The Great Super Saiyan 5: As usual, I'll (reluctantly) do a disclaimer.

Disclaimer: I refuse to claim ownership of any materials in this fic unless I actually own them. I don't wanna get sued!

Kaerlos: All he owns involving this fic is me, the events of the fic that he made up, and the fic itself.

TGSS5: Thanks for clearing that up for the readers. By the way, how have you felt after you finished with Buu?

Kaerlos: More relaxed. Less frustrated. Like laughing maniacally. Et cetera.

TGSS5: Um... That's nice... *starts inching away from Kaerlos* Let's just start the chapter, okay?

-----------------------------------------------

Las t chapter ended with:
"So basically an A.G.W.S. is a giant motorized suit of armor?" Kaerlos asked when Shion was done.

"Well... sorta," Shion answered. "KOS-MOS gave me one after dinner yesterday. It's in the hangar."

"I don't think I'll check it out, since I think I saw one model just before I met you," Kaerlos said.

Things continued fairly normally after that, with only occasional incidents from Kaerlos, which were centered around KOS-MOS increasingly often, until the middle of their first gate jump.

Chapter 4
The Super Saiyans

The trip had been uneventful so far, except for Kaerlos's incidents. They were becoming increasingly common, little pranks on various people and slightly larger, more elaborate, and less serious pranks on KOS-MOS. In fact, the only person who seemed safe from pranks was Virgil. After the third day in a row of getting pranked, Shion decided to ask Vegeta for help. When she found him, he was busy cleaning up the aftermath of a confetti explosion, grumbling all the while. She opened a conversation by saying, "So Kaerlos pranked you, too, huh?"

Vegeta nodded and snarled, "Yeah, he pranks me twice a day. Little ones like confetti bombs and itching powder. C'mon, why not blow me up? I'd appreciate that a little more."

Shion tilted her head to the side. "Is there any significance to his pranks? He's pranked me every day for the last three days."

Vegeta nodded. "It's his way of showing he likes you. The more he pranks you, the more he likes you. 'Once for friendship, twice for brothers, three times for parents, more for lovers.' That's a short rhyme that shows his system of daily prank affection."

Shion nodded and said, "So let me get this straight. He thinks of me as a friend, and you as a brother?"

Vegeta said, "That's right. He is my brother, though he's about a decade and a half to two decades older. We Saiyans live a long time, assuming we don't find a way besides old age to die."

Shion blinked. "So how many people did you know that died in an unusual way?"

Vegeta sighed. "Nappa died because of me... Kakarot died twice, first time was by getting a hole shot through him and the second was suffocation after the planet he was on got destroyed... I died twice, first time was getting shot by a being called Frieza, second time was when I self-destructed against something called Majin Buu... Everyone on our Earth died when the planet was destroyed a little later... Raditz died at the same time as Kakarot's first death with the same cause... Bardock died when Frieza destroyed our home planet... Kaerlos died when he fought me at my best without going all out while I was being controlled... I could continue, but why should I?"

Shion was highly skeptical. "And how is it you're here if you died twice? In fact, how are any of you here? From what you said, all four of you guys died."

Vegeta smirked. "We've got a way of bringing dead people back to life, even if their bodies are destroyed. We've got objects called Dragonballs which can grant wishes when someone has the whole set."

Shion was about to answer when Kaerlos leaned into the room and said, "Hey you guys, they want us in the bridge. I decided to stop by and pick you up."

Vegeta was suspicious. "Is this another prank?" Kaerlos's shake of his head, combined with his unwavering serious expression, told him that no, this wasn't a prank. "All right, we'll be right out." Kaerlos withdrew his head, presumably to either wait for them or go to the bridge.

"How did you know he wasn't trying to prank you?" Shion asked.

Vegeta walked to the door and looked back, saying, "When it's for a prank the left corner of his mouth keeps twitching upwards. His mouth wasn't twitching. We'd better get going to see what the problem is."

"All right." The two exited the room and found that Kaerlos had waited for them. The trio then headed to the bridge, where they found that everyone on the ship had gathered to hear or see something, despite there usually being nothing to see in hyperspace.

"Whoa, look at those moves," Tony said, almost reverently. Kaerlos searched until he made out a small ship dodging fire from several other ships.

"Yeah, those are some pretty nice moves," Kaerlos reluctantly admitted.

"Hey, let's go help them!" Shion exclaimed, pointing at the lead ship.

"No way! I don't want any trouble," Matthews said.

A short argument ensued, with most of the Saiyans siding with Shion. Eventually, everyone looked at Kaerlos expectantly. When he realized they were waiting for his vote, Kaerlos sighed and, showing that Saiyans weren't always battle-hungry maniacs, said, "I think we should wait until they fire at us to get involved." The crew cheered and the other Saiyans groaned; pacifism won!

Things remained stable for a short time until one of the fighters shot the Elsa. "That does it!" Matthews shouted. "We're takin' them down!" They then started shooting down most of the fighters, trying not to aim at the one in the lead. Eventually the protected fighter was sent skidding along the bottom of the "warp tube". The passengers were probably saying their prayers or something of the sort when the Elsa's "catapult", really just a docking bay with an arm, grabbed their ship. When the crew tried to close it however, it got stuck halfway. One of the pursuing ships entered and started dropping drones throughout the ship. "Hey you guys, the catapult's stuck! Get your space suits on and come up!"

"It's okay, neither of us is human so we'll be fine," a deep voice answered.

"We're going down to escort them," Kaerlos said, indicating Shion, Bardock, Goku, Vegeta, KOS-MOS, and Virgil. All those indicated nodded.

"I'm coming too!" chaos said.

"Can you fight, chaos?" Goku asked.

"Yes, I can, Goku," chaos answered.

"Then we're agreed. Let's move out!" Kaerlos ordered. Everyone nodded, and the small army headed down the top floor's elevator- they barely fit in it- and proceeded towards the ladder leading to the bottom floor. Along the way, they ran into a robot walker.

"Scanners show that this machine matches the fighting capabilities of Virgil," KOS-MOS said.

"I can take it if I go all out," Bardock said.

"Not possible if you do not get a substantial boost in power."

"Oh yeah? Well, what do you think THIS is?" Bardock asked as his hair started standing up. Then his hair turned golden and his eyes turned turquoise as a gold aura surrounded him.

"Tch. We can do that, too, y'know," Vegeta said. Then he and Goku copied Bardock, ending up in a similar state.

"I may look a bit odd, but so what? I can do that," Kaerlos said as his hair stood up, then glowed blue. Then his hair turned blue while its glow died, his eyes turned turquoise, and a gold aura burst into life around him.

"Fascinating... Your power has increased to several times normal. What is this state called?" KOS-MOS asked.

"Super Saiyan. You've got something similar. I know it's unimaginative, but it's called 'battle mode'," Kaerlos said. "To turn it on, think 'Battle mode on', and to turn it off think 'Battle mode off'. Fair warning, though, this mode causes a substantial drain on your power reserves. I set it to run off the weapons engine, but it takes about 50% of its output. It does increase your overall power a lot, though." Then he turned to Bardock, who was already in a fighting stance- why the robot waited so long to attack no one knew. "Anytime you're ready, Bardock!"

At that, Bardock rushed forward and kicked the robot's left leg on its side. Surprisingly, it held, and the robot retaliated with a laser. Bardock almost blocked this, but the last bit of energy blasted him back. He flipped onto his feet at the last second possible, though, and flew up to punch the robot in the torso. Again, it held and countered with a laser. This time Bardock succeeded in blocking the laser, though the force pushed him back some, and he flew back in to kick the robot in almost the same spot he punched it. Now it was obvious that the robot had been dented. It then decided to add a little variety: it fired a gatling gun at him. He blocked the hail of bullets like it was a paintball before delivering a spin kick to the dented area. This broke through the robot's armor, but didn't reach any of its systems. Before the robot could react, Bardock drove his fist into the hole caused by his kick, pulverizing most of the systems. When he pulled his fist out, it collapsed.

After the robot had been defeated, Shion stared and asked, "How did you get so strong? Some of the things you can do are well beyond human limitations." She left out the other questions in her mind, but it was obvious that she hadn't asked them all yet. She wasn't projecting them so Kaerlos didn't know what the others were.

Bardock shrugged, saying, "Actually, I'm not that strong by their standards. I got as strong as I am by training with weighted clothes and increased gravity, sometimes both at once."

Kaerlos said, "A Saiyan is born a lot stronger than a human normally ever gets, though it tends to vary widely. There used to be four classes of Saiyans, but when I was born they had to make a new one. The classes are 3rd class, 2nd class, 1st class, elite, and Super Saiyan. Kakarot and Bardock are 3rd class, Vegeta's an elite and the official heir to the Saiyan throne, and my class is Super Saiyan. Any other questions?"

Shion nodded and said, "I had two, but one was answered just by observation. The other one is: Can you teach me to do that?"

Kaerlos looked at Bardock. "Your call. She hasn't seen our real capabilities yet."

Bardock glanced at Kaerlos before powering down and saying, "Let's see... Well, I think I could, assuming you live through this fight. If you live, I'll train you every day for as long as it takes to get you to at least my level. After that you're on your own. Deal?"

Shion nodded eagerly. "Deal!"

Everyone nodded, then resumed their rush to the ladder, reaching it without further incident. At the bottom and just outside the closet-like room they ended up in, they found a cyborg man with an apparent age of about 32 and a girl, about 10 to 13 by looks. "Hey, you guys the passengers of the ship we just took in?" Kaerlos asked while thinking, *Hmmm... no ki from either. They're androids, alright.*

The girl nodded and the cyborg said, "Yes, we are. We had to run through the enemies in this ship. They were too strong- as bad as fighting Gnosis without the Hilbert effect."

"Hey, lemme show you 'too strong'," Kaerlos said, seeing a few man-sized, approximately humanoid robots that had followed the cyborg. He moved at top speed to attack them, and finished before the cyborg could even turn his head. When he saw that the robots had been completely dismembered in less than half a second, Kaerlos said, "That's too strong." An arm was embedded in the wall from his attack, and a leg was dangling from its new home as part of the ceiling.

The cyborg nodded. "Yes, that is too strong. No one has a right to have that much power."

Shion said, "I suppose we should introduce ourselves. I'm Shion."

The cyborg nodded, saying, "My name is Ziggurat..." He trailed off, looked at the girl, nodded, and, turning back, said, "Call me Ziggy. And she's MOMO."

The rest of the group introduced themselves. Then Shion said, "Maybe we should work together to get the enemies off the ship. There could be something even more powerful than that walker we saw upstairs." All agreed except Vegeta, who didn't express an opinion on the matter. Ziggy and MOMO were curious about the walker, but put off asking about it.

"The mothership's near the hangar! Get rid of it so we can get rid of the drones," Matthews' voice said over the speaker. Everyone looked at each other, nodded, and followed Shion as she led the way to the hangar. When they reached it, with KOS-MOS and Kaerlos dismantling all the robots they met, they saw that the enemies had even taken it over.

"Let's get them out of the hangar, guys," Kaerlos said. Everyone nodded, and the Saiyans, KOS-MOS, and Virgil jumped down from the platform they were on while the others used a nearby lift to go down. One short scene of violence later, the machines were all dismantled, with the sole exception of the A.G.W.S. units that were in the hangar. "Y'know, that one looks familiar," Kaerlos commented, pointing at one of them.

Everyone looked at the A.G.W.S. in question. "You're right," Shion said. "It looks just like Virgil's did."

Virgil nodded. "Yeah, it does. I'm never piloting again, though- I don't need to."

chaos looked surprised at that. "How can you not need an A.G.W.S. with the enemies we're probably going to face? Size comes with power, after all."

Kaerlos glared at him. "You haven't been paying attention, have you? For Saiyans, it's 'power and speed despite size'. Right, guys?" The other Saiyans nodded. Kaerlos then said, "Anyway, we'd better get going." They resumed their search for the mothership. A short time later they found it in the same room as the escape pods. They were on a platform behind it that was about even with the top. "Leave this to us," Kaerlos said, indicating himself and KOS-MOS. Everyone nodded and stood back as the duo jumped from the platform onto the ship, which was in a walker mode that made it look like a crab, and from there to the floor in front of it.

The ship got the jump on them by firing a beam at Kaerlos. Kaerlos blocked it, but barely: he could feel himself losing control. He decided that this fight deserved an upgrade, so he transformed again. This time he didn't look much different, but now his aura included arcs of electricity. Meanwhile KOS-MOS was activating her battle mode. Both flew up to attack, but their punches hardly even dented the thing. It retaliated by shooting another beam at Kaerlos. He didn't have time to block, so he was driven to the floor. When he stood up, he decided that his current state wasn't enough, so he transformed a third time. Now his hair fell down to his waist, and his aura kept the sparks. KOS-MOS managed to block a beam despite it being fired from right in front of her, but she was driven away. Kaerlos then reentered the fight, delivering a punch that was so fierce it knocked the crab-ship over and jammed the laser. This fact was displayed when it tried to shoot Kaerlos a third time, but exploded instead. The explosion was surprisingly small: it only took off the railing of the platforn behind it.

Kaerlos, panting, said, "I need a rest after we clear the ship out." He powered down to normal.

"What was that form you were just in?" Shion asked.

Kaerlos sighed. "Super Saiyan 3."

It didn't take long to clear out the ship after the enemy mothership had been destroyed. After clearing the ship, everyone who had fought went to take a well-deserved rest.

-----------------------------------------------

TGS S5: Think I powered the enemies up enough?

Kaerlos: Yeah. Making me go Super Saiyan 3 was slightly excessive, though.

TGSS5: So what? It's better than having you tear it apart without even trying, right?

Kaerlos: True.

TGSS5: Bet Bardock's jealous of your strength.

Bardock: Yeah, I'm jealous! I refuse to fight again unless I'm given as much strength as he has!

TGSS5: Sorry, but you don't have a choice. And besides, wouldn't the readers wonder how you got so strong so fast? Anyway, next chapter: Growing Closer! (Finally! Something that doesn't have the word 'the' in it! Only took me a prologue and 4 chapters of the so-and-so.)
