Author's Note: Preditorial? Bloody dictionary... mutter mutter, whine whine... Preditorial is a word, I tell you! The bakka dictionary just doesn't know what it's talking about... yeah...
Author's Note: Why the double `A'? XD Lawyer larvae; that always cracks me up... Er, anyway. This fic brought to you by: Dragon Knights 14! =3 [huggles book] All hail Borders; I couldn't even find it on stupi-zon.com (amazon, ya'll) yet, but Borders had it =3 Cheers! Hmm... I literally stopped in the middle of the book to write this thing. Don't worry; even I'm not normally insane enough to do that, but before I could finish it I had to do bakka chores -.- Wah! But while I was in the middle of doing said bakka chores, I suddenly had the urge to grab a piece of scrap paper off the fridge and jot down this one scene that came to me O.o Hence, this fic was actually written from the second part on O.o;; Yes, I'm twisted. ...Hey, I have a tee-shirt that says `Shut up voices or I'll poke you with a Q-tip again'; isn't that the best? Er... Oh, and in closing, why do they spell it `Saabel'?! Arg!!! C'est la America, I guess... Okay, shutting up now.
==========================Shades of Gray==========================
Alone. Bored. That pretty much summed up Sabel's life.
The forest stank like his zombies. He should be used to it, he supposed, but he really wasn't. He could always smell it... A constant reminder that his only company wasn't exactly the finest one could hope for.
He spent most of his time sleeping. But even he couldn't sleep forever. He had been awake for the past few days now, just for a change of pace. But the problem was, he was starting to need a change of pace from that too...
All this, of course, was about to change. You can't write a story about someone being bored, now can you?
He had been amusing himself, minding his own business, by making two of his zombies walk in to each other. Thump... thump... thump... Then he heard someone chuckle.
He whirled around, hand flying to his sword. Wait, this was his forest, his; why was he so jumpy? He supposed it was something about the tone of the chuckle... So confident. No one in his forest should be that calm.
When he saw who it was, though, he instantly relaxed. Sure, this guy annoyed him, but he wasn't as bad as... As what? Never mind... He regarded him loftily. "Fedelta. What do you want?"
He chuckled again. "My, what a warm welcome. Do I really irritate you that much? I'm just bored, that's all."
Sabel rolled his eyes. "You wouldn't know the first thing about boredom," he said dryly. "Surely you have some fellow demons in the castle to play with?"
Fedelta grinned, leaving the deep shadow of the trees to stand in front of him. "I take that to mean that you're also bored?" Sabel just frowned, and said nothing. Couldn't this guy take a hint? But he continued. "Perhaps we can entertain each other; what do you say?"
Sabel stared at him for a moment. There was something in his eyes... indecipherable. And somewhat disturbing. But then again, Fedelta did have weird eyes; maybe he was just imaging it... He scoffed, and turned away.
"I really doubt you could entertain me." And he started to walk off.
But Fedelta grabbed his arm. "Oh, come on; there's plenty of things we could do!"
He scowled at him. His patience was most definitely wearing thin. "Like what?"
"Oh, I don't know... How's your love life?"
Sabel gaped. He was pretty sure his jaw almost hit the forest floor. "M-my what? I-I don't exactly think that's the sort of thing I'd discuss with you!"
He leaned close - uncomfortably close - and lifted Sabel's chin with a finger. "But you really should... Because I'm interested in becoming a part of it..."
He blanched. Fedelta didn't mean... what he thought he meant... did he? Then the other leaned closer still, close enough that he could feel his hot breath, close enough to...
"AURGH!" Sabel jerked back, so hard that he fell down. "Stay away from me!"
Fedelta's grin was different this time; it was almost... preditorial. But instead of taking advantage of Sabel's rather diminutive position, he offered him his hand. "Come now; you're acting like a child. You said you were bored, didn't you?"
Sabel shot the hand a dirty look, and got up by himself. "I am not interested," he said firmly. "Sorry; you're going to have to amuse yourself with someone else." And he started to walk away again.
This time, Fedelta grabbed his shoulder. And swung him around... and kissed him roughly, before he had a chance to protest.
When he let him break away, Sabel clung to him, panting. He felt... dizzy... and not just from lack of air. That did factor in to it, of course, but still. What had just happened there? It had been incredible, unlike anything he'd even felt, and it had also been... nauseating. Good lord. He started to pull away.
"Really... I don't want..."
But Fedelta stopped him, held him close. "Oh, give me a chance," he whispered somewhere next to his ear. "You might find out you like it..." His lips brushed Sabel's neck, making him shiver. It did feel good, being held like this, but he really wasn't sure...
Really... good, though... Coherent thought drifted away. Fedelta's lips kissed his mouth, his neck, his chest... Where was his shirt again? And his hands touched everywhere. The feeling was truly intoxicating. He just had to touch him too; he had never really thought about it before, but Fedelta's body was beautiful. So beautiful. He felt drawn to him...
Before he realized it, they were both completely naked. Sabel swallowed, a bit of himself coming back in a twinge of nervousness. "We aren't really... I mean..."
Fedelta smirked, studying his face with eyes that seemed to bore right though him. Eyes like fire, and so hard to read... "`Aren't really' what?"
He swallowed again, and looked away. "Never mind." So he let Fedelta kiss him again - and then gasped, as he felt a single finger sliding up inside him.
He moaned, instinctively trying to move away, but Fedelta grabbed his shoulder to force him to stay still. "You need to relax, or it'll hurt more," he said simply. Sabel frowned and couldn't help but think, even under the circumstances, that Fedelta seemed a bit too practiced at this for comfort... But oh well; he should have figured he would be. This wasn't the time to start letting such things bother him.
Soon, Fedelta had him prepared to his satisfaction. Sabel choked back a scream as the fingers were replaced by something much larger... then gasped, as it hit a certain spot inside him. This feeling... Fedelta grinned, seeing his face, and started to move at a steady rhythm.
It seemed to last forever, though it probably didn't really last too long. And the sensation at the end... unbelievable. Their bodies seemed to be made for each other. Later, as he lay in Fedelta's arms, Sabel experienced a feeling of closeness to another person that he hadn't felt in such a long time...
===============================================================
So now he was no longer lonely. Whenever he started to feel alone he would just think of him... and the feeling would go away. He had only to wait for his next visit... For a time, a very long time, he came almost every day. A wonderful time. Sabel found himself liking him more and more. Not that they ever talked that much - actually, if they ever did it was nearly always an argument - but there was just something about him...
Almost every day, he came. So it was a bit of a surprise when he didn't come for a whole week.
Sabel sighed, staring up at the weak light filtering though the trees from where he lay on the forest floor. Not direct sunlight; the sun was always blocked by clouds in Nadil's kingdom. Everything in the land was rendered in shades of gray. He liked it that way, of course. And it seemed to fit his mood particularly well today...
Then he heard something that changed his mood instantly. "Hello, love. Miss me?"
He smiled slightly, letting Fedelta pull him to his feet and in to a kiss. It had been much too long; he'd have to ask about that later. But for right now... for right now... What?! Just as their lips were about to meet he shoved him away, shocked.
"Fedelta... What is that smell?"
Fedelta smirked. "What smell? I have no idea what you're talking about. I'd think your sense of smell would be ruined by now, anyway, from hanging out with zombies all day."
Sabel scowled. "Cut the crap. You stink, and I mean differently than usual. It's almost familiar..."
Fedelta's smirk widened. "Oh, that smell. You must mean the smell of... Lord Shydeman."
He wrinkled his nose in disgust. Fedelta had expressed an interest in the older demon before, but he hadn't really thought... "Ug, Fedelta! That's sickening."
He snickered. "Oh, come now; Shydeman isn't sickening. Actually, he's very good... if you get my drift... You aren't jealous, are you?"
"Hmph. What is there to be jealous of?" Sabel sneered. "I'm sure I make a much better lover than him; doesn't his girly-girl hair get in the way?"
Fedelta seemed to consider this for a moment, still with a hint of that smirk in his features. "No, not really... to both." Sabel's eyes narrowed. "You're just... less busy..." And he leaned forward to kiss him.
Sabel shoved him away again, turning his back. "I could become busy," he snapped, well aware that it was a lame comeback at best. He just suddenly couldn't seem to get up the energy...
Fedelta snaked his arms around Sabel's waist, pulling him close. He couldn't help the slight tremor that shot though him; he was always so warm... "Busy with what, love?" Fedelta whispered, running his tongue over the other's ear.
Sabel sighed. "Do you have any idea how not in the mood this little talk has made me?" But Fedelta didn't answer, and he felt his will to resist slipping away. He suddenly felt so... emotionally drained...
===============================================================
Fedelta struck him soundly across the face. Sabel could have sworn the sound echoed. "Damn!" the fire youkai snapped. "I can't believe you're such a fucking pansy! Would you just forget about it already?"
Sabel winced, holding his cheek. Ow... "I don't see why you have any right to be upset," he hissed. "You really don't give a damn about me, do you?"
It all started when Fedelta had stayed away for a whole month. He had been all alone, with nothing but the stench of rotting zombies to keep him company. And when he finally paid Sabel a visit, he smelled so strongly of Shydeman that he almost would have preferred the zombies.
Now Fedelta rolled his eyes. "So, you're pissed that I'm not `spending enough time with you'? So sad. What do you want me to do, break up with Shydeman?"
He looked at his feet. "Yes."
"Bull! You're jealous; that's what it really is. You're too clingy, Sabel. Grow up!"
He looked up again, suddenly feeling impossibly angry... and maybe just a little afraid... "You have no right to talk like that, either! You have no idea what it's like here. In the castle you're always surrounded by people, but I... As the one in charge, I have to stay here. Alone!"
Fedelta shuddered. "Lord, how revolting. Listen to yourself! You sound like a child. I'm getting really sick of you; you know that?" Sabel froze, said nothing. "Honestly... You know what? I think I'm going to give you some time to cool off; maybe that'll put some sense in to your head."
Sabel's eyes widened. Was he... leaving him? "What are you talking about?" he demanded, just a little uncertainly.
He scoffed. "I'm leaving." No... "Have fun with your zombies, Sabel-chan. See you later... maybe..." He waved mockingly, and disappeared in whirl of flame.
Alone. Sabel sunk to his knees. It had been a long time since he had noticed how quiet the forest was. He felt so... cold. The smell of corpses filled the air, surrounded him, a constant reminder... Strangely, he found that he felt even more alone than before.

KR: [sniff] Aw, poor Sabel-chan! First he gets his name mauled (Saabel? Now really, people...) and now... this! [huggles Sabel-chan]
Sabel: @_@ YOU'RE THE ONE MAULING MY NAME! CHAN?!
KR: Yes, chan. Live with it. Er... So, did it suck? Did it rock (your socks)? I seem to lack the glorious ability to distance myself from my work enough to become capable of critiquing it -.- However, I AM capable of getting myself on such a sugar high that I dare to use big words! Bwuhahahaha, I scare me... R&R?
