Chapter One
A black hair woman obviously dressed in the play costume began to sing as three men enter the theater, meeting and talking with the manager. She was the diva of the play, her stage name was known as Lust while her plumpy partner was known as Gluttony.
"This trophy from our saviours, from our saviours from the enslaving force of Rome!" Lust sang.
"With feasting and dancing and song, tonight in celebration, We greet the victorious throng, returned to bring salvation!" the girl's chorus sang before the men's chorus sang out, "The trumpets of Carthage resound! Hear, Romans, now and tremble! Hark to our step on the ground!"
"Hear the drums, Hannibal comes!" they all sang out as Gluttony entered the stage, also in costume and he began to sing as well, "Sad to return to find the land we love threatened once more by Roma's far-reaching grasp."
The play was interupted as the four men came onto the stage, making the blonde female conductior stop the music.
"Gentlemen, gentlemen.." she said in hopes of getting their attention.
"Rehearsals, as you see, are under way, for a new production of Chalumeau's 'Hannibal'." the manager known as Fughre said before Hawkeye said, "Fugher, I am rehearsing.""Madame Hawkeye, Madame Pinako, ladies and gentlemen, Please if I could have your attention, thank you. As you know, for some weeks there have been rumours of my imminent retirement. I can now tell you that these were all true and it is my pleasure to introduce you to the two gentlemen Who now own the Opera Populaire, Monsieur Armstrong and Monsieur Hughs." the Fugher announced before Armstrong made his own introduction, "And we are deeply honoured to introduce our new patron, the Vicomte de Changy."The black hair man bowed to the ladies and gentlemen that were in the theater before saying, "My parents and I are honoured to support all the arts especially the world renowned Opera Populaire."Fugher nodded before he turned the three men's attention to Lust and Gluttony, "Vicomte, Gentlemen, Signora Lust Giudicelli, our leading soprano for five seasons now and Signor Ubaldo Gluttony."Roy bowed to them both and said to Gluttony, Lust, and Hawkeye, "An honour, Signor. I believe I'm keeping you from your rehearsal. I will be here this evening to share your great triumph. My apologies, madame."Hawkeye nodded to Roy, "Thank you, Monsieur Le Vicomte. Once more if you please, signor."Lust smirked and said to one of the young girls as Pinako shows Roy, Armstrong, and Hughs around, "He loves me!"Pinako walked as she said, walking by the dancing girls and boy, "We take a particular pride here in the excellence of our ballets, monsieur."
"I see why, especially that little blonde angel." Armstrong said, reffering to the blonde hair girl.
"My granddaughter, Whinry Rockbell." Pinako said and listened to what Armstrong said when noticing the blonde hair boy dancing next to Whinry, "And that boy? No relation, I trust.""Edward Elric, promising talent, Monsieur Armstrong, very promising." Pinako said, getting a surprised look from the taller male as he said, "Elric, you say? No relation to the famous Swedish violinist?"
"His oldest child, orphan at 10, seperated from his younger brother, when he came to live and train in the ballet dormitory." Pinako said, getting yet another surprised look from Armstrong when he said, "An orphan, you say!""Bid welcome to Hannibal's guests, the elephants of Carthage! As guides on our conquering quests, Dido sends Hannibal's friends!" the chorus sang before Lust and Gluttony joined them, "The trumpeting elephants sound, hear, Romans, now and tremble! Hark to their step on the ground, hear the drums! Hannibal comes!"
"Madame Hawkeye, isn't there a rather marvelous aria for Elissa in Act Three of "Hannibal"? Perhaps if Signora..." Hughs suggested when Lust was throwing a hissy fit about her dress being stepped on and ruined, making the black hair diva say, "Yes...Yes...Madame Hawkeye?"
"If my diva commands." Hawkeye said, getting a smirk look from Roy, who heard the mocking hint in the conductor's voice.
"Yes I do." Lust said, ignoring the mocking hint.
