It’s a warm, sticky night and Belle can’t sleep. The
usual she thinks to herself as she rolls to one side and drops her
feet to the wooden planked floors. Even they seems sweaty. She
begins pacing, thinking about what she needs to do in the morning,
but more importantly how to avoid Gustavo while doing them. She had
had enough of his impetuous groping and harassment for a date.
Gustavo thinks that if he flexes enough Belle will swoon at his
feet and agree to date him, and eventually marry. All Gustavo
thinks about is getting a beautiful wife. I want to be more than
that! I want to know true love! Belle thought to herself.
“Some day” was all she whispered before heading out for
some early chores.
LATER that day Belle is nearly finished with her rather short to-do list. I’ll miss Gustavo! I won’t even see him! How … “Ugh!” Belle let out a gasp as she ran straight into Gustavo’s chest. Taking a step back she looks up at him with her deep, soft brown eyes. Almost… she thinks to herself as she’s face to face with her least favorite person. “Oh, I’m sorry Gustavo! I didn’t even see you.” She glances at the floor trying to avoid eye contact. Gustavo could be scary and the last thing she needed was for him to turn on her.
“Oh, the most beautiful Belle, my dear, my sweet. When will you let me take you out? You know I can treat you right!” he chuckles as he draws Belle in by the waste, lowering his hands to her rump “Hmmmm, Belle? You’re daddy even likes me!”
No he does not! She thinks to herself, infuriated and out spills what she’s always wanted to say to him “Oh Gustavo! I will NEVER date you. You’re not my type, you oaf!” She instantly regretted saying her true feelings as she watched Gustavo’s face change from a bad come-on to pure rage. He raised his hand high above her head, like a tower in the sky, one about to fall. He brings his fist down, down, down nearing her face when suddenly it stops. A small weak hand clenches Gustavo’s wrist, Belle’s father.
“Please, Gustavo! Don’t do this! She doesn’t mean any of it! She’s only upset! Today is the day we lost her mother! Please she’s merely upset!” her father begs and pleads with the ruthless man, lying to save his only family from knowing pain.
“Fine! I won’t hit your precious daughter, but if I ever see her around my town again. She’s done.” Gustavo huffed as he turned away and pounded back into the town center.
“Belle go home. Now. I’ll meet you there soon. There’s someone I need to see.” her says breathily as he turns away and runs into the distance, away from town, toward the haunted castle.
IT’S getting late Belle worried as the sun had set hours ago and yet her father had still not returned. What will I do? Where will I go? I can not stay here! Gustavo will kill me for sure! Belle continues to pace the main room of their small home, almost wearing a groove in the floor. she peers outside once more, looking for her beloved father, when she sees him! Belle bursts out of the front door and runs to her father. “Father! Father! What will I do! I’m so foolish!!” tears are forming on her cheeks.
