Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Times of Our Lives ❯ The Watcher Revealed ( Chapter 2 )
"Who are you, and what are you doing here?" Gohan looked up quickly. He had no idea that someone else was there. The reason he came here is because he wanted to be alone, undisturbed. He looked up. Why must someone else be here, he asked himself.
A girl about his age ducked through the trees. She was dressed in a t-shirt and a knee-length black skirt. Her black hair hung to about her shoulder blades, and she had bright blue eyes, matching the flowers on her t-shirt. She crossed her arms, glaring at him. "Well?"
Gohan looked at her. "That was rude."
She had enough humility to blush. "Sorry. But you never did answer my question."
Gohan stared at her, and jumped off the swing. He started gathering up his stuff. He came here to be alone, and there was no point being here with this girl. Not to mention he needed his quiet time. He realised right after he defeated Cell that if he didn't have his quiet time, his Saiya-jin side showed through a lot more, and that was something he preferred not to happen.
"You never told me what your name was." The girl looked quite annoyed now. She wasn't used to getting ignored, and she didn't like it one bit.
Gohan decided that he'd have to bend a little bit. "Gohan." He gathered his jacket, he didn't need it, and he had no idea why his mother made him take it with.
"Gohan?" The girl watched him.
"Yes, my name's Gohan. Remember, you asked me?" He started to leave.
The girl snapped out of her statue like ways, just watching him. "Oh, right. What are you doing now?"
"What does it look like?" Gohan was getting tired of all her questions, and decided that he didn't care if his Saiya-jin side came through, or not. He just wanted to get rid of her. "I'm going."
"Why?" The girl asked it innocently enough, but Gohan was already tired of her, and he let his Saiya-jin side fully through.
"What's up with all the damn questions? It doesn't't have anything to with you, so why do you care? I came to this spot to be alone, and since you're here, it's not like I can be alone, is it? And it's almost six, and I have to be home at six on the dot. I'm going now!" He stopped, as the girl had moved into his way. "Let me through!"
The girl glared at him. "No. I was just asking you simple questions, and then you blow up at me. Who's the rude one now?"
Gohan glared at her, and his eyes flashed green. "Get out of my way now, or I'll blast you to the Other World!"
The girl stared at him. "What are you talking about? Blast me? What the heck is that?"
Gohan glared at her. "If you don't move now, you'll find out."
The girl shook her head. She didn't't want to move, she thought that the boy, Gohan, needed to be taught a lesson. But, she couldn't help but feel a bit, frightened about the boy. That in itself was odd, she was never frightened. "Fine. I'll move. But remember who you were threatening." She glared at him.
"Who then?" He glared at her, matching her glare with his, and somehow also boring through hers to her eyes. She looked quickly away.
"Does the name Videl ring a bell?" She said, flipping her hair back. Normal she detested doing something so girly, but she'd make an exception for him.
"No."
Videl was shocked. Usually after she said her name, everyone apologised, and was sugary sweet to her. "Videl Satan?"
Gohan thought for a moment. "No, can't say it does. Though I might have heard Satan before." He crossed his arms. His biological clock and the sun were telling him that he had five minutes to get home. He could make it, but he'd have to go Super.
Videl was shocked. "You don't- you don't recognise my name? My father's Hercule Satan. He defeated Cell? He's the World Champion?"
Gohan had to stifle his laughter. "I dido't know I had a daughter." He muttered, too low for her to hear. "Oh, right…I remember now. Now will you please get out of my way? I have about five minutes to get home."
Videl nodded. "All right…" She moved out of the way, and Gohan raced past her.
* * *
Videl sat down on the vacated swing. She hadn't expected to meet anyone here. As far as she knew, she was the only person who came here. She swung lightly. That boy had sure been in an awful mood, and she wasn't sure why.
Videl glared at her outfit. She used to like it, but now, it made her feel weak, like a girl. There was something about that boy, Gohan. She was almost positive that she had seen him before, but where? He didn't't look like he went to Orange Star middle school, he had no badge, and she hadn't remembered ever seeing him there. But then where did she know him? He obviously didn't't know her. And the fact that he didn't even know about her father at first…He also said something that sounded like him having a daughter when she told him about her father.
That was actually something nice about the boy. Everyone she met knew her, and liked her because her father was the World Champion. But Gohan, he didn't't seem to care, he didn't't even know. She had Erasa and Sharpener, though Sharpener had started to become quite annoying lately, and they were also a bit awed by her father's glory. The only reason they were her friends is because she had known them both since Kindergarten, Erasa before then, and they didn't't flock to her because of something her father did.
Her father was also another story. He didn't't care about anything about his fame and his women, which was part of the reason she was even here. She thought back to earlier today.
School had been a disaster, they had learned something new in Math that she didn't't understand, and she had to go to the blackboard and complete four problems there. The teacher, Ms Martin had gotten mad at her, and had given her a slash. Then, in biology she had forgotten her lab write up at home, and she got a slash in that class. Then in PE, which she was usually good at, she tripped over Erasa who had stooped down to tie her shoe, and went flying.
After school she had come home to find that her father was out with one of his many girlfriends, and that she was to be eating dinner with them tonight, as well as staying over. Babsy, as the woman's name was, was a typical model, light headed, ditsy, and rail thin. She had died blonde hair, probably done with Hydrogen Peroxide, and was tan, wearing a white shirt all the way open to her bra, and then open the rest of the way down. Her skirt showed her underwear when she bent down, and her heels were high enough to kill someone. Videl hated her.
Videl swung harder. Everyone thought she had the perfect life, but she didn't't. Sure, her father cared for her, but not much, or at least he didn't't show it. And her mother had died when she was five. The only people who cared about her somewhat were the servants, and the only one of them who really cared for her was Erna, the head House Keeper.
Videl felt like crying, but didn't't. She didn't't cry. She wasn't ever frightened, she was always brave, and she was Videl Satan. The only problem was that that name didn't't have much meaning to her.
She glanced down at the ground, and frowned as something shiny caught her eye. It was a disk with 'System Saver and Recovery for Gohan' written on it.

Gohan flew as quickly as he could, through the air. He was at Ultra even, as high as he could go, and he saw his house in the distance. It had taken him three minutes, and he had thirty-nine seconds to get in the door after he landed.
He landed, and rushed in. "Mom, I'm here!"
Chichi came out, and had the telephone in her hand. "Oh, good. I thought that I'd have to call Bulma." She then noticed his appearance. "What have I told you? No Super Saiya-jin in the house!"
Gohan blushed. "Sorry Mom, I forgot." He quickly powered down. "Hey, Mom, is dinner ready?"
Chichi nodded. "Yes, but first, hands."
Gohan held out his hands, and Chichi inspected them. "Wash them." Was the verdict.
Gohan nodded, and went into the bathroom. He washed his hands, and smiled at Goten who had followed him in there. "Hiya, Goten."
"Brawtha, brawtha." Goten attempted to say brother, but didn't't quite manage. He stood up, and latched onto to Gohan's pants. "Tunks, Tunks."
"Right, Goten, I was with Trunks today." Gohan smiled, and picked him up. "I don't know about you, but I'm hungry."
Just as that remark left Gohan's mouth, Chichi yelled to come and eat. Gohan smiled, and Goten laughed. "Dinna."
"Right. Dinner." Gohan made his way to the kitchen, and placed Goten in his high chair, taking his place.
Chichi set the rice on the table, after making sure everything was ready. "You may begin."
* * *
Dinner went by quickly, and a half an hour later, it was over. Chichi started to clear the dishes, while Gohan picked up Goten, and released him from the high chair. "Gohan, would you give your brother a bath?"
Gohan looked up. "All right, Mom. Then should I out him to bed?"
"Yes. I looked at your work from earlier today, and didn't't find any mistakes. Once you're done with Goten you can do what you want."
Gohan smiled. "Okay, Mom, I need to reprogram my computer tonight. Bulma gave me a new CD so I can upgrade my system."
"Did Bulma give you anything else to work on?" Chichi asked, washing a plate.
"Not really. The XIP remote that I fixed last night Trunks got into, and I need to replace a wire, but it shouldn't't take me even five minutes."
Chichi dried the plate, and set it in the dish rack. "What did you do at Bulma's?"
"Oh, Bulma had me help her with a few capsules that wouldn't't expand when they should. And she gave me the Computer Disks, of course."
Chichi nodded. "That is really nice of her to do that for you. Just make sure you get that remote done for her. She's really a good friend."
Gohan nodded. "Right. Mom, should I give Goten his bath now?"
Chichi nodded. "Of course."
Gohan grabbed Goten, who was attempting to eat the tablecloth. "Come on, Goten, it's bath time."
* * *
Goten's bath went quickly, he enjoyed baths, and never fussed. Of course, the bathroom happened to be a mess, but at least Goten enjoyed it. Gohan plucked him out of the water, and wrapped him up in a towel. "C'mon, Goten, we have to put you to bed." Goten nodded, and snuggled closer to his brother. Gohan laughed.
"It's bed time, Goten." Goten shook his head.
"No bed." He gripped Gohan's shirt, and stuck his head in it. "No bed. Not sweepy."
Gohan smiled. "Well, at least let's get you into pyjamas." Gohan opened the door to their room, and went to Goten's dresser. He pulled out pyjamas, and started to dress Goten. Goten snuggled closer to Gohan.
"No bed." Gohan sighed, and pulled Goten away from him.
"Come on, Goten, it's time for bed." He proceeded to pull the legs and arms of the pyjamas on Goten, and then attempted to snap it up. "Good Night, Goten."
Goten snuggled closer. "Ne."
"Be- did you just say 'ne'?" Gohan looked at Goten. In opposite to Goten's protests, his eyes were already closed, and he was snuggling as close as he could get to Gohan. "Ne?"
Goten snuggled closer. "Ne. Ne bed."
Gohan looked at him surprised. 'Ne' was 'no' in Saiya-jin. But how did Goten know that? Gohan rarely spoke Saiya-jin at home, if he spoke it ever. There were a few cases where it slipped out, but he tried not to do it, for fear of his mother, who would have a cow if she found out her son was learning it. "Wow, Goten, but it's time for bed."
Gohan walked over to the corner, where Goten's crib was. Bulma had invented a screen that kept out all light and sounds, so that Gohan could work in the room while Goten was falling asleep, even though that didn't't matter too much. Once a Saiya-jin fell asleep, almost nothing could wake them up until they were ready.
He laid Goten down in the crib, and smiled. "Night, Goten. Sleep well. Nox, Goten. Dormi bene, filius." Night. Sleep well, brother. He tucked him in, but Goten was already asleep. He quietly left the room.
* * *
Gohan found his mother in the living room, watching some movie on TV. He sat down next to her, and rummaged through his bag until he found the XIP remote he was looking for. He brought out his tool kit, and proceeded to fix it, half way listening to the show.
He soon had it fixed, and put it away. It was seven-thirty, and he still had an hour and a half before he began his nightly meditation with Piccolo. Gohan picked up his bag. "Mom, I'm going to work on my computer now. Anything you need before I go?"
Chichi shook her head. She was deeply involved in the sitcom, about a woman who found out that she had a daughter she never knew about. Gohan sighed. He should have known better. Chichi liked to watch TV in the evenings when she had time, and always took an hour to watch "Where did My Baby Go?" from seven to eight.
Gohan made his way to his room, and smiled at the corner where Goten slept. He remembered when his mother found out she was pregnant. He was actually at fault for alerting her, she had a different ki, and she smelled funny, he had complained. At first she didn't believe him, but when he asked Vegeta what it meant, he realised what it was. And his mother went to a doctor.
It had been hard at first. Gohan had no idea what he should do when he saw his mother crying almost all the time. Not to mention she ate almost as much as Goku had, and sometimes had problems getting up in the morning. There were a few times she couldn't get up at all, and Bulma had come over. It was then Vegeta had explained to him about Saiya-jin pregnancies.
Saiya-jin pregnancies are extremely hard. Only the Elite and the lowliest of the third class have natural births. It's very risky for the mother. The woman can barley stand up after a few months, and at the end of the twelve months, the woman can barely move. That's why most pregnancies are transferred to an incubator. There's a special Centre where the baby is transferred from its mother to the incubator. It has to be done under two months though. Only the Elite and higher have natural births, because in an incubator it's too risky if they malfunction, or if someone sabotages it, and then the baby is lost. And in the lower Third Class, no one simply cares if they lose the baby or not.
Vegeta had went on about how it was better to have it in an incubator, because one could monitor the progress, and how one could make sure no defects came out in birth. One could also raise power levels, and feed it nutrients so it would grow bigger. He had also explained about the smell Gohan had noticed.
Another reason for unnatural pregnancies is that the pregnant woman also affects those around her. For instance her smell. You said your mother smelled funny. Now, you're not sixteen, and not in Saiya-jin puberty. It's at sixteen when one can choose a mate, because they're biologically able. Before then, anything that has to do with mating or such is ignored, and if gone into great detail, disgusting.
A woman's smell changes, and to a Saiya-jin under sixteen, it smells odd, not very pleasant. But for a Saiya-jin sixteen or older, it smells like the nicest thing you could imagine. Especially to her mate. Her mate will go simply crazy. He'll want to be around her twenty-four/seven, and when it's possible, mate with her again. It's quite violent, and it could cause damage to the baby and mother. But when the baby isn't there, there's no scent, and the men don't go crazy. In natural births are the men kept fully away from the woman. From what I know about my mother, she was confined to bed as soon as she told my father she was pregnant, and my father was kept away from her. He could only see her with a woman escort, for they knew that he wouldn't't try anything with another person there.
Gohan shook his head. His mother's pregnancy had been normal for a Saiya-jin one, and Goten was delivered normally. He grew fast. His first steps were at seven months, and he certainly had the Saiya-jin appetite. Chichi had been worried at first how to feed him, but with help from Vegeta, Goten had none of Gohan's baby problems, which were caused by not getting enough fresh meat as a child. Goten was healthy, active one year-old, who liked adventure, and already had started to cause problems with the help of Trunks. Gohan smiled, as he looked in the crib. Goten smiled in his sleep, and drew the blanket towards himself.
* * *
Gohan sat down at his deck, and flipped on his laptop. The familiar screen booted up, the background was the picture taken right before Mirai Trunks had left, with all the Z warriors there. He watched as the computer played the same booting up song it always did, and tapped his fingers on his desk. "Welcome."
Gohan sat up straighter, and clicked on his Internet connection. He used it just to have fun with, and decided to check his mail. After doing so, where he had one ad, and it was about Capsule Corps's newest car, Gohan clicked off the Internet, and brought out the System Disk. He rummaged around in his bag, and found only one. But, Bulma gave me two…so where's the other one? He started to look frantically in the bag, dumping out everything on the floor. When that didn't't help, he traced his steps down stairs, through out the entire house, and to the yard. When he didn't't find it, he realised he had to come to terms. He had lost the backup copy to the newest computer system Capsule Corps had made, one that was personalised, and had many more features than the normal computer would. He was dead.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Videl swung on the swing some more, and then decided to get off. It was almost six thirty, getting dark; getting cold, and the dinner she had fled was probably over by now anyway. Father and 'Babsy' are probably all ready in bed. She glared at the thought of it. The problem was that it was a perfect legitimate thought. That's probably exactly what they were doing.
Videl looked at the disk in her hands. She wasn't sure what to do with it. On one hand, she should return it Gohan. On the other, she had only seen him once, and wasn't sure if she was ever going to see him again. And the fact that the disk was so odd. She knew what 'System Saver and Recovery' meant, but she didn't't know what system it was for. And it was obviously from Capsule Corps; it had the company stamp on it. So, the question was, what to do with it.
She shivered. It had somehow gotten colder, and Videl decided that a nice hot dinner wouldn't't be amiss. With the disk still in hand, she made her way home.
* * *
Videl reached the mansion gates, and punched in the security code. The gates slid open, and she walked in, following the path up to the massive front door. She knocked.
The door was soon opened by Erna. Erna stood there, looking at the small girl, smiling. "Oh, Miss Videl, I was wondering where you ran off to. Your father was worried about you, but then decided to carry on with out you. I hope you're not mad that you missed dinner." Erna smiled a knowing smile. Erna knew full well that Videl had wanted to miss dinner on purpose.
Videl smiled. "Mad? I think I'll survive. But I do want some dinner."
Erna nodded. "Of course, Miss, of course. Just come on in." She held the door wide open, and Videl came inside, wiping off her shoes. Leading the way through the monstrous Entry Hall, Erna chattered about different things.
Videl didn't't really pay attention, and she knew that Erna wasn't expecting her to answer. They walked down the long hallway, coming to the Dinning Room. Erna motioned for Videl to sit down. Videl sat, and Erna disappeared into the kitchen.
"I saved dinner for you. The adults had chicken in wine sauce with parsley, but I figured you'd prefer pizza." Erna came out and sat a cheese pizza down in front of Videl. Videl nodded her thanks, and dug in.
* * *
After Videl had finished, she went up to her room. Her room was huge, painted white with a dark blue flowered border, it had a balcony with dark blue lacy curtains, and the dark brown wood floor was polished to a gleaming extent. There were bark blue and white throw rugs decorating the floor. She turned to her desk, a mahogany wood, and sat down at it, pulling out the disk she had found, Gohan's disk. She booted up her computer, one of the latest Capsule Corps models, which her father had bought her out of the blue.
She stuck in the disk, and waited, as she entered the programme commands. She frowned when the screen went dark, and then watched as a screen appeared. "System Saving now. Reprogramming will commence in five, four, three, two, one, done. System has been reprogrammed." Videl stared in horror. She had just reprogrammed her entire computer.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Gohan sighed. At least it was only the back up disk he had lost. If he had lost the real thing, well, he didn't want to think of what Bulma would do. It was bad enough he had lost the backup. That disk was a promotional and personalised disk of a new computer that costs about one million Groschens. If it were to fall into the wrong hands, well, it'd be better not to say.
He took out the original, and stuck it into his computer. He sighed, and followed all the instructions, fixing an error, and watching as his old desktop was replaced with a new, higher quality one. This was really a great computer, Gohan thought, as he read the welcoming Message.
Dear Gohan,
I hope this went fine, with out any problems. This is updated, and I put every piece of information I thought you'd need into it. The address book has addresses from everyone, except Tenshinhan and Chaozu, but since I don't think they live in a normal house, you can probably find them by their kis.
I also probably already have told you that I loaded the information of Vegeta's Scouter onto this, and so this computer can also speak and read Saiya-jin. It also has all the other galactic languages Vegeta had loaded, as well as history, customs and other information of different planets around the universe.
This also should run faster, has more memory, better options, but I think you can figure it out. Just go and explore it. Have fun, and if any problems arise, tell me, if you can't fix them yourself.
-Bulma
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Videl looked at the Welcome Screen. What did it mean, 'galactic languages'? Or, what was 'Saiya-jin'? Why did Bulma Briefs, seeing as this must be from her, Bulma wasn't a common name, and Bulma Briefs ran Capsule Corps, make a special top of the line promo disk for Gohan?
Videl stared at he computer screen. The back round was a picture of a group of people. They were all dressed fairly nicely, and the boy in the picture had to be Gohan, he looked pretty much the same. He had the same hair, at least, and Videl knew she hadn't seen many people with a haircut like that. There was also a teenager with purple hair, a green man in a turban, a woman with blue hair, holding a baby, that must be Bulma Briefs, Videl thought, and many other figures, including a man standing in the back, with black hair that greatly resembled a flame.
Videl may not have known these people, but Gohan had some questions to answer. It was actually pretty odd, Videl mused, she hadn't known Gohan for a day yet, and she was already planning to get answers from him. Of course, after what he had been like in the park didn't show very well that he was a nice person, but Videl decided he must have just been worried about getting home late, and the fact that she had disturbed his privacy.
She clicked an icon that said 'Address Book'. Videl stared, as all the names were listed. Kuririn, Yamchu, Master Roshi, the Lord of Turtles, Lunch, and there were also a few more names, mainly one Bulma. The address was the exact address for Capsule Corps, and there were several phone numbers written, each with a word, such as, 'office', or 'living room' behind it.
Videl looked over that list again, and came to the name Yamchu. Yamchu, Videl thought over it. Was that the famous baseball player? He lived around here, somewhere, Videl knew, and when she looked at the address, it matched the general area. So, Gohan also had Yamchu's address in his address book. Very interesting, very. Videl knew she was going to have to give Gohan back his CD, after replacing her old computer. And she knew that she'd wait for him everyday, all afternoon until he showed, if she had to. There was no way she was going to go long without her questions being answered.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Gohan smiled. He wanted to check out the computer right away, but a glance at the clock on his desk told him otherwise. He was to meet Piccolo at nine o'clock, and it was eight fifty. He also had to change into his gi, though they never fought at these times, it was strictly meditation, and learning how to fight with the mind, a gi was still more comfortable. Gohan yawned. As long as he didn't fall asleep during his meditation. Every time he did that, he got thrown into a mountain.
Gohan shook his head. Somehow it was hard for he and his father to meditate. They could never sit still. Of course, it might have something to do with the Saiya-jin blood. Gohan decided he'd ask Vegeta tomorrow morning. Gohan finished changing into his gi, and went downstairs. His mother was still sitting there, making her tightly cup of tea.
"Hey, Mom, I'm going now. I'll be back in an hour, like usual." Gohan said, sticking his head through the kitchen door.
Chichi looked up from her tea. "Well, if you must. I don't really approve of you spending so much time with that green monster, but I know that if I forbade you to see him, you'd do so anyway."
Gohan blushed. "Well, you are right…"
Chichi shook her head. "Just go, and be back by ten. A boy still needs his sleep."
Gohan nodded. He wasn't really too a little of a boy anymore, he had defeated Cell, and was the most powerful warrior in the universe, but he knew better than to say that to his mother. "Right, Mom, I'll back be before ten."
Chichi nodded her approval. "Now you may go."
Gohan smiled, said "Good Night", and leaped off into the air, flying to Piccolo's waterfall.
* * *
When Gohan arrived, Piccolo sat waiting for him. Piccolo was dressed in his normal outfit, and stared at the young half Saiya-jin. "You're late." Piccolo said, but made no other comment.
Gohan bowed his head. He had fallen asleep during fling, and had crashed into a mountain. After pulling himself out of the debris, Gohan had to keep himself awake. "Sorry, Piccolo."
Piccolo snorted, and said nothing. He simply went back to meditating.
Gohan took this as his key to start. He bowed his head, cleared his mind, and in ten seconds was asleep.
Piccolo frowned. He had been expecting the boy to try to get through his mind defences, they had been working on that for a few weeks, and Gohan still hadn't gotten the hang of it. But when nothing, came, Piccolo sent his mind out to Gohan's, and found no resistance, something he should have found. There was only one explanation. Piccolo smirked, his earlier frown disappearing. He had been wanted to test how far he could throw Gohan lately, and now was the chance.
He picked up the boy, and searched for a good mountain that needed to be levelled. After finding one, Piccolo flew towards, it, and stopping quite a distance away, through Gohan at it as hard as he could, with all his strength.
Gohan stirred as he blasted through a mountain, but didn't think anything of it. He slept again. After the fifth mountain, he decided that something had to be up. He opened his eyes sleepily, and looked down, as he saw he was flying over a city. Satan City to be more precise. What am I doing flying over Satan City? Gohan looked around confusedly. He still was sleepy. Then his thoughts were cut short as he flew through a building, and got caught in the rubble. It was actually a very familiar building he flew through, and Gohan looked sleepily up from the rubble as he read the sign on the gates he had missed.
Capsule Corps.
