No Scars Only Memories
Part 10: Victim
Essan glanced unnervingly around the room. She sensed something wrong but couldn’t put her finger on it. Well now she couldn’t think of anything except what will happen in the sixth day. She wished that she could hold her son once more. Knowing that it will never happen. Not after what happened. She thought she could seal both demons in time but it didn’t work. And she was going to pay for it big time. Sitting up she sat thinking. Maybe it was supposed to be like this. She was supposed to be denied everything she had ever wanted. Just like her father said. Or she could’ve done a better job at living better or at least try to. No matter what she still didn’t make it because she was haunted by her memories that refused to let her live her own life.
She never tried to drill what she learned during her years of living alone. Rune had a better chance of being happy than she ever did. At least he would live a better life, something she herself couldn’t keep her mother’s promise.
“My dear your life wasn’t that bad.” A voice said to her. She narrowed her eyes in annoyance.
“Go away. I have no time for your pep talk.”
“Such spirit…”
It began to sound real, “I like that.”
Essan jumped from her bed and landed non-to-gently on the floor. Her eyes trailed to her bed to see a female demon kneeling while looking over the edge at her. She shook her head in disbelief. It couldn’t be her. She hastily stood up and took off for the door. She collided with another body but before she could fall to the floor someone caught her around the waist.
“Why do you flee so quickly, Lydia? We just met again for the first time in almost a hundred years.”
Essan maneuvered herself away from the arms and stood facing the demon.
“She died a long time ago. As you said it’s been a hundred years. She could’ve died since people in this family don’t live long enough. You’re confusing me with someone else.” She stated. A hand unexpectedly slapped her hard making her body fall to the ground on her stomach. She touched her cheek with a shocked look on her face. This demon hit her for nothing. Her eyes glared at the other as that registered in her mind. A glare was sent her way too. She was about to stand up and attack but felt pressure on her back. She grunted in pain as the pressure was digging literally in her.
“Don’t play games Lydia, you should know how much I hate it.”
“Get off me!” Essan yelled out. It was a definite that someone heard that.
“Don’t bother yelling for help. If they’re not stronger than you then they won’t be able to do anything to me. Oh well, they probably are since right now you’re rendered useless.”
“What did you do?”
“I drained your energy to make a body of my own. I’m surprised the other two demons didn’t do it either. It’ll take me a while but I’ll have all my energy back.”
“I’m asking you nicely, please, get your foot off my back.”
“I don’t think so. You should remember what happens when your father did this to you. Except you were on your back instead.”
“Stop.”
“But it’s a perfect day to reflect on memories. The earth will cry with you.”
---------------------
It was raining. Rune was outside with only a thin sheet to cover him. He was lying on his stomach on the riverbank. His fingers were in the water feeling the coolness of it. Of course he wasn’t supposed to be out here but he was a water demon or at least he was in control at the moment. He’d been thinking on what would happen. Either he’d be sealed back or he could force the other spirit from this body. In less than six days he could plunge the world into an icy depth.
Everything was on revenge. Revenge on the world for sealing him away into this…sorcerer’s body. Well at least this body was powerful enough to handle all of his energy. He absentmindedly brushed the strands of hair that stuck to his sides behind his ears. They were bugging him. He twirled his finger around and around creating a small whirlpool then the water started to freeze. His hearing caught footsteps heading his way. He knew who it was but didn’t pay any mind.
He felt a hot breath brush his ear.
“You’re going to catch a cold out here. Although you dripping wet is bringing back some tempting memories I wish to repeat,” the fire demon said huskily. A sly smile played on his lips. The blond sat up facing his lover.
“You ready for the new ice age?” he said smiling coyly. Rath leaned in closer while his hand rested behind Rune’s neck.
“Of course, as long as I get to melt your frozen heart.”
“Only you.” Rune wrapped his arms around his neck while straddling his lap and bringing them together for a kiss. He pushed his lover to the ground with him on top not breaking their heated kiss.
Rath began to feel a decrease in temperature. He would’ve just let it go had it not been for the blond on top of him who was causing it. He flared up hearing the blond gasp in surprise. Rune was about to get off but he was being held down with his wrists burning a little. They were flipped over with Rath now on top pinning his hands on either sides of him.
“Heh, nice try. Just like the old days,” Rath said.
“Yeah, but it was the other way around,” Rune stated trying to get the other off him.
“True but it still ended up with the same conclusion.”
“What would that be?”
“First I’m going to have my fun then I’m going to kill you. After that I’m going to make this place a living hell. But I’m going to change one thing this time.” He dipped his head and nuzzled the blond’s neck. “I’m going to keep you alive to see it all.” The blond’s eyes narrowed.
“You’re the one who sold me to that witch.” He accused struggling more frantically. Rath subdued him until he couldn’t move so freely. Rune was trapped and he knew it.
“Of course. But the witch isn’t alive right now. After all it’s been thousands of years and I planned it that way,” he heard a gasp of surprise and smirked, “Don’t think of giving that other’s soul in control. Otherwise you’re giving me too much fun. Now be good,” he stated slapping something on the blond’s wrist, “and your mother wouldn’t have to suffer much.” He hoisted the blond over his shoulder while walking towards back to the cottage. The rain was getting to him.

Cernozura had a bad feeling. And when it came in sounds of something dropping to the floor from upstairs it had gotten worst. Trusting her instincts she trudged up the steps hurriedly and stopped at her mistress’s door knocking before opening. At least it was not locked. She was caught by surprise.
“Look out!” She heard before being pushed out of the way with her mistress slammed into the other wall. Footsteps were heard running up the stairs. No doubt everyone heard the commotion.
“My, my, I thought you never cared. After all of these years you’ve grown a heart. I think I’ve been asleep for far too long.” Cernozura froze at that voice. She knew that there was something wrong. “And you Cernozura,” she froze as her eyes met that of a demon’s, “have grown a lot as well. Carmela would’ve been proud.” The demon walked towards her. Cernozura couldn’t move as she was frozen to the spot. “But you’ll get in the way of what I had planned. So I must eliminate you now before you become a problem.”
“Stay away from her, Asia. Your petty reasons are with me,” Essan stated standing up placing a hand on the wall for support. The demon just laughed.
“Of course they’re with you, Lydia. I will never leave you out. But an inter-” she stopped in mid sentence blocking the energy ball thrown at her by the new group that arrived, “-fearence, is an interference.” Asia immediately prepared to throw the spare fireball but Essan tackled her down making it hit the other side of the wall. Her back collided with the other wall before she could stop herself. She was sure a bruise would form there. Lykouleon and Tetheus tried to help but only reached a barrier.
Asia stood up still in perfect health. She summoned a long pole. Essan mentally cursed as she figured what the demon was going to do with that. She poised it ready to attack. A smirk formed on the demon’s lips.
“You remember this don’t you? Yes, I see recognition. I still remember exactly where to impale you. It was your hip wasn’t it?” Asia stated before impaling through Essan’s skin on the hip. She let out a scream of pain and began to breath hard as her hand rested on it trying to stop it from moving so much. The others just watched in horror. “Exactly how I watched it. Just like before. The blood trickles down your chin with pain expressed on your face. Let me guess the first emotion in sixteen years. Funny isn’t it? You moved here sixteen years ago.” She tore out the pole stuck on her body. The demon just smirked indifferently. “Reliving memories are so much fun aren’t they?”
“Too bad…I don’t share…your sense of humor,” Essan commented breathing and trying to keep awake with the amount of blood loss. She was lucky that the demon missed a vital organ.
“But Lydia did, besides, I didn’t come here to kill everyone off. It’s her job. Be a good little girl and bring out your cold heart otherwise, I’ll request for Illuser to kill your son.”
Her eyes were surprised before it went to glaring at the demon. But it was true. Something was fighting to surface from within her. And in her weakened state she couldn’t do much of anything. Finally agreeing she went limp, falling into unconsciousness. A few seconds later her eyes opened revealing the coldest blue eyes. The injury on her side was healed and she stood up as if nothing ever happened. Her back was to the others so they couldn’t tell what happened except for Cernozura who’d seen it happen once before.
“Oh no…” Cernozura breathe out under her breath.
The body turned around to face them. Every thing was the same except for one distinct feature, the evil smile on her lips. For anyone who knew her she never truly smiled.
“Oh my…it seems I’ve been asleep for centuries.”
