Haunted

The morning light shone brilliantly through the black curtains. Goten opened his eyes and squinted them as he sensitive retinas collided with the sun's rays. He looked on the night stand and smiled to him self briefly. A red rose was placed by the phone. He hadn't felt the power of love in so long. In a way he was grateful for life treating him the way it did. If he was living the life of luxury, the freshness of love it self would have rotted away a long time ago.

Trunks had left for work earlier that morning. All of his life he'd had to fend for himself. He was independent. But one can only stand on one's own two feet for so long until they need a support system to fall back on with out any fears or doubts of rejection of not being there anymore.

It was 10:00 AM. Goten climbed out of bed. Only lazy house wives sit in bed all day and spend their husbands' money. Denying his renewed infatuation for Trunks would be an understatement.

Truth be told, there was always a warm ash left after Trunks himself douse the fire that Goten lit for him years ago. He went into his bag and pulled out some clothes to put on. His nakedness made him shiver as he thought of Trunks sweating and growling above him last night.

He walked into the kitchen and saw the red light from the answer machine blinking frequently. He slipped onto the sofa and pressed the silver button. The loud automated voice sounded off.

He heard a voice he thought he'd never hear in his life. The man that left him and didn't even say good bye. One of the reasons why his life turned out to be the living hell it was today.

“Hey, Trunks I heard Goten was staying at your house for the reunion. If you get the chance could you just tell him I'm sorry and his big brother still loves him” Hot tears started to stream uncontrollably down Goten's face as he thought of the memories they shared and the thought of them being snatched away. It was a slap in the face.

That made two reasons why he didn't want to attend this dreaded reunion. It felt like a giant train was headed his way, charging and ready to blow him to pieces.

Not to mention the fact that Bra had it in for him. It was confusing because he'd never saw the girl before. It was scary because at any given moment she could just grab her morals if any, throw them out he window and yell out `My brother's fucking a hooker'. Staying home and hiding in the closet seemed more appealing.

Goten wiped his face and went to the kitchen to see a large envelope containing a two large invitations.

You're invited to the Z senshi reunion.

The event will not be formal

Were welcoming back the one and only Son Goku
Goten was about two seconds from preparing a space for himself in the closet. He felt like burning his invitation and saying didn't know he was invited. That would have had better effects. It seemed as if fate was still playing filthy tricks with his life.

Goten could just remember the last reunion they'd had before Trunks left. It was day before Trunks gave him his mark on his neck. Everyone was gathered around him laughing at his jokes that he made that made him only look like more of a fool than he had already presented himself to be. Gohan and Chichi sat at his side. They made the perfect family. Then it happened. Goten was born. He always felt like the part of the family that never existed. He always wallowed in his brother's shadows. There would be times when Goku would mention his family and the name `Goten' never appeared in his sentence.

It was always like that. In a way it was a lost cause, staying in that house. Hell was at home when they would forget to call him down for dinner. And hell was out side the house. Sucking off old men for his next meal and living with PA who was willing to kick him out in a heartbeat. The current seemed to calm only to be awaited to strike again.

Trunks was the only one who would really acknowledge him. This was one of the reasons he was so bent up over him leaving.

Black all he could see as he thought of seeing the looks on the faces of the family who'd both forgotten him and left him behind.

Flashback

Goku had just arrived back from the other world.

Everyone was round greeting him

He'd already seen Goten once or twice

Goten was still very small and tried to weave his way through the crowd of people

He arrived before his father

“Hi Daddy”

Goku didn't even look down

Goten began to pull at his father's leg

He was pushed aside and left in the corner of the room where he was not seen

He was congratulating Gohan constantly on his fight with Cell

Goten had the stinging urge to be strong enough to beat a big monster like Cell

If that's what it took to gain his father's attention

Tien walked up to Goku and placed a hand on his shoulder

“What about hat other son of yours”

“What other son?”

The three eyed man pointed to the crying little boy in the corner

Goku looked at him with unfamiliar eyes

“That's my son?”

He said to himself and turned back around to the older Son

Tien looked at the little boy crawling behind the sofa with sympathetic eyes

Goten wiped the tears from his eyes as he went to the refrigerator to find some breakfast. Maybe some substance would take his mind off of the hell this reunion would most likely turn out to be.

Across town in Trunks' office Trunks was on the phone with the European CC. They needed to trade some merchandise that the Asian CC mixed up. The perverse accountant was in front of him waiting for hi to get off the phone. He was tapping his foot impatiently on the floor. He was waiting to squeeze a certain set of details out of his boss. He was off for two days and didn't call in to at least make up a pathetic excuse. Something was evidently amiss. Something big. There was one thing that could make him miss two days.

“Ok, the merchandise will be at the ort tomorrow”, Trunk placed the phone back on the receiver. He looked up to see his blonde haired accountant staring him right in the face.

“What do you want”, Trunks looked at him as if he'd saw a cat being fried.

“Who?”

“Who what?”

“Who is he?”

“You've been gone for two days and haven't called in to make your usual excuse. Something's or someone's involved”

“I had to handle some business and didn't have the chance to call”

“Really”

“Yes”

“……”

“……”

“You are such a liar”

“Ok, fine. You remember that hooker. I picked up last Friday?”

“Yeah”

“He's the one”

“So that's what Goten looks like. Why didn't you find him earlier?” Ricky said with a sly smile.

“So, did you fuck him?”

“Like I'm going to tell you”

“Tell me or I'll tell everyone about the time you were on bottom”

“That's blackmail I could fire you”

“Your mom has that power not you. You're stuck with me”

“Yes I did”

“Was he any good?”

“Tight but good”

“Maybe you could bring him over to my place and we cou-“

“No”

“Fuck”

“What did I just say?”

On the way home Trunks found himself speeding. He hadn't had the urge to go home in a while. Maybe it was because he had Goten there to keep him company. He was the only one he would usually stay at his house and actually want him there. He could almost picture him sitting on the sofa laughing at the Jerry Springer Show.

The lights of the city reflected brilliantly off the dashboard of the car. He could remember the times when he used see Goten hiding in the corner when his dad would ever come back to earth. It broke his heart into pieces to see how father could just forget his own flesh and blood as if he'd not even existed. His father was even a little rough around the edges but they still acknowledged and respected each other for who they were and weren't. Having not the sanctity of a father son relation ship was painful.

His mother was the only one who ever paid much attention to him. When Goten used to come into her room crying because his father forgot his name again, she'd always tell him to just deal with his father's ways. Now Trunks was being held responsible for healing the pain he had no caused. Goku was not getting off scotch free this time. For once in his fine and dandy life he would have to pay his debts to his son that he never knew.

As he pulled in to the parking garage he saw a man prosing on the sidewalk. It was a large ring and the woman he was proposing to looked as if she were about to faint. Most would faint not because of the joy of love itself but yet the size of the ring. H pulled into his parking space and walked in and up stairs.

As he was unlocking to the doors he heard a loud laughing and a TV on. He walked in to see Goten looking at a divorce court.

“Hey Trunks-kun he said coyly as he lifted from the sofa. Trunks pulled him into a deep kiss.

When they broke apart a devilish smirk appeared across his face. Goten read it loud and clear.

“Not tonight. I have a lot on my mind”. He turned off the TV and walked solemnly to the room. Trunks followed him close behind. He watched in wonder as he slipped out of his clothes and into bed. Trunk went into the bathroom and came out stark naked and slipped into bed behind Goten. Their closeness was arousing to him and his member began to awaken. Goten finally gave in and let Trunks have what he'd obviously been waiting for.

As Trunk slipped on the protection he saw the sad and wistful look in his partner's chocolate eyes.

“Chibi, what's wrong?” He lowered himself and placed Goten on his chest.

“The reunion is tomorrow and I have to go up there with all of this on my brain

Goten sighed wistfully and buried himself into Trunks' arms and soon fell asleep.

Their warmness lulled Trunks to sleep as the dark of the nigh and the light of the moon clasped their bodies.

Trunks woke Goten up that morning to get ready.

Today was the big day. Time was a t a limit and Goten's better judgment was at stake.

The day's light shone in once again. Goten woke up to see Trunks in the bathroom in his boxers brushing his teeth. There was feeling in his stomach that felt like linebacker gutting him with all his might. He ran into the bathroom almost knocking over Trunks and purged heavily.

Trunks rubbed his back softly. “I'm not going. I can't “, He said flatly.

“You have to face them sooner or later”, Trunks lifted his from his dead looking position on the floor and brought him to face level. “You're going to that reunion and you're going to be the most radiant person there, understand?” He nodded with a puppy dog look in his eyes.

It was1:00 and the party started in one hour. Goten decided t go as he was and not wear a cover-up. The family would have to see exactly what they'd done to him and it would thwart their family of three celebration like they had done leaving Goten out of the picture so many time before.

He wore his usual “work clothes”. Knee high, steel toe boots, Short shorts that came up to the bottom of his rear and a tight long sleeve shirt. He had on dark eyes liner and his hair hung down in the front and the rest was tied back with red dye tips.

“What are you wearing?” Trunks asked trying his hardest not to stare as hard as he did the first night they'd reunited.

“I'm going as me. Goten Son. And if they don't like it they can kiss my ass”, Goten pronounced proudly as he pulled down his shirt to cover his private areas.

The way that Goten acted was completely different from the way he'd been puking his guts out earlier that morning. Trunks smirked to himself. `What would he do without me?' Goten was pulling some stuff out of his hair while Trunks called his mother to confirm that they were on their way. Walking down the hall to the car he felt like he was on death row. There were really no promises that he would come back alive, sanity-wise.

In the car Goten let his head hang to the side of the seat. Trunks saw his chibi's despair and placed his large hand on Goten's leg.

“I'll be there with you the entire time Go-chan”, Goten turned and kissed Trunks on the cheek making him blush profusely.

As Trunks pulled up in the CC drive way. Goten began to shiver and his hands shook nervously.

The memories that happened in that one house rushed through his mind at one time.

Gohan left and didn't come back. He was everything that Goten wanted to turn out to be. He looked up to Gohan and he left. It felt like he'd been hit by a car. The only difference is that you can see a car coming at you. What he did was blind, unbridled and unexpected.

Chichi had drunken her self into an alcoholic. After Goku left she had no one to take her frustrations out on but Goten. She was the portion of pain that pushed him over the edge to moving out. She beat him down as well as hi confidence.

Goku barely remembered his own son's name. He was pushed in the shadows of his older brother. Goku both neglected him and refused to believe that he existed. There was a one sided relationship and the other side didn't exist.

Goten walk for worth to he door where he heard the same voices that haunted him years ago . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
