotional break down. He would probably snarl and tell her crying was weak. Crying was what desperate people did as they begged for their lives.
Her whole life she vowed she would never have children. She had spent so long despising infants and babies. Always looking down a pone people who were parents. But now she was going to be one. She would have to raise a child from the moment it was born. Deal with it's crying and weaknesses. Watch it grow up and become stronger by the day.
How would Vegeta feel at the news he was going to be a father. He'd probably love it. After all wouldn't he want a son he could train into becoming a Super Saiyan. He looked like the sort of person who wouldn't mind becoming a father.
She pulled her pillow close to her and cried into it. She wanted him here, she wanted him to comfort her. How dare he go away, he was the one who knocked her up in the first place. She felt anger at Vegeta, but no matter how angry she felt it couldn't out weigh the longing she felt for him.
But then she had to remind herself. There was Freeza, the bastard would kill her for the very fact she had slept with Vegeta. If he ever found out she was pregnant with his child, he'd kill her and her unborn baby.
She could never hide who the father was because Brolly would know. Her pregnancy alone would give him the evidence to have her killed. No matter how many years of loyal service she had show Freeza that wouldn't stop him from killing her in blind rage.
She placed her hand on her stomach. The simple answer that could save her life was to simply get rid of it. Have the abortion and no one would know. Rioko wouldn't dare tell a soul if she was asked. But that was what made her cry. She simply couldn't do it. She couldn't get rid of the life that was growing inside of her. Just the idea of killing it made her sick. It was theirs, it belonged to her and Vegeta. She wanted to see it get born, she wanted to watch it grow up. She could never bring herself to have it killed.
Another tear ran down her face. If only she could tell Vegeta, if only he wouldn't be gone so long. By the time he came back she would already be dead. It would be hard to hide the fact she was pregnant for so long.
There was only one answer left. Only one way to save the life of her and her child. It would be risking everything, but she had to escape.
The shadows of the hanger bay loomed in front of her. She shivered. The hanger bay was one of the coldest places in the palace. Not to mention that at night it was even colder. Luckily the mechanics and engineers had nothing to do so they had all gone back to their rooms. But even though the place was deadly quiet she still tried to keep as silent as possible.
A small tear ran down her face, if this didn't work out it could mean the end of her. But the life she was more afraid for was the life of her child. If she could run and stay hidden for only a few years it would give her enough time for the child to grow old enough to fend for themselves. If they were born as strong as their father they could somehow survive in this world if Freeza ever found her.
What hurt her was the fact Vegeta would never know what happened to her. She would be here then some place else. She could never risk telling a destination to anyone. She wiped the tear away. If only he was back in time to go with her. Then they could have run away together, gone some place really nice. A place without snow and ice. Away from Freeza.
She crept along the wall staying to the shadows. Never before would she have ever thought she'd need stealth. Bulma had always assumed that your brains alone could get you through life. And maybe if she had used them in the first place and stayed away from Vegeta she would have never have been in this situation. She would have just been living out an average life. Work for Freeza, die. It could have been so simple.
Her pace quickened as the space pods drew nearer. Thank god that no one was around. She allowed herself to be seen out in the open as she approached one.
"Bulma what are you doing here."
At those very words she felt herself freeze. It was all over she had been caught. Because of her fear she had no excuse to get herself out of trouble. She turned slowly around to see Zarbon. He looked at her with confusion. Another tear ran down her face as she refused to make eye contact.
Zarbon could see her tears in the moon light. Never before had he seen her so upset. From the very moment he had met Bulma she had always been a lively person. Even when he had taken her away she hadn't cried a tear. Over the years he had grown fond and protective of her. It hurt to see her cry.
Bulma looked down at her feet, despite all attempts her crying refused to stop. "Zarbon I'm sorry, but I have to get out of here," she sobbed softly.
He felt a pang of guilt. It was all his fault, he was responsible for all her unhappiness. He had taken away a innocent young girl from her home planet and turned her into a heartless young woman. He had changed her, morphed her, if he had left her she could have been so much more. She would have been happier with friends and family. Why couldn't he have seen that all those long years ago. Back then all he could see in her was a new recruit for Freeza. He was wrong.
He narrowed his eyes, there was only one thing he could do to clear his sudden guilt. "You really want to leave huh," he said.
She sobbed, there was no hope of escape now. "Look I'll go back to my room, but please don't tell Freeza."
He sighed. "I don't intend to."
Bulma looked up at him, surprised at his words. She had assumed that he would have reported her straight to his master immediately "What?"
He sighed. "Wipe your face there's no need for tears," he walked over to one of the pods and began locking in some coordinates.
She wiped her face and came up behind him. "Your not going to tell Freeza?"
He shook his head. "No I won't," he moved away from the pod. "With these coordinates the pod will take you back home, a place I shouldn't have really taken you away from."
Bulma looked at him confused. "But you said-"
He cut her off. "I lied."
If Bulma wasn't going into emotional breakdown she would have been angry at Zarbon for lying. After all he had told her so much untrue stuff about her home. But instead she simply hopped in and flicked the engine on. A wave of tears flowed from her eyes as the pod took off and made it's way away from ice-sei. Like she had always wished she was finally leaving the ice land.
She looked back at the dark planet one last time and preyed she'd never see the hell hole again.
Her entire life felt like a lie. For as long as she could remember she had been told how poor and deprived her home planet was. Zarbon had always continuously told her how she should be grateful for him saving her from becoming a beggar. If he were here that very moment she'd spit in his face.
She watched the people and cars move around her. The planet was thriving with life, how could anyone dare to call it poor. She closed her eyes and inhaled the fresh air. Bulma knew she belonged here, not on some planet owned by Freeza, here, and here only.
The surroundings seemed familiar. She could faintly remember the ground and the sky. Now that she was here a lot of things came flooding back. She could remember living in a big house with her parents. Her father had always called her smart and a genius. Both of them had always loved her, it was the only love she had experienced in her life. She didn't know how she could have ever forgotten those important memories.
But then again Zarbon had always told her to forget. He had always urged her to concentrate on other things. He kept things that would help her remember away. Making sure that she stoped looking up planets on the records.
She smiled, for once in her life she actually felt happy. Happy to have no one controlling her, she could be herself. And most of all she could do what ever she damn well wanted. All those years she had thought she was happy with Freeza, that her life wasn't bad. Now that she had tasted freedom she could now see that working for Freeza had been crap.
She looked across the street and noticed a clothes shop. She had only been on Earth for a few days so her wardrobe was very limited. It almost made her miss all the clothes she had owned back on ice-sei.
As she stepped out onto the road a car came straight towards her. She froze unable to jump away, preying it would stop. The driver didn't hit the brake till it was too late. She felt herself roll off the bonnet and hit the ground. People gathered around her, all looking to see if she was all right. But she could hear their voices fading as everything around her went black.
~*~*~End Flashback~*~*(A/N FINALLY)
Bulma looked to the person in front of her and gritted her teeth in rage, nothing could out weigh her hate for this one individual. It had happened in a second, she had gone from utter innocence to corruption in a flash. All her memories were back, Vegeta, Ice-sei, and most of all Freeza.
Freeza approached her, smirk planted on his face like always. "Bulma, Bulma, Bulma, did you really think you could escape me?"
Her deep blue eyes burned with utter hate. "Fuck you Freeza!"
Freeza looked as if he was expecting those very words. He had been waiting for this very moment for a long time. "Now Bulma my dear watch your tongue."
"I can say what ever I fucking want to!" she was no longer the sweet little Bulma Briefs she was for eight years. She was different.
Freeza looked over to Trunks. He narrowed his eyes. "Now who do we have here."
Her pupils widened "Stay away from him," she hissed.
The soldier looked down at her son. "He called Miss Briefs mother."
Freeza looked down at the young boys face, noticing the likeness to his father. It was impossible to miss, the resemblance was uncanny. "Vegeta," he hissed. He raised his fist and hit Bulma to the ground bruising the side of her face. He didn't hit her hard, just enough for it to hurt.
He turned and made his way back towards the ship. She could tell he was holding back to kill her. "I'll deal with you later," he snarled.
The soldier forcefully picked her up and began carrying her to his ship. She kicked and screamed with all her might but it have absolutely no affect on the man. It was as if he was made out of solid steel. She yelled out to Freeza up ahead. "Freeza you bastard, I swear one day you'll pay!"
Freeza turned and smirked. "I doubt it." he turned back. "I'll punish you later."
As she was dragged into the ship she turned and took one last look at her home. She felt sorry for her poor parents, they were going to loose her yet again. Not only their daughter but their grandchild as well. Bulma preyed that no matter the cost she'd somehow find away home again.
As expected she and her son were taken down to the dungeon of the ship. They showed no care as they were both thrown forcefully into a cell. The door slammed shut behind her.
Bulma rushed over to her son and ran her fingers through his hair. A tear ran down her face. The poor kid didn't deserve this, it was all her fault. He deserved to be free on Earth. To have a life and future. Not to suffer because of her actions.
She looked at his face and sighed. He looked so much like his father, he was exactly in his image except for the eyes and hair. To add to that they had similar personalties, even if he had never met his father he had a lot of Vegeta's mannerisms.
It wondered her how she ever manage to survive all those long years. If she had suffered from him being away for a fortnight, then it was a sheer miracle that she hadn't gone completely insane.
She bit her lower lip, even if her head had forgotten him deep down her heart hadn't. Every time she had gone on a date back home she had always left early. Every single time she had apologised to her date and said it just didn't feel right. All those long years she felt as if she could never love another man. No matter how nice and sweet they were she could never feel anything for them. Maybe it was because her heart was already taken.
She got up and leaned against the far wall. Another tear ran down her face. Vegeta must have suffered so much. It was as if she had completely abandoned him. Just left without a trace. And then when he finally came to see her she couldn't even remember him. It was as if he was rejected yet again.
Bulma began to bite her nails. Well at least she'd be able to see him again. Trunks would at long last meet his father he never knew about.
She collapsed to the floor and buried her face in her hands. Life was just so cruel, she had been so happy on Earth without a care in the world. Now the past had at long last come back to haunt her. "God Vegeta I'm sorry," she sobbed.

(Cue party music)
Yay at long last the flashbacks are over, I was getting sick of writing them. I wrote them once (the first draft was crap) and then I wrote them again. (the second draft was better)
So at long last Bulma shall be returning to Ice-sei. Don't abuse me if it takes me longer to update from now on. I'm trying to improve the quality of my chapters but that takes time. That and I also started devoting most of my attention to painting.(I paint anime guys)
