~*~*~*~*~*~

Though seemingly impossible, Damon and Kairi managed to somehow unwrap themselves from each other long enough to recover their clothing, and redress themselves.

Of course, being the rattled bundle of nerves she was, Kairi had needed some extra help even getting up off the recently solidified ground. Her cheeks sufficiently flushed, she had let her mate slide clothes back on to her bare form.

“You know, Pretty,” Damon purred, “you could save us both the trouble and just stay naked for the rest of the day…” She nuzzled possessively into the bruised pallor skin of her mate's neck, feeling the very skin heat under her touch. Her lips curled into a grin, “I'm quite fond of that idea.”

Kairi, despite the distractions, finished pulling her shirt back over her head, “I bet you are.” She leaned back against the demoness contently, before turning her head back with skeptical eyes, “And you already have me dressed up in clothes where I'm half-naked.”

“Only half hardly seems fair,” the demoness cooed, grinning as she watched her mate flush instantly at the comment. She brushed her lips against her Pretty's pulse point, “Especially when I could watch that blush grow across your entire body.”

The younger quickly buried her face into her hands, trying to hide away the chronic embarrassment that seemed to have engulfed her form. She knew, no matter how hard she tried, her overly forward mate was always going to have this effect on her. She blushed even harder when Damon took her hands within her own, “Stop trying to make me blush!”

“Trying?” Damon said with a laugh, bushing her slender fingers against rosy cheeks, “Oh Pretty One, you've already lost that game. I rarely have to try if I want you to turn that lovely shade of red.”

Kairi tried to scowl, but she found it hard to hold when Damon started kissing away at the pout.

“So cute when you try to be tough” the demoness whispered into her mate's ear, earning her shiver in response, “but I'm always going to win, Pretty, you know that.”

The mortal hit Damon's shoulder playfully, “You only win because you cheat.”

Damon smirked, “Are you still sore because I won at our game of tag?” She touched her lips to the back of her tender white skin, “because I would be more then willing to offer you a rematch, Little One. I was rather fond of the way our first match ended.”

Kairi squirmed anxiously as Damon wrapped a possessive arm around her waist. She looked up into intense crimson pools shyly, hypnotic eyes holding her own captive as they stood so closely.

“So astoundingly sexy you are, Pretty One, when you're all flushed in pleasure under me” Damon whispered huskily, “all those beautiful sounds you make…”

Ivory skin heated instantly, “Damon…”

“Mmm, especially when you call my name like that… your voice in sinful, Pretty. Almost as sinful as those wicked fingers…” Damon teased lustfully, leaning in to kiss along the smooth expanse of the younger's collarbone. A grin spread over her lips as her mate's body constricted under the touch, her body still overly sensitive from their most recent act. It was amazing how incredibly responsive her Pretty became after orgasm… it was like every nerve ending would stand on end, begging to be lulled into submission.

Kairi moved back unconsciously as her impulses started to trigger against the soft touch. Her body still felt on fire. She was drained in every sense of the word, and she knew her… sexual stamina was nowhere even close to that of Damon's.

Damon kissed each of her mate's knuckled tenderly, “But it'll get there, Pretty, just you wait…”

Damn those mind-reading powers.

Kairi turned ten shades of red, “Do you have to listen to everything?”

“I don't have to,” the demoness replied with a toothy grin, “but I like to know what's running through your pretty head. It's how I look after you.” She ran her hand against the youth's side, “It's how I know you're hurting, even when you don't tell me yourself.”

Flaxen locks fell in front of curious eyes, “Can I ask you a question?”

“You don't even have to ask, Pretty One.”

Kairi looked up hesitantly, “Can all demons do that? Read minds, I mean…” She fumbled with what to do with her hands, but was quickly reassured as Damon led them to her hips. She shivered as slender digits ran over her own hands teasingly.

“Worried about who else might be taking a look?” the demon whispered softly. She chuckled as her mate looked at the ground almost immediately. Using her finger she tilted the youth's face back up to meet hers, “Always trying to hide those beautiful blue eyes from me…”

The mortal dug her toes into the ground absentmindedly, willing herself to keep the gaze while still maintaining her mind frame. It was one of the reason's she found herself avoiding those seductive ruby eyes - their magnetic quality. Every time she found herself face to face with those crimson pools she could feel every ounce of coordination and willpower leave her body, as if somebody had just cut the strings to her control. She had already made the prognosis that it was not a good thing to have her brain shut down everytime Damon looked at her. Making eye contact alone was hard enough, but having to make it with a personified sex god was impossible.

Damon chuckled, brushing her lips against her mate's ear, “So I'm a sex god now… you flatter me, Pretty One.”

Kairi's eyes widened dramatically, blushing from ear to ear as her mind was once again violated. Her voice got caught in her throat as she tried to figure out some way to defend herself against Damon's intrusive powers.

If this could be any more embarrassing…

“Aw, no need to be embarrassed” Damon purred softly.

Kairi stomped her foot against the ground in frustration, stepping back from the elder woman that was looking so amused. She jabbed her finger into Damon's shoulder, “Stop doing that! It's not fair.” She mentally kicked herself for how childish her last remark sounded, but honestly, it really wasn't fair, right?

Damon spread out her wings to their full length, stretching them from their cramped position as she looked upon her pouting mate. She leaned forward, infatuated with the colour that rested upon pallor cheeks, “You're so cute when you sulk, Pretty One.” She was about to place a kiss on those lips until her mate stepped back in avoidance. Crimson eyes blinked, feeling the spot on her forehead that lightning fast fingers had just flicked, “You just hit me.”

The smaller tried her best to stay strong under powerful eyes, “I wanted to get your attention.”

Damon grinned, “You always have my attention, Pretty, no worries there. I never thought I'd see the day where someone flicked me though.” She wrapped her wings around the precious youth, “Whipped, stabbed, burned, mutilated… but never flicked. This would be a first.”

“So… does that mean you're going to stop?”

“Mm, no.”

The white-haired youth bristled inwardly, “But why?! If you need to ask me something you could just ask, it's not like I wouldn't tell you.”

Damon slipped an arm around her mate's lithe waist, “You really want to know why?”

Kairi nodded.

“Feeling what you feel is how I look after you, Pretty One” Damon whispered affectionately into her ear, “It is not about what you are thinking, it is about how you are feeling; even you must see that our perception is still very different when it comes to certain matters. Especially the aspects of… physicality.”

The mortal dug her toes into the ground wearily.

“We don't feel things the same way, Pretty One. You--” the demon reminded with a smile, “do not usually tell me when you are unsure or upset, because you are so shy.” She brushed her fingers through pale silken locks gingerly, “But I am partially to blame for that as well; sometimes I tend to forget how differently you see the world in comparison to myself. Sometimes you confuse me just as much as I confuse you… and that is why this link can't be broken.”

Kairi whimpered softly when Damon circled around tender bite marks with her canines, “But Da--”

“That” Damon whispered huskily, “and I like to know all the best ways to touch you…”

Kairi took a couple steps back, trying to will away the flush that had spread over cheeks even though all she wanted to do was be annoyed for a little while longer. She sighed; it was too hard to stay angry with Damon… and being honest, she just didn't have the heart for it. Blue eyes scanned the cold metal room, “Insatiable…”

The demon grinned widely, “I prefer `lover'”.

The youth smiled brightly through her blush, “Well, Lover, should we… continue the tour? We never did finish it…” She squeaked in surprise when her lips were suddenly pulled into an intense kiss, barely noticing that Damon's hand had slipped into hers. She eyelids fluttered in blissful shock; she had been unaware of how strongly her mate would react to her choice in names.

Damon pulled away slightly, licking her lips as to fully drink in the vanilla taste that lingered there, “Sounds so sexy coming from you, Pretty One… every word that comes out of those beautiful, pouting lips.”

Flaxen locks fell in front of shy eyes. She would have defended herself against the `pouting lips' statement, but she knew whatever she said was just going to be twisted into some perverted lie.

Damon grinned, “Perver--” She was quickly silenced when Kairi's hand pressed firmly against her mouth, muffling the remainder of what she was going to say. Crimson eyes looked at the youth in clear amusement.

“If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all”. She jumped back when Damon licked her palm, rubbing her hand against her jeans as if she had just caught the plague.

The demon took her mate's free hand and started to lead them towards the door, “I always say nice things about you, Pretty, you just never take them as compliments.”

Kairi took a deep breath as they re-entered the familiar hallway, still bare and stoically silent as was before they entered the envisioning room. It was pleasantly cool against her warm skin, aiding in the removal of the flush that seemed to be permanently stamped on her face. With fingers entangled, she let herself be lead around the remaining areas of interest, Damon consistently pointing out every room and place that was of importance.

“You alright, Pretty One?”

The younger looked up, realizing that she had unconsciously been leaning her head against Damon's shoulder as they walked along. She offered a smile, “Yeah, I'm alright. Tired…”

“Then we should head back” Damon said, already halfway turned around as she finished the statement. She was stopped when her mate tugged on her head in obstinacy. Liquid eyes met ocean blue, seeking the answer as to why the young one didn't want to return to their quarters.

Kairi brushed white strands out of her eyes, “We should… continue. Sleep can wait till later.”

“So can this tour,” Damon pointed out flatly.

Soft hues hit the floor but then looked back up determinedly, “I… want to know about where you live -- this place. I'm never going to know if you don't show me.” In her head, she was kicking herself mentally. Self-assertion - there were a million reasons she could coax herself not to do it… but she could try, right?

The raven-haired female brought her mate close, brushing her lips tenderly over her jaw line, “You live here too, Pretty One, don't forget.” She smiled softly as the youth buried her head against her shoulder attentively, soft white locks meshing against midnight strands. Her brow furrowed slightly when anguish seeped into her link. She opened her mouth to speak, but Kairi cut off the question before it had a chance to be spoken.

“Please don't ask…”

Damon sighed, “Pretty One--”

“I'll tell you later” Kairi said softly, an almost inaudible voice, “I promise.” This was supposed to be such a good day… and she refused to let it be ruined because off her own insecurities. She had been doing that enough lately…

The demon shook her head softly, running her fingers through flaxen locks in attempt to coax the youth into a temporary submission. Crimson eyes widened slightly when she felt those petal-soft lips brush against her shoulder, looking down to the subtle desperation that had etched itself over innocent features.

“Please…”

Damon's eyes instantly softened at the gentle tone of her mate's voice, slipping her arm around slender hips. She sighed blissfully; her mate really was changing her. She would have never let anyone else get away with trying to hide a secret from her… but she would let her little one get away with it because she made a promise. If it had been anyone else, there was no way in hell that would have been good enough.

Kairi never let her eyes drift from Damon's shoulder, knowing that if their eyes met she would crumble under the intensity.

There was a long silence between the two, tensions there, but remaining unspoken.

The demoness let out a calm sigh, resting her chin against the youth's pristine white locks, “What is this hold you have on me, Pretty One?” She tilted her mate's chin up with her fingers and smiled, “It seems I have fallen prey to you instead of the other way around.”

Kairi offered a smile of her own, which somehow ended with her lips being pressed against the elder's. She blinked from surprise before letting herself fall into the warmth of Damon's lips. Her cheeks coloured instantly; Damon changed moods so easily, it was hard to tell what was running through her mind sometimes.

Damon kissed her mate's cheek before leading them away down another corridor. When they came to an intersection, she pondered on which way to take them.

The youth gazed upon the raven-haired woman thoughtfully before turning to stare down the left-hand hallway wearily. A shiver ran through her spine as the darkness enclosing the passage seemed to wrap around her frame, unconsciously pushing her to move closer to Damon. Her grip on Damon's hand tightened.

“Pretty One? What's wrong?”

Kairi slowly tore her eyes away from the opposing wall. She bit her lip softly, “What's… what's down this hallway?”

A small smile pulled at her lips, “That, Pretty, is the hall leading down to the basement level.” Damon kissed her mate's shoulder tenderly, “There are many rooms fashioned for sexual enjoyment; playrooms of sorts.”

Blue eyes couldn't leave the shadows that seemed to move in the distance. She blinked repeatedly, clearing her mind of the hallucinations, and peered back into the darkness. Although her eyes detected nothing but black against cemented stone, her stomach twisted in apprehension. Her teeth dug into her bottom lip roughly.

Damon pulled her attention away from her Pretty's neck, resting her hands gently against her forearms, “You're warm, Pretty One.”

“Damon--”

The demoness hushed the youth by kissing her firmly, “No arguing, Pretty One, we are heading back to our chambers.” She slipped her right hand up to her Pretty's forehead, frowning as hot skin touched her own, “You're getting sick.”

Kairi pulled away, “I'm fi--” She shivered when Damon growled lowly against her neck, as if warning her not to finish that sentence. Her eyes fell to the ground, and her toes dug into the marble ground anxiously, “Sorry…”

Damon swept the little one of her feet, smiling at the yelp of surprise that escaped her mate's lips. She held the squirming form tightly in her arms, folding her wings against her back calmly.

“But I don't feel sick” Kairi protested weakly, trying to break free of the demon's iron grip. She pressed her hand against her forehead as to try and take her own temperature, “And I'm not that warm…”

Damon gave her such a piercing look that she back down immediately.

Kairi stopped struggling, blue-eyes immediately hitting the floor as crimson ones seared her very form. She didn't know what to do as she lay there in Damon's arms, anxiety bubbling in the pit of her stomach as her mate continued to walk them along the maze of corridors. Flaxen hair fell limply in front of her face, shadowing the solemn features from view.

Damon pushed open the doors to her chambers, shifting the youth in her arms and positioning her mate on the bed. She walked over to one of the dressers and pulled out a set of black silken nightwear, “They may be a little big on you, Pretty, but they should be okay for now.” As she approached the lithe form on the bed, she noticed how suddenly tense the younger was.

Slender arms wrapped around her knees, fingers pressed tightly against the insides of her legs.

Kairi knew that Damon was angry with her… that the elder was frustrated about her lack of cooperation in both physical and mental aspects of her sickness. But she didn't know how to tell Damon that she wasn't feeling that sick - that despite being warm, she actually felt really cold. She mentally sighed, realizing that the argument she had just proposed was a losing one no matter how she went around it. A shiver ran through her form as Damon trailed her fingers across her cheek.

“I could never be angry with you, Little One” Damon reassured softly, “I just wish you would tell me more things without me having to pry into your mind to find them out. You should be able to trust me, Pretty, with everything.”

“I do” Kairi replied instantly, “I - I want to, I try…” She closed her eyes gently, trying to find the words that refused to formulate in her mouth, “Really I do… It's just - I'm not used to it yet; telling someone everything.”

The demoness crawled onto the bed, kneeling directly in front of the flushed youth with affectionate eyes. She placed the clothing on her mate's lap, “You are used to hiding.”

The mortal nodded slowly, “I'm sorry, Lover…” Azure eyes turned up in apology, “Please don't be upset with me…” She winced when Damon tenderly threaded her fingers into her hair, brushing away the strands that had fallen in front of her eyes. Her face was turned up gently and there lips met instantly.

Damon nipped the youth's lower lip teasingly, “You never have to be sorry for being you, Little One.” She grinned seductively, “There are better ways to occupy time then being angry, do you not agree?”

It was then that Kairi became aware of how overly flushed her skin was becoming. She hid her face against the demon's shoulder, trying to hide away the flaming touch from her mate. Mentally, she hit herself for doing yet another thing to hide from her lover… She turned her head up slightly, watching the smooth expanse of Damon's tan skin stretch slightly.

Damon took immediate notice of her mate's fluctuating temperature, “Lie back, Pretty.”

Kairi couldn't will her body away from Damon's, the sticky heat adhering her in position. She looked up half-heartedly, “Why?”

The raven-haired demon smiled softly, straddling her mate's hips slowly. Taking the youth's shoulders, she carefully pushed her mate back until she was lying flatly against the bed, “Because you are sick.” She picked up the nightwear that lay forgotten against the sheets, “and because it is easier to change you laying down.”

Kairi protested weakly, “But I can do that…”

Damon leaned down, “And miss my chance to undress you, Pretty One?” She pressed a kiss to parted lips, “not a chance.”

Pallid hair flared around Kairi's face, creating a halo around her that made her flushed skin stand out significantly. She offered a faint smile to her mate; she couldn't tell if she was blushing because of the fever or because of Damon's actions. Her mind reminded her that it was probably both; it also reminded her of how little her body was able to handle physically right now.

The demoness slipped her fingers under Kairi's shirt, only to come to a sudden halt when a pained whimper left her mate's lips. Crimson eyes softened at the trembling voice of her shy partner, “It's all right, Pretty One, just relax.” She watched as the youth took in a shaky deep breath, “just relax…”

The mortal shivered as Damon peeled her shirt away from her form. She looked up at Damon anxiously.

“Just you and me, Pretty” the demoness reassured, spreading her wings as to blanket them both under a veil of shadow. She helped the little one manoeuvre into black silken linens, mentally noting how the material hung loosely off her shoulders and hung way past the pads of her fingers. She kissed here mate's cheek softly as she unbuttoned torn and tattered jeans softly, hushing the younger as she whimpered against the touch, “It's okay…”

Kairi lifted her hips as Damon pulled away the garment. She couldn't even begin to describe how foolish she felt, lying there sick after such a beautiful night spent under the stars. When she looked up, her blue eyes contracted slightly; she had never seen such a sombre look on Damon before… such a look of - hurt?

It seemed so unnatural on such a strong and confident woman; a woman who, as Bellany had said before, knew nothing of fear.

Kairi withheld a cough, offering a soft smile instead, “You never a-answered my question, Lover.”

Damon smirked, laying herself down on the bed and wrapping her arms around her mate's waist possessively, “And which question was that, Pretty One?”

The mortal twisted around in the grip so that she was facing her intense lover, “Can only you read my mind? Or can others do that too?” She nuzzled into Damon's shoulder with a soft sigh, “Might as well know now…”

The elder chuckled, knowing full well that her Pretty One was trying to keep her mind preoccupied with other things then her sickness. She breathed in that beautiful vanilla scent and was instantly lured into a temporary submission; how easily she fell into that lull again. She brushed her lips against her Pretty's ear, “Should I call up Shandi from her quarters? Then you could see for yourself.”

Kairi wrapped her arms around Damon possessively, “No.”

Crimson eyes glowed brightly in amusement, “Is this that green-eyes monster I see, Pretty?” She wrapped her wings around the youth, bringing the lithe form even closer to hers. A smile spread over her lips as her mate's small body unconsciously shifted closer to her body.

Kairi was now sure that she was blushing through the preamble of her fever, but couldn't find the energy to respond to Damon's taunt. She settled for mumbling some incoherent comeback against the bronzed skin instead.

The demon sighed softly as she felt her mate's overheating skin press against her own, running her fingers soothingly through flaxen locks, “But to answer, Pretty One, no; they can't read your mind. Very few demons are born with that ability.” She brushed her lips over petal-soft ones tenderly, watching the mortal with strict intensity. Her hands lowered only to pull the sheets up over her mate's body.

The bed shook as the younger female coughed spastically.

With half-lidded azure eyes, Kairi looked up to her troubled mate, “…Shouldn't be so close… if I'm sick… you'll get sick…” her head lolled against her mate's shoulder as to completely contradict what she had just said. She wanted for Damon to stay with her… but at the same time, she didn't want to infect her mate with whatever she had contracted. Her head spun. She didn't think it was possible to feel this grotesque in such a short amount of time, especially after she had been feeling so good a few hours ago.

Damon let her fingers wander over the flushed skin of her Little One's cheek, “You don't have to worry about me, Pretty One. I have not been sick once in my entire life.”

Kairi wanted to ask about how that was humanly possible when her foggy brain reminded her of the obvious; Damon wasn't a human. She poked her finger into the demon's side, “S'not fair.”

Damon chuckled as she listened to Kairi mentally curse the frailty of her human form, even her internal voices sounding less-threatening as they were influenced by the sickness. She kissed her mate's brow, “I know”. She laid a pattern of butterfly kisses from the youth's mouth to neck, “But I am sorry, Little One. Taking you out in the cold for so long was not a good idea… sometimes I forget that you are different than I.”

“Not your fault…” the sticky youth replied, “wanted to watch stars… be with you…”

The demoness clung to her little lover as a cough rattled the lithe form, “Save your voice, Pretty, I know it hurts…”

Despite the outward appearance of being very calm, Damon was struggling with the alien feelings that were spreading throughout her body. It felt so bad to see her mate struggling like this, obviously in fair discomfort; a discomfort that she didn't know how to fix. `Bad' was not an emotion she was particularly used to feeling - she hated it. Of course she had seen sickness in the many times she had visited the mortal realm, but she paid it very little attention seeing as it was something she would never have to face herself. But now that her lover had contacted something, she found herself wishing that she had observed the phenomenon a little more vividly. This feeling - this feeling of self-dissatisfaction that was spreading like fire through her veins - it stung worse then any physical blow she had ever received.

“Too… hot…” Kairi whimpered, pushing her body away from Damon's. The youth was barely even aware of anything she did anymore, caught somewhere in between delirium and sleep. All she knew was that her body felt like it was being roasted over a pit-fire, and that she needed to put distance between anything that would stoke the internal heat.

Damon brushed away some of the sticky strands that were pasted to her mate's forehead. A frown spread over her lips at the temperature the smaller one was exuding. Was is normal for mortals to get sick so quickly? She couldn't be sure. Damon sat up slowly, turning her legs out of the bed as she prepared to leave. She had to go and get something to bring down her mate's sky rocketing body temperature.

The demon was caught by surprise when slender digits wrapped around her wrist like silken velvet.

Kairi's eyes parted softly, but they closed just as quickly. She flinched, “Don' leave…”

Crimson eyes softened considerably, dipping down to kiss the youth's collar gently, “I will be back, Pretty, I promise. You are getting too flushed.” Her fingers intermingled with her mate's, “Sleep, Pretty Angel, sleep…”

Kairi surrendered to the lull of the voice, azure eyes slowly falling into the same uneasy contentment. A troubled sigh left her parted lips, “Please don' go…” She forehead crinkled, “Please…”

Hesitation.

The word sounded so weak and powerless, and yet it was the alien feeling that had somehow managed to creep under her commanding exterior. She was Damon Hitomi; feared demoness, and heiress to title of nobility among her people. Hesitation was for the feeble and weak minded - yet here she was. Stricken under the sight of her suffering mate, willing to perform even the most menial tasks if it would sooth the younger's soul. She pressed her fingers through silken white hair, smiling as the form relaxed under her touch; so beautiful.

Kairi kicked away the sheets from her body, the offending garments soon pooling around her bare feet. She didn't pull away from Damon's touch this time though, her subconscious pooling every effort to get her lover to stay with her.

Damon tucked stay strands of hair behind her mate's ear, leaning down to kiss the skin tenderly, “You are safe with me, Pretty One… let me take care of you.” She stretched her wings out to there full expanse, “I'll protect you from everything; I promise.” She slowly pulled her hand away from the youth's burning skin, “Cool cloth, Little One. I'll only be gone for a moment.”

The mortal cracked her eyes open, “'Kay.” She slipped her own hand up, pushing away the locks of hair that were so content in sticking to her forehead.

The elder slipped away from the bed and into the bathroom, pulling out a washcloth from one of many shelves. Turning on the water, she pushed the fabric under it hastily. It was odd to her that even though she was only in the next room, she felt so far away from her little one.

Having a mate was doing something to her; something that she didn't account for even after many years of watching the youth in her mortal realm. She had been drawn to her Pretty One's innocent stature; the shy nature that inhabited such a sexual form. The pleasure she got just from watching that slender form was enough to send her into a lustful frenzy. But now, something had changed.

It had become something more then physical.

That timid smile, that innocent blush, the way her body fit so perfectly into her own… the way that her Pretty's voice sounded, so shy and diffident. That kindling laugh that caused her spine to prickle uncharacteristically.

Damon yearned for it; and there lied the flustering truth.

Everything that she had ever wanted, she took without a second glance. It was the way of her world, sown into the very fabric that made up her existence. Pleasure, pain, wealth, death… all of these things she could force upon those who resisted her. Everything was for her own gain; nothing given back.

Kairi - her beautiful mate - was the only known exception.

Because she could not force her Pretty One to laugh in the same way that she could not force her to smile. She couldn't force it because she didn't want it to be forced. She wanted to watch those innocent features blossom naturally… because that is what made them so beautiful. Knowing that she could make Kairi smile, even after the suffering the mortal world had done onto her… it was like a form of liquid ecstasy.

Damon shut off the tap, wringing out the towel quickly. She looked at herself in the mirror for a second before smirking; how over analyzing she had become.

A cry suddenly came from the bedroom, but it was quickly muffled into a sound that was almost inaudible.

Damon dropped the towel, slamming the door behind her as she entered her chamber once again. Her lips peeled back into a feral growl, crimson eyes burning with furious intensity as she gazed upon the room's content.

Sheets had been thrown about everywhere, black and red littering the floor, signs of the obvious struggle that had taken place. And amongst the chaos of items stood her mate, wide eyed and frightened as she was pinned against a male demon's larger body.

Kairi whimpered against the hand that was being held firmly against her mouth, arms restrained easily by the two leathery appendages that sprouted from the male's mid back. A crimson line of blood seeped over her right eye from the gash that had been inflicted on her forehead during the struggle.

Damon snarled ferally, baring her sharp canines with a seething intensity, “Get the fuck away from her!” Her wings spread to their full length as she took a threatening step forward. She was stopped, however, when her mate let out a pained whimper.

Sadistic yellow eyes met crimson idly, “Nice of you to join us, Damon…” His voice was nothing more then a heavy dark hiss that breached blue cracked lips, “Your fuck toy was being rather unaccommodating in your absence… I thought you would have taught her some manners by now.”

Rage was barely constrained at this point, her clawed fingers cracking in hostility. The only thing holding her back from tearing the demon's head open was the shaking body between them, “Get your fucking hands off her before I remove them myself!”

The man slipped ran his hand over the mortal's stomach teasingly, “You mean this hand? The one that'll skewer her before you even make it have the distance to me? You might want to reconsider, friend.” He rested his chin on the smaller girl's shoulder, observing the feral with amusement as she held back her fury. A grin split his lips, “Is this all it takes to tame you, Damon? Your precious human slut?”

Damon growled dangerously, “Who the fuck sent you?”

He licked his lips, “You got your warning, Damon, and did nothing with it. You failed to dispose of your little mortal whore, and now it will be done for you.” Yellow eyes gleamed, “But do not worry too much… Valon wishes to meet the human that has brought you to your knees before he kills her. Perhaps he will be merciful.”

Kairi whimpered at his cruel laugh, tears streaking he cheeks as she looked out to Damon who could do nothing but stand there. A cough rattled her form, sickly heat coagulating inside her body until she could no longer muster the strength to fight against the iron grip. Her gaze met Damon's pleadingly.

“Valon” Damon snarled, her eyes growing darker with every passing minute. She snapped her head back up when she saw the unknown male's hand travel across her mate's stomach in a firm grip. Her lips peeled back in a show of teeth.

The demonic man lifted his alternate hand away from Kairi's mouth, “We're leaving now; say goodbye to your precious lover.”

“You are not going anywhere with her!” Damon growled, rushing forward.

Yellow teeth formed a sadistic smirk, “Say goodbye now.”

“Damon!”

The demoness ran forward, reaching out, only to be met by a cloud of billowing grey smoke where her mate used to be. Crimson eyes dilated in unadulterated fury, her hand ploughing into the wall that used to be so close to the demonic captor. Her voice unfurled in a scream of fury that could have torn apart the heaven's themselves. Leather wings spread, patterns glowing like blood rubies as the demon snarled her frustration.

They had gotten Kairi.

After everything Shandi had told her, after all that she had gone through to keep her mate safe, she had still been played. She had left some two-bit demon spawn alone with a feverish mortal; and now she was gone.

Valon Avertick.

Valon Avertick had sent that spy.

Valon Avertick had her mate.

Valon Avertick was a fucking dead man.
