Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Turn Back Time, One More Time ❯ ~Guardian Angel~ ( Chapter 3 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
(Disclaimer: Dragonball Z belongs to Akira Toriyama, and the theory on zero space and the Time Matrix belong to K.A. Applegate, although many of the theories and ideas came out of my crazy imagination, so please don't sue... you know what? I've always wondered why we have to put a disclaimer. I mean, it's not like you guys can sue me anyway, the worst you can do is flame... *shrugs* Anyway, it doesn't matter.)
(A/N: Yay! Here's part three. It's a LOT longer then part two. Mostly because part 3 was going to be kinda boring, mostly just thoughts, so I combined it with part 4, which is quite a bit more interesting. Well, enjoy!)
Turn Back Time, One More Time (part 3)

~Guardian Angel~

18 entered the house slowly, following her brother. She saw an old man sitting on a rocking chair near the fire place. He got up when he heard the door open and smiled at 17.
"Tobias!" He said, coming closer, "Is this your sister Miyako that you've been talking about?"
17 smiled, "Yeah, that's her."
18 smiled as well and extended her hand, "Pleased to meet you. Tobias told me a lot about you."
"Did he?" He laughed, shook her hand, and glanced at 17, "What kind of rumors are you spreading, boy?"
17 chuckled and put on a fake-inocent look, "Oh, nothing too bad..."
"Yeah right."
18 looked around the house, hoping that it might jar her memory, but nothing did. Except for Caiman. It was his eyes. He had the same icy blue eyes that she and 17 had.
"You okay, girl?"
18 blinked and smiled. She must have been staring, "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just glad I got to meet the man that my brother says is so amazing."
"Amazing, ne?" He laughed again and hit 17 on the shoulder, "Watch out there, Toby, you're gettin' soft!"
17 grinned, "Not as soft as you, old man."
"Boy, you know I hate it when you're right."
Caiman walked into the kitchen, "Did you eat supper yet, young lady?"
"No, why?"
"Well, come on then, I'll cook. I don't want you starvin'."
"If you insist," She murmured, following him.
As she neared the kitchen, she noticed a small picture frame on a shelf. There were two young children, one a blond girl with her hair in pig tails, the other a boy with jet black hair, who was sitting on the girls shoulder.
"That's Michelle and Wallace," 17 said when he noticed his sister looking at the picture.
"Are they..."
"Yes. Those are Caiman's children."
"But... they look so much like us," She ran her finger down Michelle's face, "And she looks so much like Marron."
"I know. But let's not think of that right now. Let's just go eat."

18 got up late that night and snuck past her sleeping brother. Caiman had insisted that she spent the night.
She climbed out of the window and began to head home, her head full of thoughts.
Could he really be my father? She asked herself, Could he be the key to my past? Or is he just another victim? Maybe this is all just one big coincidence?
18 stopped in midair and simply floated there, I have to know for sure.
With this thought, she turned and headed for Capsule Corp. If anyone was smart enough to help her, Baulma was.

Vegeta's eyes opened as his sensitive saiyan ears picked up a sound. Not just some house creaking noise. This was different. This was footsteps.
"Wake up, woman," He told the sleeping form beside him.
Baulma got up slowly and rubbed her eyes, "What is it, Veggie-chan?"
"Shh!" He hissed, then pointed to the balcony window.
Baulma covered her moulth with her hand, then followed Vegeta's finger and gasped as she noticed the shadow of a young woman.
"Don't bother whispering," The shadow said, "I can hear you quite clearly."
"18?" Baulma whispered, squinting to see the woman more clearly.
The shadow reached over and flicked a light switch. Sure enough, there was the blond android.
"What are you doing here?"
"I need your help."
"Me?" Baulma asked, "What do you need my help for?"
"Marron mentioned the other day that Trunks and Goten had told her something about a time machine that you're building. I want to see it."
"What? But why? It's not even finished yet, I still have to figure out how it would work."
"Just let me see it, now!" 18 screamed, her eyes determined.
"O...Okay. Follow me."
Baulma got out of bed and put on a house coat. She left the room and 18 followed her. Vegeta groaned and went back to sleep.

18 looked over the time machine quickly, then turned to Baulma, "You said that you couldn't figure out how to work it?"
"Yeah, that's right. I tried a bunch of stuff, but I just can't seem to figure out how to make time reverse."
18 frowned, then checked the machine's computer.
"You're using too much power, for one thing."
"Huh? How would you know?"
"Doctor Gero had a theory that the power that it takes to make something go the speed of light is the same that it takes to make time go backwards. The power and the frequency have to be exactly the same, and then once light speed is acquired, the ship will enter zero space. Zero space is... well, you know, like matter and anti-matter? Well zero space is like anti-space. Once the ship is in zero space, then you have to reverse the engines, and that will trigger the traveling in time. Once the engines are reversed, you can pick precisely what time you want to go in."
Baulma blinked and simply stood there with her moulth open, "18, you're a genius! Of course! Why didn't I think of that?!" She quickly opened a panel on the machine and began disconnecting and reconnecting the wires, "But how did you find out about zero space?"
"Well, like I said, it's a theory Doctor Gero had. He wanted me and 17 to have the same intelligence as him, so he programed all his theories into us."
"Of course! It makes sense! If matter has anti-matter, then obviously space should have anti-space! And if we could reach the anti-space, then time travel might actually be possible!"
"Glad I could help," 18 said with a laugh as she saw Baulma go into her 'technologist mode'.

It was a month later. Baulma's time machine was finally ready for testing.
"You know, 18, you never told me why you wanted to help me with this," Baulma said to the android as they sat down for lunch.
"Well... I want to be the one to test it."
Baulma frowned, "Any particular reason why?"
"I... I want to know my past. I want to know what happened before Doctor Gero turned me and 17 into androids."
The blue haired woman nodded, "I see. Well, that makes sense. And I suppose that you have the right to test the machine, considering the fact that you helped build it."
18 looked at the machine that had taken so long to build. It looked mostly like an off-white sphere. They had actually discovered that it would be easier to control the machine with thoughts, as opposed to regular controls. They had named it the Time Matrix.
"Do you think it'll work?"
Baulma sighed and looked at the Matrix, "I hope so. It should. Just make sure to keep your mind clear and to concentrate on the commands. Otherwise who knows where you'll end up."
"I'll be careful. So, when do I leave?"
"Well, whenever you want, I guess. Do Krillin and Marron know you want to do this?"
"I already talked to Krillin about it. He said that if I feel this strongly about it then I should go for it."
"Alright then. So how about tomorrow?"
"Sounds good."
The next day, 18 was back at the time machine with Krillin and Marron.
"So, um, when will you be back, anyway?" Krillin asked.
"I'm not sure," 18 answered, "But it will hopefully be soon. I just want to know for sure if Caiman really is my father. All I have to do is find out, then come back."
"All right. Be careful."
18 nodded, "I will."
Stepping up to the Time Matrix, 18 waved to Marron and blew a quick kiss to Krillin.
She put her hand on the machine and closed her eyes, Zero space engines on, She thought, relaying the message to the Matrix.
A panel opened up and a small wisp of air blew out. Or at least it seemed like air. Before everyone's eyes, the air began to crystallize, forming a barrier around the android. The crystal expanded until it had her completely enveloped, and then it began to float. A fraction of a second later, and the ship, and 18, were gone.
"Wow," Krillin managed to mutter after a few seconds.

Alright, I have to concentrate, 18 thought as she zoomed through space, When had Caiman said his children were taken? 25 years ago? No wait, it was 25 years, 5 months, and 12 days. And I want to get there at least a week before. So that means 25 years, 5 months, and 19 days.
As she finished that last thought, the ship entered zero space. It kind of looked like regular space, except the colors were reversed. Everything was white. She could see other ships looming about as well.
One of them was a vertical ship with a large dome at the top. What was strange was that she could see inside the ship! She could see these strange creatures walking around in it. They looked like deer, only with the upper torso of a human instead of a head. And they had no moulths, and aside from the two regular eyes, they also had two extra ones on antennas. They were covered in blue fur, and a small percentage of them had purple fur.
But why can I see them? She wondered, and then realized that it must have been a side effect from zero space, that you could see things inside out.
Ok, I have to concentrate, She reminded herself, Reverse the engines.
At first, nothing seemed to happen, but then she emerged out of zero space, and back into regular space.
Something must be wrong! I'm not supposed to be back in regular space!
But then she noticed that she wasn't in regular space at all.
All around her were threads of light, woven and interwoven. They were everywhere!
This must be where I can go through time. Ok, so I want to go 25 years, 5 months, and 19 days ago, She relayed to the Time Matrix.
And then she blacked out....

"Lady?" A young voice said, "Lady? Are you okay? Are you dead?"
18 opened her eyes to a young red headed boy who was looking at her in concern.
"Don't worry kid, I'm fine."
"Are you sure lady?"
18 got up slowly and looked at her surroundings, "Hey kid, do you know where I am?"
The boy nodded, "Yep! You're in Paradova city, near Capsule Corp."
18 quickly stood up, "Alright, thanks kid," And then, without even thinking about the fact that the kid was standing right there, she took off flying.
Ok, if Capsule Corp. is here, then Gero's lab can't be too far away.

"Wallace! Wallace get back here!" The young girl called to her brother.
"No way Michelle! You'll have to catch me first!"
"But Waaaallaaaace! It's your turn to take Ringo for a walk!"
Michelle pouted as her brother ran too far away for her to follow.
"No faire!" She muttered under her breath. She hated walking their dog Ringo. He was cute, but man! Did he ever bark!
As she went towards her house to get the hyper active dog, she noticed a movement in the nearby forest.
Blinking in surprise, she quickly made her way to the forest, but as she got there, she didn't see a thing.
I'm not so easily fooled, she thought to herself, then looked up on one of the tree branches.
"I know you're up there!" She called.
A young woman jumped down from the tree and looked at her in confusion, "How did you find me?"
"I'm good at this stuff. Me 'n my brother Wallace are always playing hide 'n seek, so I got pretty good. Hey! You know what? You look like me!"
Now that she got a better look at the woman, Michelle realized that she did look quite a bit like her! She had the same blond hair and icy blue eyes.
"Why were you spying on me?"
"I..." The woman started to answer, but then Michelle interrupted her.
"Hey, you know what? This may seem strange, but Wallace told me once that your guardian angel always looks like you. So is that it? Is that why you look like me and why you were spying on me?"
The woman looked as if she was ready to deny it, but then smiled, "My, you're sharper then I thought. Only a genius would realize something like that.
Michelle's eyes lit up, "So I'm right? You really are my guardian angel?"
The woman nodded, "Yes, I am. But you know what? You weren't exactly supposed to see me, so let's just pretend this never happened, okay?"
"Alright!" The young blond squeaked, then turned to leave, but then turned again to look at her 'Angel', "By the way, can I at least know your name?"
"It's eight... Miyako."
"Miyako? Okay! I'm Michelle. And don't worry! I won't tell anyone."

18 watched the young girl leave and sighed. She'd have to be more careful not to be seen.
Oh well. There's no harm in her thinking that I'm her guardian angel. Still, I'd better try to be careful from now on.
18 fell back into the shadows and watched as Michelle ran towards the house.
"Can that really be me?" She asked herself silently.

(A/N: Man, I'm reading waaaaaaaaaaay to much Animorphs! That big explination on Time travel sounded like something Ax would come up with! *notices non-Animorphs fans giving her wierd looks* Well, anyway, I told you that it'd be longer! Haha... Also, sorry this took a while to get out! I'm working on about a dozen fics at once, so I'm not exactly getting chapters out that quick. Aaaaaanyway, the next part is definatly going to be my favorite, and I can't wait to write it! 18 discovers whether or not her and Michelle really are the same person! And in case you're wondering, Wallace is actually pronounced Will-iss in this fic. Yes, I know, it's wierd. Also, I know that Baulma and 18 finished the Time Machine rather quickly. So sue me! I'm not an adult, or a scientist/machanic/etc. I don't really know how long it would take to build a time machine. Well, now that we've got that over with, please review!)
