Six: Hardships begin
Bulma paced nervously back and forth across the Son house's living room floor. Goku sat and watched as she searched her mind endlessly to find an answer. She paused and her worried expression shifted into one that displayed her frustration and anger. "Ooh I can't wait to get my hands on that Vegeta! He's so stupid, leaving and not telling anyone where he's gone."
Goku cringed, though he understood where she was coming from, she was rather dangerous when she was angry and he didn't really want to be caught in the midst of her rage. Not that he was worried about her he far surpassed her in physical strength, just that well she tended to be kind of scary. Though he himself was somewhat irritated by the prince's absence. he was supposed to come over to spar but never showed up, so where was he? "Bulma, maybe he got sidetracked, and ran into some trouble along the way. After all he did need a bit of coaxing to come over today. I'm not surprised after that big fight yesterday." He wanted to believe it himself yet something just didn't seem right about this whole thing.
She sighed, "You don't have to make excuses for him Goku. He wouldn't do that anyway . . . I mean besides wouldn't you know if there was trouble? Maybe . . . " She trailed off having run out of reasonable explanations, and plopped herself down on the sofa. Goku reassured her, "I don't think anything's seriously wrong but I'll see if I can pick up his ki just to be sure maybe I can get an idea of where he is." Bulma was relieved somewhat and happily smiled at her best friend. "Alright . . . do your stuff. What would I do without you?" he scratched his head sheepishly, but smiled all the same. "I'm not sure but things would really fall apart I guess." He grew serious now, focusing his sensees on finding his fellow saiyan's ki signature. After a few moments his expression changed, something letting on he was puzzled about something, it seemed he couldn't find Vegeta's signature. It didn't make sense, despite how far he was he would be able to sense something.
Bulma watched on in eagerness. At first she didn't care wether he was in trouble, if he was alright she just wanted to wrap her hands around his neck for not telling her where he went just when she could have used his help the most. Now she was getting concerned, sure they had a big fight yesterday but how much time did he need to cool off?
Goku pulled her from her thoughts with an excited, "Aha!" She jumped- "What?!" He flashed her a confident smile. "Got him . . . only . . . " She sulked upon that word, "What?! Only what?!" His smile quickly faded. "I have it . . . but it's not right somehow. It's a little different. Not only that but it's stronger than usual." He stood up and looked at his friend, he could see the concern her eyes. It was wierd for him as well. e couldn't understand it.
Just then something else caught Goku's full attention; "Hey Bulma! It feels like he's on his way back to your place!" She arched a brow, "Really? Great, thanks a lot Goku!" Without a second to spare or letting him get another word in she scurried out the door and made haste back to her place.
As soon as she walked inside she made careful note of any intruders, or any sign of that Samara woman since she really hadn't had time to lock her doors. Someone was still here though, she thought as footsteps coul dbe heard from the hall leading to the stairwell.
"Mom?!" Her heart nearly jumped into her throat att he sounds of her son's voice. "Oh thank Kame__Trunks? Is that you? He confirmed her assumptions and stepped out into the kitchen gently rubbing the back of his head and wearing a half smile. She was so relieved to see trunks perfectly fine. "Yeah mom, it's me__ You alright?" He asked her with concern, more worried about her then himself. She raised her eyes at his question, "Am I alright? What about you? What happened?"
He shrugged, "I'm not too sure. I only know she managed to get in one good hit and then I was out." Her eyes darted about the room as if searching for something, or rather someone. "What's wrong mom?" He followed the path her eyes took wondering what she was hoping to find. She piped up, "Where's your sister?" His gaze shifted back to his mother and his smile faded into a small frown, he was the spitting image of this father right then. "Bra's upstairs in her room, she's still out. She should be fine in a few but she took one hell of a blow. I take it dad's not home yet?"
Bulma slowly shook her head in defeat. "No...but I went out to see Goku and we found him, sort of. He's on his way home and he's alright." Trunks could sense his father's ki right then and nodded in agreement. "Your right. He's not far now . . . but . . ."
Once again there was that "but" word. What was wrong, Goku had told her that he was fine, in fact he was more than fine. Yet that word, "but", that's what they both said, and no one seemed to want to tell her what it was? She grew impatient and without a further word she took off out the front door. Trunks objected to her irrational actions, "No, Mom! Wait!"
It was too late she was already out the door, although she hadn't gotten far when she crashed right into what felt like a wall. She stumbled back and looked up to see what, or rather who she had run into. "Bulma! I wasn't finished yet! I had to tell you something!" To her relief it was only Goku, but she was still weary of what he had to say to her that was so important. "I'm sorry Goku. I was in such a hurry to get home I must not have noticed you had more to say." Well if he had something important to say she had better listen, it would be smart to do so. He gave her a half smile, "I know. It's just that, well . . . I don't think he's normal right now, there was something different about his energy__and I don't think it's a good thing...."
She shook her head in attempts to clear her head of all the confusion and looked up at her childhood friend as though he were speaking another language. "What do you mean?! You said earlier he was fine!" What could possibly be wrong with him? He tried to calm her down. "Take it easy, I'm not sure....I mean it could be nothing...." He trailed off as something now caught his attention. He whirled around and quickly his eyes were to the sky, no sooner after they had been speaking of him, there he was, but there seemed to be another with him.
A small gust of wind made them take a step back as he landed on the grounds of C.C. before them, and when the dust settled and cleared, there stood Vegeta. Bulma nearly leapt off the ground to him, "Vegeta!" Thinking quickly like always, Goku stepped in front of her to hold her back from his saiyan counterpart. "No! BUlma stay back . . . something's wrong here. Very wrong." She tried to argue with him, she didn't understand, he was home and he wasn't injured, what could be wrong? "But Goku__"
His carefree attitude quickly hardened, more serious and stern as was his expression. "No!" She cringed, he was so much different like this, and when he was angry he meant business it was best to listen, he knew what was right.
Shifting her focus to Vegeta, she took a long hard glance at him and something caused her to do a double take. Sure enough, there was something horribly wrong. He didn't look the same, in fact his whole appearance was so much different than what she knew and had grown accustomed to. Her azure gaze was fixed on him, not able to tear it away for even a moment. She focused instantly on his hair, the most noticeable change. Once a resemblance of fire swept up on his proud head like the fire that burned within him and his love for her; the love that didn't seem to be present within the saiyan prince at the moment. Short spikes of ebony and crimson replaced the mass of raven hair she constantly enjoyed tangling her fingers in. She studied him further, moving her eyes down his face over his strikingly handsome sharply defined features. His eyes had even changed; instead of retaining their usual sense of pride and vitality, they were passionless, cold endless pools of onyx darkness. His expression was a deep scowl yet he remained deathly silent, and still. Continuing to run the length of his lean, firm sculpted body her focus was now on his attire. He was wearing a simple black leather jacket that hung open revealing his bare chest. She had seen his body countless times and knew it so well but yet it was as though she hardly recognized it anymore.
Then something else caught her focus as she glanced over to his left shoulder and shuddered slightly at what she saw. It was a marking, a few possibly saiyan symbols or characters only etched deep into his skin, a crimson red color; it was her sign of ownership over him. This sent a shiver down her spine, it disturbed her to see it, looking almost like it was etched in blood. Shifting her stare her eyes met with something around his neck; a wire like circlet that resembled what looked to be thorns yet despite how it snug it looked it didn't seem to bother him in the least.her gaze away her view dropped to his pants, just being a simple pair of black pants, from beneath which protruded the toes of his black boots.
Bulma shook her head rapidly, trying to remove the lasting image from her mind. Vegeta had changed it seemed, he belonged to Samara now and conformed to fit her style. It was after that very thought did the scarlet haired saiyan temptress make her appearence now striding right up to the unnervingly quiet prince and stood facing Bulma. Her expression dropped in horror as Vegeta possessively wrapped his arms around Samara as though it were natural. /No!/ She screamed in her thoughts, /This isn't right! That little succubus, what the hell did she do?/
Vegeta glared fiercely at Bulma, being the first time he had acknowledged her since he arrived, although it wasn't what she was hoping for. He opened his mouth and nibbled at the other female's neck before he carefully pierced her soft skin with his razor like canines. She gave a quiet chuckle as he skillfully licked up the blood that escaped, and resumed to just kissing.
Bulma was both panic and grief stricken at once, not knowing wether to scream or cry. Yet even though she felt like so, she couldn't make a sound, only gaze in horror as her once "mate" slowly slipped from existence. Goku was right, something went terribly wrong. She focused her gaze on the red headed saiyan before them, with a deep frown she lashed out at her. "What did you do to him?!"
She completely ignored the blue haired human woman and closely studied the taller man by her side for a good few minutes before a small smirk crossed her devil red lips. "Hello Kakarot, my how you've grown up. . . "
Goku's eyes were wide with bewilderment, she referred to him by his saiyan name, and the only one who really did that was Vegeta but he highly doubted the other saiyan told her anything about him.
She pulled away from Vegeta and approached Goku cautiously circling him. He kept his dark eyes on his saiyan counterpart while he spoke to her. "How do you know me? You assume we've met before but as far as I know this our first meeting." She stopped right behind him and snickered, "Of course you wouldn't know me. Last time I saw you, you were only a few days old." He didn't have to guess to know she was saiyan, it was obvious by her looks and the fact that she knew him. "Really . . . and I take it you know Vegeta pretty well too right?"
A cruel smile graced her scarlet red lips. "Oh I know my prince very well . . . but it sees we haven't been properly introduced yet . . ." She walked back around to his front, to face him now, "I'm Samara."
It took a moment for it to register in the younger saiyans mind just who she was. He instantly thought right back to the short lived battle they had a year ago, where she took Veruko's life; and then he recalled a conversation he and Vegeta had a few hours previous to the fight...and her name rang a bell. "No! You're__" She gave a smug smile. "You remember don't you? You're smarter than I took you for." Without turning around he adressed Bulma "I think you should head back to my place, it's safer there. I can handle this."
Without bothering to argue with him, she cautiously but quickly made a break for her car, but to her misfortune Samara was too quick for her yet again, and stopped her half way. She grabbed the blue-hairedwoman by her shoulders forcefully turning her to face her, then grasped her surprisingly gently by the throat studying her face carefully. The female saiyan arched a brow and sneered, "How pretty. I still don't know what you saw in this human Vegeta." Samara released Bulma as she stumbled over and into to Vegeta. She peered up at him curiously hoping to get through to him. "Damnitt Vegeta! Do something! Snap out of it!" She gave him an otherwise quite brutal hit across his stone face if he wasn't so much stronger than her it might have done some use. He didn't so much as flinch from it, as he growled low in his throat, quickly grabbed her and pryed her away from him. "Baka human! Do not put your hands on me."
Bulma staggered back and her expression melted, it was like he didn't even remember her, what happened to him what had that sadistic female done to him?
Trunks, along with Goten, chose that moment to come out of the house dressed in their fighting gi and ready for anything. "Hey dad! What's going on out here?" Goten question as he saw his father standing there before Vegeta Bulma and someone else they didn't quite recognize. At least Goten couldn't recall her face; Trunks on the other hand remembered her right off. "Her again?! What does she want with us now?" He took one glance at his father and immediately knew something was up.
"Goten! Trunks! take Bulma and go back inside, I'm can handle this myself." Goku ordered, and the two boys quickly complied with his request. "Right!" They said together, Bulma followed her son and his friend to the house, just before shutting the door behind them Bulma looked back at Vegeta again and in no less than a minute later, he, the woman and Goku vanished in instant transmission.
How was that? Hehehe I told you guys I was devious....that's why my characters turned out the way they did....ya know....I almost feel bad for Vegeta.....almost. ^>_<^ (devil face...sorta :p)
