Chapter 5: Goodbye, Endymion
By: Ceris Malfoy
LAST TIME:
Mars was about to retaliate, but before she could Mercury burst through the door screaming, "We're fucked! We're fucked!" at the top of her lungs. She was waving her compact computer around in the air like a wild woman, looking completely undone and... well, about as un-Mercury-ish as possible.
Mars turned away to speak to the figure, only to find that the woman was gone...along with the shadows that had covered her.
Startled, she did the only thing she could do. She turned back to Mercury. "What do you mean 'we're fucked'?"
NOW:
Mercury collapsed, crying hysterically as the data ran through her head over and over again. Mars couldn't comprehend this. Mercury was never like this! Mercury was the calm one, the intelligent one, and her she was, acting like Usagi of all people!
"What," she started, "is so wrong, that you would demean yourself to having hysterics?"
Endymion sneered at Mercury. "Really, Mars, why do you even bother? She's weak, she's always been weak, and will never have an ounce of hardness to her. She was born weak, she will die weak. It's a matter of genetics after all."
Mars didn't even bother to reply to the statement. She glared at him, then turned back towards her friend...
...and stopped dead.
Mercury was glaring at Endymion with all the power at her disposal. And considering that of all of them, Mercury was the only one who was close to being crowned Queen, was alot. She turned towards Mars and raised a delicate eyebrow. Mars nodded, opened up her communicator, and pressed the 'all call' button. Pops resounded as all the senshi teleported to the room. Mars stood, and held out her hand to Mercury.
Mercury shook her head, and rose on her own accord.
"You," she started, her voice as cold as the ice that was her power, "know nothing. You are the weak one, Endymion. You have no conviction. You are a betrayer. You are an asshole. And what's more," her voice deepened, and a brittle sound entered, "you are vile unto myne eyes. I wash my hands of you."
Mars turned towards Endymion. It was her turn. "Ever since I had become a senshi, I had fought hard for the purity of my world. I have fought for love and for justice. I have dealt with incompetence and bitterness from my leader, and still was secure in the knowledge that things would turn out alright in the end." She paused. "Usagi promised me that. She promised that, no matter what, she would have my back. We all," she gestured at the senshi in the room, "have made that same oath. That, no matter what, we would protect the world together. But throughout my years as a senshi, I have watched as you proved time and time again that you are a person of the worst sort. You are jealous. You are incompetent. You are a fool. And still, we have protected you, for the simple fact that you were Serenity's betrothed." She stopped and took a breath. "But no more. You are vile unto myne eyes. I wash my hands of you."
Venus stepped forward. "I was the last of us senshi to join, though the first to be awakened. And for the first time in my life, I had a family. My friends supported me, and my cousin loved me, and what more could I ask for than for her to be happy? You cheated on her, used her, and then tossed her away." She paused. "When I found out that Usagi wasn't Princess Serenity, I was crushed. But I still would have followed her 'til the end. Until Mars found a trace of evil in her. I couldn't believe it. This vibrant person that loved me and was so similar to me, had no clue about the pain that she would inflict upon this world. The darkness grew rapidly within her, and I could find no one, nothing that could have caused such a rapid decent." She raised her eyes and glared at the prince. "Except for you. Every insult, every threat, every betrayal only served to increase her darkness, until even I could no longer recognize my Usagi. You took her from me. You are a thief. You are a coward. And what is more, you have no loyalty." She sneered. "You are vile unto myne eyes. I wash my hands of you."
Uranus was next. "I never really bonded with Usagi. But even I could see what you were doing to her. But to me, it is your betrayal of the code of honor that a defender of Earth should uphold until the very end that disgusts me. You have broken every vow that you have made. You are an oath-breaker. You are vile unto myne eyes. I wash my hands of you."
Neptune followed. "You think those who feel and those who have intelligence are weak because they do not act like you: they do not accuse others unjustly, they do not use others piteously for they're own gain, they do not betray those they gave they're loyalty to. You have demeaned everything that we stand for and I, for one, hope you get what's yours. You are a liar. You are a braggart. You are vile unto myne eyes. I wash my hands of you!"
Jupiter stepped forward. "I could be as tough as I wanted. As brutal, or soft, or girly, or loving as I wanted. And you still wanted nothing to do with me. You used me to hurt Usagi, corrupting her even worse than she already had been when we forced her to go against her very nature and kill. We are partially to blame for what she has become, but you carry most of the blame. You have destroyed the loveable child that I have come to know and love. Now we must destroy her, or all is lost. You are a deceiver. You are most unclean." She paused, wiping away her tears. "You are vile unto myne eyes. I wash my hands of you."
Pluto never moved. "These senshi have no clue about the true depth of your crimes, Endymion. But know this; I do. I have seen inside your heart. I have watched you with Usagi, knowing that no matter how the others condoned it, you were still a 25-year-old (1) dating a 14-year-old. What's worse, you coerced her into doing things that no fourteen-year-old should be doing. I have long wished for a way to stop you, but the very nature of my power demanded I let time move in her stately march." She wiped her eyes. "You have stolen my belief that man is inherently good. You have stolen the light that was Usagi. I, too, would have followed her through Hell and back, for she was the only light in my life. But you stole that, and now the only light left to me is insane. You are vile unto myne eyes. I wash my hands of you."
Then, to the surprise of every senshi, and even Endymion, it was Saturn who spoke next. "I have never, ever truly felt comfortable with this group, not even my adoptive mothers. All of the senshi were pure and strong; yet I was fragile, and had this darkness inside of me that they refused to comprehend. But Usa-mama loved me for who I was, darkness and all. She recognized in me the will to be as strong as any of the senshi, and fight for the greater good, even though I fought with different methods than the senshi. She was the only one to truly love me. Not even Chibi-Usa did. And I couldn't get over it. Here was a woman so warm, so gentle, who, despite being forced to kill when her very nature was to heal, could still smile and pig out, and have a normal life. A woman who was kind and loving. It seemed wrong to me that her daughter possessed hardly any of these qualities. And then it hit me. You are what went wrong. You polluted Chibi-Usa, and nearly destroyed completely my Usa-mama." Saturn sneered at the rest of the senshi before turning back to Endymion. "I knew that she was could not be evil the second he continued to love me. She is dark, so very dark, but not evil. And even if she were, I would still follow her unto the ends of time. You, Endymion, are stupid. You are unwise. You are unworthy of the throne. You are vile unto myne eyes. I wash my hands of you."
She turned abruptly, and walked over to the back of the room where that strange new woman waited. The woman smiled softly at Saturn, before they both disappeared...
...but not before the woman looked at Endymion with her triple-colored eyes, and said, "You are vile unto myne eyes. I wash my hands of you."

There was a flash of light and then Endymion was seemingly dragged out of the room by invisible means.
Once he was gone, all the senshi relaxed and detransformed.
"Now," Rei said, turning towards Ami. "Perhaps, you can tell us what's going on?"
Ami blushed.
Alright. That's done. And it's extra long as an apology.
