Following the Clues

"If the museum doesn't have anything for us then we're stuck." Ryo flipped through the almost empty folder on his desk.

"Then let's check it out before assumptions are made."

Dee and Ryo arrived at the museum. Security guards were already being questioned by the other from the precinct. JJ finished questioning one guard and perked up when he spotted Dee.

"Dee!" JJ ran full speed at Dee.

"Oh shit!" Dee ran behind Ryo, causing JJ to latch onto Ryo.

"…um…JJ…" JJ looked up and let go of Ryo.

"Oh, it's you."

"Are these guards the only ones present that night?" (Author's Input: Subject change much?)

"Yeah. The one guard was late getting to post because of a distraction. We're going on the assumption that there is more then one thief. One was probably the distraction and the other stole the item." JJ read over his notes.

"Where is he?"

JJ pointed to the guard and walked off. Ryo and Dee walked up to the guard. The guard was about thirty to forty years old. He looked a little nervous.

"Excuse me Sir." Ryo tapped on his shoulder.

"Y-Yes?" The guard turned to face them.

"Would you mind if we asked you a few questions?" The guard shook his head. "What distracted you that night?"

"I thought I saw someone in the bushes so I went to check it out before coming to my post. When I got there, it was gone."

"What about the cameras?" Dee pointed up at one.

"They took `em."

"You do know that lying to the police is wrong." Dee leaned into the guard.

"Alright, alright. There's five of `em. They work in a night club. They paid me not to speak." The guard looked around. "Ya gotta protect me, if they find out that I spoke, they'd kill me!"

"Do you have any names?" Ryo took out a little pad.

"No, they use letters as code names. There's two girls and three guys."

"Alright, thank you for your co-operation. We'll keep watch of your apartment."

The guard nodded. Ryo and Dee left the museum and headed to all the night clubs.

Jiru and Dareru sat in a black corvette near the museum. They listened to the whole conversation between the two detectives and the guard. Jiru smirked.

"I think we need to pay our little guard buddy a visit before the cops do."

"Sure, why not."

A few hours past and they turned up empty handed. They went to the last one on their list, Blitz.

"This better be the right one." Dee flicked his cigarette to the ground and crushed it with his heel.

"I hope so too." Ryo sighed.

They entered the club and found it completely empty. A head popped up from the bar and freaked out Ryo and Dee.

"Sorry, didn't mean to scare ya." The bartender smiled at them. "Who are you and what are you doing here?"

"We're from the twenty-seventh precinct. I'm detective Randy Maclean and this is my partner detective Dee Laytner. We're investigating a museum thievery." Ryo and Dee showed their badges.

"Alright. Why did you come here though?"

"We have reason to believe that owners of a night club are these thieves. May we ask you a few questions?"

"Sure, why not. Can I get you anything?"

"No thanks." Ryo shook his head and took a seat at the bar.

"Bloody Mary for me." Dee sat next to him.

"Dee!"

"It's alright. I offered."

"I need the names of the people who work here as well as what they do."

"Sure. Let's see, Jiru is the busgirl, Dareru is the waitress, Arizu is the bouncer, Nui is the DJ and I'm Isaki, the bartender."

"Two females and three males. Where are they?"

"Out and about. I don't keep track of `em. It's not my business what they do." Isaki shrugged.

"Would any of them be into thievery?"

"No reason to steal. We make a lot off of this place. It's the most popular night club around."

Ryo nodded. Isaki brought Dee his Bloody Mary. Isaki leaned against the counter and stared into Ryo's eyes.

"You're oriental, aren't you?"

"Uh…ya…why?"

"Just asking." Isaki stood up properly and smirked at the angry look Dee had. "You two are more then just partners in the force, aren't ya?"

"That's none of your business." Dee growled lightly.

"Whatever. Is that all you need from me?"

"Yes. Thank you for your time." Ryo and Dee got up from their seats.

"Detective Laytner, you'll have to pay for that drink."

Dee grumbled and put a few bills on the counter. Isaki watched the two leave and sighed in relief. He looked under the counter and smirked at Nui. Nui looked up at Isaki and blushed.

"Now, where were we before we were so rudely interrupted?" Nui stood up and leaned his back against the counter.

Isaki turned Nui's head to face him. Nui rested his hand over Isaki's and shook his head a little.

"After work, come to my room." With that said Nui turned from Isaki and headed into the back.

"Will do." Isaki smirked.

"W-What do you want?"

"We told you not to go to the cops."

"Now you'll pay for it."

Jiru aimed her gun at the guards head. The guard backed up to the phone. Jiru fired her gun and twirled it in her hand. The guard fell to the floor, a puddle of blood forming around his head.
